Menu - July 2024

Stopped in here with a couple friends on a whim for an early dinner and it was very good! We briefly looked at the menu outside the restaurant before going in as we had picky eaters in our group but there was something everyone liked on the menu. The server wasn't the most friendly but she was efficient and kept our drinks filled including the big water pitcher we were given. I ordered calamari for the appetizer and it was good. It came out quick! We all had pasta for our entrees - I went with the spaghetti alla pescatora which had several types of seafood in it - and I thought it was so good. Very flavorful and it was a lot of food for the price. The entrees took a bit of time to come out but we were not in a rush so it was okay. They had several TVs throughout the restaurant set to different channels. The one near our table was playing what seemed to be some type of soap opera and it was cracking us up. Not what you would expect of this type of restaurant especially with how busy it was when we were here but it kept us entertained nonetheless! We were lucky that they allowed us to split the check up at the bar! It made our dining experience much easier and many restaurants don't like to split the check so this was much appreciated. There is a note on the menu that if they are super busy, they ask that you don't split the check.

Bangers and mash

This was one of the few places open that piqued our interest. It is a classy little spot to get a bite after a long day. We ordered the beef stew and bangers and mash. The beef was very tender and the sausage was flavorful. The mashed potatoes were also yummy with a gravy that I liked. I feel like there are more local spots but this one was yummy, and not a long wait but it may get busy towards the weekend. There's also bathrooms in the back which is nice.

GREAT Italian food option in downtown Killarney! The inside was beautifully designed and menu had a vast variety of options for food. The service overall was a bit spotty as (2) different girls services out table but food and drinks were turned around quickly. Our group got the bruschetta to start followed by the margherita and vegetarian pizza as well as a pasta dish for mains. We loved every bite and the food had good flavor to it. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for after a long day!

Nice meal after a long day hiking in Killarney National Park. Portions are huge, a little expensive, but you definitely get your moneys worth. I had the fish and chips, and had two large filets on a bed of fries, plus salad and coleslaw. The service was quite quick too!

Food was decent. Nothing phenomenal but a solid choice. Service was quick. Feels very fast paced vibe with an electro swing playlist for music. Clean friendly atmosphere. Not my top choice but I'd go back.

Seafood chowder

We almost passed this one by because of the ratings but, boy, am I glad we took the chance! We tried the caprese, fried Brie and seafood chowder starters and all 3 were fabulous! I had several seafood chowders on my way around the island that were very fishy tasting but this one was exceptional! We ordered the pizza and it was very good. Our pasta campognola was out of this world-fresh pasta every day and you could taste it. Very happy with our choice to stop in to this jewel!

Carbonara. Damn amazing.

Eat here. I've been in Ireland for a week, and this is the best place I've eaten at so far. Ladies, gentlemen, and gays, this is the place to eat. Idk who did the hiring process, but all of the staff is so damn attractive. Slightly, biased, but the men were gorgeous. One of the chefs facing toward the customers, with salt and pepper hair, was ZADDY AF. As having lived in Italy for a bit, I can vouch that the carbonara is on point. Fresh pasta, cooked perfectly al dente. It was so good, I forgot how hot the staff were when they followed up to check on how we liked the food. The lamb shank doesn't need any prior experience with food to know that it is amazing. Tender AF and not gamey at all. I didn't get a chance to try the Guinness stew because my parents demolished it (we shared the three plates to get to try a little of everything). So, I'm going to say it was good. The dessert was good. I only had a bite, but my parents loved it. Definitely going back again before we leave the area!

Tasty pizza; decent service. Interior is dull but clean and servicable. A fine restaurant for a casual meal.

€8.50 for a burger and €3.00 extra for chips at lunch time, they don't tell you chips are extra. What a waste of money.

Killarney Murphy's (Irish pub)…read moreWe luckily walked in and got a table without any problems It was 1800 hours Being from Texas we had to get guacamole/chips -- which were surprisingly good but they were expensive 15euros I ordered the beef and Guinness plate and was surprisingly served an incredible dinner--freshly colored vegetables, tender pieces of beef along with lucscious brown gravy and a scoop of mashed potatoes plus some brown bread The dish was so tasty that I used the accompanying brown bread to soak up as much gravy as possible ---I highly recommend this restaurant

The pie of the day, not on the menu, was steak and kidney, which I had to try "for research purposes". The pastry crust extended to the sides and bottom so it fully enclosed the filling and was served "freestanding". Crust and gravy were excellent. In the filling, both the steak and the kidneys were plentiful. My research completed, I probably wouldn't order it again; just give me the steak - no more kidneys please! Nevertheless I did enjoy and finished it. This was served with decent fries and a truly excellent green salad: a variety of leafy greens, radishes, cucumbers, pickled onions, and pre-dressed with a vinaigrette. The wife had the Beef & Guinness Casserole, served with brown bread. Along with steak there were also plentiful veggies (root vegetables and celery) and mashed potatoes in the center. She liked it. I tried it and agreed. I would get that next time. I had a Jameson Old Fashioned to drink and it was the best Old Fashioned I've had in some time. The unusually large twisted orange peel probably contributed and it may have had more than the customary amount of bitters. The wife's tea was amusingly served with a knitted "cozy" keeping the teapot hot. For dessert we shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding, served with vanilla ice cream, attractively presented with a dusting of sugar, whipped cream, and a ground cherry complete with its leaves. I'd rate it second among the three I've tried so far. Would certainly order it again. As for the pub I can't say. It has a reputation for good traditional Irish music every night but unfortunately not until 9:30, way too late for us. Sadly we're just not pub people.

A Fantastic Dining Experience at Bricin!…read more A huge shoutout to Johnny McGuire for making our evening unforgettable! My husband and I were on the lookout for a dinner spot and didn't realize we needed a reservation. Luckily, we stumbled upon Bricin around 6:30 pm, right at the peak of dinner time. We were warmly greeted by the staff and asked to wait just a bit to see if they could fit us in. After a brief 15 minutes, Johnny worked his magic and found us a lovely table for two. Our server, Elizabeth, was absolutely wonderful! She made us feel right at home as we settled in for what turned out to be an incredible meal. I chose the Pork Apricot, while my husband enjoyed the Oven Roasted Duck Breast, both accompanied by generous servings of fresh vegetables and mashed potatoes. Every bite was perfection! With our bellies full and happy, we left to continue our vacation adventure, but not without emphasizing how much we appreciated Johnny and the amazing team at Bricin. We truly felt the warmth of an Irish welcome. If you're in town, make sure to stop by--you won't regret it! #Bricin #DiningExperience #IrishHospitality #GratefulCustomer

I had not intended to leave Georgia, where the Almighty provides a perfectly adequate misery in the…read moreform of red clay and summer heat, but I found myself in Killarney. It is a town that appears to have been constructed entirely out of damp wool and roaming Americans weeping over their distant ancestors. It was raining, naturally. It has been raining since the beginning of time in this country, a fact the locals accept with the grim fortitude one normally reserves for original sin. My bones, accustomed to being baked in the Milledgeville sun, were practically singing a dirge. I required meat, and I required it immediately, if only to anchor my soul to my body before the damp washed it away entirely. They directed me to a place called the Porterhouse. It is a name that implies a slab of beef large enough to induce a revelation, which I took as a sign of divine providence. Inside, it was a cavern of dark wood and comfortable booths, bustling with the sort of frantic, joyous noise you hear right before a tent revival gets out of hand. The hostess, a girl with the kind of bright, untroubled face that suggests she has not yet realized the world is fallen, led me to a corner table. The menu was extensive, boasting of prime Irish beef--a creature I suspect was raised in a pasture significantly greener than any patch of earth the Lord saw fit to put in the American South. There were also, heaven help us, modern vegetable concoctions on offer, an affliction I decided to ignore in the same way I ignore folks who claim they don't believe in the devil. I ordered the steak, medium rare, on the principle that meat should bleed just enough to remind you that something had to give up the ghost so you could have your dinner. When the plate arrived, it was not an elegant thing, but it was honest. The beef was flanked by onions and mushrooms that had been sautéed into a state of profound submission. I cut into it. The meat was tender, rich, and tasted of the heavy, rain-soaked earth of County Kerry. It was a good steak. Across the aisle, a family of four was making quick work of a towering plate of cheese and fried bread, eating with a gluttony that was entirely unselfconscious. I watched them chew, pondering the peculiar grace that allows humanity to find such violent comfort in the consumption of food, even while the sky outside continues to weep. I paid my bill and stepped back out into the drizzle. The Porterhouse did not offer me a vision of the saints, nor did it cure the damp in my joints. But it provided a thick cut of beef and a temporary reprieve from the cold, which, in this sodden, beautiful purgatory of a country, is as close to a miracle as one has any right to expect.

The staff was very friendly and warm, the service was quick and seamless and the food was good but wouldn't say it was spectacular. It wasn't terribly pricey though so can get behind 'just good' food for a reasonable cost. Also, the layout of the place is really fun, lots of individual almost private dining rooms that make it a lot quieter even though it was packed to gills when we were there. Definitely worth a stop but probably not a place to go out of your way to visit.

We chose the prawn cocktail to start, roast supreme of chicken, and the 16 ounce t-bone. The prawn cocktail came in a large crystal serving dish with about 10 prawns covered in a Rose Marie sauce on a bed of lettuce. Prawns were well cooked, nice and tender, and sweet. Two slices of brown bread and butter. The chicken was lightly fried and came with a stuffing of thyme and spring onion, gravy and French fries. Chicken was well cooked, flavorful and juicy. The fries were nice and crispy. The t-bone was 16ounces and came with mushrooms, onions, onion rings and fries. The steak was cooked as requested, medium rare. The mushrooms were small button mushrooms with sautéed onions. Part of the steak was nice and tender but there were parts that were tough and grisly and fatty. It was okay but not something I would order again. The onion rings, 3, were heavily breaded, stuck together and were not appetizing to look at and definitely not to eat. The fries were nice and crispy and served very not. This was an okay meal but based on it I'm not sure we'd make a return trip. Seating was probably the most comfortable that we have found recently but the place is very noisy and makes it hard to hold a conversation. Service was mediocre in that once we got our main meal we didn't see a server to come back and check to see home things were. They were extremely busy so this might account for that but I'm not sure. .
