It was my last stop before taking the ferry back. I had to visit a coffee shop before heading home, right? They feature lots of beans from Copenhagen, which makes sense given the Scandinavian vibe of the interior. I debated between a pourover and a flat white, but ultimately went with something comforting for the cold season. It was a nice cup of coffee -- expertly made for sure -- though I found the service a bit cold and standoffish.

saint cecilia on yates street is a quiet downtown hideaway with minimalist, zen vibes. they're located at 535 yates street, look for the huge sign of 535 infusion xr edutainment arcade. stepping inside, you're immediately struck by the calm, gallery like atmosphere. soft light filters through the windows, highlighting clean lines, pale surfaces, and carefully curated displays of pastries, chocolates, coffee equipment, and small lifestyle goods. the space smells faintly of roasted coffee, with a subtle hint of fresh pastries, creating a quietly inviting sensory palette. i tried their maccha (ngl, this threw me off a bit) with oat milk on ice, vigorously hand whisked and served over a single large ice cube, with a smooth 3:1 oat milk to matcha ratio. the colour alone was uplifting. on the first sip, the matcha was creamy and smooth, the oat milk softening the natural earthiness while enhancing a gentle sweetness that lingers pleasantly on the palate. each mouthful felt comforting yet elevating, a perfect balance of freshness, depth, and serenity. the seating is thoughtfully designed for different moods: the sunny window bench has your back to the street, letting you watch the baristas at work, while the upstairs bar stools offer a higher vantage point to observe the light from the street below. the café is slightly warm inside, and can feel a bit stuffy. small touches like neatly arranged pastries, polished countertops, and the curated merch add to the sensory experience, whether it's the feel of a ceramic cup in your hands or the visual harmony of the space, it all contributes to a sense of calm and indulgence. overall, saint cecilia isn't just a cafe, it's a mini retreat in the city. the carefully prepared matcha, serene ambiance, and attention to detail make it a place worth lingering in, whether you're sipping slowly, browsing the goods, or just soaking in the zen atmosphere.

I loved this coffee shop. Super cool space with great coffee. It has the feeling of a spa. Upstairs seating available. It was a great find on a cold day!

One of the coziest coffee shops in Victoria! The small sign out front can make it hard to spot. They do pour over coffee which is always my go to and feature beans from LA Cabra roasters. It also doubles as sort of a clothing store as they some shirts and dresses for sale. Seating is somewhat limited as the store section takes up some square footage but there is a nook area by the window on the ground floor and some more seating up in the loft. I enjoyed my delicious pour overs! I ended up here multiple times my last visit to Victoria. Perfect refuge from a rainy day.

Visited Victoria for the first time and I would come back just to see this shop again. The interior fits my style spot on: eclectic, modern, and heavily influenced by modern specialty coffee. They currently serve two of my favorite roasters, Sey and La Cabra, and I tried nearly all their offerings for both espresso and hand brew and was blown away by all of it. For retail beans they offered Sey, La Cabra and Swerl which ranged from $30-$40 (I know, PRICEY, but worth every cent). The service was amazing, theres a range of seats to sit in, and everything about this shop is a delight. Now debating moving to Victoria!

Definitely a slow food/artisanal coffee shop. Lattes were quite good. The presentation of everything coming across the bar was amazing. This said this is a slow coffee experience... which is fine for sit down, not great for takeaway.

The little coffee shop is incredible. The people are super nice and helpful. They have just enough stuff to make you happy without all the hoopla of a redials coffee shop.

Saint Cécilia is a must stop for coffee enthusiasts! It was our first time there, and we had a great time! The host was lovely and friendly, and he recommended which coffees to get! We got Ethiopian and Honduran lattes! They were both fantastic coffees! We also had some of their pastries, which were amazing! We had the Kanelbullar, which was a cardamom bun with a cinnamon sugar filling. The Campari Canelé consisted of a caramelized exterior and soft middle. My particular favourite was the Campari Canelé! It was the best Canelé I'd tasted in a long time, and it transported me back to my travel adventures in France! I loved the aesthetics, plus they also sell merchandise and some other interesting stuffs. If you're a coffee aficionado, this coffee shop will not disappoint you because they're very passionate about what they've created! We shall return!

Probably the best coffee shop in Victoria. A friend who was a coffee aficionado suggested that we try this cafe and get their pour over or their espresso with milk. We went with the espresso with milk and tried the Burundi and the Ethiopia. I am honestly not the best at describing coffee but I was actually able to taste the flavours of the drinks we had. The Burundi had a very unique flavour with its berry undertones while the Ethiopia had more of a floral undertone instead. Both were amazing but I personally preferred the Burundi. It was a quaint and beautifully designed cafe with very knowledgeable staff to answer any questions you may have about coffee. There was even a loft which is a great spot to just relax and people watch. Definitely a must-try for coffee lovers! We'll definitely be coming back here whenever we're in Victoria.

During a short visit to Duncan for Father's Day, I was excited to spend quality time with my Dad and treat him to some new clothes. We searched for menswear options and Outlooks came up first, so we headed there full of enthusiasm and ready to shop. We walked in smiling and ready for a great experience. I introduced my Father and explained we were looking to outfit him with some new pieces. The saleswoman took one look at him and flatly said, "We have nothing for him." No effort. No conversation. No alternative suggestions. Just a dismissive brush-off and out the door we went--feeling dejected and frankly, unwelcome. Thankfully, just two doors down was Jim's Clothes Closet. Not only did they greet us warmly, but their amazing team, especially CoCo, helped my Dad find pants in the exact size the Outlook's employee insisted wouldn't fit him. On top of that, he left with shirts, belts, a hat, and a great vest--plus a smile on his face. Outlooks Menswear gave us the worst customer service experience I've had in years. If you value your time, your money, and being treated like a human being, keep walking right past this place.

They offer clothing, shoes, accessories, and clothing for both men and women, and the selection is pretty large! Brands include Storm & Marie, Filippa K, Sunja Link, and OSC. After a recent trip to Canada, I've been kind of super obsessed with some Canadian brands and want to hoard some more - there was one designer (Sunja Link) that I really fell in love with, but her new pieces are always out of stock or sold out completely within days! Still Life came to the rescue when they had a certain item in a different color that I was eyeing on, so I snagged it. They were also having some great sales, so I was able to purchase a winter jacket (OSC) as well! I also love that you can count on the fact that the pieces that you receive will be of high quality and made extremely well. I loved the super great deals, the semi-quick shipping (there was a little snafu in terms of getting the package to me, but I just need to request a signature authorization the next time), the careful shipment/packaging, as well as the great customer service follow-up (a representative actually reached out see if I received my order and if everything was of perfect quality!). I was looking to buy a few new items. I am also very cognizant that we are in a global pandemic and I have been sanitizing my hands and wearing a mask consistently. I do have an autoimmune issue, so I am aware. I am not the type of person who ignores public health mandates, but I was just so excited to be in this store I didn't see the hand sanitizer to the right as I walked in. AS soon as I started looking, like maybe I had been in the shop for about 5 seconds, this lady storms over to me and loudly demands I use the sanitizer. It was just so abrupt and really rude and embarrassing, I couldn't even respond. Her tone was so off-putting and made me feel like I was absolute trash. I worked in boutiques in New York for years in my 20s and waited tables as a college student and as a graduate student. I never spoke to people like this. Ever. It was clear to me by her really abrasive attitude that I didn't belong in that store so I sanitized my hands and left literally in tears.
