I have been coming to this restaurant for years and they never disappoint. Not all pho restaurants are the same and this is a prime example. My regular go to is the combination meat and seafood with rice noodle. Other places that I have gone to only offer either a meat or a skimpy seafood with little seafood options. Their Thai fried rice and calamari are one of my favorites along with the salad rolls. One thing is for sure they never changed a thing and that's what keeps me coming back. Decided to try this place off a recommendation of someone who has been coming for year. Upon walking in here, we noticed how dark it was as you walked farther into the restaurant. A little bit odd. I don't understand the good reviews at this place but they tricked me into having dinner here... Let me just say that this place does not serve authentic Vietnamese food, at least from the one and last dinner I've had here... Next time I'll drive 15 min to Portland to have pho. We got the pho super bowl for $13, which had very little flavor at all. The meats tasted old, there was so little variety of anything in there and they topped it with a pile of cilantro... but the vermicelli bowl was the real kicker. Yes it's a nice portion, way more than we could eat but the meat is not authentic for this dish. It also had grilled onions, if that tells you anything. The beef and onions is what you'd find in a broccoli beef dish at Panda Express. Vermicelli bowls are supposed to be a colder dish that is light with lots of textured. And I didn't get that with this. The service was also not good. No one greeted us when we walked in, nobody even looked up when we entered. We almost walked out after being ignored for so long until the man in the back grabbed 2 menus and raised 2 fingers asking how many were in our party. Also no one refilled our water or asked how we were. The woman working was nice but that's all I can say about the staff. All in all, a bad experience and we will definitely not come back. Went here for supper based on some recommendations online. I'm a big fan of pho and have had some decent bowls in Portland, Boston, and Cali. They were busy for a weeknight, which was a plus. The wait staff was super friendly. I have no idea what the other reviewers experienced. Our waitress was nice, and the older fella was walking around serving food and seemed like a nice guy. I ordered the salad rolls and special pho (dac biet). My friend ordered potstickers and the meatball pho. Overall impressions? Food came out super quick and was hot. Condiments at the table were great, and the beer came in a frosty glass. My pho broth was really good and had little droplets of fat in it from the beef (bonus!). My only downside was their special bowl doesn't seem to have the tripe and big chunks of tendon you get at other places. Maybe they made it whiter for the Vancouver market. Regardless, it was yummy. The salad rolls were fresh and the peanut sauce was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but still good. We will definitely be coming back. It was delightful. read more

Just when I thought Vancouver only had its cool spots in Downtown, I was wrong. Who knew just behind the 24 Hour Fitness gym and a few stores next to the Stranger Things laundry that there would be a hidden Vietnamese restaurant. Diners dining in and out and a good flow of takeout orders. They don't really specialize in anything, so their menu is an assortment of various goodies. They stick to the average price range, which is good. The portions of it come out gigantic though. My pho was heavy and came with enough noodles to feed through my lunch the next day. If you dig spicy, Bo Bun Hue is the way to goooooo. Something about it takes you back to the comfort of home. Had a taste for Thai and headed out in search of a new restaurant. Drove around and found this restaurant tucked in the side of a strip mall. We were greeted and seated by a nice man. The menu options were a plenty, I am a vegetarian, so most things can be made without meat proteins. I ordered basically a veggie stir-fry, with extra veggies. Pho Yeah! Unexpectedly coming down with a nasty cold, I knew one way for Seth to get better was getting him a hot bowl of pho. We had movie tickets for Cinetopia that night so not knowing what's good, what's not in Vancouver I reached out to Yelp for recommendations. Searching 'pho' in the app, Saigon Restaurant was the first highly rated restaurant listed. We dropped in on a Wednesday just after 6pm & were seated immediately. Service was just as quick with bringing menus, glasses of ice water, & taking our orders. We both ordered small bowls of pho ga ($6.95) but were mistakenly given the large size ($7.50). Our server noticed the error right away but assured us we would only be charged for smalls which we were. The soup was perfect to clear a cold out for just a little while. The broth was hot & full of all the right flavors, the chunks of white chicken were tender & juicy, & the portions were more than I could handle. The small order of salad rolls ($3.50) were very good. Even though there's only two rolls they're not small in size. They're large & neatly stuffed with sliced BBQ pork, shrimp, bean sprouts, lettuce, & vermicelli noodles. Great appetizer. A must try is their iced cafe sua da (Vietnamese coffee) for just $2.50. This is the cheapest I've seen it & it was fantastic. I wish I lived closer or Saigon Restaurant opened another location in SE PDX because I'd buy one every day. So good! We were impressed with Saigon Restaurant. The food tasted great especially since it helped Seth feel better, the service was quick & very nice, & the prices were very reasonable.
