The salon itself was fine, people were nice enough, Cristina(*) does a wonderful job with sculpting the acrylics. I went in and Shelley did them and I couldn't be more disappointed. Every time she asked "what do you think" "how do you like them?" I pointed out the same thing and she assured me it's a process, I'll like them when they're done. She took the forms off and the nails were too small for my fingers (you could see bare nail on all sides) and they just look sloppy, no symmetry. The nails aren't a smooth texture,I probably could have said more, but after kinda being blown off about my original concern every time I mentioned it? I'll just pay you and go. "So do you love them?" No, but they're done. Thanks. Update: I got a message from the owner, she blames me being a nail biter for the issues, this isn't my first time having nails. Small town shouldn't have to equal subpar nails. Do better. read more

Wished I looked at reviews on here first. I went in for 3 services. First I went in for a facial with Maria, excellent job on facial but texting during service was a mood point. Overall okay. Then followed with a pedicure and she did an excellent job and please with service. I had one more service, but I paid Maria first. I was somehow overcharged for my facial. I was quoted 100, but ended up somehow paying 120 for it. I'm not quite sure about my pedicure but I don't usually pay $50 for one and I moved from CA to here and got the same services and don't feel like I got any more for the money I paid. Now let's get to the 3rd service, my manicure by Shelly. Worst manicure of my life and have been getting them done for 10+ years so I have a little of expectation of service. Prior to even getting my manicure done, I noticed Shelly went out to lunch and started eating at her workstation where nails get done (unprofessional in my opinion). Then she helped herself to sitting on the pedicure chair next to mine while I was getting my toes done. That's fine I supposed. She uses the massage for her own use, I guess social distancing is optional in this salon as well. Masks not being worn correctly by employees. Anyways by the time I'm done with my pedicure and paid for it. She fell asleep and was snoring. Talk about being unprofessional. Now let's get to the actual service... She didn't know I had an appointment with her. Probably first sign I should probably run. But decided to stay, big mistake. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she grabbed the colors. The nail polish was thick! She started by filing the sides of my nails. Didn't ask for shape. Didn't even really file them down. Then she just started putting nail polish on! Didn't get my cuticles cleaned up, didn't get a nail trim (I like short nails). Now my nails are different lengths on either hand. Didn't get anything pre nail polish. Okay so she goes on, she puts nail polish on, super thick, put my nail in Uv light, puts on another layer of nail polish, super uneven. One of nails needs glitter. She gets some on my other nails but doesn't fix it. Okay fine it happens. Session is over. Pay her but super unhappy and plan to bring this to the owners attention. Still waiting for owner to contact me back btw. I paid $25 for this service and my fiancé could have just put nail polish on my fingers and it would have been better. Now three hours later, one of nails, polish already chipped. 2 days later, nail polish coming off. Now I get my nails done often and use my hands a lot, and get my manicures to last 2-3 weeks depending on who does them. These lasted 3 days tops and I did absolutely nothing to make them come off. I would highly not recommend anyone coming to this salon. I will not be back. Just because this is a small town does not mean service needs to be subpar. I probably even have more to say about what I observed about the professionalism amongst the hairdressers too but that's a different story. read more

If I could give Jessica and the owner a negative star I would. I went to see Jessica for a haircut and balayage. She started the appointment by being extremely late. After she finished with my hair I told her it didn't look like a balayage. She told me multiple times that it was and added curls to cover up her mistakes. (Please keep in mind when I originally went to her for just a cut she didn't curl it.) I went home and blew it straight and saw the disaster. I texted her originally to see about her fixing it, but didn't want to risk her further messing up my hair. I proceeded to ask her for a refund to which she refused after not replying for days. I called the owner of the shop and left a message to have her call me back, but she never did. I now have to go to another salon and pay extra for something that should have been done correctly in the first place. The cherry on top is that Jessica doesn't even have the decency to own up to the fact that she ruined my hair and give me my money back. And the owner can't even return a phone call. Talk about birds of a feather-run from responsibility. Be adults, take responsibility, own up to your mistakes, and right your wrongs. Since you both care about money above the happiness of a returning customer, I will not be returning, nor will I be referring anyone to you or this establishment. read more

Just moved to Fernley and stopped by the salon in person to book a hair appointment. A stylist walked up to greet me at the desk then told me that there would be no appointments for the next 3-4 weekends and none on Fridays either for about a month. Not sure how they stay in business making people wait 4-6 weeks for a haircut. Good luck with that! My hair is short too and I really only needed it cleaned up around the back and sides. I really try to support local businesses and spend $$$ on services because I have a professional job but I guess no one here wanted my business. read more

Don't just check reviews, check credentials, check continuing education and workshops, etc. If a hair stylist is not keeping up with the latest trends, then that stylist is not that good, regardless of how much she brags about herself. Just the length I like and always listens to what I'm looking for. And I never never lose a gem and I've gone weeks workout needing a fill. Christina does amazing job. Super gentle and very knowledgeable. Love the ladies they are always so cheerful and attentive to customers needs. Super happy when I come here and love the environment. Oh and when I get my hair cut here too it is always what I want and super gentle on my head and they always reassure with questions back. Love the ladies that give u good conversation while ur getting cut and waxed. It's never dull or s boring moment. The waxing experience is amazing and comfortable. Rating isn't for the salon itself. The Salon itself and all of the other ladies that work in there are nice and fantastic at what they do and is This review is for 1 person that works in it. Stay away from this one in particular. Rainn Brent Review (Hairdresser) Lazy and it shows in her work. Mediocre work overall and certainly not worth what she charges.(charged me) Not professional in conduct and demeanor. Lacks skills in application of closures and lace frontals. Just lacks knowledge all around about hair and hair extensions. Doesn't follow instructions refuses to do what the customer asks for in it's entirety. Rushes through the work. Therefore, leaves the work half done, incomplete and the customer unsatisfied. I had to do what i wanted done myself when i got home both visits of her installing hair extensions. I had to complete and do what she wouldn't! Just looks to make quick easy cash. Lacks proper work ethics. Has a new policy that enables her to make money off of customers without doing any work. Changes the price on you last minute. Acts like she knows what she's doing but doesn't. She's not personable and friendly. Lacks to establish trustworthy friendly bonds with reg customers. You can try to be nice and friendly, buy her lunch, recommend her to friends and family and she will still act like a cunt to you. If you have any issues with your hair after you already paid her she will ignore you and will not fix the problem. Treats customers like cash cows. You can definitely tell that she's just all about getting your money. She doesn't care to do a good job and make sure the customer is happy. Does not appreciate reg or new customers. I will not pay this clown another red cent to touch my hair. A lot of my hair fell out after having my first sew in done and taken out by her. She gave me a wash and supposedly a deep condition and my hair hasn't been the same since. She doesn't care about customers at all. I had an issue with my hair due to her lack of doing a good job. So, i sent her a polite text with a few pictures of the problem asking her if i could come in and get it fixed. She completely ignored me, the text and the problem. Did not respond with one word!Left me high&dry! So much for caring about a reg client. I'm from the San Fran Bay Area originally, sew in extensions/frontals are extremely common job/request there. Thankfully, I'm going this weekend to visit family, while I'm there, I'll find a real hairstylist to fix her screw up she stranded me with. My husband couldn't stand her when he first met her. He has an uncanny knack for reading into people and can tell if they are good people or not. I stayed neutral. However, i should have listened to my gut instinct and my husband's talent. I'm a nice polite friendly person. I tried to establish a friendly bond with this twat being that i had planned on being a reg. She isn't the best at doing closures/frontals but i thought, hey at least she get's the gist of what i need done and then, she pulls this s**t. She's very hard headed when it comes to following instructions. She absolutely refused to use all of the hair that i brought in. I buy the amount i want put in my hair. Human hair in very long lengths don't come cheap. Every bundle of hair unused is a waste of money. She's very wasteful. This last time she left 4 bundles unused due to rushing through the job. She has no head in trying to save the customer money either. I have been wearing and doing my own extensions for about 20 years straight now, i just never learned French Braiding. I do not recommend letting this clown into your life and most importantly, into your hair. Her work overall doesn't even look professionally done. She can't be trusted to do a job well done. She doesn't know how to treat people and most of all render good service for good money deserved. Next time i need a sew in done, i will find someone more experienced at doing hair, has a better attitude, more grateful/appreciative, with better social skills and professional conduct on Craigslist or if push comes to shove, book a real hairstylist in Bay Area, during my summer visits with family and get the curly summertime hair I love so much, done there instead. The only thing I did like about this hairdresser is that she didn't seem like she was too good to do sew in extensions. She allows herself to have range as a hairdresser. Others I have spoken to in the area just seemed too snooty to learn how and to do machine weft sew in extensions. She was the only person I could find that will do sew in extensions. read more

The staff here are all absolutely amazing! The shop is clean and decorated beautifully, definitely a step above all other salons in the town of Fernley. I get my nails done by Christina, she is simply amazing! No matter how difficult the design is she is always pushing herself to do exactly what you are wanting rather than other salons who do what they want. She has done my nails for almost 3 years and I am never once disappointed. Unfortunately I'm moving so I will no longer be able to get my nails done, but every chance I get to visit I will be coming to get my nails done. You will regret not going to this salon, and then ask yourself why you didn't go sooner! read more

I did not have a good experience with salon 95 I went and got highlights done to my hair. I try not to complain and just keep to myself but I just can't get over my experience. First I didn't find my stylist very professional at all. She took a personal call while she was working on my hair she didn't even bother to excuse her self for walk away which I just tried to ignore but she also was cussing while working on my hair which I did not appreciate. By the time she styled and was done with my hair I was just so ready to leave I didn't even pay much attention to it. I just home and the first thing my daughter and husband said was that my hair looked like it had green in it and I was mortified. I went into the bathroom where the lighting was good and sure enough my hair had hints of green through out it and the placement of the highlights on my head were horrible once I brushed my hair out and really got to look at it! So I had to wait the weekend and call the salon and they said that the owner would be calling me I was fine with that and asked that I be seen by a different stylist I didn't want to be with the same one. I was never contacted by the owner the original stylist contacted me and had a very rude tone with me saying she didn't see the green in the picture she took so she doesn't know how that happened and I needed to come back to her instead of trying to get with one of her other stylist I felt gaslighted and very offended by her and her attitude. I WILL NOT be going back to that salon and I wasted $150! read more

this was back in 2012, so it might have gotten better. i have never used the salon, but back in 2012 after i had been here a year or so and the local merchants had some sale event they were hosting out at the club house at the golf course. so i went out with my little dog and was checking out goodies to buy. i had walked the dog and had to walk past their "bling" trailer that was parked outside. two women were seated on stools outside the open trailer. i said, "hello!" and was about to look at their merchandise when i was totally snubbed by them. i assumed that i didn't look like i could afford to be their customer. so i continued on my way and have not darkened their doorway since. good customer service does NOT judge ppl by the way they look or how much money they look like they have. i ended up finding some really nice earrings from ANOTHER local merchant inside. when i walked back out to my car and said "BYE" they refused to acknowledge me again. i guess my money was no good there. read more

A little over a month ago, I decided to trust this salon, seeing as it had great reviews on this website, and I had always heard good things about them. My experience with them was, to say the least, below par. I would imagine if I had been blessed with another stylist, my issue would never have occurred... However, even though the stylists mentioned here and other review sites are probably pretty great, it must be said that the customer experience service here was very poor, in my case. I wanted a certain type of perm and cut-- I even brought a photo of exactly what I wanted it to look like. Loose curls, more heavily bodied at the top. Before I decided on this style, I had done countless hours of research as to how to do it myself at home, and I wish I had taken that path... One thing I learned was that it's harmful to your hair if you wash it too soon before-- just like they say you should do when dyeing. Another thing I noted that appeared on every hair styling website I went to, was the fact that with longer hair, you ALWAYS want to used different sized curlers at the top and bottom of your hair, otherwise it ends up looking like a mullet-- yikes, if you're a twenty-something girl! All that research aside, I am obviously no professional, so when I go to somebody who is paid to know what they are doing, I always trust their judgement above my own-- I would think anybody would. This story has the potential to be VERY long, but I will shorten it as much as I am able for people seeking out a good perm (especially a loose one). When I showed the stylist my photo I had brought, she had told me bluntly she was unable to do the large sized curlers because she "couldn't get them to work"... I should have taken that as a red flag, but unfortunately had not. She then went on to tell me the look that I was seeking out would still be obtainable with the medium curlers, it just wouldn't be quite as loose as the photo. I told her I trusted her, and that she knew what she was doing, so go ahead, as long as my hair didn't end up looking like a poodle or like an "old lady" perm (sorry! It's the only way to describe it!). She assured me with would be as close to the photo as possible, and we went ahead with the perm. Firstly, she washed my hair before she went ahead with it, even though I had already washed it that morning. This is likely the reason my hair became so damaged. Second, she curled all of my hair in the same sized rollers, even though it's pretty long-- About shoulder length, maybe longer. And last, she went through TWO defective boxes of chemical before she somehow came up with another box, after much time of searching and whispering with the other staff. She said it was their last box, and I had gotten lucky... But I noticed it was a completely different brand than the previous two boxes, and that made me worry... After the process was over, while she was taking my curlers out and rinsing my hair, I could see it in her eyes that it hadn't turned out as expected. Yes, maybe I was just nervous, but that's what I saw! When she took me over to the mirror, I immediately got tears in my eyes. It was horrible! My hair was a frizzy mess, and only curly at the very top! The bottom of my hair wasn't even a little bit curly... It looked NOTHING like the picture. It was certainly the worst perm I had ever seen, in my own opinion. And even though I was crying and shaking and told her I hated it, she didn't offer me a discount, or to fix it or anything, she just argued with me about the photo I had brought. She told me it wasn't a perm, even though I pulled it directly from a perm website, and that nobody else would be able to get that look with a perm either, even though at the beginning, she told me she could get the same look. She actually had the nerve to argue with me, and as I stood silent, trying not to bawl my eyes out, she said "Well, let me ring you up." I went to both the stylist and the manager with this issue and was even kind enough to offer to still pay for the product she used, but get a refund on the service, and both of them blatantly refused to do anything about it. The manager seems to me to be a very kind and VERY professional lady, and I understand that the stylist in question is an independent contractor so she handles her own business, but it all boils down to the fact that when I had an issue with my salon, I was not helped in any way to right the situation. I paid almost a hundred dollars to have my hair fried and look awful for at least a month afterwards, and to later be insulted and argued with... It is obvious to say I had a very poor experience here, and I'm sure it doesn't need to be said that I will NOT be coming back, nor will any of my friends or family. read more

The ambiance of the place is nice, but that's about it. The hair dye that they use washes out in 2 weeks (if that) ...and that is AFTER buying their 17 dollar shampoo and 17.50 dollar conditioner. The day following my service, I was straightening my hair and noticed the haircut was incredibly uneven. My boyfriend even said something about it (that's how obvious it was). I've learned my lesson and will not be returning. Save your money and go to Reno or Sparks. read more

Worst experience in my life! Paid $25 for a wax on eye brows and lip. Half of one brow was removed, extra hair stragglers were not plucked on brows or lip. Poor, horrible job. My friends and family noticed it, very embarrassing. I called the owner she asked me to talk to Candice who did the job, she only called when I called to say she didn't call. She did ask me to send pictures, I did, and only heard that she wants to see me. I just wanted a refund. After sending pictures, due to being out if town, I have not heard from owner or Candice. Lindsey Johnson, BeautybyLindseyJ, is probably the best hair stylist I have ever seen, or had the privilege of doing my hair, and I have had some really great people cut my hair. When it comes to men's cuts, I am looking for barber quality hair, not the basic great clips cut that leaves you looking like a mess and like you picked your cut from the "I'll take the cut number 3 please (out of a magazine)" look. I want that perfect sharp looking cut that gets woman's heads turning, and guys asking who cut your hair, because they want to look as good as you. Lindsey is top notch when it comes to knowing exactly how you want your hair, she makes sure you leave her chair completely satisfied with her work. She is also an amazing educator when it comes to how you should style your hair, and what products to use. Without her knowledge of products I wouldn't have found things like, Powder play, that totally make my hair from awesome, to exceptional. If you want the best men's cut in Fernley, NO!, not just Fernley, but in Northern Nevada than you will book an appointment with her. Also women, have you seen her portfolio, holy smokes. Talk about beautiful hair. I have never seen a stylist with the ability to manipulate color so well. She has some amazing clients who went from basic, to hot mama's, with really gorgeous hair. Also if you are looking for a more edgier look, than Lindsey is your girl, because wow, her vibrant color work is incredible. Lindsey's hair work, is nothing less than a work of art. Salon 95 has a great atmosphere as well. It is beautiful inside, and has some really cool merchandise that you can browse while you are waiting for your appointment.
