My wife had lunch with the girls, and brought me back a cheese burger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was edible, but not on my favorites list. An hour after eating it, I started gagging. By 5 pm I was vomiting. That went on, then diarrhea, more vomit and my eyes started seeing bands of color from the sides. Was about to call 9-1-1 if that kept up. When there was nothing left to puke and poop. I went to bed and hoped to sleep, I was exhausted. I got up and found I had lost 4 pounds of weight. A group of 6 went at 4 pm today. They were quite crowded, but managed to seat us within 15 minutes. Food was decent- steamed sh rim and fish tacos were good. Steak and shrimp curry acceptable, but nothing special. Two reasons for the low rating - music that was horrendously loud. No one could carry on a conversation; supples lacking. There was no club soda, vermouth, Roses lime juice, mayonnaise or to- go boxes. The servers were friendly and efficient and the view is great. This was our second visit to the Salt Shake, first time we sat outside with our dog. Upon being seated we looked over the menus and waited. We sat for a good 8-10 minutes before someone asked if we had been helped. I was annoyed at this point and was ready to go talk to someone. Our waitress Alex changed my attitude immediately with her bubbly and friendly personality. She was very helpful with recommendations for starters as well as the specials. And was very attentive throughout the rest of our visit. We had the gator bites and my husband did the steamed you peel shrimp, which were both delicious. We ended up ordering the fish special pompano but had it cooked differently. It was our first taste of this fish and it was outstanding. Decided to try the new Salt Shack on the Lake today... so glad we did!! There was a 25 minute wait. We bopped around to the outdoor bar window to get a drink, we ended up finding 2 seats at the indoor bar!! We had a bartender, Andy, helping us. I cannot say enough good things! Knowledgeable (about both bar and menu) friendly, outgoing. It was obvious that the rest of the bar staff looked up to him. He recommended a few things and we ordered lobster bisque, chimichurri steak, smoked fish dip and the fish basket. While we waited he made us the best Bloody Mary I've had in forever! Perfect balance, topped with half a boiled egg, cucumber and bacon. It came with a side of beer. Our food arrived and we enjoyed every single bite. They had an in House quava cocktail sauce that was the perfect amount of spice. Fish dip was well presented and NOT gloopy. My husband enjoyed the bisque and the steak. My husband ordered his favorite drink after we ate and Andy made it perfectly for him! We enjoyed the atmosphere right on Lake Minneola, the food was well prepared and the drinks perfect. Just left Salt Shack and had such a pleasant experience! We wanted to sit outside because it's such a beautiful day and we were seated within 5 minutes. The sun was beaming on us hard so the moment a more shaded table opened up, we asked if we could move and they accommodated. Chelsea was our server and she was on point! Super friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! We ordered their Peppered BBQ wings, Churrasco Steak, and Grouper Tacos. They came with yuca fries and sweet plantains which were also so tasty! We loved all of it! the salt shack in clermont has lovely views of the lake which it is situated near from nearly every seat. the parking is tough especially if there is a car show or other event nearby. the food was so tasty and the service was fast and friendly. the restaurant has an indoor bar which makes it a tad bit noisy but also has many TVs on the wall with sports broadcasts. the desserts are delicious and rich in flavor. great seafood entrees and appetizers are served hot fresh and timely. The food was very tasty. Service was okay given how busy they were, I'd like to try them again midweek to see if the flow is better. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table and then they dropped us off their list saying that we didn't respond even though we were attentively watching our name move up the list. The Caribbean vegetables, two plantains and 2 stalks of broccolini? Ordered chicken tacos, a chicken sandwich came out and was promptly whisked away by our server who apologized for the wrong order. Got a peek a the small piece of chicken on a non- buttered or toasted bun. The tacos arrived with Jicama slaw. The slaw was tasty. The tacos were very bland, the Cesar salad you could tell had been made earlier in the day as the croutons were soggy and the chicken tenders were mostly batter and very little chicken. Our server Cody was friendly but it was not worth the wait nor the food. Prices were also very high compared to the taste of the food. I came in and there was a friendly atmosphere in every single one of the employees that worked at this property, I rarely find places where I place 5 stars but this one is another one into my personal collection that I have to recommend. The atmosphere is so laid back, it's hard to be upset about anything with the view that this restaurant carries. It went up to the next thing which was service, here everyone is so attentive, always being polite, asking how everything is going, never feeling like you are bothering anyone for asking a question. I also noticed the wait time is fairly quick there, I asked a server how we can reserve next time a table by the lights under the canopy (trust me, around 7:30-8pm its beautiful there) and he said on the weekends they are more busy but if you come in the week you can ask the server to be seated there. The food is extremely fresh and you can taste how well its made, like a home cooked meal. Quality of the fish is immaculate. I have to say just as constructive criticism that oysters could be a bit bigger, ours were tiny but maybe in the future that changes, not sure People seem to have fun, you can go with family or friends and you will have a good time, its such a laid back feeling, I felt so welcomed and almost as if I had traveled to another state, it felt foreign in a good way. Had lunch today on their first Saturday open. Long wait but not surprised. All staff we encountered were amazing. Food was very good. Definitely an upgrade from the establishment that was at the location previously. Really like the way they gutted and transformed the space. Nice and clean. Cocktails were average but not terrible. Where do I start... First impression is you walk up to the mean girls group in high school. The hostesses are rude and act like you are an inconvenience for asking to be seated. Second they won't seat you until your entire party is there even though they only have 12 parking spots and the majority of the guests have to find parking on the street or off their property and walk to their restaurant AND the restaurant is practically empty! There were at least 5 open tables outside and 10 open tables inside. Third, it is a dog friendly restaurant but they don't care if a dog constantly barks and disturb the guests. They could have a standard about well behaved dogs. Fourth, the food is average and prices are above average. Lastly, the view and location is great (thus the 2 stars), but there are a lot of bugs. Maybe it is the beginning of Love Bug season but spray at night or burn citronella torches to control the bugs. read more

Late Saturday afternoon lunch, arrived after 2pm, looked busy. Wait time quoted 35-40 mins which was not bad considering. We found some stools, grabbed a couple drinks and waited, lots to look at so wait didn't seem bad at all. Bartender was fast and efficient and seemed to really enjoy his job. Seated along porch facing lake and our server Paige came over took drink order and answered some menu questions. Prices on food a bit high but location was great. Had the corvina fish bites appetizer and a grouper sandwich and avocado shrimp salad, Everything was tasty and hot. Paige was friendly and everyone around seemed to be enjoying a beautiful Saturday on the lake. Won't be a regular spot as it's about 45 mins away and pricy but definitely a fun place to take quests. Our first visit, so our waitress, Riley, gave us an overview of the menu. She was informative and friendly. Lunch was served quickly. It was pretty, and delicious. Grouper tacos, jicama salad, key lime pie and rum cake. Above expectation. Restaurants are not known for coffee. We asked how it was; we tried a cup since she promised it would be fresh, and it was. We went to the Salt shack for the 1st time today. We were not impressed by the food at all, although, we only ordered appetizers, which were over priced, they were ordinary. The ambiance was beautiful as it has always been, the service was very good, but the prices and food not so good. We ordered the conch fritters-soggy inside and and maybe 2 tiny pieces of conch that would have been great. We also ordered the fish bites- they were good but very small amount. For $16.99- not worth it at all. We ordered the coconut shrimp (also pricey) and they were a good size and amount but not the best. I'm not being picky but keeping it real. We spend $70 on 3 appetizers, 1 coke and 1 beer. The place was packed for 2 pm causing a cluster at their front door. They really need to improve their quality of food or they will be just another Lilly's on the Lake! read more

Since Salt Shack has opened, we have visited the restaurant 8 times. The first 7 were very good based on ambiance. The majority of the time, we have waiting between 30-60 minutes, however, did not mind because the demand was high. The food was better at the beginning, however has continued to decline over time. The servers are very good and try very hard to make it a great experience. However, the hostess staff and one particular manager are extremely rude. One review characterized them as "the mean girls" and that is a great description. They are confined by "the corporate policy", which does not give them the ability to exercise common sense. We are 25 year residents of Clermont and were very excited about our new restaurant, however, after our last visit, we will NOT return. The reviews on this site do not reflect our local website, Next Door, which is 80% negative. It appears that their corporate office does not care and believes that the location is enough to keep us coming back. What they are missing, is that many of us already live on the lake and their is another great lakefront restaurant (Tiki Bar), that has been in business for 25+ years. Based on our last visit which was on a Friday night, enthusiasm for the restaurant is declining. At 7:00 pm, there was NO wait and we are still in season. Hmmm. read more

The location is wonderful for a relaxing time. Unfortunately, the food is not fresh. I had coconut shrimp, and they tasted as if they were freezer burnt, but I can not say they were. The Yuca Fries were good. The wine selection was very poor. Truthfully, it's the same food with a new name. They have a jewel of a location, they need to improve their cuisine and maybe have fewer options, but make sure that the options they choose can be freshly made in 10 minutes. The location is perfectly situated on a lake. Very convenient for boaters to pull up and order. There was service right on the beach at the boats. The wait was short and the area where we waited was cool and comfortable. We would have liked to sit outside but didn't realize there was a sandy beach option so we will make sure to opt for that area next time. We tried several different appetizers. The service was quick and food came out hot. The conch chowder was made really well and tasted great. The crab cakes were meaty. The key lime pie was sweet & sour, as it should be & the drinks were fresh. The temperature was surprising cool for a venue that's open air. My wife, father-in-law, and I stopped in with our 5 year old, 2 year old, and golden retriever dog and this was the perfect spot. The kids played in the lake sand and water as we waited and then we got a table in the shade on the patio and they immediately brought water over for the dog. The top off the experience, the food was great. Fish bites and the grouper tacos really stood out, as did the fresh key lime pie. Already scheming our return trip!! read more
