Sal & Sons is located inside the Broadway Market, Aliceanna Street & Broadway, Fells Point district. It is worth the walk or a short taxi ride. Walk. It is part of the adventure. This place is not "fine dining," but it is great food. I had a beautiful soft shell crab sandwich there last week, simple and near perfect. The price was right too ($16 at the time). The crabs are fresh and local - at least right now while they are in season. The people at the counter were super friendly, and as far as I could tell, I was the only tourist there for Monday lunch. Everybody else was a local. I went back the next day and talked with Sal, the owner. I asked him what he though I should eat if I wanted to be impressed. Truly a hidden gem. Was not sure we were going to try it due to seating. Not a lot of tables. Set in an open are building with several places to eat like a food court. So glad we have it a try we started with 2 dozen oysters and the grilled baby octopus. Oysters were very fresh but I do prefer colder water brinier oysters but they were fresh. The grilled baby octopus was great. One of us had the jambalaya and he said the flavors and fresh seafood was were perfect. Not on the regular menu but in the pictures they had whole fried fish. They are market price. We had the whole Rock fish and it was cooked to perfection. Crispy outside but the fish meat was not over cooked. It was amazing. We also ordered another whole fish. The bronzino and it was also very good. I will definitely get the whole red snapper next time I'm in the area. Again this is a must stop. We sat at the bar across from the restaurant and they kept the beers and smoked bourbons coming. I feel like this place not only has great food but was also a great value for the area. We. This shop is located in a Market food hall that has a variety of different vendors serving different foods. We got fresh oysters from here which were shucked per order. It was 6 for $12 but they were friendly and threw in an extra one for us! They definitely tasted fresh but I think it could've been cleaned better, some still had pieces of shell in it which wasn't as convenient to eat. Sal & Sons exceeded my expectations & delivered some delicious tacos and oysters for a quick afternoon snack! My boyfriend and I ordered a dozen oysters and for $2 a piece, these were an absolute steal. Each oyster was humongous (admittedly a little too big for my liking but my boyfriend liked them) & was paired with a delicious cocktail sauce that appears to be made in house. I also wasn't expecting much from the tacos, but they were all really good! We ordered the steak, chicken, and fish. The best surprise yet was when they brought out a bunch of different hot sauces for us to try with the tacos and oysters. Watermelon juice here was good but erred a bit on the sweet side. During the hot summer dates the watermelon agua was much needed and the drink was made well, not like others where it layers after a bit of time in the cup. I've eaten here twice, my first experience was not good. My second time coming to Fells Point, I came here after the Christmas Village in the Inner Harbor, and my parents were with me. All the restaurants were packed, and there was a Santa bar crawl going on in which there were drunk revelers stumbling over each other, one asked me "HEY! ARE YOU KOREAN! CHINESE?" Me: "No, I'm Cambodian" Drunk reveler: "NNOOOOO! NNOO WAYYYY!" With this in mind, all the good restaurants were packed and did not want to deal with Santa bar crawl folks, especially with my parents around. So we went into the Broadway Market, something casual and pretty empty. We got the Shrimp, Oysters, and Crab cake. The crab cake did not taste good at all, lots of filler, I couldn't taste any crab meat, and the flavor was just very bland. I took one bite and didn't want anymore. The Shrimp was large, but not fresh. It was heavily doused in old bay, but too salty. It was large and good for the price, but wasn't tasty. Lastly, the oysters were good, but it doesn't come with any vinegar or horseradish, only cocktail sauce from the bottle on the table. I was very unsatisfied and won't be back here. Excellent service, very welcoming, caring and attentive, you can tell making the customer happy is part of their mission. We had a yellow tail, crab cake, fries and coleslaw, it was all amazing. The coleslaw had a great flavor and crunch, probably one of the freshest and best coleslaw I've had. The crab cake was only $12, fresh, all meat and killer seasoning, amazing. What can I say! The staff was very nice, they let us sample the soups they were making, very sweet and the soup was great. I read one review where the customer was unhappy because no one came to take the order. It's not that hard to figure out you need to go to the register. Let me start off by just saying, this place was full of surprises! Was on the hunt for a place with good fried fish and oysters this place came up and had good reviews. Upon arriving I saw that its not really a sit down restaurant. But there is plenty of areas and room including a bar to sit at as well! in addition to exploring the facility (there are a few different food places in there to choose from) we also had to stop and get some ice cream lol. you should know sal and sons is inside a local market. there are a few tables that are available to patrons of each restaurant/store front. the remaining seating is counter service. you can buy alcohol from another vendor and bring it to your seat. keep that point in mind if you are seeking atmosphere. most dishes were picked up and carried out. the menu is limited but each item i saw being served looked delicious, hot and extremely fresh. we ordered crab egg roll, crab cake , and broiled scallops and shrimp. utensils are plastic and that's always a turn off but it was lunch in a marketplace so not a big deal. you can watch your food being prepared from the counter and if you would like to take some of the freshness home, a seafood market is attached. there is no wait staff per say but any item needed is stat the counter. the crab egg roll is absolutely one of the best things i've ever had. the crab cake and sautéed seafood were excellent as well. i give this place five stars taking it for what it is. the description could be a little misleading so you should know what your getting before arrival. dinner, probably not, if they are even open, but for lunch, you don't want to miss it! read more

He talked about doing this stuff for the last 47 years. He even showed us his old pictures. Staff we've very friendly too. We had grilled baby octopus cooked in salt, house salad with grilled salmon, sopa de mariscos (seafood soup) and pineapple juice. Multiple hot sauces to choose from. Was so pleasantly surprised by the food here. I ordered it for delivery on a whim and it was so flavorful and fresh with a nice large and filling portion. I always can tell fish is fresh when it doesn't smell too fishy. I ordered a crab cake, plain grilled salmon and grilled lemon pepper cod dishes. I saved the salmon for dinner the next night and it was still perfect. The veggies are great too with a ton of peppers, onions and zucchini. I got a broiled crab cake and it was sort of cajun seasoned and large. It wasn't my favorite flavor but overall cooked perfectly and well proportioned. 3.5 stars . . . First of all, the prices are great! Very affordable. I ordered the seafood platter because I couldn't decide what I wanted. Its fried and I'm not sure if they had a grilled option but that would have been nice. It came with fish (lake trout), shrimp, scallops, calamari, oysters, and fries. I asked for tilapia instead of trout because I had no desire to pick bones but I still got trout. Everything was well seasoned and appropriately battered. The shrimp was large and cooked well. The calamari was tender. The oysters were overcooked (you can see from the picture they're pretty dark). The best part of the meal was the scallops hands down. I don't normally enjoy fried scallops because they are almost ALWAYS overcooked, but these! Perfect! Lightly battered and flash fried. They were buttery and tender. I will definitely be back for scallops and I'd like to try their ceviche and tacos; both looked really good. read more
