Really friendly, the store is pretty quiet though. They have a good selection and the store is well organized.

Liz was awesome! Super helpful and patient. I came in with recommendations from my podiatrist, and…read morehonestly, I hate buying new shoes. They're expensive, and when you need them for comfort and support, you really don't want to get it wrong. I spent over an hour here and never felt rushed once. Liz took the time to answer questions, help me try different options, and even helped me order a different color. The store started getting really busy, and there were a few customers complaining, but she handled everything like a total pro while still making sure I felt taken care of. Great customer service is hard to find these days, and she absolutely delivered!

The shoe selection is carefully curated - and by that I mean that you'll only find higher-quality footwear, but also that your selections are going to be limited. For the men's shoes, there very limited choices for dress shoes, needed for my work, and I'm on my feel for a lot of the day. In fact, on a recent trip there really only was one pair of Eccos that would have worked. There are more casual, non-athletic men's shoes, and a larger selection of sneakers like Hoka. They have an okay rewards program - you get a point for every buck you spend, and when you accumulate 300 points then you get $20 off your next purchase. Essentially it's about a 6.7% rebate, and it hooks you back in to spend even more money! Be aware of the expiration dates of the rewards, however. Look out for brochures or emails with a 15% coupon as well.

Great experience overall, but today was a miss…read more I started running and needed a reliable pair of shoes, so I decided to give Road Runner Sports another try since I'd done the foot analysis there before. My first visit with Oliver was awesome. I redid the analysis, and he brought out three pairs for me to try and sold me on custom insoles. He stayed attentive the whole time, even while managing a growing waitlist. I left with the insoles, a pair of ASICS GT-2000s, and socks he picked out, which I'm still training in a month later. I brought my wife back for the same experience. Misha took great care of her concerns and was extremely patient even as the line built up near closing time. My wife left happy with a pair of Nike Structures. I've also visited the Campbell and Sunnyvale stores. They were pushing the customer appreciation month promo, and it worked on me. I'm now a VIP member at the highest tier. Shoutout to Chris in Campbell and Christopher in Sunnyvale for helping me when I was struggling to find a second pair for my rotation. Overall, it's been a consistent experience... until today. I came back to this location for an exchange, and the greeting was a flat, monotone "Hi, welcome in." It wasn't busy, maybe 3-4 customers at most. A staff member helped me within a few minutes but seemed unhappy from the start. I was looking for a specific shoe in my size that I'd seen on their website. I was told it didn't come in my size, but I had to show them on their own tablet that it did. I explained I was in no rush and was fine ordering it online. While I waited to try a pair on, another staff member asked if I'd been helped, which I appreciated, though even that came with some attitude. I tried the shoe on, but honestly felt like I needed to finish up and get out as fast as possible. Maybe they were short-staffed or having a bad day. I don't know. The exchange was completed with a very unenthusiastic thank you and goodbye. Today was a miss, but I'll give it another shot next time.

A few years ago, my partner recommended this place when he bought both shoes and insoles. He gave…read moreme money to buy shoes and insoles myself, so I gave them a try. At first, the gait analysis and fitting felt gimmicky, but since I was playing with his money, I went through with it. I discovered, not surprisingly, that I needed a stability shoe. The staff brought out several styles in more than one size. I'm a little self-conscious about the size of my feet relative to my height, so whenever possible, I don't take their advice to go up a half size. (Hint: it's not usually possible.) I was surprised by how willing the staff was to bring out multiple shoes until I found the right pair for me. Even though they almost always have several customers and sometimes have a line, the staff members always come back to check in, but not intrusively like restaurant wait staff who ask "How is everything?" after you've just taken a bite. The insoles may seem like a gimmick at first, and they will set you back an additional $120. Since they're going to make them anyway, you should put them in your selected shoes. Like me, you will be sold! They are worth it. They will make your feet feel even better in your shoes! Finally, there's the VIP program, which gives you 10% off all purchases as well as between 5 and 15% cash back, depending on your level of membership. Note the recommended number of shoes purchased when selecting a membership level to find the level that's most cost-effective for you.

Unfortunately, no one offered to help while I browsed, so I eventually left without making a purchase.

The New Balance store has a 3D foot scanner--an advanced machine designed to capture precise…read moremeasurements of the foot for optimal shoe fit. So, of course, I wanted to put my butt in it. But doing so, of course, would be inappropriate, disruptive, and disrespectful to both the staff and the purpose of the machine. Attempting it would likely result in immediate ejection from the store, embarrassment on behalf of my wife, and damage to my reputation. If I want to do something like that, it has to come from a place of trust and responsibility. So I've decided on a different approach. I'll apply for a job there. I'll start at the bottom, maybe as a sales associate. I'll show up on time. I'll learn the product lines inside and out. I'll help customers. I'll take extra shifts. I'll support the team. When we have team potlucks I won't just sign up for paper plates and napkins like I usually do. Over time, I'll build trust with my coworkers and supervisors. I'll demonstrate reliability, consistency, and good judgment. When opportunities for promotion arise, I'll take them seriously. I'll accept constructive feedback, complete training, and become someone people rely on. Eventually, I'll earn a leadership position--assistant manager, then store manager. Managers stay late for many reasons: end-of-day reports, scheduling, stockroom organization, vendor calls, or something mundane like doing a full count of shoelaces to reconcile inventory discrepancies. One night, when the store is closed and no one else is there, I'll complete my duties. And then finally I can put my butt in it. But, for now, it's just feet. Ri helped me, with her patience, friendliness, and knowledge earning the store five stars. The scanner said I was a size 12 even though I am a size 13. It undersizes. For this reason I decided not to stick anything else in the scanner.
