I am a 20 yr old male and had my haircut with LIDA YANG. She was great and listened exactly to what I asked for. Keeping my long flow going she did exactly what it needed to ensure I kept my length and added form. If you are a male and have mid to long length hair I definitely recommend checking this place out. I've had my fair share of trash cuts but this was fire. Great vibe highly recommend read more

My haircuts are consistently fabulous! Louise understands the challenges of short, thick hair. When it grows out, it still has shape. Love this salon. Like going to see all my friends!! read more

I've been a patron of Avant for the past year, being located in the skyway system makes this salon super convenient. The staff are professional and attentive, and my hair comes out looking great every time! read more

Avant - Fresh cut, color, and style from Avant - Hair Salons Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

Melissa is a great colorist. Cool vibe in the place. Book ahead. Be prepared to wait for the best !

Yesterday was my first time there. Though the price was out of my range, it was worth every penny. Kyndra was fabulous. She was fun and a joy to talk with. She didn't push any product on me, which I normally have happen. It is the best haircut I have had in years. read more

I had an appointment on Aug 18th 2021. I wanted a complete change of style. I paid for the highest paid stylist and all I got was nothing but shortened hair. He kept asking me for picture of style I wanted. I showed a couple but it was no where close to that. I asked him something and he was like that is common sense and I should know that. He did not wash my hair properly. I paid around $100 for a hair cut. It was complete waste of my time and very bad experience. I told the front desk and she was very helpful. She said she will call the manager to address my issue but I was running late and left: Also, I thought Avant uses Aveda products but neither shampoo nor the hairspray none of the products they used on me were Aveda products read more

i love everything!!! this is where i will get my hair and eyebrows done!!! simply fantastic people!!! lovely atmosphere!! i will recommend this beautiful place to everyone read more

So, I want to start off by saying how nice everyone was at the salon, i felt comfortable. But i came in with something in mind for my hair color and left with essentially the same color i had coming in. I had mentioned i did want something manageable low maintenance but something noticeable. What my stylist had shown me vs what i got was a little saddening. I loved my cut but my hair color was the same color i had with random patches of brown and i could see him trying to convince me this was beautiful and I tried for weeks to see a difference. I paid $220 for a glorified haircut and I just wish I got what I wanted instead of him trying to convince me otherwise. read more

I went to this salon for years, but I followed my stylist to a new salon. Still, with that said, Avant is a great place. Free sodas, warm towels, friendly front desk. I highly recommend Louise, especially for color correction. But everyone is good. read more

This is the best hair salon that I have gone to! When you arrive they offer to let you change into a smock so that color/hair doesn't get on your shirt - which is a great touch considering I've had hair color get on my clothes at salons in the past. They also offer you a drink (their tea is delicious) and the salon is very tidy and up to date. My hair stylist, Leah, always listens to what I want and goes above and beyond for me to make sure that my hair is perfect! This is a very convenient location for me since I work downtown, but they do also validate parking in the garage connected to their building. read more

I guess the world doesn't need the fourth five-star review to know this is a great salon... I LOVE Avant. You feel like a queen from the minute you enter. They treat you to whatever drink you like, may I suggest Aveda's signiture tea, you then go tot eh changing room where you get to wear one of their warm gowns... When you get in the chair you are met with a head and neck massage (HUGE BONUS) and then the sweet smells of Aveda creep into your nostrils as you enter the journey of getting the perfect haircut. I couldnt ask for a better pampering... My stylist is Laura and she is super! read more

Your service at this salon largely depends on who you get. I had a great haircut that cost a fortune - and then opted for a less expensive stylist at my next visit. I walked in with my short hair coiffed perfectly and left looking like a drowned rat. Too much oil and product in my very fine hair. The stylist gave a good cut, but knew nothing of styling short hair. She even left me partially wet. Going back to the office afterwards was a huge embarrassment. I have not returned for more services. If you go to this salon - pay for a more experienced stylist. It's worth it. Oh, and give yourself plenty of time. They take a full hour + for haircuts. read more

The color we agreed on was completely different at the end. No apology from the colorist. She went on and on about her life, travels etc. etc. Trying to distract me from a horrible view that was my new hair. At the end she said, you know, this mirror doesn't reflect the real color, it's all a lie, it actually looks nice. Another way of acknowledging how bad what she did was. So disappointing. read more

If you park in Ramp A, chances are you will have seen this salon while you power walk to and from work. Initially I was impressed with the sleek modern ambiance and the fact that they sold Aveda products. I hadn't had a haircut since September and since my hair is short I usually can get by with just routinely hacking away at it myself. However it was getting way too party in the back for my tastes so I finally sucked it up and made an appointment. I was able to secure an appointment within the week. The service was very friendly, my stylist Becca was super nice and did an absolutely fantastic job. I basically pointed at a picture in Vogue and grunted "I want" and magically half an hour later I had the exact haircut. Pros: Super nice, Not pretentious, tiered pricing, aveda products Cons: I guess parking might be a pain if you don't work in downtown read more

Tom is a delight and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had! I first visited because I was given a gift certificate a friend couldn't use before it expired. I'm so grateful because now I've found my MPLS hair guy! The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is clean and inviting, and I got exactly what I wanted from my haircut! He really listened during the consultation and fixed all the things I wasn't loving about my previous haircut's grow-out. Also, they start the experience with a scalp massage that makes me want to purr! read more

So yeah, I like my haircut. But for the rambunctious mop of pubic hair that lives above my face that's not saying much-- it will be styled by no human hand. Just gets a few inches shorter and goes about its business. What blew off these unsuspecting bobby socks was the massage. Scalp, neck, back, and self esteem. Delish. read more

Kari did our wedding makeup - it was AMAZING! She looked at our idea/inspiration photos and listened really well about what we wanted in our make up. She was super patient with me (not a super makeup-y person) and really in depth with my fiancee (who LOVES beauty products). Our makeup lasted all night and looked fabulous the whole time - made it through the ceremony with lots of crying, going tubing for two hours, and endless dancing. We have a photo of us at the end of the night, and our makeup still looks super perfect. WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for being an essential part of our special day!!!!!!!!!!! read more

It was my first time at Avant and I was thoroughly impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was provided with excellent service. From someone offering to take my coat and being offered a beverage while I waited in the comfy waiting area to the attention to detail my brow artist (Erin) showed, I can honestly say I've not had a better eyebrow experience anywhere else. The atmosphere was also great and you can't beat the location. I'll definitely be returning! read more

I finally decided that I could not stand another day without a haircut. I called Avant and they were able to schedule an appointment for me that day! The staff were very friendly and my stylist, Leah, colored and cut my hair the way I asked her too! This location is also very convenient for those who work downtown Minneapolis because it is located in the skyway in the Lasalle Building. read more

First off, Erika is amazing. She totally understood how to cut my hair so it didn't just look like a wavy bubble on top of my head. And she was very precise with my bangs -- I've already received tons of compliments on them. My new eyebrow shape is awesome too. I can't say enough good things about the service I got at Avant. I'm really looking forward to my cut and color in September! read more

Great haircut. I was welcomed with a friendly smile and offered a coffee. The wait was not long for the hairdresser "Steve", who did a fantastic job. It has been a while since a hairdresser has spent so much time (in a good way) cutting my hair. To make the experience better, I received a head massage to start and a shampoo to end. Great haircut experience! read more

I was just in town for one day and really really needed my highlights done and a cut. They were so great about working it out for me and I ended up with a fantastic hair day! Dusty is so sweet and did an absolutely fantastic job on my highlights and they found that Louise could fit me in for a cut. It's one of the best cuts I've ever had! She was quirky and funny and so could chat with her all day! This place is amazing. I wish I could use them as my permanent hair salon! read more

This salon creates such a luxe experience! My hairstylist, Mo, has worked with me for some time now and every time I go in she brings her creativity to the table and I always walk out happy! I would recommend this if you are looking for a full experience, from the refreshments to the hot towel massages :) Big thumbs up! read more

Avant....hair experts absolutely....but that's just part of it. It's a relaxing place because everyone wants to be there. The owners Mick and Tom have created a unique environment for their employees and their clients. I'm not talking about the decor (although it's wonderful) I'm not talking about the products (top of the line mind you) I'm talking about how they treat people - the way they would want to be treated. That combined with a staff of hair experts who will give you exactly what you want or something new and fabulous.....I suggest you let them lead, sit back and enjoy..... read more

Can I give Avant six stars? I can easily say, without exaggeration or hyperbole, that Erika gave me the best haircut I've ever had. The salon itself is clean, chic, and comfortable. Every person with whom I've interacted is informed, engaging, and quite pleasant. I'm a huge fan. read more

Without a doubt the best salon in the Twin Cities. I have been going to Avant for over 9 years and have never had a bad experience. From the top down Avant is the definition of relationship based customer service...they make you feel like a member of the family every time you walk in. read more

First time being there and was treated like a celebrity! The stylist that cut and colored my hair was Hoa Nguyen. He has 11 years of experience in the industry and it definitely shows, his skills and techniques are impeccable! I have convinced my husband to go there to get his hair cut as well. And if you're a student of the Art Institute, you get a discount! Bonus!! read more

The lady that retouch my roots and did my highlights did a terrible job!!! the retouched hair was not the color of the rest of my hair and the highlights you could not see. You needed a magnifying glass!!! You will regret going!!!! read more

I found myself in need of a cut while visiting Minneapolis. Found Avant with an Internet search and they were able to accommodate me later that same day! I had to do a little searching through the Sky ways, but that's because I'm still learning to navigate the Sky ways! Avant is in the LeSalle Building. Once I arrived I was given the "cover" and was shown to a changing room so that I could replace my sweater and shirt with the cover and keep hair clippings from getting all over. Nice touch! Once "covered" I was offered a drink (several choices) and I selected the tea because someone in an earlier review said it was good. It is NOT, unless you are perhaps some type of special tea connoisseur maybe. Just go with water! Gretchen was my stylist and she was most pleasant and professional! Avant starts you with a consultation on your cut and preferences and then you get a scalp massage, which is most refreshing!! Then the wash and an excellent cut! I was very pleased with the result and the price! They do have a tiered pricing system (see website: http://www.avanthair.com/), so depending upon your services and the cut, your price may vary. You are supposed to find out the price in the complimentary consultation before you get started. Great service, great stylist - it's most likely that I'll be back (but I won't get that tea). One note - they use Aveda products; good quality. read more

Mo is absolutely the best stylist. Sensitive to your concerns. Even if silly, she is very kind and patient. If you have a cut or a cut/color with her, you will be back. She can do trendy if you want, and it will be suited to you. She books up so I always schedule in 3 cuts in advance. She is an aveda instructor, but it never feels pushy. It feels like a friend offering advice and no worries if you choose not to buy aveda products. But I do read more

I loved my Haircut! Its soooooooooo awesome. I had really long hair and was looking for a drastic change. Leah cut my hair and it looks awesome now! I love it. Plus the salon has a great atmosphere and they give a back massage. SWEET! 5 stars.. woo to the hoo read more
