Stumbled on this great little spot while wandering around the Long Beach/Ilwaco area. It also ended up being an Open Mic night, which had my 2nd grader enthralled. We had the Brussel sprouts appetizer, which I would urge you to try even if you think you don't like them. They're sautéed with pork belly, and topped with cheese and julienned apples. SUPER TASTY! I had a nice spinach salad and butternut soup (meant to get chowder, but this was good, too), kiddo had the tuna sandwich from the kid's menu. Portions were a bit larger than she could handle, but it was good. I was pretty impressed with the spot, especially given that we were in Ilwaco, and it's a nice view over the marina. I'd definitely go back again next time I'm in the area. My only hesitation in 5 stars was that it was freezing inside. We had to wear our coats, but maybe that's because we were sitting next to a window. read more

First time dining here. Awesome location right at the Ilwaco boat docks. We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. The clam chowder was exceptional and all of the food was fresh and locally sourced. Try the fish and chips! read more

We came into town last minute. Actually it was about ten minutes before closing time. They were amazing. They gave us the best room! We hadn't eaten and were starving and they kept the kitchen open late for us. We had such a good time that we decided to stay a second night and they went above and beyond for us on the second night too. Thanks guys for helping us to have such an amazing weekend. read more

The Salt PUB, is not family friendly. The views were great, the food was overpriced (#13 for a burger and fries ) and the clam dish had 4-5 clams unopened (felt a little cheated given how many claims you get). But do not believe the hype, this is a bar/pub. When the guy at the bar that hitchhiked over from astoria and says he and the bartender used to bar tend together in Longview started talking, family time was over. Jokes like what does a hooker do with her a**hole before she goes to work, and several other derogatory comments about women? My wife and i ate as fast as we could and left. Most women would not fell comfortable in that environment and the bartender did nothing to bring back to family friendly. Not what we expected at 5pm on Sunday read more

Second time in, we experienced similar disappointing service. People who came after us got served before us, we were there for an hour plus and had to ask for water, menus, and in the end didn't get what the menu promised (i.e., salad had plain as opposed to candied walnuts and raw cranberries, pulled pork in nachos was very burnt, and didn't deliver part of our order). And there were no apologies for these shortcomings. Probably won't go back. Really wanted to like this place. read more

My dad and I split a tuna melt and a rock cod sand which. Both were super flavorful. The only thing is I wish the tuna was a little warmer. That being said the potato chips were fantastic and the French fries were probably the best fries I've had since I can remember! Definitely worth coming and eating here again! read more

I went to Salt when it first opened and though it was alright, it wasn't my favorite. Well, they have a new chef and what a difference! The food was outstanding. The menu is small, but I doubt that there isn't something that you would enjoy. I had the nightly special (New York Strip with bacon marmalade) and it was a good sized meal at a reasonable price. It was also "plate licking good". They are now doing a "brunch" on Sunday mornings that is out of this world. I just had the Sunday Morning breakfast and can't imagine going any where else. It's still a very quiet place, but as soon as word gets around, I think that it will be the "go to" place for a lot of people. read more

Had lunch here, loved the staff, loved the food! Great view of the docks and boats. Just a cool place all around. Wiil definitely be back! Loved it! read more

Our mid day snack of crab fritters and clam chowder made us wish we're were staying for dinner. Everything was prepared perfectly--quite possibly the best clam chowder we've had. read more

Yummy. They squeezed in our party of 7 quickly and the atmosphere was fabulous. Little confusing where we're supposed to sit, if they were getting us a table or we were supposed to dive in but once sat everything was wonderful. Little slow but good food takes a while. Great local beer list, sweet wait staff - even had a little baby help! - and yummy crab roll and great real tuna fish and chips read more

This place is so fun! The local beer from a Seaview brewery is tasty, and the menu has lots of interesting options. The harbor view and tasteful interior made for a great ambiance. I will definitely return! read more

Fantastic service and food. Can't wait to go back. The Peninsula has such a limited food supply for real foodies and we think Salt just may be a real find!! read more

Great food and drink, great service, great view and a beautiful restoration of a turnaround property -- the long hours of hard work from Layla and Jules and their kickass staff are clear in every careful detail. A triumph for them and for Ilwaco -- this is my new go to place! The Depot in Seaview better watch their back! read more

Nice view, pleasant sever. Took 45 to get a hamburger. We were one of only three couples in the place. Food was great. Need to work on cooking faster. read more

The food was amazing! However the service was awful. With pub style seating they get a lot of customers wandering through looking for seats. The only empty table was a woman saving six seats for people who never showed up. A table offered their table up to our group of 3, as they were just leaving. One waitress came over after the guys got up and began clearing the table, asking us to stand to the side so she had room to get around the table. The waitress making drinks behind the bar yelled at us, telling us we could sit down instead of staring at the dirty table. She clearly jumped to conclusions and we got off on the wrong foot. She then proceeded to explain herself to the tables around us who had seen her act out. Turns out she was our waitress. She was extremely unfriendly and didn't even try that make up for yelling at us with a little kindness. As the place got busier she continually got more and more flustered and I watched her snap at multiple customers. Thankfully we are locals and have seen many waitresses come and go. The gentleman and other woman waitress were very kind and helpful. Unfortunately the frustrated angry waitress looked to be running the show with her aggressive personality. Thank you Salt, we will be back but hope she won't be there. The tuna melts were wonderful. read more

Wow not impressed at all it has taken an hour and a half to get our food !!!! Waitress was so bad ..... I order the crab mac and cheese I got a little bit of crab runny cheese sauce . Corn beef was really bad.... way to salty... the Hamburger was cold and not prepared the way the menu stated it was not busy they had 3 two tops and 1 four top and a 6 top when we came in for dinner everyone had eaten except the 6 top . So there was no reason for our food to take so long . We asked the waitress to go and check , low and behold our food was ready. waitresses never induced herself ... the manager was not interested in our complaint. He was very rude about it. not ever coming back this was bad !!!!! read more

I can't tell you how excited I am to give a good review to this place. My wife is celiac and it's difficult to find a place on the peninsula other than captain bobs which is safe for her. Salt went out of there way to make the menu clear and double check every ingredient before serving her. And we have now been twice too confirm. I on the other hand to not have allergies so I was able to taste both sides of things. Here's what I can report. The service is slow because the place is usually packed. Get over it, you are at the beach. Enjoy the view, free wifi, check out boat names and order another drink when you see Shawn. Now what about the food? Well I can say that I've eaten in a lot of places and had a lot of burgers and fries. I can say these fries are something special and rank in the top 3 easy. The burgers have all been amazing but the jalapeño one is top notch. And there is nothing wrong with pork belly on tacos or a burger. The menu is simple, fresh and delicious. I will be back soon and often as this is what I expect when I'm at the beach. read more

Yum yum yum! Everything here is great, which goes with the picturesque harbor view and laid back ambience of this family owned and operated restaurant. The menu's variety meets the needs of everyone from pork-belly-topped-burger-loving carnivores to gluten-free-luscious-polenta-loving vegetarians. Seriously, the burgers are amazing, and the spring vegetable polenta is buttery perfection. Especially topped with fresh, locally caught Dungeness crab. Yum yum! read more

Stumbled upon and glad we did. Great tasting food. Great view. Great personal service

Great find overlooking the harbor. Good music, great drinks, food & service! Look forward to coming again.

Want a view and casual meal? This is the place. Look out over the picturesque marina while having the best nachos on the peninsula. Go for the pork it is yummy. The hamburger with bacon jam is very tasty. Food would be 5 stars...service is friendly enough, but feel a little forgotten once served. read more

Friendly service, a great view, and the best tuna melt we've ever eaten, made with fresh, local tuna. We'll be back!

I really enjoyed the view from the pub, and the locals were very friendly. I could see how this would be a fun place to hang out and knock back a few. However, I wasn't there to drink, I was there to eat. The steamed clams were very tasty! Nice flavor, but I wish there were more for the money. I ordered a salad and it came with whole cranberries, hunks of cheese, and almost whole lettuce leafs. I didn't think it was possible to have a "deconstructed" salad, but they managed to do it. The cheese was delicious, but, c'mon, whole cranberries? Who can eat those? Also had the crab fritters. Wow. The only reason I knew they had crab in them was because one of them had a piece of crab shell in it. They were awful. So, go there to knock back a few, and have a great time with the locals, but eat before you go! read more

After having some really rotten service at the Pickled Fish in Long Beach during my birthday trip, going to the Salt Pub in Ilwaco made up for all of that. Talk about a complete 180 from the past apathetic service at other places - these guys here clearly like their jobs, like people, and are on top of things from your drink through your food orders and more. Great sense of humor, very genuine, and will admit if they messed up an order in a very nice way that makes you forget they were at fault at all. Beer, wine and spirits were all awesome, and my pork belly burger was SO tasty. Wife had the crab mac & cheese and that's the only reason it is not a 5 star to be honest. It looked lovely but there was almost no taste to it at all, a common mistake made at restaurants with mac and cheese (this would have been so great if they'd added a chevre or something tangy to bring out the crab flavor so it wasn't just a bland sauce). Other than that, the steamers we started with were great, and the vibe was chill - not trashy but not hipster either, just welcoming and fun. Liked it so much we bought the t-shirt, oK? Looking forward to returning! read more

The first time we came here, the owner was there and suggested some fabulous dishes. So we came back at another time in the afternoon had to wait and wait and wait for somebody to acknowledge that we were there. We only noticed one person who was able to wait on tables. They were training a new Chef who under-cooked the fish. The people behind us were also complaining. They did not get everything that a hamburger should get like lettuce tomatoes onions pickles LOL . We complained to the waitress about the undercooked fish. She took it back to the chef who threw it on the grill and returned it to us in pieces that look like crumbs. Not acceptable. If you want a good restaurant I suggest you cook a brand new piece that looks whole and is completely cooked if you really want to be a fine restaurant. The View and the atmosphere are really nice but I'm going to have to think about returning. May give it one more try. The waitress was more than accommodating and very on top of things. Perhaps the owner needs to train the chef better when he's away. read more
