The sushi was outstanding. I had the Black Dragon. And they were pretty fast. True the ambiance is meh "fast food", but that was expected.

This is my family's go-to sushi spot. We did a timed pick up order, got there a few minutes early and it was already ready. We've never had an issue with any of our orders. We typically get sushi but have had the hibachi meals as well. We prefer the sushi. The dining area is now open, since it was closed off for quite some time after the pandemic. Okay. If you're in a hurry, here's the skinny on Sakura Express (SE): thumbs up on their Sakura Special (SS), but skip the sushi. If you have time, here's my slightly longer review... We are regulars at Little Caesars next door, and when I spotted a new sushi restaurant opening up, my oldest was excited. We decided to check it out yesterday. The interior is nice and clean, with several tables. You order at the counter, pay, and then wait until they call you. SE is fast food, but it definitely took a bit longer than most--maybe 15 to 20 minutes. The service was friendly, and it was fun to watch the cooks prepare the food. California Roll- These were mediocre with way too much cucumber, overpowering everything else in the roll. 3* Spicy Shrimp Roll- My oldest ordered these and he said the filling was mushy and indescribable with an odd flavor--not very spicy, either. 2* Miso Soup- Does anyone else think that miso soup tastes like ham? Maybe it's just me. SE's miso was decent, although my oldest felt it needed some salt. 3.5* Sakura Special Teriyaki Style with Chicken- This is the best thing on their menu. The SS comes with protein (chicken, steak, tilapia, shrimp, scallops, salmon, and combinations), fried rice, carrots and your choice of Hibachi Style (mushrooms and zucchini) or Teriyaki Style (broccoli and zucchini). It comes in regular or large and the regular is a nice, large portion. Everything tasted fresh, especially the vegetables! 4* We all agreed that we will return for the Special, but skip the sushi. Tucked in the middle of a busy strip mall, Sakura Express offers teriyaki, hibachi, and sushi on a fast food scale. Help yourself to beverages. The restaurant is clean and service is ok. My husband and I ordered two of the same- chicken and steak teriyaki. A little light on the protein but the veggies were fresh. The peas in the rice lost their color. I'm truly disappointed in this restaurant. I will not be eating here ever again. The customer service was terrible, that was a red flag. I asked about the sushi rolls and how many you get per order. The guy seemed really annoyed with my question and answered unsure. I ended up ordering the volcano rolls. It was the most disgusting volcano rolls I've ever tasted. I wasted 8 dollars. I also got the California rolls, I was not impressed whatsoever. Out of everything I ordered, they gave me one order of wasabi and ginger. Just one. I've had better sushi from the grocery store. This restaurant is tucked in the middle of what has become a very busy strip mall. It's an attempt, a meager attempt, to bring Chinese/Japanese dining to fast food. It's all about the rice. Rice. A staple of Chinese and Japanese cuisine. But not well executed here. I could swear it has the texture and moisture content of instant rice. I can't forgive that. It goes downhill from there. Many foods are covered in sauces to add moisture and flavor to otherwise dry and flavorless food. That said, I am possibly more critical than others. If you can endure average (Americanized) Chinese/Japanese food, you might enjoy Sakura Express. But if you can travel about a half mile south, try China Moon Chinese restaurant. read more

I've Only been there once and I Got a spicy salmon. It was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Nice take out option in Suffolk.

The food quality has gone down from when they first opened. Also, the customer service has declined. I waited to try it two times to see if it was just one bad visit but it has been a pattern. read more

On that date I had a horrible experience and honestly never expected the owner, Mr. Lin, to respond to my phone call or text message, much less to make things right. Not only did Mr. Lin respond, apologize and make things right, but he invited me back and I had lunch at Sakura today. I got to meet Mr. Lin personally and had a fantastic lunch! The sushi and sushi rolls were super fresh and the soup was great too! While my initial review reflected a very sad previous experience, today's second chance was truly delicious and enjoyable. The food was "meh." Nothing exciting to report on either the sushi or hibachi front. Miso soup was so diluted it might as well have been dishwater. For a fast-food type experience it was adequate. That said, the service was horrible...the young man working was so rude that I wonder if he had some sort of Tourette syndrome. Between his under-breath mutterings, dirty looks, and general "I'd much rather be somewhere else" attitude, I'm assuming he's the owner's son, and un-fireable. When they first opened it was really good but gradually the quality went down, way waaay down. I recently ate there with my husband and the food was bland and disgusting. If I could give zero stars I would but I can't so one star for this place it is. The fried rice tasted like regular white rice and the chicken was bland I couldn't even eat it.
