A fun 7 course meal, almost like a Vietnamese barbecue. We cooked our own meats and rolled them in rice paper with veggies, then dipped in a fish sauce. We also got the whole fish and that was delicious too.

We always want to support our viet restaurants but this is uncall for. Their fried fish is very good. I'm just upset that they always give us rotten veggies. The food cost almost $50.

Hands down one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I've ever been to -- and that's saying a lot considering I used to live in LA, where great Vietnamese food is everywhere. The catfish was unbelievable -- perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. I have no idea how they pulled that off, but it's the kind of dish that makes you stop mid-bite just to appreciate it. I usually judge a dish by whether I could make it at home, and this catfish? Not a chance. It's a must-try. We also ordered the roast chicken, and it was just as impressive. You can taste the quality -- like it came from a real farm, free-range and full of flavor. On top of the amazing food, the service was just as excellent. Our server was incredibly attentive without being overbearing, and the dishes came out fast, hot, and beautifully plated. Everything about the experience felt smooth and effortless, which only made the food stand out even more. The portions are generous, every dish was packed with unique and vibrant flavors, and there wasn't a single bite I didn't enjoy. This place is something special -- I already can't wait to go back.

I Just ordered the fish today and so disappointed. The fish is so dry and no juicy at all. Nothing looks like other people's pictures.

Decently clean environment. Friendly staff. Pretty good food! Plenty of open space for family style/ group to get together to eat. Had the "bo 7 mon" subbed the meatball for extra bo lot. The meats are pretty big! The soup is alphabet soup. I was expecting rice porridge so thar was kinda funny to me, because I've never came across that. I would def stop by again if I was back in town and give their other dishes a try.

The waiter's thumb was in our food when he handed it to us. Kind of gross, but no big deal as we just avoided eating the part he touched. Later, we noticed that we received the wrong dish. When we inquired about it, he had little care and claimed that we told him incorrectly. Maybe this guy was new or something. Manager didn't care either and it took two tries to get it resolved. Interior decor can use a little bit of maintenance. It looks as though management gave up trying. The original decor is falling apart and is a bit sad to see. People come here for the food though. The food is decent. What stood out was the bo la lot. Had good flavor and wasn't dry. The rest of the dishes were ok except for one of the meats that wasn't seasoned or marinated. Perhaps it's meant to be eaten with ample amount of sauce, but I wasn't a fan. This place has been here for a long time. My parents used to dine here when I was little. Sad to have received poor service which led to a bad experience. I wouldn't come back for a while (if they are still open).

I came here just for their grilled meat with perilla leaves. It's called Bo la lot in Vietnamese. Really juicy and has a nice Smokey flavor. It definitely satisfy my craving and everything was flavorful.

I've been coming here for years! Beware, you will smell like food after eating here. Authentic Vietnamese food! Inside the walls are painted with famous Vietnamese tourist spots. There are traditional Vietnamese instruments on display as well. Up front, there is a sit lo, Vietnamese taxi bike. The service is always stellar. The lady is extremely efficient and does the work of 4 ppl! Refilling waters, cleaning up plates, running entres, she does it all! Even when it is busy, she is able to keep up! The Baked catfish is what I usually get as well as the 7 course beef. This is a must try if you're looking for do it your own spring rolls!

Service was not great. I went to the counter to pour my own water. We did the 7 beef. Only the grape leaves wrapped beef and the one big meatball was decent. Everything else was overcooked and dry. The raw beef was just no flavor. We also ordered the catfish. Cooked perfectly and rather large for a medium. But no taste to it. Was really bland. Fish sauce didn't save it. But the skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. And the egg rolls cha gio was very good. Nice and crispy and fat. Overall, not something I'd wanna try again.

EDITED with latest info, but wanted to offer the initial perception of the situation below in disclaimer section; the food review still remains. I will add 1* back but still should be better about this in my opinion. Overall: WARNING - further investigation of the tip situation was that they automatically charge 18% for parties of 6+, BUT this is NOT noted on the bill at the time of payment; they added it on after. At worst, this dubious and misleading; at best this is very confusing. Be upfront and transparent with your customers! Good: In honesty, the food is pretty decent with a few slip ups, The meatballs were juicy and flavorful, Lots of fresh vegetables with the bo bay mon. Serving sizes felt good. Bad: The chili present at the table was not really spicy at all. The bo la lot (wrapped in betel leaf) was on the dry side - per conversions, this is not typical. And the banh hoi was dripping with water - way too soggy. The building was rather cold and damp; I could see it being uncomfortable (or maybe slightly unsafe for people with poor mobility?) Disclaimer: the following section has been redeemed to some extent (noted above) -- WARNING - make sure to fill in all tip/total on the bill; or else they might force a tip in you, like they did my party - despite us leaving a cash tip. This alone murks my perception of this restaurant - there are likely other places you can find bo bay mon without having to worry about this. Ugly; They wrote in a tip after we left a cash tip after investigating the cc charge. This is the sole reason for the 1* rating. Falling under some shady Vietnamese stereotypes I guess... -- end Disclaimer

When I'm craving authentic Vietnamese food, this is kind of our spot. There is never really any wait when we got. We went at 7pm on a Friday. We love ordering their banh xeo which is cooked just like my moms. Crispy, flavorful and huge. We also get the fried catfish (large) and it feeds 5 people enough! We got two orders of the Bo la lot & we love wrapping it in the rice paper. They are BYOLiquor too!

    Mary V.

Ca nuong, bo nhung dam, bo nuong vi, banh xeo... they had it all. I felt like I died and went to heaven. Many of these items are specialties and even my parents don't make them at home anymore. Imagine my delight, when I discovered this spot on my most recent visit to Houston! I want to know how they made the ca nuong -- best dish of the meal. Service was a bit slow but they were slammed. So, not their fault. Only complaint is their mam nem (anchovy dipping sauce) was too watered down and sweet. I wanted something for savory.

The staff here is a hot mess, the food and menu is inconsistent, but the 7 beef course is great! They were not busy at all when we came in (maybe 2-3 tables filled up out of the whole banquet-style restaurant). The menu can be a little intimidating seeing as there are SO many items but, rest assured, they may actually be out of most of those items because that's exactly what happened when we came in. We were interested in a lot of the dishes (including the highly acclaimed fish) and drinks but the waitress let us know that they didn't have X dish. Why have such an expansive menu then if you are out of most of the items? I ordered the Cm Gà Nớng Bì Chả Trứng Chiên/Rice with Vietnamese meatball and egg and the chicken was SO dry. I really don't recommend ordering anything from her with the exception of the Bò 7 Món (Seven Courses) and maybe the shrimp crackers/chips. It felt like I was back in Vietnam eating these wraps with my cousins and since it's such a tedious dish to prepare at home, it's a great opportunity to order while eating out. I don't think it's worth it spending money and effort trying to order other dishes.

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.

Upon arriving, every table was taken except our table w a reserved sign on it. The restaurant was bustling, but I could still hear my husband over the music and noise. The menu is huge!!! I didn't know where to start. But our server, Vanessa, helped us make a few choices. We started off w bánh xèo tostadas, bánh béo, & carpaccio. Then we had calamari and their steak special. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

We got there 15 minutes before to make sure we could find parking. They have a small lot but all the spaces were taken despite being before 6 pm on a weekday. And a few spots had noticeable broken glass so be careful. We fortunately found street parking close by; double checked the signs because I ain't getting towed for nothing. Then I double checked inside with staff to make sure where I parked was ok. On to the food: we got several happy hour appetizer items: soy garlic wings, Brussels sprouts, bao bun, roasted oysters. All was good but not amazing. I then ordered the pho tai chinh for myself - I was quite impressed with the portions and the price! Wifey got the lemongrass pork banh mi - good but not amazing. Overall I would say the food taste and portions were good, but note this is elevated Asian cuisine, so it'll run you $20-$30 minimum. Now the service - definitely super friendly staff. It was our first time there so maybe they brought out the extra friendliness. Even the chef came out and greeted us to make sure we liked the food. Waitress was very kind and checked on our table a LOT. Almost too much. Overall a good experience, yummy food, not a fan of the parking (a common problem in the Heights), and expensive for Asian food but that's expected. Enjoy!

My friends ordered the filet mignon and the chicken and they were equally as impressed! I ordered the espresso mousse for dessert which comes out in the shape of a coffee bean. Cuteeee and perfect! This place didn't disappoint and it is a must visit.

This is a higher end fine dining restaurant so you should expect the portion sizes and price to be pretty comparable to a lot of other finer dining restaurants. Overall the food's flavor was fantastic. I ordered the king salmon clay pot. I thought the salmon was so tasty! They added pepper and sauce to the salmon - It was tender and flavorful and paired nicely with white rice. The quail (not pictured below) also was super flavorful and was cooked so well it tasted like beef. The soup was also light and refreshing, similar to a west lake soup. It was thicker consistency and had cilantro and chucks of lobster. The drinks served were also super balanced. We ordered the mojito and the dragon fruit cocktail. The mojito was the right balance between minty and sweet with just a hint of alcohol flavor. For the dragon fruit cocktail, it was very fruity, on the sweeter side but not overpowering and was topped with egg whites to give it a little bit of frothiness. I will say, we are slightly underdressed to enter this establishment. Everything seemed so luxurious and many people were in formal business wear! Keep this in mind if you go! There is a parking deck right next to the location as well, both self parking and valet!
