    I went on Nextdoor to search "AC repair", and to local, small businesses came up, and I left a message for the first one, and the second one picked up the phone. It was HILDA, of Salgado AC & Heating, and I told her of my experience and she was friendly, attentive, empathetic, and she assured me that I would be well taken care of. And then she proved it. She said she get back to me after checking with MARTIN SALGADO, propritor AND person in the field, performing the repairs, a career of over 20 years. 20 minutes later she calls back, "Martin is doing a repair in Los Angeles but is finishing up early in says he can be there by 4 PM (I'm in Riverside). She called me back and says, "he'll be there by 2 PM". Then texts me to say he hit a bit of traffic and will be 20 minutes late. (Who does that?!) And then Martin arrives in his new, white company van that he says is soon going to have colorful rap on it for more visibility. With him as his assistant, Jake, a newer, but very experienced technician in his own right. They were polite, friendly, and grateful for the Pepsi's I offered them. He went to work, removing panels, disassembling casings, testing things with wires, studying digital readouts, and first, there was a capacitor that needed replacing, and he quoted me a very acceptable price. We got it running again (but upon inspecting the unit outside, he found that that there was way too much Freon pumped into it (by the Right Time Home Services people), and it should have been, for my size unit, at around 125, but was instead hovering north of 185. So he started releasing some of the Freon, and quite a bit was being released but the number wasn't going down quickly enough, and he concluded that the existing Freon must be contaminated, which sometimes happens if you store the Freon like a gas instead of a liquid, or a liquid instead of a gas, I don't really remember, it got a bit technical, and he proved what he was saying by spraying my Freon on his arm and he knew he was right because there was no burning. (He risked his skin to prove his point!) He then offered me 6 pounds of new Freon at a very reasonable price. And then the pipe that was supposed to get a lot colder wasn't getting colder and wasn't building up the telltale condensation, so he opened up the unit again to check the compressor, and found it too hot to the touch, a telltale sign. Using my garden hose, he cooled it down. And then set up for a compressor test, which was scary, because if it wasn't working, we are looking at a $4000-$4500 fix. he hooked up the wires, or whatever he does, and tested it. And he said, "The compressor is good." Now, I ask you, who else would do that? It would be so easy for somebody to say, "your compressor is shot", and charge me four thousand dollars. At this point it was getting pretty hot outside so I went back inside while he continue to jumpstart the compressor. I don't know what that entails, but I think he was unplugging it, plugging it back in, restarting, whatever he did, he came back inside and said it's working. he offered me a new air filter as they always do, but he looked at mine and said it still looked pretty good, again who does that?! NO diagnostic fee. I only paid for the 6 pounds of Freon, a new capacitor, and I don't want to tell you what I paid because he might have to raise his prices at some point, but even if I pay double, it would be worth it. (Alright, I'll give you a hint - it was LESS than $300!) from here on out, I am calling nobody else except Martin Salgado (and Hilda!) of Salgado AC & Heating. Almost forgot, later that night, Hilda called me back to make sure I was happy and everything went smoothly. Again, who does that?! Salgado AC & Heating does that. I was so pleased I just had to write this review. And now you can benefit from it too. Support small businesses, support good people. They really do care.

    Martin came to installed a new AC unit at my home. Very professional at his job let me know step-by-step What he was doing showed me the problems he found before installing the new AC unit did a very clean job. I highly recommend his work.

DOMENICK ALONGE (project manager) - Reviewed findings from Alfred, provided detailed indication of issues and resolution options with several quotes. Here's why our experience has been superior to previous companies: All three specialists were not only punctual, friendly, and courteous, but they took their time to evaluate our issues in CLEAR layman terms corroborated by photos, and showing us exactly where the problems were in person. We previously obtained a quote from a large corporate company and was left feeling dumbfounded and stressed as they described the nature of our problem in engineering, technical jargon that made absolutely no sense, including astronomical quotes without explanation of the work entailed. We continued experiencing intermittent issues with our AC and heater so we called Friends & Family based on their excellent reviews. My air conditioner went out years ago and they changed it out. At the time they also wanted to do my furnace I told them no which my furnace was still good for another couple years and then they came back changed a part on it saving me a little money but the. It went out so I had to shell up the big bucks for it. The value here I do think is better than other places but I wish they would work on the upsell a little bit because times are tough and we don't need that but I do trust this company for things I do need.

He took the time to answer all of our questions and helped us choose the right system for our home without ever making us feel pressured into upgrades or services we didn't want or need. That level of honesty and transparency was really appreciated and refreshing. The installation itself was quick, clean, and extremely thorough. The team kept everything organized, communicated clearly, and provided photos, videos, and detailed explanations of the work being completed, which gave us a lot of confidence in the quality of the installation since we know next to nothing about AC systems despite needing to use ours a lot out here in Riverside. We went with a new Ameristar heatpump unit they recommended, and the difference is unbelievable. It's incredibly quiet, noticeably more efficient, and completely blows our old Lennox system out of the water. Everyone on the team was courteous, professional, and genuinely helpful the entire time. He took the time to clearly explain the differences between the various systems and helped us understand why certain options made more sense for our needs. What stood out most was that we never felt oversold. He was honest about what we needed now, what could wait until later, and even what we should avoid doing and why. His attention to detail and knowledge of the products and design process reflected the high level of service JMartin aims to provide. He also identified a concern that other vendors missed, which gave us additional confidence in his expertise and in proceeding with JMartin. He was able to secure a price lock for a project we plan to do later in the year, ensuring we won't be affected by the upcoming price increase. Shay completed our first scheduled maintenance within the promised timeframe and was both informative and knowledgeable during the visit. From the beginning, I spoke with Anthony, who I believe is a manager or scheduler. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the issues I was having with the furnace. He was patient and explained the different parts of the furnace in a way that made sense, instead of it all sounding like a foreign language. He was also very responsive and text-friendly. On top of that, he gave me advice to contact my warranty company and get written confirmation of what they would and would not cover regarding costs. He didn't have to do that, but he made it clear he didn't want me spending money unnecessarily. The technician they sent was equally great. His name was Andrew, and he was on time and communicative throughout the entire process. I was at work, and he provided constant updates and photos. He went above and beyond with the service and even swept up the garage before leaving. All in all, I would absolutely recommend going with these guys. I know we're all trying to save a buck here and there, but you truly get what you pay for. These guys are top of the line. The first time, the technician had placed a sticker on our AC unit, so when cold air stopped flowing this time, it was easy to call them. The process was effortless: customer service answered right away, their system recognized my address from my phone number, and within an hour (on a Sunday evening!) they dispatched two technicians. I also appreciated getting a text notification with their names and photo IDs so I knew exactly who was coming. The diagnosis wasn't the news we wanted to hear -- it was time to replace our 12-year-old AC unit. We had already refurbished the motor last year, which gave us one more season, but it had truly reached the end of its life. What I appreciated most was that we never felt pressured into buying a new unit, even though it was recommended. The technicians walked us through our options: spending over half the cost on a refurbished unit with no warranty or going with a brand-new system that came with one. After thoughtful discussion, both between my husband and me, and with the technicians, we decided to move forward with MSP's recommendation and financed the new unit. The paperwork process was smooth, and they were even able to secure an installation appointment for the very next day. As a thoughtful touch, they even offered us a hotel stay to avoid the heat, though we decided to wait. The next day, two installation crews arrived right on time. One worked in the attic while the other installed the unit outside. Both were courteous, respectful, and professional throughout. The real reason I give MSP five stars, beyond their product and service, is how they handled aftercare -- and the glimpse I got of how well they treat their employees. After installation, my husband noticed the duct bracket hadn't been done exactly as he'd requested. Since we have a Belgian Malinois who chews on everything, he wanted the cables covered with a custom metal bracket, which had been discussed with the technician. Clearly, there was a miscommunication. I called the next day and spoke with Bella (the manager, I believe). She explained that this was technically outside their scope, but she listened carefully, acknowledged the issue, and immediately sent her crew back the same day to resolve it. I appreciated that she didn't get defensive, but instead valued our input and honored our trust. Finally, I want to applaud MSP for the way they treat their employees. All four team members who helped us mentioned how much they enjoy working there, and it shows in the quality of their work. On top of that, we were thrilled to learn that the X Series unit we purchased is the kind of product that could be sold at a much higher rate through a corporate AC company (according to one technician who used to work at a corporate), but MSP offered it at a fair and reasonable price. That kind of transparency and value is rare. I truly believe happy employees and fair business practices translate into happy customers, and this company is proof of that. I wish them continued prosperity.
