During a short visit to Duncan for Father's Day, I was excited to spend quality time with my Dad and treat him to some new clothes. We searched for menswear options and Outlooks came up first, so we headed there full of enthusiasm and ready to shop. We walked in smiling and ready for a great experience. I introduced my Father and explained we were looking to outfit him with some new pieces. The saleswoman took one look at him and flatly said, "We have nothing for him." No effort. No conversation. No alternative suggestions. Just a dismissive brush-off and out the door we went--feeling dejected and frankly, unwelcome. Thankfully, just two doors down was Jim's Clothes Closet. Not only did they greet us warmly, but their amazing team, especially CoCo, helped my Dad find pants in the exact size the Outlook's employee insisted wouldn't fit him. On top of that, he left with shirts, belts, a hat, and a great vest--plus a smile on his face. Outlooks Menswear gave us the worst customer service experience I've had in years. If you value your time, your money, and being treated like a human being, keep walking right past this place.

My boyfriend doesn't often shop for casual clothes so it was a nice treat for him to get such attentive customer service. The gentleman working was happy to give feedback and picked out some nice pieces while speaking about the quality of items they bring in. Most of the items are either made local or sweatshop free in the USA. This is the kind of quality I want to spend money on and is generally a deciding factor when I make any purchase. I also wanted to speak about the simplicity of the decor and layout of the shop. Great merchandising as it really draws the eye in. They also sell some quality accessories including footwear, bags, ties and sunglasses. We will certainly be back when we visit the island again.

The Roots clothing style is very classy, but comfortable and still somewhat stylish. They also draw a lot of inspiration for their women's clothing from yoga, and I love yoga so maybe that explains it. Their sweaters and wraps are beautiful and I've found the best yoga jeans here (separate brand but I haven't found many places that carry them). They also make quality leather goods, and have neat country and hockey clothing lines. It's a good thing that there's no stores in the States or I would be broke. But, it's also a shame that there aren't more stores in the States because of the sales and provincial taxes in Canada, but here's to supporting Canadians through my addiction to Roots! ;)

I was feeling a bit blue because it has been a long and hard pandemic and nothing fits me. After an…read moreafternoon shopping and not finding anything, I walked into this shop and I was very hopeful because everything looked really cute from the get-go. I was looking to buy a few new items. I am also very cognizant that we are in a global pandemic and I have been sanitizing my hands and wearing a mask consistently. I do have an autoimmune issue, so I am aware. I am not the type of person who ignores public health mandates, but I was just so excited to be in this store I didn't see the hand sanitizer to the right as I walked in. AS soon as I started looking, like maybe I had been in the shop for about 5 seconds, this lady storms over to me and loudly demands I use the sanitizer. It was just so abrupt and really rude and embarrassing, I couldn't even respond. Her tone was so off-putting and made me feel like I was absolute trash. I worked in boutiques in New York for years in my 20s and waited tables as a college student and as a graduate student. I never spoke to people like this. Ever. It was clear to me by her really abrasive attitude that I didn't belong in that store so I sanitized my hands and left literally in tears.

Very knowledgeable, very friendly and not overbearing at all. Perfect service. I have recently lost weight and she knew my size when I didn't just from looking at me. I wanted to go with a black shirt and she suggested I also try white, brought me both, and she was correct when I put them on. I wanted something dressy but also comfortable and they had a selection of great fabrics that are both. The trousers I purchased look and feel like wool but are stretchy and breathable. I budgeted for double the price from Outlooks but ended up paying half with better clothes from here. Will be returning!

I thumbed over a pretty cardigan. I wanted to buy... I had my credit cards out, but every time I went to, something told me not to. Perhaps it was the smell of incense in the air and in the fibers of the cardigan that didn't do it for me because I left without anything in hand, feeling a little blue. Well, it's AWESOME for small petite gals who have to get everything hemmed at Lululemon! Sizes go up to size 12 kids here which is great if you're a size 4 or smaller at Lululemon. The pants here are the right length for petites but honestly, you'd need to have no hips/really boyish body for them to really fit well. I can get them on, but it's not pretty. The hoodies are another story though. For those of us who are smaller on top too, the kids hoodies have sleeves that are the right length and the jackets aren't too long on me. Definitely a cute stop for trendy kids yoga wear and for shorties like me! And I save about $20 by wearing kids clothes too :) Yay!
