This snail salon not only does not offer quality nail services but will pick and choose when and what nail services to give you. I called at 9:30 in the morning to schedule a full set for 3:30 in the afternoon, after I asked if they had availability to which she said yes. She proceeded to say no to the service. That was the end of that conversation. Since there are limited nail salons in the small town of fernley, modern nails was my last option since I knew it would be more of a possibility to get in, their website states walk ins welcomed. Clearly it's a lie. read more

Came back to get my acrylics filled and change my gel polish. Was charged $40 for a fill.... That is a tad steep for a fill. It would have been $5 more for a new full set. Kind of ridiculous honestly. read more

Pedicure was just ok, price was way too high. Also ended up with a sore on the side of my foot from scrubbing.

Horrendous, I asked for nails, completely ignored what I asked for. They cut my natural nail after specifically asking they don't, The painting job was terrible. The overall environment was nice Looking but the service is terrible and takes forever just for them to eff up ur nails. Stick to the pedicure. read more

These women are so wonderful make an appointment is the best way to go, I have neuropathy and they take good care of me.

Modern Nails is my go-to nail spot recently! Every time I come here, I am treated extremely well and my nails turn out great. I have gotten both manicures and pedicures here, and have been satisfied each visit. It is a perfect combination of relaxation and efficiency; my nail appointment is always honored when I make one and I have never spent more than two hours in the chair, even if I am getting both nails and toes done. The prices are reasonable, too. The bonus is that Sydney is a great owner with an awesome personality! read more

I am unsure of the service. I assume walk-ins are okay at most nail salons. I contacted the business twice around 10 a.m. before making an appointment on the same day. The lady claimed that she did not have a 2:10 p.m. appointment on her schedule when I walked into the salon. She asked what I needed to get done. I told her I wanted to have these tips or fake nails removed. She told me to pick a color, and she will have me seated once she is done. I was in no hurry to have these nails removed but not have my my appointment for 2:10 p.m. was disappointing. I waited for an hour before I was seated at one of the stations. There were two other ladies working on other clients' feet. The service was okay but not well organized with the scheduling. read more

I had an appointment at nine at I walked in at 8:45 because the OPEN sign was on! Not expecting to be taken back to have my nails done.My appointment was at 9:00 so I figured I could sit and wait till she told me to pick out a color. I did not get her name. She did my nails two weeks ago in 15 minutes. I have never had gel nails done in fifteen minutes so that tells you the kind of service you get at Modern Nails in Fernley. Then when I came in too early she started complaining about me coming in so early when two weeks ago she was so nice and ok with me picking a color out then she was complaining to a customer of hers about customers showing up early and expecting to get in right away. I did not expect that at all! I was in shock that she would do that so I told her cancel my appointment that they had me scheduled for a Pedicure not my nails also and I walked out she started yelling sorry the owner is not here yet she is doing my nails and it was 9:05. I did not walk out do to the owner being late I walked out which I have never done before because of HER and I wish I would Have told her that. Very RUDE I will never go back!!! Worst Gell job I have ever seen. read more

I was not impressed at all. I was charged $57 for a fill and the shape is not the same on every nail. I was charged $36 for a toenail color change which is ridiculously expensive! That is the cost of a pedicure which I did not ask for or get. I won't return to this nail salon. The price was too much for the quality. The nail tech was very nice but again, the quality does not equal the price. read more

I went in today and asked for a full set ombré with pink and white. Even showed the lady a picture. She did my pinky and it was just a reg pink and white so I showed her the picture again. She wiped it off, changed powder, cut me and this is what I got. I'm so unhappy with my service. I told her they looked crazy. She laughed. I won't be going back here again. The lady that did my nails name is Kim. read more

Went to modern nails on June 7 to get my nails done. They came out great and I loved them. Not even a week later they started to fall off, I was so upset and I went back and the receptionist was trying to have them fix it that day but the guy said that I needed to come back tomorrow. Long story short, I'm out $50 plus tip and never got my nails fixed. read more

Today on May 20th I went into modern nails and I complain about my finger I showed him my finger and the pictures I took and they Called me a liar without actually saying those words and they said That it is my problem not their problem that it's My problem They are the worst nail place around I will never go Back. I went in for a fill yesterday and the lady was half way through my nails before she told me she didn't have powder. At this point I had no choice but to go with the gel polish, which I hate. I went home and was so upset. I started to notice that on every one of my nails you can see the lines from the polish. It was not smooth. Now today the polish is peeling right off. I can't even go in to get them fixed since they're closed today. Now I'm going to have to go somewhere else and pay more money. I'm out $45 for nail polish that I didn't even want read more

The technician who gave me a full set and gel color did an excellent and careful job. She was gentle and gave me just what I wanted. There are some imperfections in shape and length, but I'm really not picky. She asked me several times if it looked right and I just said yet. Some people may ask for more specific stuff. I'd say this is an excellent place with cheap prices! ($40 for a full set...) Oh, and they are open on mondays. Just not Sunday. read more

Jim and Sandy are really friendly and great at nails. I usually will go here for my fill. I am not doing pedicures here because they don't use the blade on your foot and I like my feet extra smooth. They have recently relocated to a space in the Fernley Village shopping center where Scolari's is located. read more

During my first visit, Jim did my pedicure. He did a great job. He spent a fair amount of time on the massage, which is my favorite part. My only complaint for that visit it that I chose a color from the China Glaze brand of nail polish and it did not last long. Each time I've gone back since I've always requested Jim and he does a great job each time. They have stacks of gossip magazines to read and the massage chairs are nice. $30 for a pedicure. read more

Modern nails is a great nail salon weather you need a mani, pedi, a full set of acrylic or gels they do it all. Sandy is my favorite. I've been going to her for the better part of like 12 years? She can alway make a mess look great if I've betrayed her and gone somewhere else. Oops! She still never gets mad and fixes someone else's messes. (The ONLY drAw back is they prefer appointments and if you just walk in usually ud get turned away to come back later that day or another day). read more

Bad service! Took my 87 year old mother for a pedicure, which I made an appointment for. When I signed her in, I even wrote "pedi only". They tried to upsale her for a full set of nails also which I never asked for or approved. I even left my phone number if there was a question or concern while I was next door picking up a couple of things from the grocery. When I came back to check on her 15 minutes later, the owner of the shop was putting a full set of nails on her, and no pedicure had been done. I was floored that they tried to take advantage of an elderly person like that. Completely unacceptable!!! No one should ever patronize this shop!!! What a disgrace!! read more

Best place I've gone for a mani/pedi! I told the girl who worked on me that this is the first place that didn't make my fingers bleed. Very professional and sweet staff! Both my hands and feet got wonderful massages and are so soft and pretty! I will recommend them to anyone in the area! read more

Got my eyebrows waxed here. Pretty standard but i wish they offered threading as an option. Pedicure was good. The massage chairs were nice. With limited options in Fernley, this is the best out of the few salons. Tip: book ahead of time. No walk ins rarely read more

My first time here and my daughter has been here a few times to get her eyebrows waxed. I will never go back! The lady made one shorter than the other and then when I said something she literally looked at me and said no it was like that already, I said oh really even though it's red because you waxed it she said yes. This place had poor customer service and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

I had my first pedi here and I must admit that I had no idea of what to expect, but I was very pleased with the whole process, and the massage chair, was a very pleasant surprise! One person noted that they dont talk much, which was great in my case as I was able to thoroughly enjoy the massage chair !! I will definitely use them again. read more

I am new to fernley, seems like a very friendly place. Went to modern nails, it is ABSOLUTELY unfriendly. I needed a fill with gel paint. This lady (ellen i think!!!) was not interested in how I liked my nails, what i wanted, very impatient 2-3 mins to pick color there was no conversation except to sternly tell me to relax. There was no salon talk between employees and customers. After swallowing half my nail dust (no fans) I tried to chat with her asked her politely "are u in a hurry?" she replied i have other appts other customers. Cut it short arrived 246pm for 245pm appt she started on my nails 252pm finished 336pm my goodness I guess I was in the way. Sat outside 25 mins for my ride NOT ONE customer came so not too busy after all 45mins later still no new customers. hmmm NEVER GO THERE AGAIN oh i forgot music in salon was great. read more

I went in to get a mani/pedi, I was really disappointed. I have issues with clean...wasn't impressed. I brought my own toe separators, files, and foot scrubber, nail polishes, she was like confused?? I explained that I had a "compromised immune system", that is the reason I bring my own stuff....wouldn't you know she leaves me after soak and goes to get the razor.......I didn't need the razor and I wouldn't use it anyway, I don't want to get cut and get an infection. Won't go back, very disappointment. And it was waayy to expensive for what I got. read more

Up until today, I would have given 4 stars. I have been going for about a year & I always make an appointment . I always request my technician . I came in at the scheduled time & either they overbooked or something because they switched techs on me. I felt like my request was not acknowledged. Ii was told that she could not do me after the other girl sat down to start. I had been soaking for 15 minutes. I didn't mind waiting , but not for someone else . I got out of the ped chair & left. I won't go back. I think prices are a little high, but it was close to home. As a customer, I want my money's worth & be valued as a regular customer. read more

This morning I had an appointment for a mani/pedi. First of all the tech was 10 min late getting to work. So I waited. Then didn't know they didn't take checks. So had to leave collateral until I came back with cash. But my real complaint is the job done on my nails. Looks like an 8 year old done them. They were done with gel polish so it has to be soaked off. The owner didn't offer to redo my nails or give me a break of any kind. Definitely won't go back. I'll drive to Reno or Carson if need be. What ever happened to customer service??? read more

Carrie at Modern Nails is great. I had scheduled an apt with Jim for a pedicure, but Carrie started. I asked about Jim and he was working on someone's nail. I was frustrated at first because Jim had gotten great reviews and the last time I was here the pedicure was poor. I was nice and let her know my concern and the results were amazing!! I will always book my apt's with Carrie from now on! It's been over a week and my feet are still smooth! read more

Never go here! My friends and I decided we wanted to get our nails done we were there from 4:20-6:00. My friend both got there's done, and wouldn't do what we actually wanted saying they had no time. But took others in front of us and gave them what they wanted. I wanted to get a new set to get a new shape and they told me no. They argued with my friend that the colors she wanted would take to long. They close at 6 o'clock. My others friends nails looked as blops an we're all misshaped, none of them look the same. An myself had waited an as soon as one lady was open she started cleaning. Honestly was a waste of time an money. read more

wife took me for a pedicure she bragged about, we went for the most expensive service $60 each I think ,found the girl didn't even trim my toenails and instead of a longer foot massage (which I would have liked) the girl actually just waved a tool around my toes without even doing anything to them to use up the time I'm assuming , my first ped and my last I challenge other customers to watch closely to see if they do the wave with their tools to them also. I know I saw what I saw. my wife wanted to treat me , so I told her it was nice! read more

First time customer and got a pedicure. very happy with the paint and smooth feet. took almost an hour. the massage was a little soft for my taste but good. It was $30. I'm used to Las Vegas prices where I can get a pedi for $20 but I would go back. read more

First time today called for an appointment and my girl did a great job. I got the basic pedicure and manicure, and upgraded the mani to a gel. It came to $55 plus a 20% tip it is a high price to pay but im happy with my nails. It didnt get 5 stars because the salon isnt that pretty, and they use a straitup cheesegrater on your feet which works but is weird maybe its a special nail salon tool that looks just like a kitchen tool. When i went to wash my hands in the sink there was that cheesegrater and foot scrub sponge thing in the sink. I hope at least they were the ones used on me and not another customer i tried not to touch them. And my nail tech was sick. Dang Im critical. read more
