I arrived at the Thai House for the first time around noon on Tuesday The restaurant was nearly empty which I immediately thought was not a good indication of what was to come. I approached a staff member as I entered and informed her that I would like to dine in. She didn't say anything as she led me to a table and handed me a menu. A few minutes later a gentleman approached with ice water and asked if I was ready to order. I ordered the Vegetable Pad Thai with medium spice. He returned about 10 minutes later with the dish. The Pad Thai consisted of 90% noodles and bean sprouts. I expected that since I ordered a Vegetable Pad Thai that there would be a variety of vegetables however there were only a few small pieces of broccoli and green cabbage. The noodles were overcooked which led to a mushy,gummy texture. I flagged down my server. He never introduced himself so I didn't catch his name. I explained to him and showed him that there were very little vegetables in the Pad Thai. He asked me if I would like the dish remade. I said that I would just like some more vegetables. He said that he would ask the cook. About 5 minutes later he returned with a soup cup full of steamed broccoli, carrots and green cabbage which I proceeded to add to the Pad Thai dish. I really expected a greater variety of vegetables with an $18 vegetarian dish. Overall my first experience was regrettable and will choose to go elsewhere for Pad Thai. read more

The food was incredibly good! It was my first visit and I will definitely be returning. Only disappointment was them running out of the shrimp won tons. Hopefully I will be able to have them next time. The service was excellent and with 23 in our party, seniors to boot, ha ha, we were served by very courteous and patient young servers. Good pad see ew for Vancouver. The noodles are doused in sauce and bursting with flavor. I got a kick out of the idea that they offer french fries so of course I had to get them. Came in a sharing portion! I shared with 2 friends and it was the best and most unconventional appetizer for a Thai place. They were hot, thin, crispy, and perfectly salted. Here again, we see a perfectly good restaurant experience go south just because someone doesn't understand the long range effect of not being forthright with a customer complaint. We've eaten here over a few dozen times, my wife loves the flavors of Thai food but unfortunately doesn't care for the heat. So, we order "mild" meaning no or little heat. Of all the times we have gone there, that is how we order and they have faithfully followed that instruction and we were pleased. But a week ago we went in, ordered the same dishes we always order and the heat was pretty much a "medium" level on one dish and my wife complained. The server blew it off as "this is the way it is cooked" and just stood by waiting for our response, I said to remove it from my bill and they did. So, as much as I hate to say it, that was not their best shot by any means. Yes, yes, I know, Thai food can be hot, but not when we explain our preferences, and especially since we've eaten the same dishes for a few years there with no problem. Restaurants have become mired in a very competitive game, and I do appreciate the great food and service here over the past years, but maybe some other place will listen to our wants and gain our business. I've driven by this place several times and finally stopped in with my husband for dinner the other night. We were seated right away, as they weren't very busy. It's a lot bigger inside than it looks! There is a few TVs to the right of the restaurant but we were seated to the left where there weren't any TVs. We noticed there was a full bar right behind where we were sitting and a staff member told us they had happy hour but I didn't see a menu for it? There is also a big room to the far left of the restaurant that looks like you could reserve for a large party. We ordered pad prik khing with chicken and the ground chicken stir fry, as well as the coconut shrimp. Pad prik khing is one of my husband's fave Thai dishes and he said it was good, flavorful. The coconut shrimp was also really good. My ground chicken basil stir fry was good. I feel like it didn't tastes flavorful or authentic like other Thai restaurants I've been to. Decent sized portions for decent prices. We will prob stop in again because my husband likes the vibe. read more

Their open concept kitchen allowed us to see the clean dishes that were used to plate our food. The tables were free from stickiness and crumbs and our seats weren't torn. This location earned a star for Food Taste. It was delicious and offered very fresh/crisp vegetables. The food was satiating without making us feel heavy or bloated. We cleared our plates. It earned a star for Vibes. We went on a Sunday afternoon, around 1:45 and it wasn't busy at all. It was not too loud and the decor did not feel overwhelming. The air inside also felt clean and refreshing. The ambient temperature was also comfortable. It earned a star for Price to Portion. We ordered one entree, two non-alcoholic beverages, and three appetizers. We paid roughly $65 pre-tip. The portions were not huge, but decent size for the price. Combined cost of appetizers made the $65 price-tag equivalent to effectively 3 entrees. It did not earn a star for Service. As I previously mentioned, it was not busy. There was one other table. The service was slow and we were not checked on, other than to take our order. If you want to go to a more intimate place and be left alone for your quiet conversation, you might prefer this location. Other things to note: ADA compliant seating, TVs can be distracting - but offered no noise or Closed Captioning, the music fit the vibes but was not too loud, the menu was comically large. Back to Thai House for a business lunch, because if I'm having a business lunch in that part of town why would I possibly eat anyplace else (except The Diner, but I digress) Once again, the service was spectacular and on point, the restaurant light and airy and not terribly busy. And the food. OMG. The food. My entree for lunch was "peanut curry". Chicken, peppers, bamboo shoots, a very nice coconut milk yellow curry and... peanut sauce, but with curry in it as well. Holy Guacamole! While driving my 83 y/o Dad and Mom to a burger joint, Dad sheepishly suggested (not really, Drill Sergeant Bob demanded!) that we try the new Thai place just two-blocks from his house. Never one to disobey my folks, we made a u-turn and headed to "Thai House". The location in a strip mall isn't the most enticing, however, once you step through the doors, you're welcomed into a simple, quiet, yet elegant dining room. We were greeted and seated immediately with water not far behind. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We started off with Shrimp Salad Rolls, which can be a pretty benign experience as a "run of the mill" starter in any Thai restaurant. Of course we needed extra peanut sauce, because who doesn't? I can eat it by the spoonful! They were made to order, at least 50% bigger than I've ever experienced and stuffed with generous amounts of shrimp. Even my mother, who is NOTORIOUS for hating everything and barely consuming 1000 calories a day, devoured TWO of them. We actually ordered more as no one wanted to share. My Mom, Dad and I shared a gigantic portion of Crab Fried Rice. Just writing about it makes me want to go get some for dinner tonight! A mountain of steaming hot rice, topped with a nice amount of scrambled egg was placed before us. My dad immediately ordered another as he was unwilling to share this item too. There were large, visible chunks of crab. Not just a stringy piece tossed here and there. It was so good! I've never had cherry tomatoes in my rice, but they were delightful! At $20, this was a STEAL! I was more than thankful for my Moms tiny appetite, which was even tinier after her salad rolls. My hubby had the Chicken Pad Thai medium spice which was definitely too hot for him. It was pretty typical appearing and my hubby isn't one to be too wordy. When asked how it was he simply said "delicious". Since I didn't sample it, I can't add to the review other than to say it looked and smelled fantastic! The service was top notch. My Dad can be a bit cantankerous, but our server just laughed and seemed not offended by his antics. My one concern is that this place remained empty on what should've been a bustling night. We ordered take out and everything was fresh, still crispy and delicious. Yumm! Pong pong chicken, orange chicken, Broccoli stir fry and BBQ pork. Our Only wish was that there was more broccoli because that was the best we have ever had in a restaurant. This is a gem and we will go back to try other dishes. read more

Everyone I have brought here agrees it is the best Thai they have ever had. The Tamarind Sauce they serve with the Grilled meats is addicting. Not too spicy but so full of flavor. Completely sublime and one of the best tasting experiences in years. Their Chicken Pad Thai is great. Their Lemongrass Curry was fantastic. Each time we come here we order a Pineapple Fried Rice to go so we have something tomorrow for lunch. We have a new Thai place less than a mile from us which is OK but we gladly travel from St. John's, OR to The Thai House in Vancouver for the best Thai in the area. First time visiting Thai House and wow, absolutely amazing food, atmosphere and service. The Pad Prik King was the favorite of the meal with delicious savory galangal flavors and cooked to perfection green beans. The Pineapple Fried rice was beautifully presented and flavorful. Finally the lemongrass chicken and pad Thai was the perfect third compliment to the meal. Food here is exceptional! Everything we ordered was delicious! We gobbled it up so quickly that I never snapped a pic, which is unusual for me. The Drunken Noodles, ordered medium spicy, had the perfect kick. Wide rice noodles cooked perfectly al dente, the brown sauce flavorful and not too sweet, which unfortunately is often the case. Combined with red and green bell peppers, fresh basil, onions, chili and garlic - it was the perfect flavor profile hitting every note. Spicy, sweet, sour, salty - I had to stop myself from eating it all because I wanted to savor some for lunch the next day. My friends don't like spice so they ordered the Thai BBQ chicken, boneless thighs with a sweet glaze and the most tender meat! Served with sliced cucumbers and rice, it's a great dish for those who prefer protein over veggies. The Thai Ginger with chicken had the most tantalizing aroma from the shredded ginger and onions. Mushrooms, bell peppers, green onions rounded out the stir fry dish. Served with jasmine rice, it was a hearty and satisfying meal. My friends order here weekly and since I was staying with them during our three days of triple digits (needed their air conditioning) I offered to treat them to a take out from Thai House. They were right, everything was hot, flavorful and absolute delicious. Friendly and fast ordering. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines as I love the flavor profile, the use of fresh basil and fish sauce, the veggies and rice noodles. From my experience with many Thai restaurants in and outside of Portland/Vancouver, Thai House makes some seriously good eats. Already looking forward to my next meal. I confused this Thai House with one in a WA city. Tried to my review without success. My apologies.

I realize that some restaurants don't give the same attention to quality for takeout and delivery. But if there's a restaurant we want to try before dining in, we'll often order takeout first. That was the case with Thai House. We liked the menu offerings and so we ordered two dishes for takeout: the Pad Thai with Tofu and the Crispy Chicken with Basil. First the positive: dishes were ready and warm when I picked them up at the restaurant. The portions were a good size, important because of the relatively high price: Thai House items seem higher than other Thai restaurants in our area. But....the Pad Thai was missing green onion and crushed peanuts. These are standard ingredients for this dish, are specifically cited on the menu, and are evident in the restaurant's photos of the dish. Not good. The Crispy Chicken had a tasty sauce, but suffered from thin pieces that were more batter than chicken. I've had much better elsewhere and was disappointed. Our experience with these two dishes is discouraging and we'll find other Thai restaurants for our future meals. read more

Came to this new Thai spot for lunch. My friend and I ordered a couple of different things to share. The coconut shrimp appetizer was fabulously presented and tasty crunchy shrimp. The sweet sauce that came with it was really good. We ordered a yellow curry. I found the sauce to be extremely thin. Almost like broth actually. Big chunks of peppers in there which was not my favorite. The white rice that came with it was perfectly cooked and tasty.We ordered the stir fried wide noodles with beef. The sauce that was on it was pretty tasty although the noodles and beef were just OK. We each had a Thai iced tea. Very good. This is a great new restaurant! The menu has each item labeled with ingredients so it's easy to find gluten free or vegan dishes. The chicken satay was the best I've had, moist and flavorful with yummy peanut sauce. We liked the calamari, the pad Thai, the basil fried rice and the stir fried chicken.
