I don't review on yelp but Little Saigon is too good not to post something. Let me tell you, the Pho here is hands down the best in St. Louis. Their Broth is unbeatable, it is the perfect combination of flavor across the board. You can taste the spices in their broth better than any other place I have had in St. Louis, Chicago, or Michigan. I think they use the best quality ingredients too. It shows in their beef cuts compared to the other places I have been. On the next cold Sunday morning, after having your cup of coffee, head over to Little Saigon Cafe and order the Pho Tai, you will not be disappointed. And afterwards, you can thank me by venmoing me at @kevin-wilberding for giving you the best Sunday meal you could possibly have. read more

I lived in cwe close to the Main Street Euclid, so this Vietnamese place is where I go to cope with my pho-crave every week. It's a nice little shop, even though it's not my top choice pho place in town, but it's very convenient with its location and the service is great! read more

This place is a must try! My friend and I initially thought we were going to get sushi next-door but the place was closed. We decided to try out Little Saigon Café and we were so glad we did! Everything was great from the service to the food to the atmosphere we enjoyed everything. We will definitely be coming back. read more

Definitely isn't like the vietnamese i get in NYC.......but i was hungry and it did the trick.

I have worked across the street from this business for years, and every time i order from them they have been so polite! I love that they make everything so fast as well with takeout! They also take measures for Covid seriously as well! It's a good to know there are businesses out there who actually do care about the well being of their customers! Bravo you guys! read more

I ate here like last Month and I came the other day and my fave server isn't there anymore . So I won't be going here anymore either .

It was a snowy evening in St. Louis, as we descended upon Little Saigon for our weekly group dinner. My friends and I decided not to venture too far away from our workplace, the Washington University School of Medicine. Little Saigon wasn't our first choice, but on this night we decided to settle for what used to be quite passable Vietnamese cuisine (more on that later). On this night, Saigon was rather busy, as about 75% of the tables were occupied and multiple large groups had congregated for dinner. The scene at Little Saigon is quiet and pleasant . The hostess sat us immediately and our waiter was patient as we fumbled through the menu. I was surprised that recently Little Saigon had decreased the number of its offerings significantly. What used to be a multi-page menu filled with names of traditional Vietnamese dishes was replaced with a large page listing dishes like the "stir-fried vegetables with fried tofu" which I ordered. Vegetarians have very limited options at Little Saigon and I was disappointed that my favorite dish from the old menu- Ca Ri Ga- was totally removed from the new one. Also, I cannot verify this for certain, but I think they have increased the prices on this new menu. Nonetheless, because of my past positive experiences, I was optimistic about the flavor of the food. Unfortunately, this is when our night turned south. Our orders were promptly taken upon our arrival, but we didn't get our appetizers or main course for about 25 minutes. There was another party of 12 in the restaurant that had been seated right before our arrival, so that may have contributed to the delay. When our food arrived, we were disappointed. My meal was really an embarrassment of an entree for vegetarians. There was a complete disregard for flavor, as I was literally served plain stir fry vegetables with 4 small pieces of tofu with a side of brown rice. Many restaurants have token meat-free entrees and I appreciate when they try to do something creative Luckily for me, they had Sriracha available and I promptly doused my vegetables with the condiment, as to make its consumption more pleasant. My omnivore friends had mixed reviews of their dishes. Four of them ordered soups and the major feeling was that the food was rather bland- lacking the typical flavorful profile of more traditional Vietnamese soups. Honestly, if you are in the Central West End, there are much better options. I wouldn't recommend spending the money at Little Saigon. If you are in the mood for Vietnamese try Pho Grand. It is cheaper and more flavorful. read more

Thank you for a wonderful, hot dinner to go last night! Your ginger chicken is delicious!!

I have no idea how this place got four stars, but the Pho was bland and tasteless. I put a ton of hot sauce in it and it was still tasteless. I will never go back there. I got a salad with steak and it was nasty. I'm upset that I wasted my money there. read more

It is an ABOMINATION that this place has an overall rating under 5 stars. The food here is AMAZING - I moved from the CWE to Boston two years ago and I lament my lack of access to Little Saigon every time I try to get Asian food. Which is like, every week. The crispy spring rolls here are to DIE for. My hair lady in St. Louis is Vietnamese and explained to me that Little Saigon is one of the ONLY Vietnamese restaurants that does them the right way - using the thinner rice paper even though it's harder to keep the roll together as it fries. Chewy, lighter, FABULOUS. I have to say that on our recent trip back to St. Louis, I felt like the rolls had changed slightly - they were a little bigger and the paper seemed slightly thicker. TRAGIC. But they're still the best I've EVER had. The soft spring rolls are also super yummy. But what you really have to get is: (1) The papaya salad with beef (crunchy, spicy, wet, cold, refreshing, perfect); (2) The ginger clay pot - use all the sauce right on the meat and rice; and (3) the Bun Cha - I'd always ask for a knife and fork and make it into one big refreshing salad of spring noodles, bits of crispy spring roll, fresh herbs, and amazing sauce. Seriously. There's never a wait, there's outdoor seating, the area is gorgeous, the prices are reasonable, and the food is healthy and SO flavorful and tasty. I miss this place ALL THE TIME. It may be my overall favorite restaurant, as in, in the world. read more

I am in agreement with everyone, this place is fantastic. Yes, its a little more pricey that other Vietnamese joints in STL but you pay for what you get. Went last night a friend and I split the veggie spring rolls. The sauce that came with them so good-i would eat toenails if they were dipped in that stuff. We also split our entree, the Cai Xao Dau Hu (stir-fried veggies w/ fried tofu). We got it with brown rice, but I think next time I will go with the Jasmine. The veggies were amazing, so fresh and colorful and CRUNCHY! I hate over cooked veggies. This plenty of food for two people! I also had a mango martini, which was freakin delish! A little sweet, but tasty indeed. Service was great too. I forgot how much I loved this place....I will be back! read more

I've been going to Little Saigon Cafe for over seven years now. I love it because it's good food, but also because I get personalized service. The owner knows me and so does her son, who works as a waiter there. He knows little things like how I prefer nuoc cham (fish sauce, chiles, garlic, sugar and lime juice) with my Goi Cuon (soft spring rolls with shrimp and vegetables) instead of the soy peanut sauce it comes with. Though that sauce is yummy, I prefer the sweet and sour contrast of the former. He knows I always order the Canh Hoanh Thanh Mi (shrimp wonton soup with egg noodles), and rolled his eyes for years when I refused to try anything new. This is not to say I don't know the menu. I've tried nearly everything. I just love that soup! It's huge, too, so I don't often have room for other stuff. When I do stray, though, I get the Ca Kho To, braised catfish in a hot pot. I get it with brown rice. I took a cooking class with the owner and chef, Joan Ho, and watched her make this dish. It's sooooo healthy, as is all the food on her menu. Honest. Nary a drop of oil. And this dish is so sparing on ingredients it's amazing how you get so much flavor coming through. The catfish is meaty, tender and sweet from the caramelized fish sauce and tiny bit of oil (and just a dab of sugar) Ho uses to make the sauce. I don't normally like catfish, but here it's a standout. The star of the evening is the Bun Cha Thit Nuong, spring rolls which I get vegetarian, served over vermicelli and peanuts. You get a bowl of nuoc cham to pour over the top. I get the grilled shrimp skewers. OMG! Finally, the dish I make all my friends order so I can eat half, is the Com Chien Trai Thom, pineapple fried rice with shrimp and chicken. Again, when Ho makes this dish she uses about a teaspoon of oil, which is amazing. The flavor is wonderfully nutty and fragrant from the jasmine rice, and there are julienned shards of snow peas and carrots, along with green and white onions and scrambled eggs. The prices are more steep than most Vietnamese restaurants, which often leave you hungry after. This place is filling and figure friendly. Not to mention guest friendly. It's my all-time favorite Vietnames spot in St. Louis. read more

Service, food and location ... all just right. I heard of this place because it is a favorite of someones then the Living Social came up so I thought that's as good as any reason to try it. While I did not eat inside I did walk in to get seated outside and liked the decor that I saw. I was greeted right away and it was clear there is a focus on customer service. I ordered the Cha Saigon (crispy spring rolls, very good), Banh Xeo (rice crepe with shrimp, chicken and bean sprouts, excellent), Com Chien Trai Thom (pineapple fried rice, very good), and the flan. While the flan was not the best I have had, it was still high quality like the other 3 dishes. The service was not to soft, not to hard, they did everything right which is the kind of service you always hope you can get effortlessly and is where they shine more than the food. I will go back. read more

Don't get me wrong...the food was ok and central west end is a great location, but it really bothers me to have American-style Asian food. The pho was not good. It wasn't really bad, but super inferior to actual Vietnamese restaurants. The banh xiao appetizer (the rice crepe) was good and I worth trying I guess. I had a salmon dish that was really tasty but still super Americanized. This is not a good place to go if you like the usual hodge podge of shared dishes and oriental restaurants...they make their dishes here for the individual. And they are WAYYYY overpriced. Especially for how tiny they are. I think olive blvd or grand ave may have some better options than this place. read more

Get: Bo luc lac: super tender sizzling cubes of beef. Very consistently good. Skip: Pho: not as good as most other pho places in St. Louis Ambiance: Darker, quiet. Good for dates. I had the beef cube and found it to be very delicious. This is one of the harder dishes to cook and not all vietnamese restaurants can cook it so tenderly. I can eat two bowls of rice with this dish. The price is reasonable as well read more

Stopped in for lunch on Tuesday with a friend, his suggestion. For lunch rush in the CWE we found a parking space no worries. Zero wait when we walked in the door. Steady business. Friendly and attentive wait staff. We split an order of soft veggie spring rolls; he had a beef salad of some sort and I chicken. The spring rolls were fresh and crunchy and served with a thick peanut sauce. Tasty. Spring rolls make me happy. The salads, as it turned out, weren't really intended to be lunch portions, more like starters, but they were still delicious with bold flavors and great contrast. I loved my dish. If you're in the mood for a quick, flavorful, friendly lunch, you'll enjoy Little Saigon. read more

This place introduced my wife to young coconut juice outside of Taiwan. We have since found the stuff (you need to get the frozen stuff... Seafood City has it...) we have had little reason to come back here. I mean c'mon. It's expensive and the food is just ok. I don't remember how much they charge for the pork chop with sunny side up egg thing but my mouth dropped at the sight of it. There are plenty of other places with far better price points and, in my opinion, far better food. The wife made the mistake of getting some Living Socials to this place because she totally forgot about this place (the young coconut thing was from like 2007...) so we came here twice just to be disappointed. Now I'm not saying that the food is bad. The service is pretty good too. I'm just saying if you don't mind driving to S. Grand or to Olive you might as well head in that direction. This place serves as a good option if you live in the CWE, but I definitely wouldn't drive over here just for this place. read more

So my bf lives in the CWE and I wanted Pho so we stopped in. HUGE MISTAKE. Pho is all about the broth and this broth was TASTELESS! They like to tout how their food is healthy which must also mean bland. I won't ever go back especially since I know of Truc Lam (see my rave about this hole in the wall) for pho. Save your time, your money and your taste buds. read more

My parents live right around the corner from here, so when I came into town a few months ago they had to take me here! They go here at least once a week and are constantly raving about it. Thu is always their server, as well as the night I was there. Fantastic service, and I think David is the bartender... he has their drinks ready as soon as he sees them come in the door! The lemondrop martinis are to DIE for, and they will certainly do the trick to get you to loosen up. All of the dishes were amazing - of course I had to steal some of my parents :) I wish I lived closer! Fast forward a few months; I wanted to get my dad a present for his birthday. What do you get the man who has everything? A surprise dinner at his favorite restaurant!! Living so far away, I e-mailed John to see if he could help me out and let me pay for my parent's next meal, and it all worked out and I was able to treat my parents to a dinner out from afar!!! Where the heck would you ever get that service??! read more

Worst pho ever! The broth was not hot at all, so the raw meat was bloody the whole time I ate it. The noodles were all cut off because they were overcooked. Even the price was much higher than other places. read more

Hmmm,,,, I guess I ordered wrong things since this place is highly rated by Yelpers. I had Goi cuon and it was very salad-ish and healthy, but very flavorless. Then I had Shrimp Wonton Noodle. The soup had absolutely no flavor. They forgot to put any salt?? The take out menu said "Light and Healthy Vietnamese Cuisine" and yes, the food is very light and healthy, but too flavorless for me (and my friends). I'd actually go again and order something else to see how other things are.... read more

We came here because it was 5 minutes from the Science Center, and we wanted to go back to the park after lunch. Big mistake. The spring rolls were good, but the noodle soup (they didn't call it pho, now I know why) were bland and tasteless. The soup tasted like water. To make it worse, they gave us a few little pieces of basil and cilantro, so we couldn't at least add more seasoning to the tasteless soup. They also gave us a few pieces (probably 10) bean sprouts, and they were brown so we didn't even use them. The only saving grace was the wait staff, who was very attentive and came by several times to make sure we have everything we need. Unfortunately, he couldn't help us make the soup taste better. Very disappointing. Not sure how this place gets 4 stars. read more

I enjoyed my visit to Little Saigon. The decor is nice, the service is great and the food is decent. I have to agree with Alexis H. in that the food may be a little under flavored. It may just depend on what you order. read more

Who eats here? Why is it always so busy? I've never eaten in but have gotten take-out and was never impressed. Actually, I wasn't even satisfied. Pho is ordinarily such a rich and flavorful food but at Little Saigon cafe the pho tastes so dull, as if it were a microwave or frozen version from your local grocery store. read more

Little Saigon is located in the heart of Central West End. It has super cute patio dining, and friendly fast service. Their menu has a majority of what most Vietnamese restaurants offer as I always get the usual from anyplace else. It's not authentic as it caters to a different crowd, but it will satisfy your craving for the time being. My experience was not bad, but I was disappointed about the price to food portion ratio. But hey, I understand... their rent is probably through the roof! read more

Nice, modern Vietnamese restaurant located in the Central West End. I'll admit I was hesitant about our dining experience due to the 'upscale' location and since there were no Vietnamese diners in the restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were not expecting hole-in-the-wall, authentic Vietnamese food, we just needed a Vietnamese restaurant within close proximity to the Chafeitz arena (approx. 9 mins away). Little Saigon Café satisfied our craving for Vietnamese food. The only thing they did not have was bành mi (Vietnamese sandwiches). We ordered the cha Saigòn (fried spring rolls), goi nuong (fresh spring rolls), cà ri gà (curry chicken), and ph (Vietnamese noodle soup). The pho was beautifully infused with star anise which I LOVE and is how I make my pho. The yellow curry chicken was delicious and reminded me of my mother's Vietnamese cooking! Stop by for happy hour drink specials Monday-Saturday from 11am-6pm! read more

I cannot figure out why this place is not packed every night! But I guess better for us :) The food is excellent, Ca Ri Ga & Goi Du Du (which Dave (server/bartender) introduced us to) are my top 2 dishes but the Pho is also amazing. The service is always on point! There an amazing server who works there, I think her name is Thu, that always remembers us and that my husband loves their hot sauce. She brings it out without asking. That IS service at its best, makes you feel at home! read more

Food is pretty good, but nothing mind-blowing. The eggrolls are good. WAY overpriced; $17 for a CHICKEN vermicelli bowl? And now I am giving them no more than three because they just forgot to add chicken to TWO orders of chicken vermicelli. They refunded, but still....how do you just forget to add meat to BOTH orders? read more

I ordered Pho and Bun Thit Nuong. I was disappointed. They use cheap soup package for the Pho broth. The broth was just weird, bland and "miles-off-target". If you decide to take shortcut, make sure it is a very good shortcut. However, in this case, the shortcut was a road to hell. The flavoring package that they use for the broth was not authentic. The broth was missing ginger, cinnamon, fennel and onion. The anise and clove flavor were too overwhelming. The ratio for those spices was completely off. Even the fish sauce was cheap. It was salty water with color and flavor. The rice noodle was also terrible. They used the cheap kind that was just dry and broke off into tiny pieces. The Bun Thit Nuong was a disaster also. There is nothing that I hate more than taking shortcuts in cooking, let alone a bad one. Having been cooking Vietnamese cuisines for many years, I highly recommend people NOT to order Pho and Bun Thit Nuong. The reason I give a star is because of the service. I was served by a very polite and very attentive waitress. Initially I did not want to leave any tip but I gave her a Two dollar bill for good luck. read more

Really enjoyed dinner here - it would be a great place for date night. The bf and I had the mango martini, which was really delicious. It was a little more expensive than I expected looking at the menu prices posted on Yelp (which are incorrect...). Oh well, it was delicious. The chicken satay was great. I had the shrimp wonton soup, which had a great flavor. I also had the curry entree with chicken added in, which got a little pricey, and wasn't quite the curry flavor I was used to. It wasn't spicy enough for my taste. read more

Love the food here. Great flavors, good service, super CWE environment. Try 5he green papaya salad...too good!

Went here on a whim with a girlfriend for lunch and was pretty impressed. Love the outdoor seating (but it is in the CWE, so that kind of thing is fairly expected at this point), and even sitting outside we got really good service. Was not overly busy around noon, many of the tables inside were empty... and there was no wait to sit outside. Because of this combined with the time we went I was a BIT worried I should have checked out the Yelp reviews before we went. Ordered the green papaya salad with beef. I had to convince a friend it was a typically good thing to order at Vietnamese places, and she was completely won over when it came out. Very good, not the best I have ever eaten, but I would definitely go back for more. I forget what we both ordered for our main dishes, and even looking on the online menu didn't flash my memory, BUT even though the name will forever escape me, the dish will not. It was a chicken and vegetable dish which I got with the brown rice, very light (the Light and Healthy theme is correct), and was wonderfully cooked and served with a side dish of a sweet and spicy sauce for dipping. And perfectly cooked vegetables. Also I am going to really compliment the rice. I love when rice is cooked to be good and sticky. I guess they are using a sticky brown rice or a sweet brown rice, but I really enjoyed it. One complaint, the server played the creepy card pretty well. I don't tend to give a lot of thought to if the wait staff at restaurants are sizing me or my friends up, but this guy gave off a very unambiguous vibe. It was more than a little uncomfortable. And one quick FYI for anyone not familiar with the CWE, be prepared to hunt for parking. My girlfriend and I meet for lunch at various restaurants around here every week or so, I know night time parking can be tough, but lunch is just as bad, so give yourself an extra minute or ten to find a spot if you dont want to park in a garage (or take the metro, its super close). Great place to stop in for lunch and hopefully I can get the chance to go back soon! read more

Nice little Vietnamese restaurant in CWE. The atmosphere is nice, with outdoor seating and big sliding windows on the front that open up. We started with the Cha Saigon spring rolls (2 for $5) which were tasty. For an entree, I had the Com Chiên Trái Thom, which is pineapple fried rice with shrimp and chicken. It was good, but didn't have a ton of flavor overall ($13). There was a ton of it though. The Bò Lúc Lac (Sautéed Tender Steak Cubes with Onion and Black Pepper served With Rice or Vermicelli Noodle) looks really good as well. I'd probably opt for that next time.
