I'll start with the punch line: Picco Air Control should be your designated AC service provider, period. I first got in touch with John (owner) about 9 years ago on a hot summer day. I switched the thermostat and AC wouldn't start afterwards. Went on Yelp and scrolled through the service provider pages like most of you do, and I stumbled across Picco. Called John but he was busy at a job site, but he asked me to text him the issue and he quickly replied with his thoughts and the possible root cause. It boiled down to a shorter fuse in the furnace. Instead of coming over and charging me a heavy service charge to simply replace the fuse, he directed me to buy a replacement for just a few bucks and gave me detailed instructions on how to replace it myself, which worked out perfectly. That's when u realized I found a trustworthy and honest provider, which is nothing short of finding a needle in a haystack these days. Fast forward to this summer, I started having cooling issue with my unit. Another trusty AC tech friend had helped me with refilling the refrigerant, but the unit was just too old at this point and kept leaking it out to the point I had to refill the freon 3 times in a span of just 4 months. That's when I remembered John and reached out to him for help. Expertise and Knowledge: John is incredibly knowledgeable, thorough, and able to quickly diagnose the issue and offer up solutions. Responsiveness: Super prompt response times, and John was very punctual for all our appointments as well as all the calls/text communication. Honesty and Reliability: The single most important factor in my opinion. The cost to replace the unit isn't cheap, but I genuinely felt I was treated with honesty and transparency. I know exactly how much I was paying and the pricing breakdown. John wasn't trying to upsell me anything. In fact, he was very cognizant of the cost and even gave me pointers to compare other services providers and what to look for in pricing. I sensed John's honesty and integrity, and that's what ultimately led me to give him the job. Customer Service: Going above and beyond is the best way to sum things up. The entire experience, from the very first text message to helping me set up financing and with great details and handholding, John was there for me, day and night. Alex was so nice and kind he went out of his way to tape up the pipe for my other unit after years of UV and dog abuse. My AC unit was acting up in the sense that it would stop cooling after the initial cooldown but would start cooling again later. I found Picco Air Control on Yelp after scrolling through all the big guy's names that appeared at the top of the list. After reading a number of the reviews they had, I decided to give John a call on a Saturday afternoon not expecting a call back until Monday. Instead, he reached out right away, and we set up an appt. for Sunday, the next day. After checking out the outside unit, John found the problem, quoted me the price to replace it, and promptly did the repair. AC unit has been working fine ever since. After the repair he cleaned up the internals and made some notes on the back of the panel and fixed a couple of minor issues that he saw that could have caused me future problems down the road. Alex initially came out two weeks ago to replace the capacitor and recharge the freon, even though we're a bit out of the service area. The unit was working well afterwards until the fan stopped spinning. I text John and since he was in the area, he came by in 20 min - talk about service! He immediately diagnosed the problem as a faulty motor, which is expensive. However, he only charged me the difference in price from the previous capacitor & service that was done two weeks ago. We noticed water stains on the ceiling of our bedroom recently and knew we either had a roof leak or ac leak. I texted John last night and to my surprise, he responded back almost immediately!! These guys are amazing. Our house was getting really weak air flow. They replaced the ducts and got powerful airflow into my office at the far end of the house. This man deserves 100 Stars! My AC needed repair on 9/2022, and John was able to make it to me on the same day I contacted him! He repaired certain parts of the AC and it worked as new. Then, on 7/1/2023, my AC went out, and I called John again. He came by the same day but this time, the dreaded Evaporator Coil went out. He explained in great detail what was needed... I researched the issue and John was telling me the 100% truth... Basically, when the Evaporator Coil goes out, you need a new system. I hired him and he finished on the same day 7/3/2023. Afterwards, he gave me all the info to register the new Unit and Evap Coil for the extended warranty and sent me photos of the product installed in the attic. He explained that our old unit was too big for our house and wasn't working efficiently and actually saved us money by explaining how a smaller unit will work better. We had an issue where our thermostat was not displaying information until late mornings so have been unable to turn the air on as soon as we would have liked. My husband has always handled issues like this but has been unable to do so due to a stroke. I found John Picco on YELP and liked what I read. I was not disappointed. The issue we had was a bit more complex than just a thermostat issue but he patiently educated me on what was going on and then offered various options. Our A/C unit decided to stop running mid-afternoon on the hottest Saturday this summer. Using Yelp, most other places were either booked or had Tuesday as the next available appointment.
