I got a gel manicure, and the woman who did my nails was so patient as I picked my color and then had her show me other colors because I am so indecisive. I am always so pleased when I come to Samantha's! I get a Gel Manicure and a Gel Pedicure each time I go (sometimes skip the pedicure because it lasts so long between visits!). They have a great color selection, and my nails usually last way longer and don't chip as frequently as they used to. It's easy to set up an appointment just by calling and sometimes they can even get me in the day of, which is nice when I have an unexpected event or last minute plans! I came in on Monday afternoon to get a gel pedicure and a gel full set. The pedicure was fine, but the gel full set was perhaps the worst I've ever had. I was pretty disappointed with the shape, and the color had ridges and was not smooth. My pointer finger nail cracked on Friday (not even from doing anything other than dishes) and my pinky nail popped off completely. I ended up peeling off the other nails today while at home, so they were never really that well affixed to begin with. I also got a bad allergic reaction to the poly-gel that they used. Not sure if this is going to become more commonly seen at salons, but I'm not a fan. The poly gel seems to be a lot less durable. The nail technician I had was rather unfriendly as well, and seemed inconvenienced by any attempt I made to try and talk with her. read more

The service is great, atmosphere is clean, everyone's friendly, and the polish lasts for a long time! I've been here 5 times and now it's my go-to spot. I really enjoy that it's not in the heart of downtown and by the Guthrie Theater area so it's easy to find parking. I appreciate how meticulous Sam was with my cuticles and making sure the black nail polish didn't get on my skin. The price is very reasonable especially in Minneapolis. For $35 I got the matte gel manicure and then I added the gold fakes for another $5. If you pay cash they give you a couple dollars off. Also, thanks Sam for being such a pleasant person to talk to. I was in a "treat yo self" kind of mood and I was looking for nail salon that was in the neighborhood and it would be an extra bonus if I was able to walk there from my place-- this is where Samantha's Mini Spa comes in! I called at 2 pm and they were able to schedule me for 3 pm that same very day! Score! When I arrived, I was greeted warmly at the front desk. The color scheme was welcoming and reminded me of an "under the sea" theme with the aquamarine shade of the decor. I was seated promptly and I had quite the selection for choices for gel colors. What made this visit stellar was my girl, Tiffany! She really hooked a girl up! I'm a nurse, so my hands take a beating on a regular basis with the hand sanitizer, hand washing, and other unmentionable fluids, so my hands are dry and cracked. She took notice of this and made some suggestions for some home remedies! Also, she took so much time to actual SCRAP all the layers of hand sanitizer that was layered underneath the last coat of nail polish that I used (I didn't even realize how much had accumulated). I don't think my nails have ever been that taken care of before! I was so grateful that she took the extra time to do this when she could have easily just painted over it easily. The woman who did my nails was awful but the woman who did my friends was wonderful so I'm giving it 3 stars. She only put top coat on half of each of my nails so they got messed up like 5 hours after my manicure cause there was no top coat. She left nail polish on my finger and a blank spot. She argued with me when I asked her to cut my cuticles more and was rude. She also got up at least 4 times while doing my nails for over 3 minutes each time to do other stuff my friend started maybe 10 minutes after me and finished 2 min after me. She also said she didn't have quick dry and was pretty inattentive the entire time. read more

They do nice massages and have great pedicure massage chairs. I really hope they make it through this COVID19 pandemic and I can't wait to bring my business back to them. The quality of the polish and the sloppiness of the removable and application of polish..

I really wanted to like this place. It's in a great location downtown. I've gone half a dozen times since moving downtown and have not had a good experience once. Everyone who walks in is offered a beverage before they get started (see the other reviews!). Not once have I been offered one. I'm not there for the beverages so that's fine, but know that they aren't offered to everyone. I have to ask three different times to have my nails shortened (cut or filed). If I don't mention it, they are cut down to the quick to the point where it hurts to walk for a couple of days. The polish - both regular and gel - generally turns out ok, but the process of painting the skin around my nails and then cleaning up is careless. I'm still scraping polish off my skin. Prices are ok but I'd be more ok paying them if everything went well. I've had better and I'll gladly drive a little farther to pay less for a better experience. read more

I've been here twice for gel manicures. First time was just fine. Place is clean and service was prompt. Second time was a different story. While the service was fast, there was definitely a lack of communication. I told her I didn't want them filed much because I liked the shape and length. When she finished filling, i almost walked out. They were butchered and incredibly uneven. I stayed and finished the service. Within 4 days, the edges of 2 nails we're already peeling back. Gel should last much longer than 4 days! During my service, I witnessed an employee being incredibly rude to a client that was waiting. Apparently she booked an appointment but they claimed she wasn't on the books. She said she was willing to wait. After 40 minutes they told her they couldn't take her. When she stated her frustration, the service provider snapped at her and was incredibly rude. Do to all of this, I will not be back to Samantha's. This review is for customer service only as I didn't actually receive nail services. Walked in on a Saturday evening around 5:45pm. I did not make an appointment as I didn't know what my day would look like and on Yelp/their site it says walk ins are accepted. I finally got home and made the 15 min walk over into a nearly empty salon with two customers drying their nails and one about to get her manicure done. I was greeted and asked if I had an appointment and when I said I didn't I was told they were very busy at the moment and to make an appointment to come back tomorrow, to which I declined. This was by far the BEST mani pedi I've ever had! Extremely clean facility, friendly staff who are extremely attentive and detail oriented. My manicure is beautiful and they took care of all of the ingrown toenails, cuticle cuts and the massage was great as well. The staff doesn't try to up-sell you on services like other salons do and offer high quality polishes.
