Easily one of the better salt breads I've had! What really sets Salt Bread Ko apart is the texture. The exterior has this delicate, satisfying crisp, while the inside is incredibly buttery, soft, and pillowy. That gentle crunch paired with the fluffy interior makes every bite feel so luxurious! I tried the Milk, Nutella, and Pandan Coconut flavors. The fillings were fun and delicious, although I personally found the cream a little too sweet and ended up wiping some of it off (still so yummy). I think I actually might prefer the original salt bread without any fillings, simply because the pastry itself is already so good! Service was very fast. There's 2 ordering kiosks. I like that they put each salt bread separately in their own containers. There's not much room inside the little store for waiting. These pair beautifully with a cup of coffee, especially to balance out the richness and sweetness. Overall, definitely one of my favorite salt bread experiences so far, and I'd happily come back just for that buttery, crispy, pillowy texture!
The interior of this little salt bread shop in K-town is tiny, with no space for seating inside and touchscreen ordering only. There's little space for a line inside, so it can extend out the door and onto the sidewalk, but the process does move quickly. There are a few tables and chairs outside. We ordered the two salt breads + one spread (truffle) and one savory sandwich each (me: heirloom baby tomato, him: egg sando). The bread is so good on its own; definitely try a bite or two without the spread to fully appreciate its soft, buttery interior and super crunchy butter-salt crust bottom. The truffle butter spread is delicious and has a strong truffle flavor-- a little goes a long way! Take the leftovers home to use later. I was so pleased with my choice of specialty sandwich. The tomatoes were so incredibly fresh, like straight-from-a-garden fresh. So were the chives in the savory, cream cheese-like spread. Combined with the perfect bread, it was an honestly perfect sandwich. I also got a matcha latte, which was decent.
I've had salt bread in Korea before and remember not being super impressed, but my friend loves Salt Bread Ko, so we visited while waiting for a concert at MSG. The store itself is not awfully big, but I think they did as much as they could to make it look cute and polished enough to want to stick around sitting on the window sill. The pastry cases showcase some of the cream dips that are available. My friend loves just the salt bread itself, so we ordered a set of three plain salt bread. It's a little bit pricey, but each piece of bread was pretty sizeable, right around the size of a Costco croissant. The shape was really cute and Instagrammable too. Because it was hot and fresh out the oven, the buttery smell hit me right away. The dough is pillowy and soft but with a pleasant crunch on the crust. The whole bread is very buttery, and I realized that the salt breads I had in Korea were usually smaller and had less depth in the butter fragrance, though my hand would be greasy after having a salt bread. Salt Bread Ko salt bread was also quite buttery but didn't feel overly greasy. It was a little saltier than I expected, and I found the extra salinity didn't enhance the butter flavor. But the bread was still quite nice warm and not too sweet. Overall, I do think the plain is the way to go, though if you're looking for a sweet dessert, the creams all looked quite nice.
I'm having trouble putting the full extent of my enjoyment of Salt Bread Ko into words here. We stumbled upon this location while walking one day, and were suddenly struck by the most incredible smell, freshly baked bread wafting down the entire block. We immediately knew we had to stop in, and I'm SO glad that we did. Their loaves are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, almost a combination of a croissant and a fantastic dinner roll. They are so buttery, flaky, and baked fresh all day. I'm very happy to report that I got a whole office of people hooked on this, including plenty of skeptics. I absolutely can't wait to come back, and I'm so jealous of anyone that lives close-by! The order system is completely kiosk based, which I didn't mind as our order, though large, came out in under 15 minutes. We ordered one of their sampler boxes, two caviar rolls, and egg salad, and the blueberry Yuzu - literally every single item was so delicious, but I think the plain roll might have been my favorite. It holds its own, which is very impressive. They were also fairly reasonably priced at about $7 per roll, with the exception of the caviar at $23.
Extremely fresh breads. Warm with a light crust and fluffy interior. Crisp bottom with just the right amount of salt. I did not think I was going to enjoy the breads as much as I did. They are as the hype claims. Line never lessened as we waited but it moved quickly. Seating is extremely limited so don't even expect it. Staff was courteous.
Good combo for a summer afternoon. Grease so please finished off in no time , if you are feeling fancy you could get some caviar but I am on budget so I get the free spread ( the everything spread) i think that tasted like caviar for a hot second. O the matcha latte you could order to wash down the butter. Overall, that day I would like to gain some weight.
TOO GOOD! I recently tried salt bread in Seoul and this is the real deal! I'm surprised this place didn't have a line out the door!? They have a lot of different flavor combinations here but honestly you can't go wrong with the plain/original. Super buttery crispy bottom that doesn't need anything imo. I got it with the chili oil butter which was really good though (ended up saving that to use on something else) Will be back!!
I LOVE salt bread and salt bread ko does not disappoint!! My friend liked the cream salt bread a lot but I am a softy for the original salt bread. It is crispy on the outside (especially the bottom you can hear the satisfying crunch!) and super soft and buttery inside. So good when it's fresh and warm. The heirlook tomato saltbread is also pretty good. But my true love will always be the regular salt bread. Out of all the dips, my favorite is hands down the truffle. It is a little pricier but it is so worth it. Not a big fan of the garlic one. The spicy one is ok. The line can seem intimidating but they are pretty efficient and get to you shortly soon after you order on the kiosk. Very little sitting room in and outside so be ready to take to go if needed.
Lovely lovely cafe in ktown selling great pastries and refreshing drinks. My bf and I tried their new strawberry matcha latte which had the right amount of sweetness. Their salt breads were spot on so tasty and the dips were so addictive to try. Staff was also super nice and knowledgeable on the food and highly recommend checking this out :)
Finally came here after hearing all the good things about this place. The menu is quite simple with a few salt bread options and drinks to choose from. The store is definitely tiny and it's meant for take-out. There is a ledge by the window inside that you could sit at but with all the foot traffic, it's not enjoyable for you or the other customers. When you enter, there's a couple of kiosks that you order from. Then they'll call you when your order is ready. I got the pandan coconut one and it was very good. There was a good ratio of filling to bread and it was not too sweet or dense. The bread was soft and fluffy and the slight salty flavor balanced out the sweetness. It is a bit on the pricey side in my opinion so this would be an occasional treat for myself.
Tldr: worth it if you come across a fresh batch Spontaneously decided to come here while I was in K-Town. It was 6pm on a Saturday, and there was a dozen people standing around when I arrived. Turns out they weren't allowed to order yet because a new batch of bread isn't ready yet. Luckily a new batch was ready in less than 10 minutes after I arrived. They started letting us put in our orders while the bread was cooling but gave a heads up that if we want fillings, it would take longer since they had to cool more. I only ordered 3 plain salt bread, so I was able to get my breads very quickly. I heard how they bake fresh batches regularly, but I didn't expect them to have a new batch less than an hour before they closed. Then again seeing how they have a queue at that hour means it wouldn't be a concern. I was still surprised to stumble into a new batch. When I got my bread, it was steaming hot from the bag. I struggled to hold on to it with the napkin provided. Omg it is the fluffiest bread I've ever had. I think this might be the freshest bread I've ever had out of an oven (steaming hot steamed buns are a different story). It was obviously oily from the butter, but that didn't bother me even though it normally would. The salt is obvious both from the outside and the inside which is also slightly saltier than I normally like. I like how the outside has a sturdy, not crunchy but obvious dry shell on the outside. Overall it tastes like a more decadent version of dinner bread rolls. I don't like the way they only let you buy plain breads at a minimum of 3 or 2 with a spread. I don't want any spreads, nor do I want to eat three breads at once. I was in a rush so only had time to eat one while fresh. I think I could eat 2 if I'm hungry but 3 would be too heavy. The butter heaviness and oiliness is less appealing when cold. I think it was the right choice to not get any spreads since the appeal here is the fluffiness, freshness, and richness. Spreads and fillings would force us to wait for the bread to cool down. Also the butter and salt is strong enough that additional flavors would be too much. If must, I guess choose something sweet. I'd rather they upcharge me to $5 or something to buy just one. Then again I don't like how it's that expensive for such a plain roll lol... I guess by forcing people to buy multiple they can ensure that batches can sell out and therefore bake regularly to provide that that appealing fresh baked goodness.
I was so ready for this to by hype but it was downright delicious. I got the sampler box and was going to save some for the next day polished it all off. I have never had bread so well balanced before, with fluffy sweet insides and savory, crispy outsides (but not too crispy, ya know!). The bacon kimchi spread was my fave, the perfect balance of bacon/kimchi.
One of the best things ever- I kept seeing it online and missed the cut off the first time I tried to go. It's safe to say this lives up to the hype The chili butter is sooo good- I can only imagine what the truffle one tastes like. I didn't expect the tomato salt bread to taste as delicious as it did. It comes with scallion butter and complements the tomato so well! The plain salt bread is also good, buttery, and light. Earl grey was good but the filling isn't as extraordinary as some of the other pairings. i'd love to try the pandan coconut one

Short line on a Sunday afternoon for fluffy buttery bites of goodness! Is it like the soft cloud like buttered saltbread of Seoul? No. But it is quite close! The saltbread is fresh and there's fresh bread piping hot that makes it out every top of the hour. We got ours HOT and perfectly accompanied by a kimchi bacon spread. We also got the sweet pandan and coconut bread and that was okay. The highlight is definitely their saltbreads! Give it a try! read more

love the salt bread (truly one of the best in the city!) but the wait to pick up my item was so long and many people who ordered after me got their orders before me which was frustrating read more

Salt bread trend finally reached New York, and I'm here for it. After waited half an hour, they finally let people in, freshly baked bread with salted crisp bottom, and plenty of spreads to choose from. I LOVE mentai anything , so I have to pick pollack roe, but at the end I think the sweet strawberry lychee is suit better with the saltiness of the bread. It's really good but considering the price ( i paid total $31.57 for 4 breads and 2 spreads +tips), long line, and the amount of salt ... won't be a regular, but I'm happy to bring my friends to try. read more

My new fixation! Salt bread is crispy and soft at the same time. They drop fresh bread at the start of every hour so it's helpful to go 10 mins before then as they sell out at about 20 mins after the hour. I recommend getting two breads plus one spread. I like the strawberry lychee spread and the pollock roe. I've also tried the earl grey salt bread but thought it was slightly too sweet. The nori sesame oil spread was okay. read more
The bake drop is at every hour so get there early. I came on a Friday around 1:00pm and there was a short line. It moves fast. There are two kiosks inside where you could order and it's a small space so no seating inside. Around 1ish they informed us that based on the previous purchases they were estimating to run out soon so they started to limit people to 3 salt breads only. Tried the regular salt bread and then early grey chocolate. Regular salt bread was good, buttery, toasted bottom, soft on the inside and a grey crunch on the outside. A bit disappointed in the early grey chocolate as I was expecting the inside to be more of a cream but instead it was really watery so it makes eating much more messier. Wish it had more of a creamy texture. read more
A drop of hot, out of the oven salt bread at the top of the hour every hour. Each customer can only order 3 breads when I visited. The ordering process is very simple as they have kiosks for putting in the order. I like the savory ones over the sweet ones. The earl grey, caviar, etc ones are specially made, so you will have to wait longer. As a beginner, the 2 breads + 1 dip is probably a go-to order. I tried the sesame oil and nori dip during my visit. I am not a huge fan of buttery bread with salt, but if you are in the area and would love to grab a snack, this place is worth trying. read more

This was the best salt bread / snack we got in NYC. We got to the place just in time at 4:30 with a short line and the last drop of the day was at 5pm. By the time it got closer to the hour the line was three times as long and there's no guarantee there was going to be enough for the people at the end. The staff was really nice and worked quickly to serve everyone. Our salt bread was right out of the oven and had the crispiest, butteriest bottom with a fluffy inside. FYI it is a limit of 3 salt breads per person but that doesn't include sweet ones. read more

This is my first time having salt bread and I was speechless. The way the bread melts into your mouth with every bite with the most perfectly portioned saltiness. I also had their pandan coconut, and that was a 10/10. Customer service was superb and made everyone felt welcome and comfortable especially with the amount of foot traffic they've got in the store. read more
Salt bread is taking over NYC! Salt Bread Ko serves Korean salt bread with a variety of different dips & fillings. I got to try their OG Salt Bread as well as two specials: Caviar with Whipped Scallion Cream Cheese, and Raspberry Lychee. My personal preference was for the OG Salt Bread, as the other two were a bit heavier, but overall this is a fun & unique read more

Food - This spot bakes fresh Korean-style salt bread every 30 minutes so you know these will be warm and delicious when you arrive. They are also using butter imported from France and sea salt from Korea so the quality is there. The salt breads are fluffy and the spreads and different fillings are delicious. Service - The staff were very friendly and answer my questions, explaining the different spreads, breads, and sandwiches they had. Vibes - Small but cozy space, with seating both indoors and outdoors. Follow on IG @2chenzeats for more food-related content read more

Loved Salt Bread Ko! I got the classic salt bread, egg sandwich, summer peach, and tried a few of their spreads, including the myeongnan (pollack roe), which was definitely my favorite. The bread is so fluffy and buttery with the perfect crispy bottom, and everything tasted super fresh. The staff was also so sweet. Definitely coming back to try more! read more

Spotted this place on social media and wow there were so many different variations to choose from. Line was long but worth the wait. Tried the original salt bread with the scallion spread and it was total game changer. Texture was incredible - pillowy and buttery in the inside. Not to mention, the caviar! The Black Osetra Caviar was an insane luxury flavor you don't usually find at a bakery. Definitely coming back to try the other variations. Highly recommend to those who love a good mix of sweet and savory. read more

Tried this place last week and decided to go back yesterday. I ordered two orders of the 3 breads. Last week I did the same and it came in a nice box with a handle bag. This time they separated them into two paper bags. I expected the same packaging as the first visit. I asked the GIRL at the counter for a bag and the Asian guy with the glasses making the bread wanted to add his comment with a snarky attitude by saying "Normally we charge you 30 cents but this time we'll give it to you for free, everything costs money". What customer wants to hear and be spoken to like that. Honestly left a bad impression on me and I won't be coming back as often as I wanted to because of him. read more

Absolutely worth every minute of the wait!! Salt bread ko is on another level; it's comparable to viral salt bread stores in Korea. The fact that we have something this good right here in the city is honestly such a treat. The bread is incredibly soft and chewy, rich and buttery in the inside, and has the perfectly crispy bottom that makes every bite satisfying. Tried both the original and the caviar ones, and they were both amazing. The spreads are also a must! They have such a diverse range of flavours that take the bread to a whole new level. My personal favorites were chili crisp and kimchi bacon - both bold, flavourful, and the perfect complement to the bread. Can't wait to go back and try other flavours! Definitely worth the hype read more

DELICIOUS plain and pandan coconut salt bread. The place just opened so it was a bit chaotic and long wait; but the owner was communicative and constantly let people know how long the wait is. Would love to come back to try more options and wish they have coffee menu to complement the bites. Overall a great spot and look forward to coming back! Note that there is a small bench seating indoor but no table. read more
