THE GOOD ---------------- + Solid Vietnamese food and tasted better than my 1st experience here. ++++ Viet Paella Fried Rice - On their Specials menu. Lot of shrimp and other seafood. Good flavor to the fried rice and there was PLENTY of it. Definitely an interesting take on your traditional paella. ++++ Grilled Chicken Pho - Excellent pho and flavorful broth. Chicken was tender and tasty. ++++ Saigon Spicy Noodles with Crispy Pork Belly - Was OK. Basically a spicy chow fun with 5 large slices of pork belly laid on top of it. It wasn't bad, but nothing stood out either. + Menu consist of what most would consider traditional Vietnamese food, with the pho being what most people order. + Interior is spacious and the tables are all well spaced out. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Extremely "informal" service. ---- The young waiters and waitresses are all business here. Not much pleasantries or check ins while you're dining. Some might like this no frills approach, but I prefer a more personable dining experience. - No private parking lot, as is the case for most restaurants in Fort Lee. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came by at 5:30 PM on a freeeeezing January Saturday evening and it was already crowded at 6 PM. There was a decent amount of people waiting, but within 15 minutes most of them were seated.
The Xtra large phoe was amazing. The rib meat just melted it's soon as I picked up using the chopsticks. It literally broke apart. The soup was clear broth served in just right temperature. The garnish was freshly chopped with jalapeño slices and bean sprouts served in cold. You gotta try this place. I am too full to try anything else but if I had a room...I definitely try more. Oh the service was also prompt and friendly. The atmospheres is eccentric with vietmese bicycle as a central display.
Mehhh, I hate having a disappointing meal. I was really craving pho, so I decided to check out Saigon Kitchen, a Vietnamese eatery located in the heart of Fort Lee. The restaurant has a casual and cozy atmosphere with touches of traditional decor like bamboo sticks, wooden furniture, and open spaces with natural light. There are tables and booths to accommodate both small and large groups. I came in as a solo diner on a weekday afternoon and was seated immediately. There can be long wait times during peak dining hours, so I suggest coming earlier if you don't want to wait for a while. The menu has your classic Vietnamese dishes like pho, banh mi, shaken beef cubes, lemongrass chicken, etc. They also have specialty Asian fusion dishes. Prices are fair and there's a 5% cash discount. No complaints on the service. The servers are very friendly and warm. They start you off with complimentary hot tea. My food came out quickly. I ordered... *Lemongrass Beef Grilled Skewers $9.95 (includes 2 skewers, spring onion, fried onion flakes, & soy bean peanut sauce) - The flavors were SO OFF. The peanut sauce had a funky taste. It barely tasted like peanuts. I don't know if they used too much vinegar or sugar, but either way... the ingredients were completely unbalanced! The lemongrass marinade was not good at all. Meat that's been marinated with lemongrass usually has a very fragrant, tangy, and smoky aroma... this was not the case here. There was an overpowering minty/herbal/grassy flavor. Did they forget to add in shallots, garlic, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime, or soy sauce???? The beef was a bit tough and chewy... not tender at all. *Pho Beef Combo (Phở Dặc Biệt) (includes beef broth, rice noodles, eye of round steak, brisket, tripe, tendon, meatballs, white onion, cilantro, & scallions with side of raw bean sprouts, thai basil, jalapeno pepper, & lime) $16.95 - This was decent... not bad, but not amazing. To my disappointment, the broth wasn't that aromatic, hot, or flavorful. It did not taste very beefy and the toasted spices like star anise, cinnamon, and coriander didn't shine through. Some of the cuts of beef were too chewy. The flat rice noodles were silky and fresh. They give you a lot of noodles and broth, but the meat portion is skimpy. I didn't enjoy my pho, so I had half of the bowl left over. I hate wasting food, so I packed it up and gave it to someone else LOL. Not a terrible experience overall, but not memorable or great either. The staff is sweet and the ambiance is super homey... but the food was a disappointment. It didn't hit the spot and it didn't stand out from other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to...Maybe I have to try other dishes or give them a second shot...? I'm not completely crossing this place off my list, but I'm not sure if I'd come back when there's better options in the area.
Every time I order from here, it feels a bit like a surprise. The recipes don't seem entirely consistent. Sometimes the texture of the chicken changes, other times the sauce does. This time around, the chicken was less crispy than my previous order and much more heavily sauced. That said, it was still incredibly tasty. However, both my husband and I experienced some stomach discomfort and bloating afterward, despite ordering different dishes. I hadn't had this reaction before, so I'm not sure if it was related to an ingredient like MSG or just an off night. I do wish there were more consistency overall, but I was genuinely pleased with the portion size this time; it was noticeably larger and felt like a great value. I'll continue ordering from here because I really enjoy the flavors, and it's still the best Vietnamese food I've found so far in the Fort Lee area.
Food was wonderful, as were the servers! The place itself was clean and had amazing huge windows so super bright in there! Would definitely recommend this place if you're near.
Great service, I loved that they also serve hot tea instead of cold tap water. The beef rib pho was a good portion and the soup was fine - it was slightly bland though. The broth was a luke warm temperature whip I was surprised by. I asked around and everyone else's pho broth was also like warm. Temperature makes a big difference in pho because it brings out the different spices.
Once again I was underwhelmed by my bowl of pho. How things have changed. What used to be a fragrant and tasty broth is now now mild and in serious need of doctoring in order to give is decent flavor. Placed a pickup order and restaurant was packed on a snowy afternoon. Will try ordering something else in hopes of getting a more flavorful meal.
- Street parking only; can be challenging during the dinner rush in this busy area - Busy on a Saturday evening; we arrived around 5:30pm and were seated immediately, but a wait began forming before 6pm - Warm lighting and moderate noise level - Decent amount of seating with tables spaced comfortably apart; a few semi-cozy nooks with larger tables that work well for bigger parties - Slight draft inside from the wintry evening every time the door was opened - Service was nonchalant and purely transactional--very much a "get in, order, eat, and get out" vibe; no check-ins after food was served, and we had to grab our own containers to pack up leftovers - Food was OK: Viet "Paella" Fried Rice (limited-time specials menu) had rich seafood flavor and was generously portioned; Saigon Spicy Noodles with Crispy Pork Belly (specials menu) was disappointing with noodles that were unevenly cooked and under-seasoned, and the pork belly skin wasn't crispy, instead hard and chewy; Grilled Chicken Pho was enjoyable overall--broth had good depth and the chicken was well-seasoned and moist - Only one restroom in the restaurant, and it could've used more attention in terms of cleanliness; it was also a bit stressful when taking our toddler in--someone started banging on the door repeatedly just seconds after we locked it...
I came here for lunch with friends and had a good meal! The interior is spacious, with lots of tables for groups of different sizes. Service here is pretty quick, and good. We ordered their spring rolls, salad rolls, and lemongrass wings for appetizers and for entrees, we tried their BBH, vermicelli bowl, and fried rice. Their spring rolls were solid but I felt like the rice paper was a bit hard. Their other appetizers were also decent but nothing crazy. Their entrees were really good portions and full of meat and veggies, which I loved. Although the BBH broth wasn't bad, I noticed that they used the wrong type of noodle for the soup (they used pho noodles). Their vermicelli bowl was good though! And, their fried rice (which I typically wouldn't order) was actually a favorite at our table.
Been here a couple times and really enjoyed my meal. Last time I came here I got the regular pho with beef and brisket ($13.95) and the soup base alone was very tasty. There is a good amount of beef and brisket that comes with it. The table has sriracha and hoisin sauce, that's all you really need. Also the fried calamari is soooo good, finished it quick. Overall I had a good experience and I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for pho. * Good service * Municipal parking * Unisex restroom
My husband's family and I have been here multiple occasions. We absolutely love the food here. If you're coming here at night time, be prepared to wait. That was our first mistake the first time we tried to come here at night with no reservation. Since we were a party of 6 with 3 additional little ones, we couldn't be seat for a while. Since then, we usually come here midday around 4pm. The food is delicious. Big portion so the prices of the food are reasonable. The staff here are always nice. Fun fact, there is where my now husband and I brought his parents to tell them we wanted their blessings to get married.
We were back at SK for Sunday lunch. We walked in few minutes after opening, so got a table right away. The restaurant got almost full within next 15 minutes. The restaurant as usual, was super clean, organized and filled with wonderful decors. This time I had couple of new items that I didn't try before. The chicken wings were surprisingly really good. Soft moist chicken with layer of crispy skin. Then I had the grilled rice platter with chicken, beef and shrimp. The plate came with huge chunks of rice, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and of course the delicious fish sauce. Loved everything in the plate, tasted so good. Service was excellent. They always check on the guests, clean out empty plates, refill tea/water cups. Food came out super quick. Overall it was another great family lunch at SK for us.
Saigon kitchen consistently delivers good quality food. We have been here for many years. Very authentic Vietnamese food. The coffee is super powerful. Thai ice tea has strong milk flavor. Clean and spacious inside. We had a group of 5 so they gave us a section at the back. The staff were always nice and friendly. Very attentive. I will recommend to go by opening time otherwise you might have to wait for a while for a table.

I don't know if it was because I was outside in the cold breeze all day but why is this place so delicious?! I've tried pho many times in different places and I think this has to be one of the top pho places on my list. My friends and I ordered pho with beef and brisket and spicy lemon grass pho. I don't have a single complaint about this place. The waiter was also so kind, cordial and so polite. I'm from Queens but I would go there to eat their pho again. I would also love to try different things from their menu when I come back. read more
We ordered takeout from here through Uber Eats, and the food was pretty good! We ordered two beef & brisket pho's, a pork belly banh mi, and summer rolls Overall, very good food. The soup came separate from the noodles and you just had to pour it into the noodle bowls. The broth was very clean, and didn't taste like a bunch of MSG was thrown and you would get the super thirsty feeling afterward from the MSG. The summer rolls were solid, and the pork belly banh mi was full of flavor. Great pho place compared to the other ones in the area. Will definitely be coming back again! read more
Tried this spot for takeout, since it's a favorite of my son and his girlfriend and it didn't disappoint. We started with the Shrimp Summer Roll. Larger than others I've tried, they were light, fresh and delicious. Came with a great dipping sauce as well. For our mains I had the Shaken Beef, tender meat in a light flavorful sauce, mixed with a tomato, cucumber and onion salad and a side of white rice. I definitely enjoyed this dish. My wife had the Crab Fried Rice which was excellent. There was an ample amount of whole fresh lumped crab meat on top of a flavorful fried rice. Might get this for myself next time. My son had a wonderful Beef Pad Thai and his girl enjoyed the Curry Chicken Stew. Overall this was a great first experience and we will definitely come here for more takeout and hopefully to dine in when this crisis is behind us. read more

I love their Pho! Definitely the best in Fort Lee. Price and size are satisfied. Bhan mi is also good! Also, their service is excellent. I was very happy to eat there. :) Highly recommended! read more

Saigon Kitchen is a great place for a having a conversation over a meal. Unlike most spots in Fort Lee, the tables are comfortably spaced out with nice decor and friendly staff. For appetizers, I got the calamari which was pretty standard but the shrimp summer rolls were quite tasty and refreshing. For my entree, I got the beef and brisket pho, which was a bit bland, though it was a rather large with a hearty helping of brussel sprouts. Even though the food isn't the most unique or best, it's still a decent option for a nice place to sit down and grab some food. read more
After a shopping marathon to the American Dream and the Jersey Garden malls, my partner's family and I gathered an appetite and came to this establishment serving Vietnamese and Thai cuisine for dinner. Located in Fort Lee, Saigon Kitchen has been on the radar for a while after reading the favorable reviews. It was also voted best restaurant by Yelp in 2018. Since they don't take reservations, we got a table right away for 3. Exchanged a few words with friendly manager, Peter after ordering the Chicken Pad Thai consisting of rice noodles, egg, sprouts and without crushed peanuts, chicken fried rice and beef and brisket pho soup. The big hot soup had fresh ingredients and balanced flavors in its broth. It was so healthy, light, well seasoned and seemed to hit the spot. The remaining meals were tasty, well seasoned with no complaints. The staff was friendly and attentive. The prices were reasonable. As written on the staff's t-shirt reads" this place is pho-nominal" which we can highly recommend it. read more
Amazing Vietnamese food! The pho broth was so so delicious and flavorful, not greasy. And the noodles were cooked perfectly. My go to is the beef vermicelli which was incredible. The meat is marinated so well and the mix of noodles, fresh veggies and sauce make such a great combo. There is plenty of seating and service was great! This place was a little hard to find especially while also trying to find street parking (when there are 5 cars behind you)! My go to dishes are usually pho or the grilled pork and spring roll vermicelli noodles. Needless to say, it was hot out so I opted for the vermicelli dish. The regular vermicelli dish only let me pick one meat so I opted for the combo platter which gave me three options - I ordered grilled pork, pork belly and spring rolls. I was honestly disappointed. The grilled pork is so SO thinly sliced (wasn't that flavorful either) and the pork belly was fried and extremely dry. Spring rolls were solid and I guess portion was generous, too. Though, I was disappointed with the pickled radish and carrots (very thinly sliced and only a few pieces). A lot of the previous reviews rave about the pho and broth so I'll definitely give this restaurant a try again. I only hope the pho lives up to the expectation! read more

The people here are extremely nice. That alone goes a long way. The food is good. The brisket pho is vey good. Comes out piping hot and plentiful. Enjoyable dish besting that of other Vietnamese establishments in tenafly. The banh mi is good. Not nearly as thick and mouth filling as what a traditionalist would expect but it's hot, with a nice crispy toasted bread. Prices are fair. Services is great. The water has mint and cucumber which makes for a nice light flavorful blast on a hot day. read more

I'm so glad to have found this pho spot; it's definitely my favorite in the area. After trying various disappointing pho spots around north jersey/NYC, I almost gave up hope of finding a pho spot I'd return to time after time. (I'm coming from years of living in Philly where there are multiple mouth watering and authentic pho restaurants). I frequent this pho spot pretty much weekly, sometimes more - it's just that good. They always use fresh ingredients. Their beef/brisket pho is aromatic, rich, and packed with the perfect balance of flavors. They are generous with the fresh scallions and onions which really completes the flavor profile, IMO. The basil, bean sprouts, and jalapenos served on the side are always extremely fresh. The meat is good, there are some days where it's sliced thicker and some days it's more thinly sliced. I prefer when the beef is sliced very thin, but that's just personal preference. Their spicy lemongrass soup is so savory without being overly salty. They also generously garnish this dish with fresh scallions - mmm, yum. We usually also order a pork banh mi - it's consistently delicious. The baguette is always super fresh and soft, and they put extra pickled radish, sliced jalapenos, and fresh cilantro on the side to add in. The ambiance is relaxing and always clean. Service is consistently good. A huge plus is free parking! (Underneath the building - entrance to enter the parking garage is off Center Street). read more

Pretty solid Viet spot in the area!! I had the spicy lemongrass bun bo. We had the spring rolls to share and it came out fast and freshly fried. The spicy lemongrass soup was so flavorful with a good amount of spices. I wish they used the traditional noodles in bun bo hue instead of pho vermicelli noodles, but that's just personal preference. They give an okay amount of meat but it was a little lean. The servers are super attentive and constantly checking on us, refilling our tea/water and such. They have a good amount of outdoor seating and since the service is so fast, the wait probably wouldn't be long even if it was more busy!! read more
Yas! My girlfriend and I went here for restaurant week and definitely got a bang for our buck! I'm not sure if they have the same everyday menu as they did for restaurant week because I can't seem to find the crab appetizer we ordered on their online menu. My girlfriend and I thought it tasted a little fishy. We were a big fan of the Vietnamese Chicken Wings. The flavor was tangy and sweet. I also enjoyed the beef pho. They gave a whole lot of it! 9/10/2021 Hi! So my dad placed a phone order for 3 seafood pho and when we came home we got 3 brisket phos instead LOL. maybe a human error from my dad placing the order or the person who picked up the phone accidentally took our order as brisket. Im not complaining cause I don't mind eating the beef & brisket, but my parents do mind about these things especially my mom who loves the seafood pho. I love this place and their seafood pho. the staffs always took good care of me whenever i dine in alone. Just giving you guys a heads up. and Wow look at the one stars how rude LOL read more
I have been coming here for a long time and it's a solid place with good food, reasonable prices and ok service. I haven't been in a long time because every time I want to go it is Sunday and they don't work on Sundays... When I started going there the place was always full but recently they redesigned the menu and it hasn't been as busy. Staff also is not as up beat as before. My favorite dish is the vegetarian soup. It's a large portion with a lot of veggies that is extremely satisfying on cold days. My husband likes the crab fried rice. The menu is large with many options. It's one of those hidden gems in Fort Lee where you can get good food without breaking the bank. Recommended. read more

This location was the closest to our air bnb and I got to say it wasn't bad at all, I'm normally very picky on my pho broth and they did not disappoint. Also tried an order of their egg rolls and lemongrass stalk and it was amazing! If I'm ever back in town will definitely come back here. Staff there was also very friendly and attentive. I've been to plenty of pho establishments in Bergen County but this one is by far my favorite! The broth is absolutely amazing. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the pho, but the pork pho was the best. We ordered the peppered calamari and wings as apps and those were good too, but nothing special. We also had an order of chicken fried rice and that was standard. The pho is stellar so if you're ever craving, this is the place to check out. read more
Fulfilled my cravings of crunchy, savory meat rolls and a delicious, flavor exploding Banh-mi!! We heard this was a new restaurant so I wasn't expecting much - but we were welcomed with such friendly customer service, which made our dining experience very comfortable and accommodating. For those who need that visual before ordering, this menu has the most vibrant (and mouthwatering) pictures to help you make a decision! Came here for dinner tonight for the first time with my boyfriend - truly spectacular! I barely write restaurant reviews but I had to make an exception for this place because of an unexpected game-changing entree: the curry chicken stew! I spent four months living in Vietnam during the end of 2009 and have been searching ever since for a similar taste of the life-changing chicken curry stew that I used to eat 2-3 times a week over there. And the curry chicken here is the closest I've come to it yet! The pictures of this kind of dish are never as "sexy" as a spicy lemongrass pho, for example, but taste trumps all: COME HERE ASAP AND EAT ALL THE CURRY CHICKEN STEW THAT YOU CAN!!!!! We started our meal off with the tofu and shrimp spring rolls (both spectacular) followed by the beef skewers (also spectacular.) One of our servers/hosts - Richard - was very kind and accommodating. The whole staff was very nice! You also get complimentary limeade with your meal. Can't think of a better way to end a Sunday evening :-) read more

Was contemplating to whether walk to the nearest pho place or to take a Lyft ride here. Best decision on a rainy Sunday, I arrived and was greeted with a cup of warm Jasmine tea. The interior carries a modern vibe, which would make you think they're serving Americanized pho. But no, big no, I was wrong! I sat down for a $9 beef brisket pho and it took me back to my hometown of the 3rd District, Sai Gon, Vietnam. The broth was sweet and tangy, added 2 slices of lime and a generous dash of Sriracha hot chili sauce. Beef tenders fell off the bone and melted into my mouth. This is it. The similar soft aroma of Vietnam and deep taste of charred spices. I'd be damned if this isn't the best pho house in New Jersey. P.S. The waiter was excellent and the hostess (red haired) carries amazing table manners. read more

We loved everything we ate here. The sugarcane shrimp was a mildly spiced shrimp ball skewered through grilled sugarcane. The end bits of the sugarcane were juicy to chew on. The crab fried rice was delicious with huge lumps of jumbo, sweet crab meat on top. We ate the fried rice with sriracha on the side. The pork chops were spiced with turmeric and were juicy. The rice platter that the pork chops come with was very generous for one portion. Complimentary green tea is served as soon as you are seated. The restaurant is very clean. Service is fast and Covid precautions are taken with all the servers wearing masks and tables are socially distanced. We enjoyed our meal here. read more

Strong 3.5..... I was in the mood for some Pho so I looked and looked and looked. Some places opened late. Some places didn't have indoor dining. Then I come across Saigon Kitchen and the decision was made. The restaurant is nicely laid out. We got plenty of stuff to try. We started with spring rolls and summer rolls. The spring rolls ($8) were juicy and perfectly fried, creating a super crisp exterior. The summer rolls ($7) were ok, but the peanut sauce made up for it. You can dip just about anything in there. The pork belly banh mi ($9) was a bit of a let down. A little pricey for the small amount of meat that it has, and it was also lacking flavor. The wings ($8.50), while perfectly executed, also left something to be desired in the flavor department. However, they were crispy, sticky, and juicy and moist inside. The basa ($16) was a good dish. The fish was well cooked, tender yet meaty. The star of the meal to me was the pho ($13). That starts with a flavorful broth as the base, which they covered. We got the beef combo. I think there was brisket, eye round, meatballs, tendon, and tripe. Lots of great flavors and textures. I would certainly return. There are some other things I'd like to try. Give them a try if you are in the area. ENJOY!!! read more
