I get compliments so often about my haircut by Lorae at Bangbang. Lorae has a background in art, listens so well and has a fierce dedication to customer satisfaction. Lorae's fun to talk with but happy to be quiet on the days when I just want to enjoy the cut. And I so appreciate her responsiveness and flexibility when life gets in the way and we need to reschedule. Highly recommend. read more

Very poor customer service. Charged 225$ for having to reschedule despite being a loyal customer in the past.

I had the best experience at BANGbang salon, thanks to the incredibly talented Micka! I scheduled for a cut and dimensional color, but after she saw how light I wanted to go for the bottom of my hair, she realized we wouldn't have time that day to do both a cut and color, so we chose to do color, and she conveniently scheduled my haircut for the next week! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, they offer beer and wine there, how awesome is that?! To say I'm satisfied is an understatement. This is my new favorite salon, and Micka is without a doubt my new go to stylist! read more

Receptionist was unnecessarily rude on the phone when I was trying to make an appointment. Being polite to potential customers is the least you can do. I won't be coming back to Bang Bang. *Updating this review because the owner reached out via yelp and was very apologetic and helpful. read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting this salon and I LOVED it. The venue is so cute. Great decoration and lots of natural light. I was greeted by the woman at the front desk and she offered me water, tea, wine, etc. and I took one of the many Tazo teas that they offer. I wasn't waiting long before I met Alyssa and she brought me back to her chair to chat about what I want to do with my hair. She is so sweet and bubbly by the way! She was rocking a textured, blue ombre-looking hair style that looked amazing on her. I showed her a picture of what I was looking to do with my hair and she worked her magic and made it happen. I got exactly what I was hoping for and had a great first visit! I will definitely be back for another appointment. Also, on-street parking only. I was able to find street parking in the surrounding neighborhood without difficulty. read more

Bangbang Salon - Long, textured, asymmetrical bob by Alyssa - Hair Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I probably got the worst haircut of my life here. I went in to get my one layered bob trimmed, and I left with a very short, layered, mom cut. Absolutely not what I was looking for. This was a month ago, and I've worn my hair in a ponytail ever since. Now I have to wait a couple of months for my hair to grow out so that I can go somewhere else to fix this mess. While the hairstylist that cut my hair did an awful job, the owner of the salon did offer to try and fix my hair. There wasn't much that she could do since the layers were so short, but I appreciate her trying. read more

I have been coming here for a few months. I eat sometimes at Blackbird next door and the place caught my eye ~ ready for a change last year I decided to try it. Really glad I did. Everyone is SO nice here. The mood is light, decorations well done, and the magazines well stocked. I liked that first of all they had a good website, with information on it that was useful to me. Especially liked the pictures and bios of the stylists - that did it for me, I gave them a call. I just really like this place and am so glad I gave it a try. After trying without success to get my last stylist to do something interesting with my hair for the last few years (without a picture, using their own creativity) - when I came here I FINALLY got what I wanted - because my stylist listened, knows trends, and keeps up on her training. She's the expert - she should know what is good for me if she is good at her craft - and she is. Professionally trained, knowledgeable service - yay! I know they appreciate my business because they say hello and goodbye - that is so important. At last, a passport worthy picture! Thank you Bangbang! read more

McCall is a spectacular stylist... color, cut, style, you name it, she wins hands down. It took me years to find a salon and stylist I liked and then I moved away but I will always try to see her when I visit. The entire staff is friendly, great prices, and a great location. read more

Have fallen in LOVE with this salon after going here for what is now several months. I feel so at home here, like I can be myself and Gretchen make me look great. My pics are without make up. Services are also well-priced and they don't try to sell you into what you don't want/need. They have a wide selection of high quality products: I love the Oi hair oil. Next time I want to get the lotion. Gretchen makes my locks look shiny and beautiful. I love it! Now if I could only make my hair look like she does! read more

I booked an appointment with Alyssa to ditch the summer locks and get something more appropriate for fall. We ended up choosing a deep red with violet undertones and I have to say I couldn't be happier with the entire experience and the color! Bangbang Salon - Red by Alyssa! - Hair Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

So basically obsessed with this place. Went in today for a cut and ombré color update with Gretchen and left 100% pleased. I am very particular about my hair color as I've never dyed it until this past year and a half. Creative color such as ombré is also something I especially don't want to get wrong. Finding a good quality salon and talented stylist was one of my concerns when having to move from Charlotte, NC where I found both those things, but I'm happy to say I've found the same here. Gretchen listened to what I was looking for, carefully thought about what would be best and took the time to discuss options. I definitely recommend going to see Gretchen, especially if you are looking for some sort of creative color. The cut and color is not inexpensive but worth the quality. The salon itself has a beautiful interior design and fun environment. I love the large window fronts and the light they bring in. What's also fun are the suspended styling mirrors, chandeliers, wall prints and coffee station. BANGbang is actually very similar to the hair salon I visited in Charlotte, NC - Orange Olive Hair Gallery - in this respect and in that they are both live art galleries. Gotta love it. Definitely wanted to give acknowledgement where it was due. This place also deserves more Yelp reviews, so there you have it. :) read more

Bangbang Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I am disappointed in the customer service offered at this salon. I only purchase products from there and have been doing so for years. Also, my sister gets her hair done there and always has positive things to say about the staff. However, I needed to exchange a hairspray I was unhappy with and they refused to return it or offer me a credit towards other products because it was outside their 10 day return policy. I was traveling and could not return it with in 10 days. The woman at the computer was rude and unhelpful. I will be buying my Davines products elsewhere. read more

Love love love BANGbang!! This place is so great. It is a great space in a darling neighborhood. Everyone that works here is so wonderful :) I have been seeing Alyssa for a little over a year. She is so amazing! She does an incredible job with cut and color. They carry a vast array of different products in their salon and unlike many other salons, they carry products that other people don't carry. Some really great brands! I never feel pressured into buying products, but Alyssa does a great job of educating me about what products will work for my hair. I am so happy that I found this gem! (parking might be my only complaint, street parking most of the spots are two hour ... which can be tricky if you're doing a cut and color) read more

Love the name, color scheme, product line and all the ladies that were working the day I went in actually SMILED and said hello to me! This is the first salon in a longtime that I've found the stylists are artists that love hair and I felt the attention and personal suggestions made to me by Kelly Ann weren't just to get my money- but she showed me a few ideas and I let her do whatever she wanted and I havent even touched my hair for 3 days I love it so much! Even the BATHROOM was considered in this place- I didnt feel germy violated like most public loos! read more

Gretchen is the best. I am always nervous before a big haircut (I got 8+ inches chopped off, and for me that is a lot!) and kept freaking out. I didn't even know what type of hairstyle I wanted. Well, Gretchen helped me out big time! She basically came up with a cute short style on-the-spot and I left the salon grinning. Seriously- I couldn't stop grinning! I've never loved a hair cut before, but this one is one I am very happy with. :) read more

For someone who tries to be low maintenance go far too long without a haircut, BANGbang somehow makes me continue to come back for more....cut, color, wax, the whole shebang. The atmosphere is vibrant, the decor is funky and detail oriented, and the staff who work there are always happy to be AT THEIR PLACE OF WORK! I've seen several of the stylists, and have never left disappointed with any of them. They have vision, creativity, and hair know-how that I would never be able to come up with! I bought a few products from Bumble & Bumble, as well as Davines and I am now obsessed. I was given some tips and tricks to deal with my hair and I tend to get compliments quite frequently on the new look. I would absolutely recommend this salon to anyone, young or old. There is something for everyone there! Plus, Blackbird Cafe is next door, and a great place to stop for a bite to eat or a glass of wine after getting pampered read more

I love everything about this place! I had been driving by for months wanting to go in and then finally made an appointment after a botched haircut at another salon. By some miracle, I met McCall. She is absolutely amazing. I've tried for years to find someone to cut bangs that I can live with. Not only can I live with these, I love them. I love the awesome salon feel that I get when I walk into Bangbang. It's professional, comfortable, and a little bit like visiting friends every time I walk through the door. While I only have had my hair done by McCall, I've recommended the salon to at least 6 of my friends to the salon and they all have become loyal clients. And whenever I go, I look around and people look great. There is a lot of talent within those walls. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I wish I could give it 12 stars! read more

I wish I could give Bangbang Salon a good rating - I couldn't wait to try them and have heard awesome reviews from friends. Unfortunately I wont get to try them because they canceled on me. TWICE. once was due to a family ER, which is completely understandable but the second time they canceled 1/2 hour before my appointment time. I was in the car on the way to the salon!!!! they gave NO EXPLANATION! no offer to give me a discount on my first color/cut (yet if I canceled within 24 hours, I would've been charged...) Bummer that they aren't more interested in obtaining new clientele. read more

Customer service is the worst. I had scheduled a full foil and cut which takes about 3 hours and I always tip well so it's a huge bill. I was 20 minutes late due to traffic, called ahead and they said that they would have to reschedule and that I owed 50% of the cost of the service I would have received. They did not offer to let me just get a foil or just a hair cut or anything. And of course to reschedule was three months out. The worst customer service I have ever received. read more

I can't believe this place hasn't been written up on Yelp yet. I just moved to the area a few weeks ago, and my hair was getting to be out of control. I called BANGbang, and they were able to fit me in for an appointment in 15 minutes. I love this place. They carry the full line of bumble&bumble products along with handmade local jewelry. The atmosphere is relaxing and aesthetically pleasing, the is staff knowledgeable and friendly. Emily gave me a great haircut and maid me feel right at home, I can't wait to go back! read more

For a guy I'm pretty picky about my hair. I have been to lots of places to get my haircut and I have only found one person I can trust with my hair, and that's Micka at Bang Bang salon. Been getting my hair done by Kelly A. for years, she is the best. I always leave happy and looking good. Very relaxing and cool salon.

I wanted bangs - like really bad, but I wanted good bangs, not the kind of bangs I had in the early 90s. A friend recommended that I give this place a try because she'd had a beyond wonderful experience with the stylist McCall. This space is perfectly. From the moment you walk in the door, you'll feel like an old friend. The stylists here are charming and refreshingly down to earth. Best hair salon experience I've ever had! Love my bangs! Bangbang Salon - Hair Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Went in to this salon today for the first time for a little fall update cut & color. I loved my experience. It's a great, welcoming environment. My stylist was Alyssa, and she really took the time to ask about my hair and how I style it before we did anything. And at the end she really walked me through how to style it appropriately. She was so great. Would recommend this place to anyone and I will definitely be back! read more

I don't usually leave Yelp reviews, and I really never planned on leaving one for bangbang until I had to go to a different salon in Chicago. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. I see Alyssa and she is hands down one of the best stylists I've ever had... we have the same routine, I show her a picture I found on Pinterest and she recreates it perfectly. I usually do a haircut and foil (partial or full depending on what we are going for) but Alyssa is very realistic as to what I need done - she never tries to up-sell me and will work within my budget. Also - for the blondes, Alyssa is your girl!!!! However, if I can't get in with Alyssa, I know that I will be in good hands with any other stylist because they are all so talented and communicate very well with each other. I've seen Gretchen, Erin and McCall and have always left feeling fabulous and without too big of a dent in my wallet. The prices are very affordable for how thrilled you will be with your results. I think it's one thing to find a great stylist, but another to find a great salon where no matter who you see you know you are in good hands. I live in Chicago and still fly back to Minneapolis every time I need my hair done because my experiences there are THAT good. read more

One of my favorite things to do is to pay to have someone else try and make me look pretty. It's less of a "I ain't got time for that" kind of thing, but more of a "I ain't got a clue how to do that" situation. Hair is definitely one of those areas where I know what I like to put in it, but have no idea how to go about it. I can look on Pinterest for days at haircuts and styles, but no one should ever EVER give me scissors. This is why I turn to Yelp for help. I truly love finding a new salon (hello New-Client specials!), mostly because I grow tired of the same-old same-old. But let me just say, I walked out of my appointment saying "I've found my people." BANGbang Salon is everything I've ever wanted in a hair salon, and out of life in general. At one point, I asked stylist Alyssa if she could move in to my closet and do my hair every day. Although you can't make an appointment online, their receptionist was easy to talk to and didn't make me feel rushed on the phone. She asked if I had a particular stylist I'd like to book, and I told her to give me a recommendation. She then asked me a few questions and mentioned a few price-points before assuring me that Alyssa would be the perfect fit. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted with an authentic smile and a complimentary drink (water, tea, coffee, wine, beer). She hung up my coat and I took a seat in their comfy waiting area. While I sipped my Gainbelt, I drooled over their large selection of Davines and R+CO hair products. Guys, this stuff is the best. I exclusively wash and style my hair with Davines OI, and I teared up when I saw a whole wall full of their goodness. It was fun talking product with Alyssa - she was chock-full of knowledge as to what would work best with my hair, yet wasn't afraid to tell me if something wasn't worth my time. I pulled out a picture of a style that said "low maintenance" and she smiled. I told her I've been getting the same cut for 5+ years and was apprehensive about trying something new - she then began talking me through the cut, piece by piece, explaining how this would be the best decision for me, and how to manage my locks on the daily. I've never felt so at ease, and most importantly, more confident about trying a new style. Yelpers, I look freaking awesome, and by no thanks to me! The washing stations were clean and modern, and I loved the warm neck towel detail. The styling stations have comfy chairs, over-sized mirrors, and lots of natural light. The decor is like a trip to a cute boutique, with chalk-paint furniture, victorian mirrors, and high-end candles burning everywhere. The bathroom was clean, and had an essential oil diffuser and fresh flowers. The floor was free of hair, and the air didn't reek of chemicals. It was as if I went to a friends house to get my hair done. Their 5-star rating is not a lie - believe in hair magic, people! I wish I had something funny or witty to say about this experience, but allow my authentic and genuine love of this experience lead you to call them right away. Like right now. The space is amazing. I took a gamble with my very long hair and going to a stylist I don't know. Based on reviews, I booked at Bang bang 2 hrs before my appointment {because I have a 2-year-old, who has time for themselves with a toddler?!} and could not have been more pleased with Micka! She was sweet, listened to what I said I wanted, and my hair looks amazing! I trusted her enough after a brief conversation to cut about 3lbs of hair off, but still keep the length and add tons of volume. I LOVE IT. I feel like a different person, and think she's my new go-to stylist!! read more

WOW, I can't say enough good things about BANGbang. I came here hoping that i could get my hair fixed after a horrible haircut. First of all, the salon is super cool inside and out, and the staff was friendly and greeted me right away as I came in. My stylist Jesikah was amazing; friendly, knowledgable, and attentive. She made me feel comfortable right away, and after a few snips, I trusted her completely. I left feeling like a rockstar, a feeling i haven't had after a haircut since I don't remember when. The stylist that I saw at this salon ruined my hair. I went in for a touch up on my highlights while my regular stylist at another salon was on maternity leave. She fried my hair. My hair is literally in accordion kinks as a result of the procedure and totally fried. I had to cut a chunk of my hair off on my own because I couldn't even brush it anymore because it was fried. My hair even smells burnt several weeks later. I called the salon to ask them to fix my hair. The stylist offered me 20% off a product in response. I called the manager and asked her to have someone fix my hair and still have not heard back. I am going to have to chop off my long hair that I have been working to grow out for years because of the damage. I would not recommend this salon at all. Update-12/14/15 The salon manager called me today and was very upset about the review that I wrote on Yelp. She feels that the salon tried to make things right for me and said that they did call me and leave a message offering to have another stylist do a treatment to try to fix my issue. She said my review was not honest. I told her I had not heard back when I wrote my review. She said her receptionist said she had left me a vm and then proceeded to tell me that she "didn't like dealing with manipulative and not honest people." I told her I definitely did not feel comfortable returning her salon to have them try to fix things after she had treated me so poorly on the phone. I really did not appreciate her tone or being called a liar. I think she could have conducted herself in a much more professional way if she was trying to fix a customer service issues with her salon. At this point she has said that she will refund me my money if I come back down to the salon. read more

If I could write a novel on here and rave on and on about this salon, I would. But that would be boring for everyone but myself, so I'll spare you the lengthy review. Bottom line: I love this place. Every time I step foot in the door, I'm quickly welcomed in by friendly faces. I have salon-shopped for quite some time and finally feel like I've found a landing place. There's no pressure to purchase products like other salons, but instead, I'm given reasonable and accurate suggestions for my curly style. From a woman who loves her hair products, I greatly appreciate this. Oh, and if you're curious about the atmosphere - often times at salons, it can feel stuffy and exclusive but that's exactly the opposite of how I feel at BangBang. The stylists are professional and ensure quality work - while also creating a very relaxed, playful environment. Clearly the stylists enjoy what they're doing / who they're around, otherwise it wouldn't have such a comfortable environment. Note: I've had cuts done by McCall and color+cut done by Alyssa. I'd easily recommend either of these ladies. read more
