I just love love love Salata with their huge options of veggies, fruits and what not. I really like to go there at least 1-3 times per week. But the STAFF at MacArthur location is really very very very rude (except the lovely girl who works there from mon-Friday). The staff on weekends is so rude that even if I am dying to eat their salad I have stopped going there on weekend :( goshhhh ‍ Now talking about weekdays I don't know why they behave like they own the salad bar and even if people are taking 50% of the available options the staff have to pay it from their pockets ....hmmmmmm.... well In short I hate hate hate there staff but love love love there salads. You can get a great salad here. They have many types of lettuce including spinach and kale, and a great assortment of fresh veggies, proteins and cheeses. It's nice to not be charged by the ounce so you can veggie up! I love that your salad is being prepared by a staff rather than every Tom, Dick and Susie sticking their grubby hands in to serve their self. And bonus, they toss your salad at the end. It's pretty pricy for a salad but it's delish! They have several gluten free options for the salad dressings. 9/3/15 update: Dropping my rating to 3 stars and not because of the food. I was very disappointed on my last visit that my long wait time in line was extended since they kept stopping the line to make the call in orders. I was 5th in line and it took 20 minutes to get through the line. By the time we got to sit down to eat, the line was wrapping around all of the tables (which were mostly empty by the way) because no one could get through the line. My office ordered lunch from here today. I don't really eat meat so I was excited to see all the veggie and protein options they had. I ordered a salad with a few veggies and some falafel, which came with a bit of bread. I also ordered a cup of broccoli soup. For like $15, I guess I expected a bigger, more full looking salad. I love mushrooms and could barely find any in my salad, nor could I really find any of the other veggies I ordered. I don't usually use dressing if I have a lot of veggies, but I had to use dressing on this salad. I got the buttermilk ranch and it was really good. I want to clarify, this wasn't a bad tasting salad - it was just lacking. I make my own salads for lunch at least once a week, and for the price that was paid for this salad, I could make multiple bigger, more full salads for the same price. I did not get my bread, and my soup was okay, although it looked a bit gross and had a grainy texture. I wouldn't order it again. My boss said was a bit frustrated, too - especially since he paid for it all. His salad wasn't very full, the chicken was hard and cold, there weren't enough veggies and they left off the cheese. Edit: My coworker got a wrap and said it was "okay." She also ordered soup, but they gave her the wrong kind. My office probably won't be ordering from here again. I'm a regular here because I love salad and I love their lemon vinaigrette dressing. I always loved the customer service. Everyone was patient and friendly. I've noticed on my last 3-4 visits that the customer service has gone way downhill. I'm not sure what changed, but it's noticeable. Service isn't friendly anymore. When you ask for extra veggies, they act like it's an issue. The experience is not the same as it used to be. If they keep it up, they're going to lose one of their most loyal customers. I've been wanting to try Bread Zeppelin and Snappy Salads anyway, so this might be a good excuse to do so. I'm reducing my rating from 5 to 3 as a result. Also they charge 50 cents per extra veggie topping when it used to be included in the price. And they no longer sale their dressings in the bottle. As much as I love their salads the last 3 times I've came to this location they have been out of romaine lettuce. Like how this is a salad place. Then they are always out of bread. Today I went and they were out of Cesar. I drive a great distance to come to this location and it's always something. Last time I called in advance to ask if they had lettuce so it wouldn't happen to me again and she laughed at me.... I'm over it at this point. The staff doesn't really seem to care at all. Tried this place out tonight and it's amazing! You make your own salads or wraps. The salads come in two sizes. Big or little they also have soups as well. We both got the herb marinated chicken and I have to say it's probably the best chicken I have ever had!! The chipotle ranch was amazing too. A little kick but not too hot for us. They have unsweetened teas and sweetened lemonade as choices for drinks as well as a few bottled sodas. read more

Outstanding salad with way too many options. Finally a place where I can get whatever I want and as much as I want without being told I'm over the limit. I don't mind paying more for a meal when I can make it amazing. The girls behind the counter just kept smiling and shoveling whatever I wanted into that bowl. I had to pay extra for the additional proteins, which is fine with me. They were very tasteful and there was a such a wide variety that I wanted to try them all. All the other toppings were fresh, delicious and as many as I wanted to create my masterpiece. The salad bar was so clean without all the normal spills you see elsewhere. The large salad was so big when I got home I could only eat a little more than half and saved the rest for the next day. went for a quick lunch with coworkers. so glad i finally made it here! i got a small salad with salata mix, onions, chickpeas, black olives, sunflower seeds, edamame, and avocado. the ginger lime vinaigrette is outstanding! i got the whole grain croissant, thinking it was gluten free. it was soooo good, and i believe it contains glutens. it was worth it! the only downside is that i paid $1 for the avocado and i only got 1/4 of it. also added herb shrimp to my salad for $3. ended up taking over half of it home and this was the small! so much good food! the ingredients are so fresh and delish! i can't wait to come back and try some more variations. i was very impressed! read more

I had read so many excellent reviews of Salata, so I couldn't wait to try it! Upon entering the restaurant, it was surprisingly empty. It was just 5pm though, so I would imagine by 6pm it is pretty busy. The place was spotless, like squeaky clean, which I loved seeing. Once you walk through the front door, turn right and walk up to the counter. There, you will see a veggie-lovers oasis! Four different greens to choose from- I chose the Salata mix, with I believe was Romaine and cabbage. The nice (and patient) employee starts the process by placing the choices in a big bowl. Next, the veggie choices. Um, all please! Without even batting an eye, she puts all the ingredients in the bowl. Tofu chunks were free and not part of the 'additional cost proteins', which I really appreciated. I also added different peppers and seeds. Then, the difficult choice...the dressing. I believe they had close to 8 different dressings. "Would you like to try them?" Please! I tasted the Buttermilk Ranch just because I could bathe in that shit....how do I love thee, ranch dressing? Luckily, I tried the fat-free sun dried tomato dressing. Are you fricken' kidding me, this is fat-free??! I opted for the latter dressing because it was diet and because it had a spicy kick to it. I saw that they sell the dressings bottled, so I will have to purchase some of this. Oh, the salad also included a piece of garlic bread with a spicy garlic sauce on it. Yummm! When you buy a salad at most places, the ingredient amount is minimal. Just a few days ago (won't mention any names) we bought a pizza and salad at a local restaurant. The salad itself probably accounted for 1/3 of the plastic container (same box that Salata uses.) THAT particular salad cost $6. I consider myself to be a regular customer. I eat at this particular Salata roughly 2 to 4 times a week. I generally go between 3-6p. But on this visit I went in around 12:30, totally forgot abt the lunch rush. BUT regardless this was the 1st time I ever had a problem, i completely understandable when the staff is busy but i don't agree with the lack of customer service or general care. The situation that was most troubling was me simply asking for more Kale once the staff refilled the container. She told me no unless i remove my spinach or pay extra. I stated to her that when she scooped my kale it was the bottom of remaining leaves which tend to be shreds and small pieces. I asked the gentleman who was next to her to do and as he was in the process she snatched the bowl and removed my spinach and added the kale. Honestly it shouldn't have been that big of a issue. I just didn't agree with the attitude over Kale. Then i get to end and my salad wasn't even mixed just thrown in the conditioner. Wow! A vegan/vegetarian dream. It's like Subway, only it's actually appetizing. Walk in and you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member who will explain the process. Their first question will be "Salad or wrap?" Then you go down the line and choose what you want. The first stop is the greens (iceberg, romaine, mixed greens, and spinach). Then you go to the vegetables where they have about 20 different options (tomatoes, onions, celery, chickpeas, tofu, etc.). Then go to the nuts and seeds section, and the fruit and cheese section. Then the meats (I opted for tofu). After that select one of their home made dressings and your staff member will mix it all together and out comes your salad or wrap (they also have 5 or so different kinds of tortillas). I had a wheat wrap with spinach, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, tofu, strawberries, apples, and almonds, mixed with their herb vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious. Oh man, this is the place I frequent when I'm actually trying to be healthy. Because frankly, if I'm going to act healthy, I still want it to be delicious. Luckily, this place fits the bill for that. You walk in and assemble your massive salad in a buffet-style line kinda like Subway (except its actually fresh, fun ingredients). You start with a base of greens (ie: kale, spinach, field mix) and then add whatever your little heart desires from there. I am a woman of variety so I pretty much threw everything they had to offer in that thang. It was amazing. As for meat, I had to go with the marinated crab :O To. Die. For. Knocked a star off for the price because at the end of the day, $11 is a bit ridic for some veggies and a few chunks of meat. That, and I'm a college student. Imagine a world where you have 17 trillion salad options? Let me be the first to tell you that this place exists at 7601 N MacArthur Blvd. Salata is like a salad bar on steroids with gluten free, vegetarian and plenty of meat options. In fact, everything on the line is gluten free except for the last few bread items you encounter before the register. I didn't want to skimp on the homemade croutons and pita chips though because they were delicious. I got in the quickly moving line and ordered a small salad during a lunch rush. The attendant grabbed a pretty big stainless steel bowl and started filling it with my kale greens that I selected. After all was said and done, I ended up with black beans (they're healthy, right?), corn, peas, cucumber, cheese, sun-dried tomatoes with two dressings (yes, you can mix and match) and pesto chicken as my protein. I think I should probably coin "Italian Tex-Mex infusion" now. It was excellent and so fresh! In case you aren't sure you will like a dressing, you can ask for a sample. I sampled the sun-dried tomato and the herb vinaigrette together and they were very good! They have wraps and these are just as customizable as the salads. What makes Salata unique, though is the array of flavor, texture and dietary options; they are highly customizable. You cannot get bored with eating at this casual dining place. Your vegetarian friends will be happy with falafel and quinoa and your meat-eating coworkers or kids will love the many flavors of grilled chicken. When it comes to drinks, Salata has their own line of teas and lemonades. My favorite tea pick was the Tropical Green, think classic, refreshing tea with hints of pineapple, passion fruit, and vanilla. However, the drink that I can't stop thinking about was the Raspberry Lemonade; lightly sweetened with cane sugar and raspberry puree adds a nice touch. My co-workers and I are frequent customers of the Irving, TX location because of the proximity to our office. Typically we order online and pickup up 2-3 salads each week. For the past couple of weeks, something has been missing from at least one of the salads. We call and they will usually offer to give us the missing item on the next visit or - in some cases refund. Wed 10/23 we are missing items for all 3 salads ordered? Two selected croissants and neither had them. One was missing an avocado which is an additional $1. The third salad missing some ingredients as well. We were already getting an additional avocado free for the another salad because they missed it last week? Normally we call and they rectify but its becoming a pattern with our online orders. Although the salads are delicious, have to rate just a 2-3 due to service. read more

I want to start off by saying that I love Salata. They have really fresh ingredients, a great variety, and are responsibly priced ($10 or so) for a salad bar. I really enjoy the choice of a salad or wrap, and that you get to actually see everything that goes into your food. It's definitely my favorite stop for a great taste and still healthy meal. My only issue with Salata is that I'm not always the best at matching ingredients that taste good together and would really like the option of creating my own salad OR being able to order a salad off of a menu of options that are prepared by someone who knows better than I do what tastes good together. I fing the staff to be friendly but a little pushy. Again, I have a lot of trouble deciding what to put on my salad and would appreciate a little more guidance. Good selection of things--choose your lettuce (spring mix, romaine hearts, leaf spinach, or combo of all three), toppings plentiful (broccoli, bell peppers, sun dried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, nuts, dried fruits, etc.), plus the option of adding chicken or seafood or avocado for an extra fee. They also have a good amount of dressings to choose from. Went to Salata for the first time the other day. I was kind of overwhelmed by the selection; with so many ingredients to choose from and so many items I like on their own, i kind of had no idea how it would taste. But it tasted really good! Their herb vinaigrette dressing is killer, no doubt. Also added pesto chicken to my salad, which went perfect with the dressing and totally wasn't dry at all. I think the more I eat there, the better I'll be at knowing combinations and what not. Though the place isn't particularly cheap, they nevertheless make killer salads, have a good among of ingredients to choose from, plus you eat out of the metal bowl they make your salad in--adds a sort of charm and personality to the dining experience. The place is clean and a pleasant place to eat overall. Heck, even the restrooms are kind of nice. I definitely will be back! read more

I usually eat at the West Plano location, but this one is near my work. It wasn't until I came here that I realized they ask you, "1 or 2 scoops?" for the dressing. We're only offered 1 scoop in Plano... and um, I was actually kind of mortified because their ladle is a 2-serving scoop already. So if you get 2 scoops, you're getting 4 servings of dressing -- and unless you are getting fat-free dressing, that's about 44-60 grams of fat right there. Anyway, Salata makes healthy options very available to the average, busy working person -- but you can accidentally make a very unhealthy salad if you don't know the nutrition facts. It's like subway for salads. A few selections of salads to choose from & you pay a base price for a small or large salad. If you add seafood or meat they charge you about $3 extra. In total my salad came out to $11. The bowl they mix it in is the bowl you eat the salad in as well. Very long lines, luckily we got there at 11:15. The line was wrapped around the entire restaurant after Noon. I gave 4 stars because the meats were cold, and the line took a while to get through. They need a bit more staff. The girls at work and I decided to try this place for lunch. The veggies and dressing were fresh and delicious. I think my salad was $13 or $14 because I ordered it with falafel. I knew their protein would be served cold, but I didn't think it would be that big a deal. I was mistaken. Cold falafel is gross. Lesson learned. Salata itself is good. Salad quality is not bad. **Their Service is horrible** I've been to many different Salata, and I'm royal to Salata. At least me and my buddies go there twice a week at least. The one in the irving location, their service level is just like McDonald or even worse. Especially the short and dark skin lady, who worked on 9/29/2014 around 16:00 pm. She's rude and doesn't listen to what customer wants. She just makes Salad whatever she wants. If their customer service level was higher, I would go there more often, but because of those employees, even If I wanted to go to Salata, I would choose to go somewhere else. Am I expecting too much? No. I'm not expecting too much. I just want them to be nicer, not being rude to the customer, at least don't act like people working in McDonald. read more

It is about time someone came up with a healthy "fast food" option. Think Freebird's or Chipotle but for Salads. Pick your lettuce, pick your additionals (corn, broccoli, bell peppers, cauliflower, cheeses, fruits to name only a few), pick your dressing, add nuts, they mix it up and you have a HUGE salad for 8-12 bucks (depending if you a chicken, seafood or fresh avocados). I prefer my dressing on the side in case I can't finish it, which has happened. The staff (I hope they fired the staff member that made Ruben feel uncomfortable) was very friendly. I was trying to decide what dressing to have and mentioned that I was not excited about the balsamic vinaigrette they have. Her reply was let me make you excited about the balsamic. She mixed some balsamic and some of the ginger lime and BINGO!!!! I was excited. Good food, quick, in-expensive, friendly staff......I will be going back on a regular basis. If you go for a wrap, choose veggies that don't compress, to give the wrap maximum crunch. However, there are no suggested salads (ala Snappy Salads), so the first couple of times you visit, you're just guessing. It took me three trips to get a combo I liked. Mmm Mmm good. Salata is my new favorite wrap spot. All of the ingredients are prepped and served up fresh on a warm tortilla. The amount of choices is insane. It's a veggie lovers dream. I have tried the pesto, buffalo and grilled chicken. They are all fantastic. About the inside, layout, and service: the inside is modern and clean. The layout is designed like a chipotle/free birds/snappy salads. You can pick any number of ingredients you would like and they either toss the salad or roll it up as a wrap. They offer most items you could want on a salad, and it's almost all-inclusive at $8. You pay extra for actual protein/tofu, but bacon is free. You also get bread/pita chips on the side at no additional charge. The line was ridiculously long when I walked in, but since I ordered online (using their impressive website) I was able to walk right up and pickup my order. Totally recommend this place. read more

Salata is an interesting concept--custom salads and wraps--but lacks in execution. When you arrive, you move down an assembly line (think Subway) and instruct the staff on what you'd like. You choose greens, toppings, dressing, meat, and croutons. Wraps come with house made pita chips and salads come with bread. I had an Italian inspired wrap with pesto chicken, sub dried tomatoes, feta, olives, and balsamic vinaigrette. It was tasty. The pita chips were a little bland but they were okay. The first issue I have is that there are no pre-set menu items to choose from. As a first time visitor, it's hard to make choices at each stage without knowing what choices will pop up later. For instance, I didn't know until my wrap was almost finished that there was salmon and cucumber wraps at the end of the line. I might've chosen differently to incorporate those items if I knew they were there. It seems like it would be useful to offer 3 - 5 basic standard flavor profiles that you could either take, modify, or ignore and craft your own. The second issue I have is the variety. All ingredients seem to steer you toward one of three flavor profiles: chipotle, Italian, or Asian. Even the bread aligns with those three options. It's not possible to create, say, a Waldorf or a Cobb salad using the ingredients on the line. If you're going to market yourself exclusively as a salad place, I think more variety is a must.
