So happy to support Saigon Kitchen during this coronavirus quarantine by ordering takeout. The ordering process was seamless online and our food was ready for pickup within 15 minutes. They even ask that you give them a call when you arrive so they can bring out your order to your car. I got my go-to order, the vegetarian pho, and my boyfriend tried something new with their vermicelli platter. Tried this spot for takeout, since it's a favorite of my son and his girlfriend and it didn't disappoint. We started with the Shrimp Summer Roll. Larger than others I've tried, they were light, fresh and delicious. Came with a great dipping sauce as well. For our mains I had the Shaken Beef, tender meat in a light flavorful sauce, mixed with a tomato, cucumber and onion salad and a side of white rice. I definitely enjoyed this dish. My wife had the Crab Fried Rice which was excellent. There was an ample amount of whole fresh lumped crab meat on top of a flavorful fried rice. Might get this for myself next time. Saigon Kitchen is a great place for a having a conversation over a meal. Unlike most spots in Fort Lee, the tables are comfortably spaced out with nice decor and friendly staff. For appetizers, I got the calamari which was pretty standard but the shrimp summer rolls were quite tasty and refreshing. For my entree, I got the beef and brisket pho, which was a bit bland, though it was a rather large with a hearty helping of brussel sprouts. Had dinner tonight. Shockingly, we and few customers witnessed a sizeable dark color hair rat sped across the restaurant floor between the dining tables (from the direction of the kitchen) to the small crevasses embedded in the wall of the restaurant. The rodent hid and at one point poke its head out. Customers notified the restaurant staff immediately and they put a barricade along the wall to prevent the rat from coming out. Exchanged a few words with friendly manager, Peter after ordering the Chicken Pad Thai consisting of rice noodles, egg, sprouts and without crushed peanuts, chicken fried rice and beef and brisket pho soup. The big hot soup had fresh ingredients and balanced flavors in its broth. It was so healthy, light, well seasoned and seemed to hit the spot. The people here are extremely nice. That alone goes a long way. The food is good. The brisket pho is vey good. Comes out piping hot and plentiful. Enjoyable dish besting that of other Vietnamese establishments in tenafly. The banh mi is good. This place was a little hard to find especially while also trying to find street parking (when there are 5 cars behind you)! My go to dishes are usually pho or the grilled pork and spring roll vermicelli noodles. Needless to say, it was hot out so I opted for the vermicelli dish. The regular vermicelli dish only let me pick one meat so I opted for the combo platter which gave me three options - I ordered grilled pork, pork belly and spring rolls. I was honestly disappointed. The grilled pork is so SO thinly sliced (wasn't that flavorful either) and the pork belly was fried and extremely dry. Spring rolls were solid and I guess portion was generous, too. I'm so glad to have found this pho spot; it's definitely my favorite in the area. After trying various disappointing pho spots around north jersey/NYC, I almost gave up hope of finding a pho spot I'd return to time after time. (I'm coming from years of living in Philly where there are multiple mouth watering and authentic pho restaurants). I frequent this pho spot pretty much weekly, sometimes more - it's just that good. They always use fresh ingredients. Their beef/brisket pho is aromatic, rich, and packed with the perfect balance of flavors. They are generous with the fresh scallions and onions which really completes the flavor profile, IMO. The basil, bean sprouts, and jalapenos served on the side are always extremely fresh. The meat is good, there are some days where it's sliced thicker and some days it's more thinly sliced. I prefer when the beef is sliced very thin, but that's just personal preference. Their spicy lemongrass soup is so savory without being overly salty. They also generously garnish this dish with fresh scallions - mmm, yum. We usually also order a pork banh mi - it's consistently delicious. The baguette is always super fresh and soft, and they put extra pickled radish, sliced jalapenos, and fresh cilantro on the side to add in. The ambiance is relaxing and always clean. The spicy lemongrass soup was so flavorful with a good amount of spices. I wish they used the traditional noodles in bun bo hue instead of pho vermicelli noodles, but that's just personal preference. They give an okay amount of meat but it was a little lean. The servers are super attentive and constantly checking on us, refilling our tea/water and such. However, I know they have free parking in the garage. They have a lot of seating and I really like their booths. They feel pretty private. I ordered the beef pho anger my friends ordered the curry chicken stew. The food was fresh and delicious. I like their pho broth since it's flavorful but not too oily. The portion was large. If you want a lot of meat, be sure to get the beef combo pho. I like this place more than Phobu, the food is better and it's less expensive. The service was very fast and attentive. Our group needed a restaurant that could accommodate 16 of us, so we called in and we were able to reserve a table on a Saturday evening. The interior of the restaurant is very clean and welcoming. As for entrees, we got the pho dac biet and bun bo. I wish they used thicker noodles for bun bo, but they used thin rice noodles. Strong 3.5..... I was in the mood for some Pho so I looked and looked and looked. Some places opened late. Some places didn't have indoor dining. Then I come across Saigon Kitchen and the decision was made. The restaurant is nicely laid out. We got plenty of stuff to try. We started with spring rolls and summer rolls. The spring rolls ($8) were juicy and perfectly fried, creating a super crisp exterior. The summer rolls ($7) were ok, but the peanut sauce made up for it. You can dip just about anything in there. The pork belly banh mi ($9) was a bit of a let down. A little pricey for the small amount of meat that it has, and it was also lacking flavor. The wings ($8.50), while perfectly executed, also left something to be desired in the flavor department. However, they were crispy, sticky, and juicy and moist inside. The basa ($16) was a good dish. The fish was well cooked, tender yet meaty. The star of the meal to me was the pho ($13). That starts with a flavorful broth as the base, which they covered. We got the beef combo. I think there was brisket, eye round, meatballs, tendon, and tripe. Lots of great flavors and textures. I would certainly return. There are some other things I'd like to try.
