Came here thanks to Yelp! I was able to make an appointment really easy. Finding the place was a little tricky but there is parking on Akala Lane. I came on a Saturday and there wasn't any parking so I used street parking. The door to get in was locked when I came had to wait for someone else to enter the building just to get in. When I entered Kat was doing someone else's hair but was fast to accommodate me. She offers water, coffee, or iced tea! When doing my hair she was very specific with what she was going to do with my hair. She even threw in a deep condition! Prices were reasonable. I paid $50 for wash, cut, and styling. I found this salon on Yelp after having my hair botched at another salon, and feeling very self conscious about it. I texted Kat, and she was able to schedule a consultation. She is so sweet! She asked me to tell her about my hair, and she told me my options. She was also upfront about the price. She told me how much each section of the process would cost, and it was extremely reasonable. She told me she was a perfectionist, and if we're both not happy with the results, she would fix the problem. She made me feel so much better even before I got my hair done! She scheduled me in 2 weeks later because she was concerned about my hair's health since I had just gotten my hair colored a couple weeks before. She kept stressing that the health of my hair is her main concern. The day of my appointment, I was super excited! Kat offered me an assortment of beverages before she got started. Kat spent 6.5 hours on my hair total, and I think she even stayed a little past closing time for me! She had to strip the old color I had out of my hair, then lighten it more, then apply the blue. I trusted her, so I let her get creative with the blues she applied. She created a gorgeous dark blue to teal ombré that had so much dimension and color! Thanks to Kat, I love my hair again! She's so easy to talk to and she's so funny. She honestly and truly cares so deeply for her clients and their satisfaction, and she doesn't try to push products for her own profit. After doing extensive research via Yelp, I decided to go to Kat for a very long overdue haircut. The appointment process was easy, I actually messaged her here on Yelp and made the appointment that way! I walked to the salon but Kat did mention to that parking is free along side of the building. The building is on the corner of Akala Lane and S King St, I will post a picture of the signage on the building. Kat is currently in 202 but told me that she will be moving to a bigger space in a few months :) I arrived 15 mins before my appointment but Kat took me right away! She asked me what I was looking to do today and gave me her recommendations when I asked! I originally wanted just a trim but Kat explained to me how dry ends work and that I would need more than just a trim to have my hair looking healthy. With Kat giving me recommendations and explaining throughly what long layers, "taking off weight" and giving me tips on how to up keep my hair, I already knew I was going to be very happy with the haircut even before she began. Overall, my 5 star rating is based on the overall experience and for Kat for being so kind enough to educate me about hair, hair coloring and recommending a particular hair product. I don't know why I haven't posted a review yet...Kat is so fab! I've been there at least 3 or 4 times already. Some hair stylists are all about doing whatever they want or just copying exactly what the client wants without consideration to face shape etc....Kat listens and is super friendly. She works with you so you end up with a cut that matches you. I went there this weekend to get my hair colored. I was really excited as I've never gotten color before and I knew I wanted color but as to the specifics...well...I had no idea what I wanted. Kat listened to my rambling and we ended up going with sort of an intro to color for me instead of going all crazy for my first time. Working in an 8-5 office job means no crazy colors for me which I was disappointed about but Kat chose a red-purple hue that satisfied my color needs while keeping it office friendly. I've always felt that finding THE perfect hairstylist was such a hard thing but Kat delivers. I'm the type of person that goes in for a cut knowing I want to change things up but is very vague on details. Kat is spot on with the trends and is super personable and patient. Kat is amazing!! She did the perfect medium bob for my type of hair: thick, full bodied Asian hair. No other stylist I've been to has been able to shape it to fall as well as Kat has. I'm serious, my hair is usually a pyramid of frizz because of the humidity and she managed to tame my wild head. I've been to her once so far (in the process of booking my second!) and totally love her space - the Attic is quaint with a contemporary vibe and when you're there, you have the place all to yourself. It's so relaxing, I ktfo in the chair during blowdrying. She also styles it after the cut, so you leave feeling beautiful and confident! Also gives great tips on how to maintain and style your hair. Most importantly, I loved it when I woke up the next morning!!! No regrets!! Because her cut was so quality I didn't have the post-cut syndrome of crying cause it's gone. Love! Love love. Found this salon through Yelp and decided to trust all the 5 star reviews and I'm glad I did! Kat is super knowledgeable about hair and dedicated to giving you the right coloring for you. I came knowing nothing about coloring hair and Kat patiently walked me through the process of lightening and then coloring the hair. She also gave me tips for taking care of my newly pink hair and recommend some products. Overall the look came out amazing--I went for pink ends which took about two hours. I heard a lot of good things from friends who had already been to The Attic, so I decided to give it a try. After work, I went with a friend get my hair cut. Before we began, I let Kat know that I wanted something to give my head an overall nice shape and compliment my hairline but at the same time, I really didn't know what would be a good style to fit that. I can't even figure out what to do with my hair sometimes so at that point, I left my life in her hands, and by life I meant my hair. Kat has great insight and ideas that perfectly worked with the preference I was going with. I felt comfortable with what she had in mind for my hairstyle. She thinned my hair at the sides and tapered down the back in order to give my head a shape that frames my face, while still leaving a good length of hair at the top of my head and at my bangs so I could have some play when I styled it later. At the end, she added some hairspray and molded the top porton of my head and bangs to give me a final look. The end look was amazing! She really knew how to bring out my facial features as a guy and still be able to put attention on my hair style. The sides and back of my head were nicely trimmed to show a nice, clean look that I could pass as conservative when I wanted to but with enough hair length to work with at the top and bangs so I could put some flare on when I want to go on a night out with friends. I plan on coming here from now on for my haircuts. Definitely found my go to place! read more

Kat is awesome!! her salon is super cute. its in a great location too which is close to where i live, and right across the street from my favorite taco shop on King St. i was the only client there which was nice. she is super sweet and fun to talk to! she gave me the best haircut ive had since moving out here 3 years ago. she keeps up with all the latest trends and is good at what she does. she is also very thorough and makes sure that there are no weird pieces if hair sticking out, or too long/too short. her prices are very reasonable. she has a little board of the prices hanging on the wall and i forgot to take a pic. lol. the whole experience was great, and i cant wait to go back to get my bangs trimmed/haircut again! thanks Kat, you rock read more

I had high hopes for this place but Kat failed me. I informed her of my very busy schedule and she was able to fit me in. I had an appointment booked for Wednesday but on the morning of - she sent me a text telling me she got sick and was unable to come in. I told her hope she feels better and asked if I would be moved to Thursday. She refused to move everyone accordingly and didn't answer texts in a timely manner. I reccomend better places. read more

Go down South King Street & turn left onto Akala Lane, & there will be 4 parking stalls immediately to your right. Then go into the small doorway where it says "Off the Wall" & up the stairs w/ all the mirrors. Go even further down the hallway & you'll find it. Don't get lost like I did... First off, it's literally the cutest little salon you will ever see, ever. Secondly, I went to Supercuts literally the day before & I hated what they did. Got an appointment the very next morning & Kat fixed my wack haircut. She even asked how I wanted to style my hair at the end when EVERY single place I've ever went to just straightens my already straight hair without asking. 10/10 will be back when my hair grows out again. Kat is down to earth and takes the time to explain everything she does and the benefits of the products she's using. My sister and I have been loyal clients of hers since 2015 and can't imagine trusting anyone else with our hair. I first got my hair done by Kat several months ago. I was looking for a new hairdresser who could help me color my hair. I found her on Yelp and since it was nearby my house, I figured why not? I wanted a blonde balayage the first time I went in but she was concerned about the health of my hair if we had lightened it so much in one session. So it took three sessions but I've finally got to where I want to be and I couldn't be happier! My hair is so thankful that she had recommended lightening it bit by bit.
