A short walk from the Saturday Farmers Market is Sal & Sons Seafood in the Broadway Market. It isn't a big building so you can't miss it. Order at the register, and wait for your check # to be called. We shared the Maryland crab cake sandwich platter $18.95 and fried oyster sandwich $12.95 off the regular menu, on brioche with lettuce onion and tomato. For the side of the platter we got vegetables, for the drink we had our pick of the bottled drinks in the fridge. The vegetable portion was impressive - plenty to share for two! The sandwiches were satisfactory. The portions good for the price.
WOW! The best high quality seafood for a very reasonable price that I've encountered thus far. The half and half cream of crab and Maryland crab soup had so much crab in it and was so flavorful without being too heavy. The crab cake was only $12 for a lot of crab (not just cake). Also absolutely loved the Maryland fries (Old Bay, garlic flavor) dipped in their house sauce. Incredible freshness of seafood. Quick service. Located in a food hall with a good amount of indoor seating.
Very fresh and affordable seafood. Fast service. Located in the center of the market. Inside is nice and open and the food was delicious. They have everything from oysters to shrimp. Raw and cooked seafood available as well as sides and Agua frescas. I got the fish tacos for only $10. They were well seasoned and came with pico, salsa verde, and chopped lettuce. Definitely going back!
Was looking for some affordable local flavors. This was a cool spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking for the most part, typical for this part of town. Seating: Indoor seating with room for about 20 people inside the market. Vibes: You're right in the heart of Old Town / Fells Point -- the touristy but charming part of Baltimore. I dig the vintage brick roads, the historic feel, and the mix of locals and visitors passing through. The space sits inside a lively market (1640 Aliceanna St) with that true Baltimore seafood vibe -- casual, approachable, and full of movement. It's not fine dining; it's flavor-first, no-nonsense, and welcoming. Great for a quick grab-and-go or to sit down for a casual meal. FOOD/DRINKS: Crab Soup (A-Ok) Simple but hearty. It reminded me of a tomato-based soup with crab mixed in -- nothing too fancy, but warm and satisfying. I appreciated the richness and good amount of crab meat. I'm more of a clam chowder fan, so next time I might go that route, but this was still solid. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff clearly know what they're doing and keep things moving without losing that personal touch. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, solid flavors, and a classic Baltimore seafood feel. Sal and Son's Seafood isn't flashy, but it's genuine -- a go-to for a comforting bowl and a true local experience. I'll be back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area. TIPS: * Check what's on special -- they rotate and have plenty of combo options.
I decided to try the catfish sandwich and fries. It was just ok for me. I asked for no tomato but received one. And maybe next time I would request fried onions and not raw. I did make them aware of the mistake... and the cashier was apologetic.
I found this food market online after another foodie raved about Sal & Sons' fish sandwiches--so of course, I had to try one for myself! When we arrived, the guy with the dimples greeted us with the warmest smile and so much patience as we tried to figure out what we wanted. He and his coworkers were super friendly, chatting with us while making sure every customer felt welcomed. I even noticed how kind they were to everyone else--yes, I was being a little nosey . Here's the funny part: we didn't realize we were talking to the owner at first! He was chatting nearby, so we asked him to clean off a table for us--then someone said, "That's Sal!" I laughed and said, "Sal, I've been calling your name for five minutes and you didn't come!" He smiled, sat down, and talked with us for a few minutes like we'd known him forever. He was serving food, cleaning tables, and interacting with everyone--just so humble and down-to-earth. I loved that energy. Now let's talk about the food... AMAZING. My fish sandwich was fried to perfection--so good I couldn't even finish it and had to take the rest home. My friend loved her rockfish, and my other friend went in on her red snapper (and still had plenty left for later). The market itself was spotless and didn't have that typical "fish market" smell, which was a big plus. I'll definitely be back!
The food at Sal and Sons is very good. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because our fries were cold. It's probably because one meal was simple (crab cake sandwich, fries), and the other may have taken longer to cook to order (shrimp and chicken jambalaya). Otherwise, we were absolutely satisfied with the food. The crab cake sandwich was on point. The creamy crab soup was flavorful, creamy, and worth every bite. The shrimp and chicken jambalaya was also executed well. Also, I highly recommend trying the fresh fruit drinks. We got watermelon and pineapple, and "refreshing" doesn't begin to describe how good they were. The service was straightforward and to the point, which works for me. The establishment is located inside of a market. We went on a Sunday, so this was one of the few eateries open. I'm imagining that it is probably more jumping on other days. If I'm in Baltimore again, I'll definitely consider visiting again and exploring more of the menu.
Tried out the catfish sandwich and the crab rolls. Both were fried and not too oily which I enjoyed. I really liked the aioli that came with the rolls to the point I poured It on my fish sandwich. The fresh onions can be a bit much so you may want them to add less. Catfish was crispy and juicy too.
Seriously, I don't understand why this place is averaging a 4 star rating. This place blew me away in the best way possible. The worker was very patient when taking our order even when we had a little conversation between ordering. The food came out within 10 minutes and I believe the manager came out to make sure we enjoyed our food. The crab dip + chips could've been warmer. But there's no doubt that the presentation and TASTE will knock your socks off. I would come back again and again! Not too salty. The chips were loaded. The fries might not look like much but the sweet potato fries were actually so good. Not a gross, soggy type. It was 8/10. The Mac n cheese + crab was out of this world! So much flavor with the cheese and crab combo. Noodles were cooked properly and soft. I'd say the ambiance is like any market. Not quiet but not too noisy. I overheard some lady say that there wasn't enough salt in her food which surprised me. But I genuinely thought the food was superb !!! Will definitely come back here to show my friends.
Sal's son prepared the grilled Asian-glazed salmon, and it was absolutely delicious! The salmon was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, with a sweet and savory glaze that complemented it beautifully. A satisfying, well-prepared meal that I would gladly order again.
I went in for a Fish Sandwich but opted for Fish and Fries . The Fish is cooked to order , seasoned well and Fried to perfection . It's located at Broadway Market. They also offer different types of Fish *All cooked to order , Huge Shrimp , Crab Cakes and sides . Make sure to pick up one of their Homemade Drinks too .
Great find as i was strolling through the Canton area. Its located within this the food hall/market. What I enjoyed most about this establishment was the ability to select the fish i wanted and the style in which it was prepared. You also have the option to buy it uncooked. The staff is really nice, quick and knowledgeable. As it is a hall, you have different seating options and ample amount of space to enjoy your meal .
I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife and twins for lunch. Since my wife likes seafood, we looked for a seafood restaurant in Fell's Point on Yelp and happened to find Sal and Sons. This restaurant is located in the Broadway Market, a type of food hall. As such, Sal & Sons is set up more like a food stall with some high-top seating, while there are plenty of standard tables throughout the market. For lunch that day, I decided to go with a fried oyster sandwich, while my wife chose the crab mac and cheese. We also decided to share the Maryland fries and ordered a cheese quesadilla for our kids. I tried the fried oyster sandwich first and thought it was fantastic. The brioche bun was toasted, buttery, and soft, while the fried oysters were super crispy and flavorful. The lettuce and onions added a nice freshness to what was otherwise a rich sandwich. Next, I tried the Maryland fries. The fries themselves were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavor was good overall, with a strong garlic presence. What I didn't taste, however, was any Old Bay, which is odd considering that's what I assumed made them "Maryland fries." Honestly, I think they forgot it. My wife enjoyed her crab mac and cheese and was impressed with the amount of crab in it. Last but certainly not least, the quesadilla was nicely cooked and both of our kids enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Everything we had here was fantastic and I would love to try more of their menu.
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the fresh seafood, especially crab cakes and salmon, along with friendly staff and reasonable prices. The lively market atmosphere is also appreciated.

I walked through the market on a late Friday afternoon and found Sal and Son's. We had a soft shell crab sandwich, grilled salmon sandwich, and scallops. 10/10 will definitely be back soon! read more
3.5 stars . . . First of all, the prices are great! Very affordable. I ordered the seafood platter because I couldn't decide what I wanted. Its fried and I'm not sure if they had a grilled option but that would have been nice. It came with fish (lake trout), shrimp, scallops, calamari, oysters, and fries. I asked for tilapia instead of trout because I had no desire to pick bones but I still got trout. Everything was well seasoned and appropriately battered. The shrimp was large and cooked well. The calamari was tender. The oysters were overcooked (you can see from the picture they're pretty dark). The best part of the meal was the scallops hands down. I don't normally enjoy fried scallops because they are almost ALWAYS overcooked, but these! Perfect! Lightly battered and flash fried. They were buttery and tender. I will definitely be back for scallops and I'd like to try their ceviche and tacos; both looked really good. read more

Sal and Sons was an amazing experience! I've been to Broadway Market a few times now, and have always been intrigued by the commotion that Sal and Sons has but didn't try it till today! Was immediately greeted by Sal himself, whose enthusiasm probably could have gotten me to try anything on the menu. We ended up ordered a pound of shrimp to be steamed in old bay seasoning, and one tilapia fillet which we requested to get grilled with Cajun seasoning. Additionally, we got rice and beans on the side. Overall it was about 25 dollars, which I think was a bargain considering everything was so fresh! I loved the concept of being able to pick out seafood and various fillets and customize how you wanted it cooked. It was extremely delicious and I'm already excited to return! read more
I had a wonderful lunch today and I'm very glad that they opened up the marketplace for dine in. I had the fried seafood platter that came with scallops, oysters, shrimp, calamari and fish. It was delicious, lightly fried to perfection. It's nice that they let me sub a Cesar salad for fries. I also got a fresh watermelon juice that was very refreshing and was a nice summertime drink. While enjoying my lunch, I had the pleasure of talking to Sal and his sons. They were all very helpful and friendly. They offer seafood dishes, Mexican specialties, such as tacos and quesadilla as well as fresh seafood to cook at home. I highly recommend this place for their delicious food and amazing service! read more

Great food, nice serving size and reasonable price. Owner Sal Salvador from El Salvador is very friendly, accommodating and hands on entertaining us. He talked about doing this stuff for the last 47 years. He even showed us his old pictures. Staff we've very friendly too. We had grilled baby octopus cooked in salt, house salad with grilled salmon, sopa de mariscos (seafood soup) and pineapple juice. Multiple hot sauces to choose from. Homemade chili sauce tasted great too. Place is an open design concept next to other stores, very pleasing. We will definitely come back, with the kids and friends next time. read more

So I just happen to stumble upon this place as I was walking through the market. I should start by saying it's beautiful inside the building. Lots of seating available and you are able to "take" your food over to the bar that is right in front of the counter and eat your food there while you have a drink. Before I ordered I inquired about the oysters, and being unfamiliar with the type they had that day the guy taking my order was nice enough to let me try one before I ordered them. Full disclosure I did not end up ordering the oysters. I ended up ordered the grilled salmon Caesar salad. The salmon was great, cooked to perfection with the right amount of seasoning on it. Here is the thing though, I don't think you should ever put hot food on lettuce. The lettuce wilted and didn't taste good..... of course that last statement is a opinion as I am not a cook. On a separate note they did forget to give me my drink.... no worries, eating at the bar I had a amazing cocktail. So lots of good things to say but yes only 3 stars.... why??? I just wasn't overly impressed with anything!! Nothing to write home about... Amazing experience. Marletplaces in Baltimore are known for having a fish market at the end. The fried fisb definitely hit the spot today. The place is clean, and all fish are fresh. They go straight from the fridge to the grill/fryer. Definely recommend for a quick bite in hrabor area! read more
I kept it simple and ordered a single crab crake. I ordered via my phone and was served in 10 minutes. The single crab cake was $11 and that's considered a steal in Maryland. I opted for broiled vs fried and it was significantly overdone. The top layer had was tough and chewy. The crab cake was also very , very salty; the accompanying greens helped to balance the flavor. The crab cake also had a significant amount of filler; and considering the crab meat to filler ratio, the price point made sense. read more
Wandered into Broadway Market, wound up ordering a Fried Seafood platter ($20) which was plenty portion-wise to share amongst 2! It comes with seasoned French fries, and the seafood (scallops, shrimp, calamari, fish of your choice, and oysters) was fried fresh to order. I liked that the batter was thin and light, sprinkled with Old Bay. You could easily it eat by itself or supplement with tartar sauce or ketchup. I got to meet the owner Sal who was very friendly and talkative with customers. He asked how we liked the food and shared about the business. I was impressed by how fresh the fish (paid per pound) looked. He said he got them delivered that morning. read more

This place is a great choice for lunch. We had the crab pretzel and crab mac and cheese. The crab was beautiful size lump in both meals. The food was good but the service was better. The person that helped us wS extremely kind and qS very happy to show city history and out of the way thing to do. read more

Such a yummy little spot in Broadway market. There is some limited seating at the bar (which gives a great view of the cooking process!) and more seating throughout the market/outdoors. Great selection of food for seafood lovers. We ordered mussels with marinara sauce, cream of crab soup, a fried seafood platter, and Caesar salad with shrimp and scallops. For most of the seafood options, you can choose between bay seasoning or salt/pepper/garlic seasoning. Everything was tasty! Would recommend this spot for a casual lunch or dinner if you're in Fell's Point. read more

I was happy at first when I ordered my food however when I taste the Crab Mac Cheese it was quite cardboard and watery. I spoke to the manager about this issue however he was not understanding at all. I enjoy the catfish dinner as well as the octopus appetizer bites. I suggested to him that I would pay for something else however he forced money in my hand. read more

Mussels were some of the best I've ever had, super creamy and fresh, perfectly cooked, the sauce was to die for. Shrimp tacos were equally fresh. Overall an OK seafood experience. We ordered the shrimp tacos and crab soup. The crab soup was very tomatoey. It lacked strong seafood or Old Bay flavors. The soup lacked adequate solids and so thin that the all the ingredients wallowed at the base of the bowl. It mostly tasted like canned tomato water. The crab and vegetable portion was meager. The shrimp tacos also showed inattention to execution. The tortillas were soft and chewy, quite good. However, the shrimps inside were small and overcooked. The flavor profile of this taco was flat and uncomplex. read more

Sal and Sons is a seafood spot located in Broadway Market, which is a brand new building with a beautiful interior and a variety of seating (bars, small tables, large group tables, little kid tables). It's great for everyone, for friends, family, dates, etc. This spot sells both raw seafood (soft shell crabs, fish in all different cuts, scallops, shrimp, etc) which you can buy raw or cooked. They also have a regular ready-to-eat menu as well. I shared the fried seafood platter ($20) which had one piece of fish, 3 large scallops, a couple large shrimp, some oysters, some calamari, and fries with a dusting of old bay seasoning. I also shared a cream of crab soup ($9). The fried seafood platter was a LOT of fried stuff and it was a bit much fried stuff for me. The soup was pretty good with noticeable chunks of crab meat. Fresh/raw oysters were my favorite. They were 3 for $5, and very large. They shuck them for you so it's super easy to eat. I'm not very familiar with seafood prices but they were selling soft shell crabs for $10 each which seemed a bit much. Sauces/condiments can be requested as they keep them at the front. Parking is paid street parking. If you park at Harbor East, first hour is free then it's $2/hour. If you park at St Caroline garage, it's $5 all day on weekends. Also I'm not sure why Yelp says it's closed on Sundays because I was just there on a Sunday and all of Broadway Market was open. read more
