So I will admit, I was nervous. I mean, I had my share of experiences from Sephora and I was not always satisfied. So yes, I was skeptic. BUT...Moana did an amazing job with my hair and makeup trial! I loved it! She is friendly and hilarious. And she was honest with me. I showed her inspiration pictures and she let me know that the pictures I showed her were AI and reminded me that their skin is flawless and that she cannot make it exactly like the picture but she can work with what I have and make it beautiful in my own way. And she asked me questions and opinions on how I wanted to look. And the results of the trial session was amazing. For the rest of the day I walked outside and felt beautiful hehe. The day of, Moana, made me look and feel beautiful. I loved my makeup and my hair!! We were looking to book Heather, the owner of the business, and were given 2 options - a standard package to book with the team or the more expensive LUX package to lock down Heather. For the standard package, they said Heather was available, scheduled herself for our wedding, and it's rare that another bride will book LUX package on the same day and cause Heather to move off. So, we felt comfortable to go with the first option thinking they would communicate if anything changes. Nothing changed for almost a year - until the week before the wedding. We were notified that another bride is interested in Heather, but nothing was confirmed so we could still upgrade the package. We were in the middle of work meetings, panicked, and decided that we would! It's the week before the wedding and we would throw money at any stability as we knew nothing about the other artist. We took out our credit card and our heart sank when we saw "Ok so we just got booked for a LUX from the other bride for this day". They didn't tell us this was a race!? We were given only 34 minutes to decide!? We thought they'd at least have the courtesy to wait for the initial client to make decisions. Sure it's not *illegal* but it's definitely unkind for Delish to pit 2 brides against each other the week before the wedding. Our wedding coordinator suggested to Heather that she should call us. We heard nothing, waited, and only got text messages 2 days later that they would make it up to us by doing the trial at our hotel instead of their studio. Then, they charged us $30 for parking tickets, which we would not have agreed to if we knew about it. We also requested to see the artist's portfolio to get over the feeling that I was going with a fallback option. It took 4 days for Heather to say "Sorry, completely forgot to send those over". 2-4 days is not a long time in a non-wedding settings, but keep in mind that this was 1 week before the wedding. That was 4 days of me crying convinced I was not going to look my best at my wedding. We considered not tipping with all the stress they put us through but we decided that the makeup artist is not a part of the admin team, so we still did. In the end, the artist was nice but the tears and nightmare they put us through was not worth it.

I decided to stay with the booking so my bridesmaids would not have to deal with new pricing, although I now wish I had gone with the refund. Please keep in mind I booked a second separate company for myself and 2 of my sisters because I wanted to make sure I was 100% confident in my personal artist. The morning of the wedding was very stressful. Manda's team showed up late and did not begin until roughly forty minutes past the scheduled start time. My biggest issue is that hairstylist also told my mom the MORNING of the wedding that she HAD to wear her natural curls because straightening her hair type would not look good cause of the humidity and said there was no time for any other option (like a blow out, probably cause they had started so late), and she told my mom she could blow it out herself if she wanted and she could "maybe add some curls"). This really upset my mother since she is self conscious about her natural hair and wanted to feel her best for the big day. It created a really unsettling start to our morning and my mom was in tears. Thankfully, a stylist from the other company that I had hired for myself stepped in and helped calm things down. She was able to style my mom exactly the way she wanted and it held beautifully through the night and EVEN into the next day. Without her help the situation would have been extremely upsetting. Because of all this I cannot comfortably recommend this vendor, especially for those who have natural curls or want specific styling. Although Manda herself didn't do this, it's evident her team is not equipped to handle a situation like this.
