Stopped by Salt Shack on the Lake for a quick bite and a drink, and it was such a great experience. I had a Bloody Mary and the coconut shrimp, and both were excellent. The coconut shrimp were crispy and flavorful, but the citrus mustard sauce was definitely the standout for me -- so good and paired perfectly with the shrimp. We were seated quickly, service was friendly, and everything came out without a long wait. The lake views are also a huge plus and make this a really nice spot to relax, even if you're only stopping in for something small. Great food, good service, and a beautiful setting. I'd definitely come back, especially to enjoy the lake views with another drink and appetizer. read more

Ate at Salt Shack today for lunch. We sat outside on their deck. The view was great. Unfortunately, everything went down hill from there. I had the fish sandwich. The fish was grouper. It was fried and well prepared. It tasted pretty good. The fries were lukewarm, at best. My poor wife ordered the crab cakes that came with sautéed vegetables. I would put this in the top 5 of the worst meals we were ever served in a restaurant. The crab cakes were, at least, 80% filler. It tasted like the dressing my MIL used to serve at Thanksgiving, that nobody ate. She gave me a portion to try and I thought what little crab there was, had an off taste. The dish came with two spears of asparagus. The asparagus was flowered. It was picked two weeks after it should have been. There were also two sad pieces of plantains, ( I had to ask what they were because they were unrecognizable). It looked as though these may have been cooked yesterday. The rest of the vegetables were so greasy they were almost inedible. The whole plate was a lukewarm mess. The service was adequate, but we had to ask for silverware. I am rarely in this area and after finding Salt Shack on Instagram I made a point to come grab a meal. I visited on a Sunday for lunch. I could tell when I arrived this is like PEAK time for the restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the lake and there was so many people enjoying the lake out back and coming up to grab food. The parking lot was full but got lucky with a street spot. There could have been a better system checking in with the hostess because there was a mob of people all gathered around the hostess with no order whatsoever. We finally got sat outside. I wished for a seat inside because it was brutally hot outside with a few outdoor fans but not enough. Our server was fantastic and service was great. I ordered a mojito that was refreshing for the day. I ordered the island chicken tacos. While the tacos tasted good, nothing screamed "island". The chicken wasn't marinated. Just a sauce that was on the side. I enjoyed the yuca fries that I got on the side. My boyfriend got the island chicken sandwich which he liked but agreed with the chicken not being really island-y. Stopped in today (9/22/26) for an early lunch, was sat right away. First visit, they are doing some renovations, looks like adding a new patio? Anyways, my server Chelsea was super nice, quick and polite. I ordered the shrimp basket which came with I think like 8 very good sized shrimp and fries. The cocktail sauce was really good as well, didn't have that spicy kick most have. It was definitely getting busy as I let around noon. Great find, will be back again soon for sure. read more

I've eaten here several times because I wanted to make sure my opinion was based on consistency, and they've impressed me every visit. This time I ordered the chimichurri steak, and it was phenomenal. The steak was incredibly tender, and the chimichurri sauce was packed with flavor. It also came with two sweet, soft plantains that were absolutely delicious and fried yuca. Their fried yuca is a must-try. It's perfectly cooked and topped with an amazing sauce that takes it to another level. I've also enjoyed their raw oysters, which have always been fresh and delicious. If you're a seafood lover, their grilled and blackened fish dishes are outstanding as well. The service deserves just as much praise as the food. The waiters and waitstaff are friendly, attentive, and always on point, making every visit feel welcoming. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night, a family dinner, or just a place to relax with a couple of cocktails by the water, Salt Shack is an excellent choice. The bacon cheeseburger is very good and the BBQ pulled pork sandwich we got was great too. There's plenty of public parking nearby too with not a long walk to the restaurant. It's mostly indoor seating and both indoor and outdoor seating has a good view of the lake. There's 2 different women's restrooms, which is a nice touch. Food was a little pricey but nothing too bad. We stumbled across this gem of a place while driving to Tampa from Orlando. The atmosphere was very lively and right on the lake. The staff were very friendly and informative. The pina colada was recommended by our server and I must say that was the best pina colada I've ever had. It was creamy, with roasted coconut flakes on top. The food was quick and exceptionally tasty. The mahi dip was perfectly balanced between cream and fish. It was served with green peppers and a spicy sauce on the side which worked well together. The chicken had a creamy coconut sauce which was not too sweet and paired well with the well seasoned and juicy chicken. I've been here 4 times, and had a bad experience every time. Aside from a long piece of hair coming with my tuna (which I understand happens), I've never had any issues with the food. The food quality overall is actually very good. The service has just been horrible. I've also come by boat and by vehicle so I've sat at the tables on the beach and in the restaurant, and the service has been equally bad. I don't know if they're consistently understaffed, or if they just hire employees who are not good at serving, but it's been everything from taking 15+ minutes just to brought menus, waiting 35 minutes for a basic appetizer and then 50 minutes for entrees to come out, to having the complete wrong entree being brought out. Not to mention they almost never come to check up on you so getting more drinks or extra sauce or anything like that is nearly impossible. It's sad because it's a great set up, location, and the food is good...just probably one of the worse places for service I've ever been to. read more

This is a cute spot by the lake that feels very much like a little shack. There was plenty of seating when we came in and the waitresses were very friendly. I started with a piña colada and ordered it without the rum float (I'm not a fan of dark rum). It was not strong at all and was probably the best tasting alcoholic drink I have ever had! It was so creamy and flavorful, and had some toasted coconut on top which was a nice touch. If I was rating this place on the drink alone, it would be 5 stars. However, for my meal I ordered coconut shrimp with yuca fries and it was just alright. The yuca fries were cooked well and came with a tasty dipping sauce. The shrimp had a very heavy coating of batter, and barely any coconut on it. The dipping sauce was good but the coating just made it less enjoyable. This used to be one of my favorite places to grab dinner - we live very close, the service & food was always great but recently it's gone so far downhill. In our most recent visit, we had to flag down our waiter to order then waited over an hour and a half for our food. When our food finally arrived, all six plates were cold to the touch. When we brought it up to the general manager, she brought us new food for the children and free desserts to try to make up for it. Which was nice, but we specifically asked her not to bring desserts as it was nearly 8pm with two children at the table. Not to mention, she added the extra plates for the kids and the desserts onto the bill then tried to make it seem like she gave us a discount when in all actuality she simple took off the extra food we asked her not to bring in the first place. There was a big line outside of the restaurant, so we were worried there would be a long wait. To our surprise, it was only 15 minutes. They text you when your table is ready. Our food came out in a good amount of time even though it was very busy in the afternoon on a weekend. The jerk burger was very good made well done but still yet very juicy with a nice sweet and spicy balance flavor. The fries are sprinkled with old bay which were very good. My friend had the shrimp burger, and she was presently surprised with the taste very meaty full of shrimp flavor. The calamari was a little too thick for our taste. Having been here numerous times, I know what to expect. I was disappointed today, not only did it take over an hour for our food but it was cold when it came. The fish bites, which are normally small chunks came as mostly batter with sloppy pieces of fish in them, not to mention it didn't seem like the same amount as usual, much less. I will say one of the bartenders was great, he brought us hot fries when we said they were cold! One of the female bartenders said everyone has been waiting and too bad you ate it so we can't sent it back! We waited over an hour, of course we ate it! We came back again. I got the large fried shrimp with fries. Wife got the crab cake sandwich with fries. There are only 8 shrimp for $22.00 with lots of fries. They were light batter and cooked correctly just only I would call them medium and not large. The wife's crab cake was the better price at $18.75 and she ate it all. Said it was very good. Got Keylime pie for dessert and it was made just right. Great taste and creamy like they should be. No one stoped to wait on us until we asked the waitress next to us and she got right on our order. Natalia turn out to be great! In the end the extra wait was worth getting her. Summer time so we sat inside for the AC. Here about 12:30 and packed both inside and on the outside deck. Little noisy inside. Drinks are on the pricey side $10-12 for the size of the glass. Most people seem to order beer or wine. Went here for date night with the hubby a few weeks ago. What a transformation compared to the old business that was here a couple of years ago! The inside is completely transformed. Very spacious large dining area inside with lots of seating. They also offer patio seating and large picnic tables outside in the sandy area. Very beachy laid back vibes with the sand, shells, lake view, boats and Adirondack chairs. It was a busy Friday night but we were checked in within 30 minutes of arriving. Long enough to take in the awesome views. We sat in the Adirondack chairs under the large oak tree, waiting for the text letting us know when our table was ready. Our order was taken promptly and brought out quickly. We enjoyed the stacked ahi appetizer, which was served with perfectly crisp taro chips. The layers were seaweed, avocado and ahi tuna, topped with sesame seeds. It was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the fish and chips. They were very good but not a great value. It is mostly French fries with several chunks of fried fish bites. The fish he had was very tasty though, he just wished it had more. I ordered the chimmichuri steak. The steak was tender and cooked medium well. They have an odd pork based sauce served with the fried yuca that I did not care for. Waited 40 minutes from time arrived to getting food. 4 people ordered a total of 2 baskets and 2 orders fish (grouper) tacos and paid $80 with no drinks, dessert or appetizers. Rather expensive especially since servings were so small that no one needed a takeout box. Food came warm at best. A chili sauce covered what should have been crispy yuca.
