A short walk from the Saturday Farmers Market is Sal & Sons Seafood in the Broadway Market. It isn't a big building so you can't miss it. Order at the register, and wait for your check # to be called. We shared the Maryland crab cake sandwich platter $18.95 and fried oyster sandwich $12.95 off the regular menu, on brioche with lettuce onion and tomato. For the side of the platter we got vegetables, for the drink we had our pick of the bottled drinks in the fridge. The vegetable portion was impressive - plenty to share for two! The sandwiches were satisfactory. The portions good for the price.
WOW! The best high quality seafood for a very reasonable price that I've encountered thus far. The half and half cream of crab and Maryland crab soup had so much crab in it and was so flavorful without being too heavy. The crab cake was only $12 for a lot of crab (not just cake). Also absolutely loved the Maryland fries (Old Bay, garlic flavor) dipped in their house sauce. Incredible freshness of seafood. Quick service. Located in a food hall with a good amount of indoor seating.
Very fresh and affordable seafood. Fast service. Located in the center of the market. Inside is nice and open and the food was delicious. They have everything from oysters to shrimp. Raw and cooked seafood available as well as sides and Agua frescas. I got the fish tacos for only $10. They were well seasoned and came with pico, salsa verde, and chopped lettuce. Definitely going back!
Was looking for some affordable local flavors. This was a cool spot. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking for the most part, typical for this part of town. Seating: Indoor seating with room for about 20 people inside the market. Vibes: You're right in the heart of Old Town / Fells Point -- the touristy but charming part of Baltimore. I dig the vintage brick roads, the historic feel, and the mix of locals and visitors passing through. The space sits inside a lively market (1640 Aliceanna St) with that true Baltimore seafood vibe -- casual, approachable, and full of movement. It's not fine dining; it's flavor-first, no-nonsense, and welcoming. Great for a quick grab-and-go or to sit down for a casual meal. FOOD/DRINKS: Crab Soup (A-Ok) Simple but hearty. It reminded me of a tomato-based soup with crab mixed in -- nothing too fancy, but warm and satisfying. I appreciated the richness and good amount of crab meat. I'm more of a clam chowder fan, so next time I might go that route, but this was still solid. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, friendly, and efficient. The staff clearly know what they're doing and keep things moving without losing that personal touch. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Good prices, solid flavors, and a classic Baltimore seafood feel. Sal and Son's Seafood isn't flashy, but it's genuine -- a go-to for a comforting bowl and a true local experience. I'll be back to try their other dishes next time I'm in the area. TIPS: * Check what's on special -- they rotate and have plenty of combo options.
I decided to try the catfish sandwich and fries. It was just ok for me. I asked for no tomato but received one. And maybe next time I would request fried onions and not raw. I did make them aware of the mistake... and the cashier was apologetic.
I found this food market online after another foodie raved about Sal & Sons' fish sandwiches--so of course, I had to try one for myself! When we arrived, the guy with the dimples greeted us with the warmest smile and so much patience as we tried to figure out what we wanted. He and his coworkers were super friendly, chatting with us while making sure every customer felt welcomed. I even noticed how kind they were to everyone else--yes, I was being a little nosey . Here's the funny part: we didn't realize we were talking to the owner at first! He was chatting nearby, so we asked him to clean off a table for us--then someone said, "That's Sal!" I laughed and said, "Sal, I've been calling your name for five minutes and you didn't come!" He smiled, sat down, and talked with us for a few minutes like we'd known him forever. He was serving food, cleaning tables, and interacting with everyone--just so humble and down-to-earth. I loved that energy. Now let's talk about the food... AMAZING. My fish sandwich was fried to perfection--so good I couldn't even finish it and had to take the rest home. My friend loved her rockfish, and my other friend went in on her red snapper (and still had plenty left for later). The market itself was spotless and didn't have that typical "fish market" smell, which was a big plus. I'll definitely be back!
The food at Sal and Sons is very good. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because our fries were cold. It's probably because one meal was simple (crab cake sandwich, fries), and the other may have taken longer to cook to order (shrimp and chicken jambalaya). Otherwise, we were absolutely satisfied with the food. The crab cake sandwich was on point. The creamy crab soup was flavorful, creamy, and worth every bite. The shrimp and chicken jambalaya was also executed well. Also, I highly recommend trying the fresh fruit drinks. We got watermelon and pineapple, and "refreshing" doesn't begin to describe how good they were. The service was straightforward and to the point, which works for me. The establishment is located inside of a market. We went on a Sunday, so this was one of the few eateries open. I'm imagining that it is probably more jumping on other days. If I'm in Baltimore again, I'll definitely consider visiting again and exploring more of the menu.
Tried out the catfish sandwich and the crab rolls. Both were fried and not too oily which I enjoyed. I really liked the aioli that came with the rolls to the point I poured It on my fish sandwich. The fresh onions can be a bit much so you may want them to add less. Catfish was crispy and juicy too.
Seriously, I don't understand why this place is averaging a 4 star rating. This place blew me away in the best way possible. The worker was very patient when taking our order even when we had a little conversation between ordering. The food came out within 10 minutes and I believe the manager came out to make sure we enjoyed our food. The crab dip + chips could've been warmer. But there's no doubt that the presentation and TASTE will knock your socks off. I would come back again and again! Not too salty. The chips were loaded. The fries might not look like much but the sweet potato fries were actually so good. Not a gross, soggy type. It was 8/10. The Mac n cheese + crab was out of this world! So much flavor with the cheese and crab combo. Noodles were cooked properly and soft. I'd say the ambiance is like any market. Not quiet but not too noisy. I overheard some lady say that there wasn't enough salt in her food which surprised me. But I genuinely thought the food was superb !!! Will definitely come back here to show my friends.
Sal's son prepared the grilled Asian-glazed salmon, and it was absolutely delicious! The salmon was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, with a sweet and savory glaze that complemented it beautifully. A satisfying, well-prepared meal that I would gladly order again.
I went in for a Fish Sandwich but opted for Fish and Fries . The Fish is cooked to order , seasoned well and Fried to perfection . It's located at Broadway Market. They also offer different types of Fish *All cooked to order , Huge Shrimp , Crab Cakes and sides . Make sure to pick up one of their Homemade Drinks too .
Great find as i was strolling through the Canton area. Its located within this the food hall/market. What I enjoyed most about this establishment was the ability to select the fish i wanted and the style in which it was prepared. You also have the option to buy it uncooked. The staff is really nice, quick and knowledgeable. As it is a hall, you have different seating options and ample amount of space to enjoy your meal .
I stopped by here a couple of Saturdays ago with my wife and twins for lunch. Since my wife likes seafood, we looked for a seafood restaurant in Fell's Point on Yelp and happened to find Sal and Sons. This restaurant is located in the Broadway Market, a type of food hall. As such, Sal & Sons is set up more like a food stall with some high-top seating, while there are plenty of standard tables throughout the market. For lunch that day, I decided to go with a fried oyster sandwich, while my wife chose the crab mac and cheese. We also decided to share the Maryland fries and ordered a cheese quesadilla for our kids. I tried the fried oyster sandwich first and thought it was fantastic. The brioche bun was toasted, buttery, and soft, while the fried oysters were super crispy and flavorful. The lettuce and onions added a nice freshness to what was otherwise a rich sandwich. Next, I tried the Maryland fries. The fries themselves were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavor was good overall, with a strong garlic presence. What I didn't taste, however, was any Old Bay, which is odd considering that's what I assumed made them "Maryland fries." Honestly, I think they forgot it. My wife enjoyed her crab mac and cheese and was impressed with the amount of crab in it. Last but certainly not least, the quesadilla was nicely cooked and both of our kids enjoyed it. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. Everything we had here was fantastic and I would love to try more of their menu.
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the fresh seafood, especially crab cakes and salmon, along with friendly staff and reasonable prices. The lively market atmosphere is also appreciated.

Sal and Sons were a delight to dine in. Located in a food Market, Sal and sons offer casual yet solid seafood options. We opted for the fried crab cake with cajun fries and the grilled shrimp and scallops with veggies. The jumbo crab cakes were loaded with chunky crab meat. The texture and flavors were good especially paired with the Tatar sauce. The fries was underwhelming, though. The grilled shrimp and scallops were *bouncy* and incredibly fresh. Service was fast and people were cordial. We also tried their fresh oysters with their homemade horseradish. Their horseradish were super strong and punchy, but that's what you need to give the oysters a little kick, right? The oysters were fresh, bouncy and delicious, although one of them were pretty sandy. read more
This is my first time stopping here since the market was renovated. I only come down here to go drinking at local pubs but today I was hungry and I walked into the market and walked and found the Sal and Sons. The signage says they have been associated with the market a long time. This is great because I use to go to the local market as a kid to the fish stalls and seeing all the fresh fish and crabs. They have fresh fish daily. I like that. You can't get fresh fish in Baltimore from a local anymore. I looked at the menu and they had a special of BBQ half slab of ribs and I ordered it. They also had oysters and I ordered them as well. All fresh. The oysters were prepared as a fritter on a bed of romaine lettuce with a lime wedge on the side. The were delicious. Golden brown. Light battered so you can taste the oysters. Not quite like Mom's but good enough to pass for me. Second item was the half rack of BBQ ribs that were served on a bed of seasoned fries. The fries were hand cut, they were not bad at all. The ribs had me a little concerned. The ribs were spare ribs and meaty yes (4 bones) but were just one note. I did not see a BBQ rig outside nor did I see a pit master so these ribs had to be prepared by another method such as boiling them in water or oven I think they were boiling method because the ribs had no flavor at all. Boiling water brings nothing to the flavor profile of the ribs. No taste of wood smoke in the flavor of the meat nothing but the tomato BBQ sauce. This tells me that this was just boiled ribs and put some BBQ sauce on it and we call it a day. Money please. No if you advertise BBQ and you put this on the table I'm gonna call you out on it. Chef Ramsey would have thrown the plate of food out the window. I love the location. New upscale area. Clean with security coming by every few minutes to make sure all is quiet. I will recommend the place. They clean up the table after you leave and they keep the tables clean. Fresh fish too and they can do it to go as well. Cheers!!!!! read more

Sal & Sons exceeded my expectations & delivered some delicious tacos and oysters for a quick afternoon snack! My boyfriend and I ordered a dozen oysters and for $2 a piece, these were an absolute steal. Each oyster was humongous (admittedly a little too big for my liking but my boyfriend liked them) & was paired with a delicious cocktail sauce that appears to be made in house. I also wasn't expecting much from the tacos, but they were all really good! We ordered the steak, chicken, and fish. The best surprise yet was when they brought out a bunch of different hot sauces for us to try with the tacos and oysters. Watermelon juice here was good but erred a bit on the sweet side. Staff was incredibly friendly and kind except for the one person who rang us up at the register. read more

I come here pretty often for the 3 tacos combo they have. It's the only thing I've tried, and what I would recommend getting. My favorites are the steak, shrimp, or fish tacos. Service is always quick, and they are friendly every time! read more

This shop is located in a Market food hall that has a variety of different vendors serving different foods. We got fresh oysters from here which were shucked per order. It was 6 for $12 but they were friendly and threw in an extra one for us! They definitely tasted fresh but I think it could've been cleaned better, some still had pieces of shell in it which wasn't as convenient to eat. The other items on their menu also looked yummy as well. read more
I've eaten here twice, my first experience was not good. My second time coming to Fells Point, I came here after the Christmas Village in the Inner Harbor, and my parents were with me. All the restaurants were packed, and there was a Santa bar crawl going on in which there were drunk revelers stumbling over each other, one asked me "HEY! ARE YOU KOREAN! CHINESE?" Me: "No, I'm Cambodian" Drunk reveler: "NNOOOOO! NNOO WAYYYY!" With this in mind, all the good restaurants were packed and did not want to deal with Santa bar crawl folks, especially with my parents around. So we went into the Broadway Market, something casual and pretty empty. We got the Shrimp, Oysters, and Crab cake. The crab cake did not taste good at all, lots of filler, I couldn't taste any crab meat, and the flavor was just very bland. I took one bite and didn't want anymore. The Shrimp was large, but not fresh. It was heavily doused in old bay, but too salty. It was large and good for the price, but wasn't tasty. Lastly, the oysters were good, but it doesn't come with any vinegar or horseradish, only cocktail sauce from the bottle on the table. I was very unsatisfied and won't be back here. The service also seemed pretty rude/standoffish to me. read more
Truly a hidden gem. Was not sure we were going to try it due to seating. Not a lot of tables. Set in an open are building with several places to eat like a food court. So glad we have it a try we started with 2 dozen oysters and the grilled baby octopus. Oysters were very fresh but I do prefer colder water brinier oysters but they were fresh. The grilled baby octopus was great. One of us had the jambalaya and he said the flavors and fresh seafood was were perfect. Not on the regular menu but in the pictures they had whole fried fish. They are market price. We had the whole Rock fish and it was cooked to perfection. Crispy outside but the fish meat was not over cooked. It was amazing. We also ordered another whole fish. The bronzino and it was also very good. I will definitely get the whole red snapper next time I'm in the area. Again this is a must stop. We sat at the bar across from the restaurant and they kept the beers and smoked bourbons coming. I feel like this place not only has great food but was also a great value for the area. We. Ate at several places in the area and felt like they are all very overpriced for what you get. Not here. Recommend very highly. read more

This place is a gem. Very good seafood at quite fair prices. Owned by a Mexican family. The agua frescas were fine. The cole slaw, always a good side for seafood, was good. Try the crabcake sandwich, try the scallops. If there is a negative, it is that the decor and seating is basic. Not fancy. But so what? Enjoy the food. read more

Stumbled upon this place inside the Broadway Market during our visit to Baltimore... All these of these dishes were good, the jambalaya was full of shrimp/chicken and had a slight kick. The crab fries and egg rolls were fresh and hot with chunks of . During the hot summer dates the watermelon agua was much needed and the drink was made well, not like others where it layers after a bit of time in the cup. The staff was super attentive and happy to help! read more

The food was great ... had a crab cake and the baby octopi. The octopi was served with a chili sauce that was a perfect compliment. If you get lost, it is in the building in the island in the middle of the boulevard. read more
Absolutely loved the crab cakes here! We tried broiled and fried and I actually thought the fried didn't really add anything. We had the fried shrimp also which my daughter loved. My only qualm was the crab dip. The dip itself was great but they gave fries for dipping and I thought chips or pita would have worked better. The fries were a little much with the cheese. read more

Excellent service, very welcoming, caring and attentive, you can tell making the customer happy is part of their mission. We had a yellow tail, crab cake, fries and coleslaw, it was all amazing. The coleslaw had a great flavor and crunch, probably one of the freshest and best coleslaw I've had. The crab cake was only $12, fresh, all meat and killer seasoning, amazing. They didn't have red snapper but they offered us a yellow tail, it was fresh, tasty and looked to perfection. We will definitely be back. It is now one of our fav spots for MD bounds. read more
Sal's has become one of our go to seafood places in Baltimore! Unfortunately the calamari is hit or miss depending on the day - can be very tender or can be dry and severely overcooked. The crab cake is pretty consistently good. Also a fan of the rockfish. Service is top notch and friendly! read more

Let me start off by just saying, this place was full of surprises! Was on the hunt for a place with good fried fish and oysters this place came up and had good reviews. Upon arriving I saw that its not really a sit down restaurant. But there is plenty of areas and room including a bar to sit at as well! in addition to exploring the facility (there are a few different food places in there to choose from) we also had to stop and get some ice cream lol. Everything we ordered was fresh and very filling. I had the catfish combo with fries and a drink and it came to under $11! I loved it! Huge pieces5 of fish and plenty of fries. Defiantly stop by this place for a quick lunch or dinner in the heart of the city! read more

5 star food but i have to take a 1/2 point to bring it to a 4.5 because i sat at the bar right by the cashier for 10 min and nobody greeted me. After asking if i could order the cashier said come to the register. it was my first time how should i know the process. Anyways go try it the prices are reasonable for what your getting. Enjoy! read more
you should know sal and sons is inside a local market. there are a few tables that are available to patrons of each restaurant/store front. the remaining seating is counter service. you can buy alcohol from another vendor and bring it to your seat. keep that point in mind if you are seeking atmosphere. most dishes were picked up and carried out. the menu is limited but each item i saw being served looked delicious, hot and extremely fresh. we ordered crab egg roll, crab cake , and broiled scallops and shrimp. utensils are plastic and that's always a turn off but it was lunch in a marketplace so not a big deal. you can watch your food being prepared from the counter and if you would like to take some of the freshness home, a seafood market is attached. there is no wait staff per say but any item needed is stat the counter. the crab egg roll is absolutely one of the best things i've ever had. the crab cake and sautéed seafood were excellent as well. i give this place five stars taking it for what it is. the description could be a little misleading so you should know what your getting before arrival. dinner, probably not, if they are even open, but for lunch, you don't want to miss it! read more

The place is located in an area where multiple restaurants are located. Nice and safe area to hang about, tons of cheap parking and free parking a block down. [5/5] Dishes | Soft Shell Crab Sandwich I didn't know I'd like a whole crab in a sandwich. It was very flavorful and crisp. The sauces that it came with was not overpowering, rather complimenting the taste of the crab. [4/5] Dishes | Raw Oysters I can't tell if I love cocktail sauce or oysters, but the oysters were good. Not the best oysters I have ever had, but very tasty, especially with the lime and garlic. The overall service was great. Sal was also there and was a great host! I plan on coming back several more times! read more
Crab Cakes! Everyone in Baltimore wants to stake a claim to having the best, but these guys deserve a top ranking! Not a lot of filler, not over-seasoned, just right. $11 each during COVID, call ahead and pick it up! Service was very fast and friendly. It takes about 10 minutes to broil if you order on-site. read more

Wow what a great experience! Got to meet Sal and what a nice guy he is. He was so open and kept checking up on us. This place is inside the Broadway Market with limited seating but most people do togo. Food was great and service was impeccable! We ordered the broiled crab cakes, cajun grilled filet, and soft shell crab sandwich. Everything was yummy and my favorite was the soft shell crab. I took a risk of going to this place with my family to get seafood. It was a hole in the wall, Broadway market. but don't judge the book by it's cover. This place serve the fresh seafood. And the price is unbeatable . I would trade white linen table and be in the market with Sal and Son. read more
