Great location along the Hudson River in Irving. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time. Finally, my friend, Isabella and I decided to go there on a Saturday evening. The location is great along the Hudson river with a scenic sunset view. We requested seating outside, which was nice. However, the tables and chairs can be more comfortable. I decided to try something that I have never had before so I ordered a sambal chicken dish. The waiter described it as a platter of food but I was underwhelmed by the presentation when the dish was served. Interestingly, the dish has four proteins: chicken, fish, egg, and peanuts. It comes with a dipping sauce and a scope of sticky rice but no vegetables. The chicken looked a little dry and the sardines were plain but it tasted alright. Isabella ordered a Thai curry dish. It wasn't serve hot enough, the waiter took it and heat it up a bit. The wait staff were nice and friendly. The location and the restaurant has great potentials, but the food quality and presentation can easily do much better.

Very nice Thai restaurant right along the Hudson with beautiful views. They have large deck with outside seating. We came early Saturday night and were seated right away. The service was quick. We order the dumplings as appetizer and they were delicious! I love the sauce it came with. My husband ordered the Pad chicken. It was very flavorful but a little undercooked. Also I had a mango mojito which was delicious The ambiance was very nice as well. Large parking lot. We will be back!

My husband and I stopped by for dinner after touring houses nearby. The restaurant is located near water which if it wasn't so cold this night it would have been pretty to sit outside. Inside was nicely decorated. When we walked in they led us upstairs which is the main dining area. We got menus and ordered the massaman curry. I got the duck and my husband got the beef. My husband also got a Thai iced tea. The tea was refreshing and not too sweet. The curries were ok. The flavors were good but the duck was dry and overly chewy. My husband said his curry was only ok. Later for dessert I noticed a pumpkin custard on the menu. I love anything pumpkin so I had to try it. They were very busy that evening and told us it would take awhile. Since we had no place to get to in a hurry we said sure we'll wait. It took almost half an hour before it came. They did warn us. It was very good luckily. The pumpkin does not have the same flavors as American pumpkin pie. It was puréed pumpkin sitting on top of sticky rice drenched in coconut milk. I liked it a lot. Not very sweet, the pumpkin was soft and slightly salty. The sticky rice is soft and full of coconut flavor. Overall not bad.

Great food! Not great service/ambiance. I came here with my family on a Saturday night for dinner. We made reservations, which was good because it was packed. We shared the cauliflower Manchurian and roti canai for appetizers, and really liked both of them. I had the pompano, which was a whole fish. Messy to eat, but delicious! We sat outside on the deck. The tables are packed in and it's pretty uncomfortable. There isn't a lot of room for people to walk through, and I felt like someone was constantly bumping into the back of my chair. The inside of the restaurant looks a bit gaudy. Service was slow and the servers weren't particularly attentive. I can't necessarily blame them; I think they were doing their best given how busy it was.

Great food and service. Husband did the beef basil fried rice. He said the beef was a bit dry but he loved it. I did the stir fried Singapore noodles with tofu which were amazing. Great flavor and big portion. If you like Thai, I highly recommend.

I had a wonderful dinner at Sambal last night. I arrived early, so it was before any kind of rush and was able to watch the sunset through a nearby window. This would be an amazing spot in the warmer weather to sit on their outside deck overlooking the Hudson. Staff was super friendly and my food was absolutely delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken satay and the jackfruit potato curry. No room for dessert but I will definitely go back for another meal in the future.

My NJ Transit staycations are more for trees and amateur sociology than the cuisine, but A Taste of Asia lands on my best of '24 list. It's great to find such big flavors in a small town. The menu is perhaps confusingly long, but the pulut panggang appetizer was marked spicy, was new to me and involved a banana leaf so that was enough. I got belacan string beans for the entree; the intense sauce involved multiple food groups. I also liked the mango iced tea.

For a starter, the crispy chicken spring rolls ($9.99?) were ordered. It was a classic chicken spring roll with a creamy Sriracha sauce on top. There was also some veggies that occupied the plate. This was solid. The spring roll came out hot and had just enough chicken. The Sriracha sauce was not too spicy either. For an entrée, I had the Sambal eggplant ($18.99?). It was topped with a spicy tamarind sauce. This was exactly what I wanted at the time. The thin eggplant slices were nicely prepared with plenty of sauce. It was a good amount of eggplant too. The sauce had a very slight kick, but nothing overpowering. The tamarind must have offset the spicy portion more than I would have thought. Will I go back? I would.

This Asian fusion spot in a nondescript plaza has a large menu with a lot of small plates/street food, baos (with varying fillings), tacos/quesadillas/tostadas, curry, traditional Asian dishes, poutine, burgers, noodles like pad thai and plenty of veg-friendly items. We most enjoyed the chicken empanadas (generous filling, good flavor), cod tacos, and vegetarian spring rolls. The tofu lettuce wrap didn't have a strong flavor even though it seemed to have a lot of sauce. The beef Jerky (a bit tough and chewy) and vegetarian dumplings were okay, but not favorite items. We didn't order any items that were larger portion and it's very easy to rack up the bill with $9-12 small bites. Inside, you could forget that you're in suburbia because this place is pretty trendy. There's artwork and words on the wall and the menu tries to be clever (succeeds in some ways but not necessarily to grammar snobs). There's a 3% surcharge for credit card purchases. There's a Chinese food restaurant and Taimoca coffee place in the plaza as well.
