Located in the downtown walking area of Killarney, we were told we would be going to Robertino's which we learned is the same as Salvador's. For my first course, I ordered the mussels in garlic. We ordered fish and fries. They serve supposedly Italian and Irish food. First of all the fries were from bottom of the bag or maybe leftover.if you are familiar with Irish fries they are supposed to be at least 5 to 6 inches long .ours was half an inch or smaller pieces, never ever had seen such small broken fries in our lives. When I complained to the manager she said that's how their fries supposed to be.I picked one fry and showed her one inch fries . She started insulting me and rising her voice . My wife tried to calm her down.she agreed to change the fries.The new ones were exactly the same size . Also the one piece fish was 80% oily skin !! So we asked for check because I was so shaken with their rude attitude. As we were ready to leave I noticed in the kitchen, the cook handed the waitress chicken sandwich with fries as long as five inches and thick . I mentioned it to our waiter why now they are using the right size potatoes. He asked us not to continue talking and leave!!! Very very bad experience. Stopped in here with a couple friends on a whim for an early dinner and it was very good! We briefly looked at the menu outside the restaurant before going in as we had picky eaters in our group but there was something everyone liked on the menu. The server wasn't the most friendly but she was efficient and kept our drinks filled including the big water pitcher we were given. I ordered calamari for the appetizer and it was good. It came out quick! We all had pasta for our entrees - I went with the spaghetti alla pescatora which had several types of seafood in it - and I thought it was so good. Very flavorful and it was a lot of food for the price. The entrees took a bit of time to come out but we were not in a rush so it was okay. They had several TVs throughout the restaurant set to different channels. The one near our table was playing what seemed to be some type of soap opera and it was cracking us up. Not what you would expect of this type of restaurant especially with how busy it was when we were here but it kept us entertained nonetheless! We were lucky that they allowed us to split the check up at the bar! It made our dining experience much easier and many restaurants don't like to split the check so this was much appreciated. This was one of the few places open that piqued our interest. It is a classy little spot to get a bite after a long day. We ordered the beef stew and bangers and mash. The beef was very tender and the sausage was flavorful. The mashed potatoes were also yummy with a gravy that I liked. I feel like there are more local spots but this one was yummy, and not a long wait but it may get busy towards the weekend. There's also bathrooms in the back which is nice. read more

GREAT Italian food option in downtown Killarney! The inside was beautifully designed and menu had a vast variety of options for food. The service overall was a bit spotty as (2) different girls services out table but food and drinks were turned around quickly. Nice meal after a long day hiking in Killarney National Park. Portions are huge, a little expensive, but you definitely get your moneys worth. I had the fish and chips, and had two large filets on a bed of fries, plus salad and coleslaw. The service was quite quick too! read more

Portion size was perfect for me but compared to size of pasta plates coming out may be small for some (maybe a half a chicken breast) but again for me I would have wasted food if more than that. We almost passed this one by because of the ratings but, boy, am I glad we took the chance! We tried the caprese, fried Brie and seafood chowder starters and all 3 were fabulous! Fresh pasta, cooked perfectly al dente. It was so good, I forgot how hot the staff were when they followed up to check on how we liked the food. The lamb shank doesn't need any prior experience with food to know that it is amazing. Tender AF and not gamey at all. Free night from the tour, authentic Pub was my first choice. The Mrs Seafood was on the top of her list. We browsed Main and High Streets. Salvador seemed to perk her interest the most. Greeted, walked to a row of occupied tables along the wall and we were shown the first vacancy (Hmm #1). The menu primarily featured an Italian fare; if I were in Rome, yes, not in Ireland (Hmm #2). So, by this time a seafood plate seemed a likely choice, too. After all, Scottish and Irish Salmon are touted as some of the best. But, first were drinks and a bread basket. Me a local Killarney Red IPA and the Mrs a white wine, which is usually a Riesling, but only sold by the bottle. Bland glass of house white was selected (Hmm #3). The bread was a fresh, sliced Italian and thin, pre-packaged bread stick (Hmm #4). We order, in the poorly light dining room, Hake & Shrimp for Mrs and Salmon for me. Sadly though I pointed to the wrong item. When serviced I received half of a chicken on a cutting board, which caused some confusion and no offer to provided what I had intended. After all, it was essentially my error. On the flip side, any establishment looking to maintain a reasonable reputation would put some effort forth to please the customer (Hmm #5). The Hake and (small thawed) Shrimp were good. The chicken dry (Hmm #6) and the marinated tomatoes and side of carrots, potatoes and spinach provided a moisture balancing effect. We walked into this nice appearing from the street restaurant for a quick bite. The restaurant was half full. The menu looked appealing but the food appeared bland and tasteless. The ambience reminded us an overly lit cafeteria with booth seating and bright overhead lights. But the worst was the rudeness of the staff. We left and will never be back. read more

I went to dinner here in a busy but early evening. The staff was amazing, not one but three servers checked on us to make sure everything was great. We had three dinners, including the lamb shanks, and everyone was happy. The Caesar salad was big, like dinner portion big, and the server warned us that it should probably be shared. I originally selected this restaurant for a group dinner because of the wide variety of the menu, sure to have something for everyone. That said, I did not expect the food to be anything more than adequate. We were very surprised to find the food was EXCELLENT! The one Mexican restaurant in town was closed. We opted for this place as it was just around the corner. In lieu of Mexican food, we ordered the calamari and the Mexican burger. I personally loved the calamari. Huge rings of octopus deep fried and crispy. The sauce was a perfect mix of sweet and sour. My husband didn't like as he prefers chewy calamari. The Mexican burger was satisfactory but nothing exciting. It certainly had great salsa and a decent amount of jalapeños but the bun felt more like an English muffin rather than a bun. No dessert. We decided to walk down the street to Murphy's for ice cream. A busy place despite my four stars, so maybe people know something I don't. read more

They seemed more interested in their cell phones that helping people. When they did come to the table, they were very short and rude with us. They seemed inconvenienced. The restaurant itself appears nice, but that is about it. The food here is not very good at all. I had the Guinness stew. The stew was extremely watery and had an oil slick on the top of it. The meat tasted like soapy water. I also feel like this restaurant is having an identity crisis. Is it Italian? Irish? Please don't waste your time or money here.
