Our favorite restaurant in Columbus. You will need reservations. Even if you go during a random week day it is usually packed. We usually get the lamb meatball for an appetizer. For the main course I highly recommend the filet. They usually have a surf and turf special that is also very good. For dessert we usually share a cheesecake slice. Definitely worth going. read more

Very disappointed!! Started out with cocktails, nothing special. Ordered the onion rings as a starter and had no flavor. The dipping sauce was very bland. Main dishes were crab cakes and shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits dish came out cold. The shrimp was hot but the sausage and sauce came straight out of the refrigerator. Same issue with the crab cakes, side dishes were cold. Their crab cakes were good. For two people, a few cocktails, a starter and two main dishes, $130. Quality and taste of food closer to $40. I honestly think metro diner puts out the same taste and quality of food as this place. Definitely overrated and over priced for cold tasteless food. read more

Saltcellar is a great seafood dining experience in downtown Columbus. The grouper was absolutely amazing and the bacon wrapped scallops were delicious. The menu is so diverse with choices like shrimp and crab ceviche...how can you pass on that? The sides were quite the variety as well. The Brussel sprouts were great and the spinach was perfectly done..not overly seasoned. The spicy cream corn was just a tad salty, but otherwise everything was fantastic! The desserts were amazing...the coconut cake was phenomenal! We will definitely be back! read more

The minute I walked in the door I was greeted by smiling faces and a welcoming ambiance. The causal uniform of the staff complemented the unique modern feel that surrounded all patrons. Robert and Lauren held my attention while I waited for my guest to arrive. They went over the FULLY stocked desert bar and pointed out some favorites I might not have caught wind of outside of the wonderful display of cheesecakes. I was stuck in a chokehold between Matilda's Chocolate cake and the strawberry 3 tier cake (we went with the classic NY cheesecake with fresh sliced strawberries cause why not). Once my guest arrived we were swooped into the subtle yet crowed hussle and bussle of the night. Lacey and Melissa did not let that stop them from making us feel like we were the only two in the restaurant , as refills were not a worry for the table and the food was delivered in a fast and friendly manner, and the suggestion on the salmon was almost to perfect (also kudos to Melissa for jumping in and rocking the floor). With chef John and Wanye captaining the ship from the BOH everything FOH was smooth sailing. Did I mention my steak was cooked to perfect and cutting through it was like butter? Call me basic but the chimichurri sauce is always ALWAYS a must for whatever red meat you cholose. I am in this Facebook group and I asked for recommendations for my husband's birthday. Many people recommended the salt cellar, I went online, and saw the menu and was impressed. We showed up to the restaurant and it was absolutely beautiful. The ambience is great lighting everything was on point. Our server was just OK. She wasn't very personable she didn't try striking a conversation. She would leave for long periods of time. I just wasn't impressed with our server at all. We ordered the lump crab cake which took a bit to come out but when It got there the taste was great. The temperature was lukewarm but the flavors were all there. my husband ordered the tenderloin with lump crab meat, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. He enjoyed his food. That's all I really wanted for his birthday. I ordered the surf and skirt. Considering how long it took to get our main courses I was expecting my food to be hot and delicious. to me it ended up being average. Certain parts of my mashed potatoes were hot other parts were warm. Everyone recommended the brussels sprouts. I thought they were gross. They were mushy and lukewarm. Definitely better at Marbellas. I said over and over that it was my husband's birthday and I was expecting like other restaurants to maybe offer a small slice of cake with a candle and may be a song. Nope not here. We got a piece of Oreo cookie cheesecake to go. My husband said it was the best cheesecake he's ever had. So that made me happy. My wife and I had wanted to try Saltcellar for some time. We have enjoyed The Loft and Mabella's for some time. Last night, 05-10-2024, we had tickets for the Springer so we made reservations at Saltcellar. Our server was Madison. We ordered the fried Vidalia onion rings. Then we both ordered the crab cakes with spicey creamed corn. For her second side my wife ordered the asparagus and I ordered the mushrooms. The rings came out very soon and were freshly cooked (very hot). The sauce with them had no flavor and the onion rings were bland. I asked for some ranch (not my favorite dressing) and some salt. Madison went next door to Mabella's and got the ranch. A little salt and the ranch made the rings much better. Then the entrees came. The food was not hot and actually less then warm. Almost room temperature. The cakes needed seasoning, the corn had no flavor, the asparagus needed seasoning and more cooking, and all you could taste about the mushrooms was worcestershire sauce. Salt and pepper helped the cakes and vegetables. Madison was all that kept me from telling the manager I would pay for the drinks and leave. She took the rings off the check and comped the dessert we ordered. It was coconut cake which was pretty good. Madison is the only reason I did not give one star. Actually, without her the restaurant deserved zero stars. On the other hand the show at the Springer was fantastic. I wish dinner had been. Saltcellar is over rated and too pricey for what you receive. I do not mind paying for a good meal but the meal and service need to balance with the price. Madison's service was above excellent. I wish I had bought some Krystals instead of the meal we had. read more

My African American husband and I attempted to have dinner at this restaurant and honestly have never been treated so poorly. The restaurant was partially empty. First, the hostess made a big deal about not having a reservation, then preceded to take me to the back of the restaurant (that's a no-go)! I asked if I could be seated at one of the many empty tables closer to the middle or front and was told " those are regular tables"! WHAT??? We left feeling very discriminated against for being people of color. We were as always dressed well and their was nothing stereotypical about us ( other than I guess the color of our skin). I refused to let it go and called the restaurant when I got home to speak to a manger who made no apology an basically said, the waitress was probably new. That's it, that's all... no please come back to visit, hate that your experience was less than appropriate, SHE DID NOT CARE!! No problem! we will never return. I've recently shared my experience with other African American professionals who stated they to have received somewhat the same treatment at this restaurant and management did not care. I hate to bash a restaurant because my husband and I are foodie and travel the world. But! I can not recommend this establishment!! read more

This place is awesome. The atmosphere is bright and a little modern. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful. The service is very quick. The cheese bread appetizer they brought out was fantastic. The adult beverage section of the menu is by no means lacking. You will spend a little bit of money to come here but it is well worth it for a great meal in Columbus. You absolutely cannot skimp on the dessert bar! Crab cakes were good really enjoyed the spicy corn that came with it. But I would enjoy some sort of sauce because the crab cake seem dry. Got the seafood pasta newburg really enjoyed that also. The bread they gave use was cold but I think it would have been tasty if it had of been warm or even hot. Maybe it was because it was 9 near closing I guess. And if you look at the menu online and see the German Chocolate Cake. Please don't get your mouth set for it because it's NOT something the have anymore! DAMN! read more

Bacon Wrapped Scallops were cooked perfectly. Seared and tender. Chose the cream corn and Brussel sprouts and both were super tasty. Two of our party had the Scottish salmon and both raved about the seasoning and dish as a whole. Green beans and almonds were fantastic and the Argentinian sauce was to die for. This place did not disappoint. The ambiance is amazing. The whole staff was helpful & friendly . The menu has a wide variety. I honestly could have ate strictly from the starter menu , everything honestly looks that good. I am not Gluten-free but there are MANY GF options.
