Taku taku salmon and Ceviche De Pescado
    Adi O.

Arrived from my trip yesterday hungry and was looking for a place to eat close to the airport. I found this Peruvian spot on Google maps; when we arrived , It's a little hole in the wall but it feels authentic with the decor of the restaurant. We came in to eat during slow hours as there was maybe two tables inside, so service was fast and attentive. I ordered ceviche and salmon platter. The salmon was fresh and flavorful as well the rice and beans. I even brought my left overs home. The only problem was the ceviche, it tasted watery as opposed to that thick lemony ceviche sauce I'm used to from Peruvian ceviche. It also lacked flavor, not enough salt and spices. (My husband is Peruvian so I would know) Aside from this I had a good experience.

    The trio!!

We were in the mood of some Peruvian food and we were in the neighborhood and decided to pass by Salmon and Salmon. This place was one of the first and long lasting Peruvian restaurants in Miami. The interior gives off the old school nautical vibes and the warm and friendly staff sat us down immediately. A friend of our recommended that we ordered their fried fish bites so they had a special called the trio which is three samples of their appetizers. So we ordered the fried fish bites, stuffed hass avocado, and the causa. The causa had chicken salad which was ok but the taste was overpowered by the thousand island dressing put on top. The fried fish bites were good but we had better, while the star of the trio was the stuffed avocado. The avocado had the perfect texture smooth and the stuffing was a delicious seafood salad. Then the last dish was their fish ceviche was way too acidic. Like I mentioned prior Salmon and Salmon has been around for a long time but with the abundance of Peruvian restaurants in Miami in the last couple of years it gotten harder to stand out.

Fish ceviche in leche de tigere

This is a little hole in the wall in Miami. When you sit down, our waitress Rosi who was super attentive, Rosi came with fresh bread and butter and a fish like spice sauce, which was delish. We started with the ceviche mixto. The fish was cured in leche de tigere. Then I had which up to this point, the best fried corvina fish of my life. It was light and buttery sprinkled with parsley for garnish along with fries. My friend had the marinero soup which was packed with lots of flavor and lots of seafood. Can't wait to go back and try other things on the menu. I definitely will be back. Do not leave Miami without trying the seafood here it's a must.

This place is definitely off the beaten path, but amazing! If you are looking for Peruvian food, this is the place for you! The restaurant is small, so call ahead if you can! Great service and a delicious meal!

Cozy family restaurant on a small strip mall. The food was fresh and delicious. The service good.

*** hidden treasure alert *** Would give 6 or 7 stars if I could. I can't even start to explain how good this place is, it is just ridiculously good. This is a tiny 8 tables Peruvian Seafood place, it is a family business founded in 1979 (43 yrs of operations at the time of this post) INCREDIBLE! The food was simply amazing, we started with a chicharrón de calamar (fried calamari) which was fried to perfection, then ceviche de pescado (classic ceviche) served with all the right elements of a traditional ceviche including the choclo (big Peruvian corn) and batata (sweet potato), and third we went with a Salmon a la plancha (salmon filet). It was just spectacular! Prices are very reasonable, I would say on the lower side for the freshness and high quality. Service was nice and friendly. Absolutely recommend

First time I came to this place was a few years ago and I thought it was amazing but recently came back and was a little disappointed with the lomo saltado- it had a weird burnt like flavor. We also ordered the bistec encebollado which was okay but nothing to blow your mind. Service was very attentive and friendly. This is a little hole in the wall with very little seating. I would give it another chance just because they've been opened for so long- maybe it was a bad night.

I was actually running extremely late to the reservation time but they still honored it and my friend was seated immediately. When I arrived, I was famished so we ordered a bit of everything to start - the vitrola. It's their Cuban appetizer sampler with empanadas, plantain chips, croquettes, and others. It is a great way to try a bunch of items. My friend and I also ordered the ropa vieja and the Cuban sandwich to share. The ropa vieja is life changing - order it, you will not be disappointed. So flavorful and tender! The cuban sandwich was also really good, but a bit cheesier than others I have had. There was a ton of live music happening in both the front and the back of the restaurant. It is a very lively, fun place. The only downside is because it is so busy, the service is a little on the slower side but honestly who cares. You are there for the food and vibes and have nothing to do!

We ordered a ton, and right off the bat: if you love croquetas and empanadas, order extra. They're on the smaller side and come individually, but they are so good they disappear fast. The beef empanadas were a 10/10 perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chicken empanadas didn't hit the same for me, but the jamón croquetas? Absolutely insane. A must. For appetizers, the prawns al ajillo were delicious super flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was good, but not my favorite. It leaned a bit bland for my taste, even with the sauce. Now, the must-get: the carnitas with pickled onions. Easily one of the best dishes of the night so flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, we had the ribeye steak and arroz con pollo, plus sides of tostones and yuca. Everything here delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right not overly salty. The arroz con pollo was phenomenal, the kind of dish you could eat every single day. The tostones were crispy and tossed in garlic, which took the flavor to another level, and the yuca was melt-in-your-mouth good. I also ordered a mojito, which unfortunately was very watered down, I barely got any of that classic mojito flavor. Service overall was solid, especially considering how loud the restaurant gets it was honestly hard to hear each other at the table, so shoutout to our server for keeping everything straight. The appetizers came out quickly, back-to-back, which we loved. The only downside was the wait for the entrées they took quite a while after we finished the apps, even though we ordered everything at once. Overall, amazing food, great energy, and definitely worth going just be prepared for a lively (and loud) atmosphere.

I used to go to the club in my college years. After the hotel was sold, the club moved to the Rocky Horror venue in Coconut Grove. In 1999 after that closed too, the club became a roaming pop up at different South Florida venues. Which is how I came to be at Bar Nancy in Little Havana on a Saturday night. They host a monthly Kitchen Club night. Almost everything was closed in Little Havana by the time I arrived so it was surprisingly easy to find metered street parking only two blocks away. Bar Nancy did not have a cover charge which was nice. The bar is decorated like a pirate ship with many nautical touches. It is named for the brigantine Nancy, which transported war supplies during the American Revolution. The room the bar is located in was small, dark, hot, and crowded. Many people enjoyed themselves on the dance floor in front of the DJ. They also have a backyard area that was popular. My favorite room was the one between the two. It was decorated like the Captains quarters with a couch and comfortable chairs. I could still enjoy the music and more importantly, the air conditioning. During the night I had a delicious Amaretto Sour. Despite the dive bar surroundings, it was a hefty $15. While that is expensive for a cocktail, it was a small price to pay to relive my youth for one evening.
