I bought a $700 fur coat and the size on the coat was different than the size on the actual jacket. I have been searching for a smaller size everywhere & feel so cheated. Horrible "customer service" from the Saks.com return line on 5/4/26 at 6:55pm from whomever the black lady was that was on the register that didnt want to work because it was time for her to go home. The store is basically closed with only a few racks left here and there, and what's left wasn't great. Posting a liquidation sale with a paltry 30% discount on selected merchandise is just silly considering their online store is offering 25% off everything. But let's back up and remember what this store was just six months ago. It felt claustrophobic, with each floor fractured and windowless. The Men's departments were on two floors. About 10, maybe 15 years ago, Saks decided to split their Men's merchandise into two distinct categories. Saks knew Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's had the smart casual middle market with some sophisticated designer brands, so the first direction Saks went was overpriced urban streetwear. When you entered the 7th floor Men's department it was a lot of Who Decides War, Ed Hardy, Amiri, and rag & bone. Lots of crazy sequined & ripped/distressed jeans, bomber jackets, extraordinarily expensive hoodies, and graphic tees. An entire wall was devoted to designer baseball caps. The 6th floor had brands like purple label Ralph Lauren, Boss, Zegna, Isaia, and Kiton--stuff you'd likely see in Neiman Marcus that was just enough to qualify Saks as a "luxury" store--and I'm using that sparingly. None of this was appealing to a customer like me who'd shopped at Saks back in the 90s and remembered how approachable the clothes were - especially when they had a separate Men's store across the street. It's sad to see the store close, even if they lost me as a customer years before. read more

Spacious store with decent selection. Customer service wasn't great - it was very hard to find someone to help me and when I finally found someone, he was very slow and very uninformed. I came shopping for clothes but got distracted by the shoe floor and was impressed by the shoe selection, esp the Louboutins. I purchased a pair of pants on sale at Saks Fifth Avenue and was never clearly informed that the item was final sale. When the pants did not fit, I attempted to return them and was told that not only were returns refused, but even store credit was denied. Since our hotel is so close to Michigan street we decided to take a stroll. We ended up going to Sam's fifth avenue. There were seven levels here with so many different luxury brands to choose from. It has all the famous name brand such as gucci, Burberry, Chanel etc. The staff here are helpful. read more

This is not so much for the actual store, but I ordered a pair of CL shoes for my wedding, and when they arrived they were USED and THE WRONG SIZE! Saks failed to do anything about it. I have been fighting with them since February now...I was unable to wear them for my wedding because of this, AND I'm out almost $1,000 due to THEIR mistake that they refuse to fix for me. Absolutely do not shop with them. TERRIBLE customer service. Go to Nordstrom instead. Absolutely horrendous experience. My wife was calling to inquire about a certain watch and after following the many prompts could not get to the jewelry department. I tried hoping for a better result with the only result being wasted time. This is pretty sad for a store with of good reputation. What's not to like about a Saks Fifth Avenue. This location is a nice general merchandise store - with most of the merch being high end. It is not like designer stores where you only see merch from that designer ... here you can find all the big names ... at suitably big prices. But assuming for the moment you brought your wallet, this is a good stop on the Mag Mile trail. The first thing you'll notice coming in is security ... and it is a pity that smash-and-grab activities have tried to ruin the shopping experience all over Michigan Avenue ... but in todays shopping experience, you need security ... and Saks has it all over the place starting with the front door. You will feel very safe and welcome in this store, and just have to put up with security as today's requirement. The selection of quality materials and products here is very nice. They have a large staff to help you through any questions, and they were most helpful. Anything they don't have on the floor, they can order and have delivered to your house. Good customer service. I purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue in the stores and online for decades. They were one of my favorite, high end stores. A few years ago I purchased some clothes online. A few of the pieces did not fit and were returned, in the same condition and within a day of receiving them. They sent me a gift card from their store as a refund and did not credit my original form of payment as they indicated in their return policy. I called multiple times about this. They deactivated the gift card and never credited my charge card as they indicated. I had to go through my credit card company to get a refund. Saks wouldn't answer their requests either. I'd love to trust them but they are not the same company I loved. One rep even asked me for my credit card number so she could credit my charge account. A few days later someone used that card info to purchase things themselves or sold my info. I haven't fallen for that again! Stay away from this online store! read more

I was at Saks in downtown Chicago on Michigan Avenue where they have the best alteration lady, named Amal. She was great at fixing both of my dresses for my sons' weddings. She was so helpful and she did outstanding work on my evening dresses. I just wanted to let you know that Amal is the best I have ever seen for alterations. It's always funny how attitudes are adjusted once certain behaviors are pointed out. I've always had good experiences at Saks whether on the West Coast or East Coast and this have been for 10+ years. I went in there last week and there was blood on the wall and in a puddle on the floor. There were some chairs pushed around it and a "wet floor" sign trying to stop people from walking into it but it was really inappropriate and repulsive. I thought maybe something had just happened, but we were in the store for an hour and on our way out the puddle of blood was still there! They also don't seem to care one lick about asking customers or staff to wear masks which seems really irresponsible given the delta variant is highly contagious. My mom bought stuff, but I refused. Stopped by to grab a gift for a friend. At checkout, the saleslady, Mirella, claimed I had to give my e-mail address for the receipt. I was hesitant but she insisted that it would not be used for marketing - only for the receipt and for return tracking and that it was absolutely required. By the next day, I was already receiving spam from Saks. There is no unsusbscribe link in the e-mails. I have replied multiple times to remove me from the list but I am still getting spam. No matter what you do, do not give them your e-mail address as they will blatantly lie in your face. Better yet, don't shop at Saks at all. I was in need of finding a wallet. When I entered the area, this lady (don't know her name) approached me and asked if I needed help. I told her I was just looking. As I was looking she came back over and made nasty comments about how I must not be from Chicago because they don't "sell wallets in this store". When you walk in, you walk into the fragrance depart so of course it smells lovely. Each designer has there own section and the directory makes it very easy to see which level you need to go to. I received print service and they employee was very knowledgeable of the item I was interested in. I was not able to purchase the item I wanted in store due to the size not being in stock but was offered the option to have it mailed to my home. The process was quick and besides not walking out with item in hand, it was a great experience. read more

Win! I didn't spend thousands, but she provided exceptional service regardless. Today, I got a package from Sak's which my husband delivered with a suspicious "what did you buy NOW?" look. I pleaded complete innocence and opened it to find a bunch more samples for their new fall fragrances from my new BFF Dorothy. Of course, I fell in love with one of the new fragrances and will be calling her Monday to spend a shitload. Shoes never arrived and neither FedEx nor Saks took any accountability. Saks offered no refund or replacement product since FedEx LIED and said it was delivered. Saks has the balls to tell me "well the store shipped the box so it's not really our problem." So now I'm disputing the transaction and they will have to eat the cost anyway.
