Came here on our to do a walk nearby and saw it had good reviews. Our experience was quite the opposite and frankly a disorganized disaster. We got in line, it was busy so we waited behind like 3 people before it was our turn to order. Then, these two teenage girls cut us in line and asked if they could buy the earrings. I was expecting the host taking coffee orders to tell them "yes you buy the earrings here at the cashier however there's a line.." but nope, she saw we were waiting and let them cut. Not to mention at this point there were 3 more people behind us. Finally we order, I got a turkey sandwich and she asked if I wanted the spicy or not spicy. I said not spicy and what did I get? The spicy sandwich. We ordered a matcha latte, a vanilla latte and a scone. About 20 ish minutes later the matcha latte came out with an americano... not what we ordered. The baristas got the next 3 orders wrong. After about 30 minutes we finally left with the correct drinks. That was kind of a disaster and I would not come back. read more

Really nice staff working here, they're happy to talk about local events or anything at all, even with non-regulars (that's us!). They also have really great sausage rolls. Stuffed full of lots of sausage, it was very satisfying (and maybe a bit heavier than expected). Be sure to try one if you haven't yet! A group of 6 of us finished our morning walk at this coffee shop. One did not order anything and waited outside, 3 of the 6 of us were treated poorly including one who was outright offended. - A 2 year old with their mother were inside upon our arrival. The proprietor commented to us on how cute she was. As they were leaving he mentioned it again and glared at the child as they crossed the road. Creepy. - I ordered a drink that was posted as $5.25 but when it was rung up the staff member said '$6.35 please'. I questioned $1.10 difference - was it for taxes? He said no, it was for oatmilk. I had just specified regular milk. I held up the sign showing $5.25 and he said, 'Sorry, we haven't updated our sheet'. I asked, 'so will you honour the posted price?' The proprietor then stepped in saying the supplier had increased the cost of tea and they hadn't changed the signage, and no, the price stood. It's not even that the customer is always right, which for a business should be paramount for returning clients - I was holding the posted sign! - Finally, after I had moved to wait for my drink, the proprietor made a comment to the 3rd person in our group about 'your generation (we're boomers, not dinosaurs) are too picky, looking at everything, The young ones just pay.' If there was a negative review button it would be at the extreme end minus 5. Won't be back, will spread far and wide. read more

The coffee and Baking are on point every time. Eric loves his business and it shows. The staff and vibe are very welcoming. The returning customers are proof to a great coffee stop as there are so many options but the cream rises. I get black ice americanos and they're a+. lotta electrical outlets. lotta seating. wifi is fast and has always worked. they dont eff up your drink. nice decor. not annoying music. without township there would be no civilized cafes in the whole area. we'd be meeting for stylish coffee dates and timothy effing h*rton's. no thank you. but yeah like I said quality beans. filtered water. real espresso machine. Simply, the best!! Love this little spot! Fantastic drinks, wonderful food, and a great location, with lots of street parking available.

I made here over the holiday days finally, and had a mocha - for which I was offered like, 5 different non-dairy nut milk options, which I thought was very fancy. The person who I think is the owner, was doing paperwork at a table and shouted over to the staff that there were also dairy free mint chocolate shavings they could sprinkle on top - "at no charge," he said jokingly. Anyway, importantly, the coffee (complete with nut milk and shavings), was delicious. The place seemed hopping, even in the weird purgatory time between Christmas & New Year's, so be mindful that if you're looking for somewhere to sit at a table, you might not find sieve here. read more

Amazed yet again! Ordered an Iced Matcha Green Tea Latté and Erik the owner told me the matcha was the one Jagasilk Teabar in Nootka Court uses. He elaborated and told me Township imports their matcha from Japan and it is very freshly made. I then noticed they were using an almond milk I'd never seen before (Pacific Natural Food's Barista's Series), which Erik then mentioned they get shipped in from Oregon! The latté was very good!! Highly recommend you try it. I was only going to order a coffee with a bit of milk and sweetener, but was told very nicely that Township doesn't carry sweetener crap due to its aspartame! Although I am a sweetener fan, I can definitely appreciate that Township holds their clients health as a top priority! Victoria is a small town, I was super surprised when I found a coffee this good here! This place is small, off your usual touristy places right in the middle of a residential area. But the coffee they made here is world class! It is better than many places in Seattle, Boston, or NYC. I love it! Since finding this place, I have been back here everyday! I love Township. Not only does it fill a need in the Gordon Head community but it also feels like an integral part of the community. Friendly knowledgable staff and Erik the owner is amiable and a great barista. I love that they carry Jaga Silk maccha and personally recommend the masala macchai a Japanese green tea and chai combo. Delish!! The outdoor seating is lovely and the interior open and warm with nice wood features. The food is fresh and homemade by local vendors. Often gluten free and /or caters to other dietary special needs. Love this gem in Gordon Head just across from the soccer centre. read more

Honestly, this is one of the best coffee shops ever. Strong, delicious drinks and amazing staff keep me coming back even though I live downtown. Affogato in the summer is delicious! I'm usually served by the same man (possibly the owner?) everytime I come, and he never fails to put a smile on my face. I have yet to learn his name, but you can see his passion plain as day. Of the many very fine coffee shops in greater Victoria this is my personal favourite. Excellent Coffee, excellent Tea, the best cold sandwich (meat and veg options available) in town and some of the most delicious baking you can find anywhere in the city (which is saying a lot), however the reason it's my favourite is simply because nowhere else will you find a more fun and welcoming atmosphere. I visited yesterday and the first thing I noticed was that this place is more than a coffee shop, it is a community centre. People were constantly coming in greeting one another and engaging with the owner who seemed genuinely thrilled to see each and every person who walked through the doors. As for the coffee, it is exceptional. And I am a coffee snob. Erik, the owner lovingly and expertly crafted my Africano so that it was smooth and creamy and I could taste the notes of the beans without any acid bitterness. It was perfect. This may sound extreme, but this is the best coffee shop I've been to. The basics: - Drip coffee is really good, on par with other good coffee shops. I didn't try any espresso drinks. - Sandwiches are astonishingly good: moist hearty whole wheat, super thick, good value, delicious and fresh. Way better than your average coffee shop sammy. - I also had a chocolate muffin and this too was fresh wholesome and delicious. The food tastes honest rather than just flashy and indulgent. Ie: you taste the cocoa not just sugar. Here's the big thing though: The owner was there both times I came here and he clearly cares deeply about what he's doing. Him and his staff are extremely welcoming, conversing with many regulars and strangers (such as I), and the overall atmosphere is very positive and fun. The owner's care is apparent in the coffee, food, and atmosphere which makes this a fantastic coffee shop. The staff too are great. Highly highly recommend. read more
