We were visiting Franklin and wanted good pizza since our town lacks good pizza. We ordered a medium Sals Supreme for 2 and thought we would get a to go box and eat the rest for breakfast. we have been making out way across Franklin for a few years to eat at Sals. the last few orders have t been the best but today we ventured out for my husband's 50th with our kids, we ordered simple enough with a large split in half and a second medium split in half. the front came out and it was the large that want the more popular pizzas so they took back to remake.. didn't even leave for us to eat and just another smaller one. Then the replacements come out only to see they just took the smaller one and put it with the half larger one like it was all the same size, then the second takes forever... the first group was done eating.. only to be told the second was not made correct either. finally all pizza came out and when we got the bill there was no adjustments. I had to ask for manager to fix it since charges for xl only to have half not Xl and the second was so long all were done eating, they offered me $1O off, want so happy since our birthday dinner was not all enoued together and was wrong more than once. service was also about blaming kitchen that was confused - no one was taking ownership, can't say I will be back.. sad read more

We have had pizza delivered three times to our house. One time someone sent us the pizza and tasted great and it became a place we wanted to order from then on. However the next two times we ordered pizza the delivery time was way outside what we were told and outside normal pizza delivery time. The most recent one which is tonight I had called at 6:06 pm and was told 45 minutes to one hour. Ordered one large pepperoni and cheese bread. I called at 7:22 pm to see where the pizza was at. Was told the pizza just left and should expect it shortly. The guy was apologetic. Called again at 7:43 was told that they were really busy and I was outside their delivery area. Was also told when I called earlier at 7:22 and was told the pizza had gone out that was not the case and it just left. Pizza arrived at 8:11. Over two hours cheese bread was barely Luke warm and the pizza was warm. Pizza was still yummy however over two hours for a delivery when you have three small kids is a little hard to handle. Also when called to check I was told it had left when in fact it had not. Great tasting pizza but not great delivery time all for $31.22 plus tip. Also kids bed time is normally around 8 pm. read more

We got take pizza from here on Christmas Eve late only after learning Jets was closed and we scoured Yelp to find a pizza place that was open. We ordered a basic pepperoni, the pesto chicken pizza and a spinach pizza. They quoted our pizzas being ready in about 15 minutes...in reality they were ready sometime after 25-30 minutes. I don't want to be snide though because it was Christmas and they probably had more orders then they could keep up with. When we walked through the door around 7:30 pm to pick up our food this little place place was absolutely packed and they had lots of people coming in for take out. The employees were very friendly and clearly keeping up as best as they could. Oh goodness I will be thinking about the pesto chicken pizza for days and it was the #1 pizza out of the three we selected. (Thankful for my leftovers, because even after a couple days I'm still nibbling on the pizza. :] ) It was delicious, with large chicken chunks and plenty of pesto. Mmmm. My family didn't really care for the spinach pizza because it was essentially just cheese and spinach but I thought it was simple and delicious. The pepperoni one didn't disappoint either. I'm Italian & from NY so I'm aware of how thin pizza can be but this was ridiculous. The Sicilian pie that I ordered tasted too much like flour as well & wasn't completely cooked. I've never been to NYC, but a friend who is from there said this was the closest he found to NY pizza in this area. We decided to give it a try. Over the last year we've been there a couple of times. Since the new year, I have been trying to follow the South Beach diet and decided to throw that all out the window since I was really craving pizza. We went to Sal's tonight. The take out pizza is good, but there isn't anything like the first slice of a pizza when it's come straight out of the oven. Steaming on top with a heavenly crunch on the bottom of the crust. Yum! The second slice is good, but once the oils from the cheese start soaking in, the crunch of the crust is never quite the same as the first slice. If you've never eaten in, I highly recommend it. Just that first bite makes it worth it. Tonight we got half pepperoni and half artichokes and black olives. The artichokes were great. A first for us, but we will do that again. All of the staff is welcoming and friendly. And for my 3 year old they had a big batch of brand new crayons. read more

Tried this place for the first time last night and loved it. One big thing I have to mention.... no delivery! No worries though.... phoned in my order and I was down there picking it up inside 20 minutes. The pizzas taste good and the prices aren't bad. The place was full with families eating when i stopped in (random week night) so that's a good sign. Everybody at the counter was extremely friendly... good experience overall. Glad we tried this place! First off, I was greeted with genuinely friendly people when I walked in the door. In fact, every person I came in contact with there was super nice. We started with wine & beer (great prices by the way) and grabbed a seat. The ambience is very family-oriented with bright lights...not typical for us. But what the place lacks in ambience was compensated in the food & service. About the food...we got the large salad to share. Pretty basic toppings-cucumbers, tomatoes, the usual. Good house viniagrette. And we took advantage of the parm shaker. Then the pizza...artichoke, mushroom, black olive. The crust was great...slightly chewy but also crispy. The sauce was simple but had good flavor & was well seasoned. The topping were all good, with the appropriate amount & not center-loaded! Finally for dessert we had cannoli. Good but not a standout. ermahgerd!! I love pizza. And I'm a huge critic of it. This pizza is awesome if you're looking for a good, New York style, flat, foldable, giant pizza loaded with toppings. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The crust didn't get soggy from the sauce. It was the perfect balance of cheese, sauce and toppings. I wish I had taken a picture. It was a beautiful pizza. Also the staff was super helpful and friendly which I am very observant to. I ordered like 6 huge pizzas and they helped me carry them out to my car. What's horrible experience for a place I used to live. We got there and ordered a salad and two pizzas. Told the waiter we were in a hurry and asked how long to get the food. There was nobody in the restaurant and it was a Saturday at 11:30. After 30 minutes I asked how long for the food to be ready and they told us they hadn't even put it in the oven yet and it would be another 10 minutes. We ordered mozzarella sticks, small pesto veggie pizza and a medium all meat double crust. The all meat double crust was by far my favorite. So good, and not overly greasy. I'm giving a 5 star review just for the pizza. My family and I are from New England and we haven't been able to find decent pizza until we found Sal's. Sal's is an hour drive from our house but it is soooo worth it. It's just like pizza from the north. The crust is amazing, the sauce is perfect, and the cheese is fantastic. But, we also ordered 2 subs... a meatball sub and a steak and cheese subs. The subs were terrible. The cheese on both subs was not melted. We will not be ordering subs again. Even though the subs were bad, the pizza was still so perfect that I am still leaving a 5 star review and we will still be taking the hour long trip again, just for the pizza. I've read the various reviews of Sals and find them to be a tad harsh. Being from Chicago, I can honestly say that we in Nashville live in a pizza desert and have to lower our standards in order appreciate the inferior New York style pizza. Be that the case, Sal's bakes an excellent slice with quality toppings and tangy sauce. I would rate it as a 7. 8 on the Portnoy scale. They also give a discount for cash which "El Prez" values. My family and I were staying the night in Franklin in our way home. We ordered dinner for the seven of us and had it delivered.....everything was wonderful! The antipasto salad was amazing.....tons of meats and cheeses on it and more! My nieces loved their grilled chicken Cesar salads. I've been in the Franklin area since July. I'm leaving later this week and regret not coming to Sal's sooner! This place is a semi-hidden little gem! East Coast-style pizza in Middle Tennessee. It doesn't get better than that. I spent many summers in New Jersey and the pizza there is pretty much all like Sal's: perfect. We stopped in during the lunch time and split two of the cheese slice lunch specials. It's two slices and a drink. My husband and I split one and my kids split the other. They got kids' drinks and the total was somewhere around $20. Not bad. They were virtually empty when we were there; only two other groups, each with just 2-3 people in it. I loved this place and I'm sad that we don't have anything this good back in AZ. At least not in my city. read more

I knew by the smell when I first walked into Sal's that I was going to like it. I don't know what it is about that aroma, but it tells me the food is going to be good. I was right. I've only eaten here for lunch with my cycling club for lunch during the week after our morning rides. I usually buy one piece by the slice, which is enough to fill me up. Other times I don't feel like putting in every single calorie I just burned out there on the bike, so I get a caesar salad. There's nothing spectacular about their salad, but it hits the spot. The pizza always hits the spot as well. NY style-large slice, thin crust. I tell my husband how good this place is but we haven't been for dinner yet.
