Our old HVAC system was installed in 2004: two SEER 10 single-stage systems, one 3-ton and one 4-ton, along with two furnaces. They had actually been very reliable and were still running well, but comfort had always been their weakness. Back in 2022, I started getting quotes to replace them, mainly from contractors who worked with Daikin. I was already very familiar with Daikin because I had used a Daikin VRV system overseas for about six years, and I was extremely happy with its comfort and performance. So I have always had a soft spot for Daikin. At the same time, I have always believed that with HVAC, the quality of the installation and after-sales service can sometimes be even more important than the equipment itself. After talking with several contractors in 2022, I wasn't completely satisfied with the service side of things. The pandemic was also a factor, so I kept putting off the replacement until 2026. This year was especially hot in Orange County, and my wife started complaining more about the comfort of our old systems. I contacted three contractors--two that primarily work with Daikin, and the third was Aced It Cooling & Heating. I like Daikin, but in the end I did not choose Daikin. I chose Aced It. More accurately, I chose the installer and the service team. If Aced It had offered Daikin, I probably would have chosen them as well. Brand was not my main deciding factor. Trane, American Standard, Carrier, Daikin, and Mitsubishi were all brands I was willing to consider. What really won me over was Caleb's inspection and the way he explained everything. Aced It was the third company I met with, and they did several things the first two companies never did. First, my requirement was a pure heat-pump/inverter system. Caleb was the only one who actually opened my electrical panel to make sure there was enough capacity for the conversion. Second, he was the only person who asked me approximately how much I spend on electricity each year. Third, he spent probably three times as long inspecting the attic as the other companies. He took pictures of the existing furnaces, showed them to me, explained the condition of the current equipment, and walked me through exactly how they planned to modify the system. Fourth, Daniel came with Caleb to the initial inspection. They explained that Daniel would be the person primarily responsible for future maintenance and service, rather than having a different technician show up every time. I really liked the fact that the person who would be servicing the equipment in the future was involved with the project from day one. Fifth, their scheduling was noticeably better. Instead of giving me a two- or three-hour arrival window, they gave me a 30-minute window, and about half an hour before the appointment they narrowed it down to approximately 15 minutes. After listening to Caleb's explanation and receiving the quote that day, I didn't negotiate the price at all. I decided on the spot to go with them. I actually had an appointment scheduled with one more contractor, but at that point I felt there was no reason to continue shopping. What happened afterward confirmed that I had made the right decision. Edgar, Shawn, Daniel, and Julian completed the installation in a day and a half. The installation of our new American Standard inverter heat-pump systems was extremely professional. I'm not going to spend too much time praising them simply for being professional, because I believe that should be expected. But I will say that it has been a long time since I have seen this level of workmanship and professionalism. As for the equipment itself, so far I honestly don't feel a major difference in comfort compared with the Daikin VRV system I used before. Caleb recommended a very good option for us. Before the installation, I was somewhat concerned about comfort because I had never used this particular American Standard system. After using it, however, I have been very impressed. In terms of quiet operation and the smooth, gentle airflow, it feels remarkably similar to the Daikin VRV experience I remember. Of course, at this point I can only comment on cooling; I haven't had enough opportunity to properly evaluate the heating yet. Ultimately, the biggest reason I chose Caleb and his team is that I believe they will take good care of my HVAC systems in the years ahead. The brands I mentioned earlier all make good equipment. In my experience, many HVAC problems come from the installation itself, and poor service afterward can turn even a good piece of equipment into a frustrating experience. So this time, more than anything else, I chose a team that I felt I could trust. This is probably the longest review I have ever written. While writing it, I even felt like I might be getting a little too sentimental! So our AC/heating has been challenging us for some time now and we finally decided to get it checked out...we looked on yelp and found Aced It. Read the reviews of all others and figured we'd give them an opportunity to help us figure out what was happening and what the course of action would be. We made a phone call and had an appointment scheduled the next day at 11am. Our technician, Marcus, showed up early and got right to it. We live in a condo with some tight spaces and our unit, we knew already, was outdated and going to require an extensive diagnosis. Marcus was very professional, extremely thorough and made sure he covered all basis considering our circumstance. After diagnosing and checking with his team it was determined that our unit would need to be replaced. The refreshing part of this was that there wasn't an upsell or attempt to pressure us into a huge financial decision, but rather a professional assessment with about 3 options and recommendations with those options on what we'd be looking at in the event of our decision. I was drawn to inquire more into this company for services needed based on the reviews that claimed them to be "Honest, Experienced and Helpful", these were the qualities my situation demanded. I purchased a home and was told by the seller that the HVAC system was working but the inspection report had a different story, the system would not turn on. There was a newer Condenser in the garage but i had no clue if it was working or not, perhaps the previous owner was about to replace it?. Caleb responded to my inquiry right away through Yelp and we scheduled an appointment for the same week. He showed up timely and with a great attitude. We got along wonderfully. I explained my situation and he went to work fast testing many areas of the system using his inspection methods. He attempted to turn on the system bypassing the thermostat and there in front of me the Furnace made a huge terrible noise. The system was truly broken beyond repair. He suggested a new furnace which was understandable but the best part was his willingness to try and connect the Condenser that was in the garage so that he can try and save me money. He earned my trust right away because very few companies want to attempt to fix things its always replace, replace and replace, and some of us don't have the money due to circumstances. The day of the install he showed up with a partner and immediately got to work. Demolished the old furnace and cleaned up after themselves. The newly installed furnace looks amazing just see for yourself. He made some suggestions to move the condenser to the side of the house from its previous location in the back and I thought that was a brilliant idea! He just opened up and created some usable space for entertaining back there. He installed the Condenser that was in the garage and went the extra mile by adding new motor parts that go on the outside in a closed compartment. He hit the switch and it turned on!!! We were all very happy that the condenser worked! They were genuinely happy to save me money given the situation I was in. The entire system works beautifully! It is quiet, powerful and reasonably priced! There were things that they included with the awesome price. For example some duct work needed to be changed. I have a new Nest thermostat. Warranty! Flushed my Water Heater and most importantly taught me a great deal about how the system works, air flow and what not to do to avoid damages and keep it running efficiently. It's a long review but I am happy to take the time to write this because they did not take advantage of my situation instead they helped me and my family. There is hope!
