Little Saigon is located in the Central West End near Barnes-Jewish Hospital. This restaurant serves outstanding Vietnamese food. The restaurant is fairly small, but normally doesn't have a wait to be seated. When the weather is nice they offer outside dinning and they allow pets in this area. I have eaten here many times and I highly recommend the steak cubes and the pineapple chicken. It is normally a difficult decision figuring it which one I will order. The fried spring rolls appetizer is also very good. The owner is hands on and can often be found helping out among the staff. The wait staff are all very nice and do an exceptional job. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Central West End. read more

Mike and his team do an amazing job! The food was incredible, and we loved being able to sit out on the patio for the fresh air and social distancing. The Pho & Steak Salad we're probably our two favorites, but the eggrolls were also incredible! We had our two little ones with us as well, so this was also kid friendly and easy for them. Highly recommend! read more

This place was not great. I got the rare beef pho and I feel like they Americanized it or something. I didn't taste or smell any cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, anise, nothing. The broth just wasn't great. The sad basil and cilantro they gave me didn't fix anything. Probably because the basil leaves were like 1mm long and the cilantro had brown spots all over it. They gave me one lime wedge that was also brown. Added all these things into the broth hoping it would make it better but no. There was also something weird about the noodles. It just makes me think they bought some beef stock and noodles from the grocery store and whipped something up. They also gave me a side of what I thought was hoison and sriracha mixed together but it was way too spicy for my tastes. I wish they would've just given me the packets to mix myself because the actual beef was pretty decent so I would've enjoyed dipping it in that at least. Also got the shrimp spring rolls. Those were good and the peanut sauce they had was better than most places. Tried the honeycomb pandan cake too. Not good. It tasted like they cooked it way too long and/or its like 3 days old. Very hard. OH and no utensils. Thankfully I had chopsticks at home but some people don't so that's a shame. Yeah, I'm not coming back. Two stars bc the spring rolls and it was edible. read more

The Pho ga is great and the service was awesome. Very clean and Covid conscious. Would highly recommend stopping here!

Ordered for takeout and Saigon Cafe did not disappoint! The spring rolls were fresh and delicious and we really enjoyed the dipping sauce. Both entrees were a very generous portion and the proteins (chicken and grilled pork) were cooked perfectly. Will definitely be checking them out for in person service as well! read more

Unbelievable. Lemongrass porkchop with shrimp. A steak dish that was super favorable and tender. Can't wait to get back to St Louis.

Because it's all about the Bun, 'bout the Bun, no trouble! I enjoyed a lovely late lunch at Little Saigon consisting of Bun Thit Nuong (grilled pork and crispy spring rolls). Yum! Lunch prices are a bit on the high side at $13-16, but it's a lovely little restaurant with good service. On my second visit, ordering the exact same thing, was just as good! read more

Below is my original review. Not much has changed. Still great food, great flavors and great service. ********** This is a small gem that is located in the trendy CWE/Central West End. The staff is very professional, friendly and accommodating. While the restaurant is fairly small, the food packs a big flavor. Cocktails and wine is a bit pricey, but the entrees are on point. I highly recommend the vegetable spring rolls with peanut sauce and the shaking beef. The beef is amazing. I simply can't put in words just how tender it is... almost like butter. read more

If you have had good pho before, this place will be a disappointment. And very overpriced for what it is. Made a mistake coming here, but I do understand with the location, they had to "tame" with herbs. You live and learn. read more

What a nice time we had at LSC! It was a warmer-than-usual Friday evening when we arrived for a 6 PM reservation, window table. From greeting at door to the final goodbye, service was attentive and flawless. There were five of us, a variety of items ordered. All the dishes were beautifully presented. My chicken curry was delicious, a little bit of spicy heat, enjoyed with a glass of chardonnay. Thanks LSC for a fine first meal. read more

I don't know where to begin! This is my go-to Viet spot. Everything here is so darn good. B1 bun bo xao cha gio is unlike anyother vermicelli i've ever had and easily my favorite. E1 Bo luc lac is also super flavorful & tendor. Spring rolls are very good & papaya salad is also very good. just get everything LOL. For a pre-theater dinner, we chose Little Saigon. Confusing as there is Saigon and Little Saigon, evidently interchangeable, but confusing. The table was marked reserved for our 5:30 reservation, and we remarked that the restaurant looked like a pretty standard noodle shop. Service was great, and we ordered cocktails, a Tsing-tao beer and a special barley/Suntory concocktion. Served in a small glass with a huge ice cube and loys of club soda, we felt the $14.00 price tag was high for what you got. To conclude, therewere four of us, two meals good, two disappointing. The pineapple fried rice was totally tasteless until hot sauce (not my preference) was added. The clear noodle soup with "seafood" was not even close to the photo on the website, lots of krab, one scallop, two shrimp, two fish balls, one tough little piece of 'calamari', no fried onions, and a good broth. For $100.00+ for two of us, we will go elsewhere. The spring tolls were $11.00 for two ! read more

Nice quiet place to sit and enjoy some great PHO. Wait staff was kind, prompt and tentative. Great place to eat.

I have gotten take out from here several times, and went to the restaurant to eat for the first time last night. I can't comment on the authenticity, but on the whole I've been happy with my food. I absolutely love the shrimp soft spring rolls and get them every time I go. I've gotten grilled chicken skewers/chicken satay a few times and generally feel it is dried out. The steak cubes are decent but lacking any sort of stand-out flavor, and I got a seafood and pineapple sweet and sour soup that was decent before. Their real forte is the speed of service for take out. It usually takes about 15 min for an order of 1-3 people! Can't be beat when you are hungry. Also the atmosphere is neat and on nicer days you can sit outside or inside but they have big windows that open to the outside. Convenience, speed, and reliability are what keep me coming back. read more

Little Saigon is a favorite restaurant of mine that I don't patronize often enough because I forget about it. The service is wonderful and the food is fantastic. I believe the menu is on the healthier side of the spectrum, so that's a bonus. I've had a few different items and have yet to be disappointed. My husband's usual order is a vermicelli dish with shrimp skewers and spring rolls; I like that dish and also enjoy the Ca Ri Ga, a yellow curry with chicken, potatoes and carrots. It has a deeper spiciness to it rather than chili spice. The chicken sate is tasty too. The best thing about the food here is that it's cooked well -- neither overcooked or undercooked. P.S. Even my 4-year-old likes eating here, and that's saying a lot! read more

Saigon Cafe - Ordered the Ca Ri Ga and could eat only half. The chicken was cooked PERFECTLY. - Vietnamese Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

Last Saturday I stopped by Little Saigon Cafe for the second time, and have to admit that the food wasn't as good as I recall in the past. On this visit I decided I wanted something light so I ordered the Com Chiên, which is essentially Vietnamese chicken fried rice. The rice was a little bland with no real flavor, also there was hardly any chicken in my entrée. I was able to try some of the Bún Thit Nuong, (Grilled pork served with vermicelli noodles), and I admit that it would had been the better choice. I think on my next visit I will probably order the Bún Thit Nuong or Bò Lúc Lac and avoid the flavorless Com Chiên. Overall the service was good, with a friendly staff. Also the location is great, while the atmosphere inside is nice, and pretty casual the outside seating here is a better choice. The inside seems a little bit stuffy, despite the large windows letting in a fair amount of natural light. read more

I've eaten Pho in about 25 different states and it all comes down to 1 thing - the broth. This broth was well above average and quite tasty. Also had the chicken wing app - also very good. Crispy, cooked correctly, etc. As a personal preference I'd make them spicier, but that's not a criticism. I'd eat here again with no hesitation. read more

We visited Little Saigon Cafe before a movie at the Chase Park. I love Vietnamese food and had this place bookmarked. It's very unassuming from the outside. Inside is a bit modern and quaint. We ate at 6ish on a Friday and there were only a few other tables. They have a happy hour on beer and martinis... but I don't think we were there early enough. They have a handful of imported Vietnamese, Indian, & Japanese beers. I tried a few and liked them all. For appetizers, we split the seafood clear noodle soup. It really had no substance, flavor, and not much seafood. The pepper sauce that was served on the side gave it some punch, but it still was missing something. For entrees, I had the tofu and ground pork with black bean sauce over rice. It was good. The tofu was perfect... little pillows of goodness. My girlfriend had the Bò Lúc Lac. Beef, onions & rice. Hers was good too. But neither dish were as good as you could get at Pho Grand, Bahn Mi So, or Mai Lee... and the prices here are a bit steep. The entrees are about $15...about double what you would pay and most Vietnamese restaurants. For the price, you simply can get better preparations of these dishes at a lower price elsewhere. read more

Saigon Cafe - Bun Ga Nuong Cha Gio with meat spring roll - Vietnamese Near Me - Saint Louis, Missouri

We tried this restaurant solely because their website's menu showed that they offered the stir-fried crispy noodle dishes my mom has been craving ever since Kim Son closed and we haven't been able to find, but when we arrived and asked why they weren't on the house menu, the server said they don't offer them any longer! Very disappointing, since we came all the way from Creve Coeur to the Central West End expressly for this dish. I am an expert on and strong aficionada of beef pho, having had it almost weekly for over 17 years in authentic Vietnamese restaurants all over the San Francisco Bay Area and many places elsewhere (Los Angeles, CA; Seattle; Livermore, CA; and St. Louis). They had very few varieties (which is strange, to me, for a Vietnamese restaurant). I ordered the beef pho (which they didn't call pho, but "beef noodle soup"). Not a great experience, but not the worst I've ever had, either. The broth was overly sweet (some are), a version of this recipe I do not particularly like. It was oddly thin (watered down?) and not very tasty or robust, overall. I tasted it first alone, then added the chili garlic sauce, which I had to ask for because there was no caddy on the table! There have been table caddies at almost every Vietnamese restaurant I've eaten at prior to this. The caddy usually has soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili garlic sauce, sriracha sauce, salt, pepper, chopsticks, soup spoons, napkins). Even worse, it was short-changed, inside. There were hardly any meat pieces/slices in it, even though the serving bowl was quite large. Lots of scallions, but no onion slices. Good amount of rice noodles, but the balance of ingredients was totally off, overall. The "vegetable" plate that accompanied this large serving of soup, though, was the smallest I have ever been brought. There were hardly any basil clips or bean sprouts or jalapenos, only 1 slice of lime, and a lot of cilantro, comparatively: very skimpy. My mom ordered the batter-fried calamari, which she said was quite good and NOT deep fried, which she liked better. The sauce had ginger and lemon, which she doesn't like and didn't use. I tried it; the ginger was too strong. The front house manager sent us a free order of cold spring rolls when he heard from our server that we were so disappointed at the discrepancy between the website's and house's menu offerings. That was unexpected and nice. The spring rolls were okay, but bland. Peanut sauce was very good. The front house manager (who's been working there for a long time) came to our table several times (they weren't busy, yet; only 11:00, which is when they open) to find out how we liked the food and to apologize for the mix-up. We got to ask him questions. Apparently, the owners are about to revamp the menu. After that, he said, they will revamp/fix the website's menu. They may "soon" offer specials that could include the noodle dish we came for. He said to check back. I suggested they provide an email opt-in to be able to be alerted to specials and coupons, and he said he'd ask about doing that. So, very friendly and accommodating staff, but not a great place, food-wise (yet) for us. Will "check back" in a few months. read more

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night and was surprised to find that there were a good number of people there. And after eating here, it made sense! We both got the bo luc lac, which is a Vietnamese dish featuring sauteed steak cubes served with either rice (brown or Jasmine) or vermicelli noodles. I found the dish delicious.. the beef was tender and well-seasoned. I couldn't stop eating it! Of course I got a cup of Vietnamese coffee which, as always, did not disappoint. Word of caution: the prices are a bit more steep in comparison to the other Vietnamese restaurants in STL. The bo luc lac was about $14, and while sizable, is a bit pricey for a Vietnamese restaurant. The prices and the flavoring make me think of this place as the Pei Wei of Vietnamese food.. a bit more Americanized and mainstream. If you want a more authentic Vietnamese culinary experience, I wouldn't suggest Little Saigon. But if you're just looking for somewhere to go with delicious food (that's been influenced by Vietnamese cuisine), I would definitely go here. read more

After a visit here for lunch this week, I realized I had never reviewed this place. The pho is as good as anywhere in the city. If you like pho with the works, like the tendon, their's is particularly good. But I also want to sing the praises of their grilled pork Bun with egg rolls. It's a large portion of noodles and greens on a beautifully arranged plate. The egg rolls were delicious with a shell that was like a savory pastry. But the best part was the grilled pork. A large portion, perfectly seasoned and exceptionally tender (to a surprising degree). read more

Most. Boring. Vietnamese. Food. Ever. The entrees totally whitified. If that isn't a verb, it should be. Well ok, my wife thought her pho was the worst she's had in the USA. Not that it tasted bad, it just didn't have any taste. And my pork chop? Yeah, I didn't know they could make something so dull. Two saving graces of the meal: 1. The fried spring rolls were pretty awesome, and thankfully did have taste. Perhaps we should have just gotten another serving or two and had that as our dinner. 2. Good beer options. Very good service too. Overall Little Saigon Cafe isn't that good. I no longer live in St. Louis, but I KNOW you can find better Vietnamese in the city. Yeah, I know, this is the Central West End, so what should I expect? I guess I was hoping for at least average Vietnamese for more $ than your average Vietnamese resturant. Instead it was subpar food for more $. Oh well... read more

Been coming here for years. A standby for recruitment lunches because there's a wide range of food preferences that can be accommodated, and the quality of food is impressive! Also a standby for group lunch events! Food is always delicious, the Vietnamese coffee is so strong and good, and the staff and owner are engaging and all around awesome! I get take out a lot, and their packaging is well thought out to keep everything fresh and ready to assemble. My favorites include the beef stew (Bo Kho), the caramel sauce salmon (Ca Kho To, E2), the Shaking Beef (Bo Luc Lac, E1), the salmon fresh spring roll, the Pho Deluxe, the bun with the grilled pork, the fried calamari, the pandan honeycomb cake (limited), the Vietnamese coffee tiramisu (limited), the coffee as mentioned above, and last but not least, the winter seasonal weekend special Bun Rieu, a rich seafood noodle soup that is eye-rollingly good and sells out so fast!! Basically everything on the menu is so solid. The price point is a little higher than some places, but the quality makes it worth it! They keep looking for ways to innovate and are very responsive to customers. Love this place! read more

Food is ok everything else is great! I've gone renew four times hoping to like something but I only liked what I ate once.

We love the food but won't be going back. The tables for two are too small. The staff seems over trained to flip tables quickly so much so that they grabbed our plates before we were finished. We still had forms in hand. This isn't the first time. We previously reported being rushed. If you tell them you want your appetizer first all of the food comes out together. read more

Décor: It's a large restaurant and though we went on a Sunday night, there were only 2 other tables being served at the time, so not very busy.... Nonetheless, the restaurant is a cross between a "friendly get together" and a "Family spot". It's got some trendy/classy feel to it, but I could see my family eating there together. Service: Fine and attentive, thanks! Food: - Spring rolls: Yes, it is nice and soft but not a particularly big serving. But, I love that they did their peanut sauce right. It's presented nicely too, fyi - I got the papaya salad with beef in it. It was really good! Light, refreshing and healthy. I wasn't very hungry, but I was able to eat half of it and was quite satisfied. I finished it later and also felt very satisfied, so I really enjoyed this dish! Overall: This place is like a classier Vietnamese place, so it's perfect if you're in the mood for it, but if you're looking for some cheap mom and pop place, this isn't it. read more

Came here on a Friday night around 7:30pm with a couple of friends. We were immediately seated. At first i wasn't going to order anything because I'm not a fan of Vietnamese food, something about the flavor. Anyway, my BF and I split the Chicken Satay in Peanut Sauce and Pineapple Fried Rice, friends ordered Beef Pho and Vermicelli Rice Noodle Bowl with Fried Egg Roll. Service was outstanding. Out waters were always full, and the waitress made sure we were happy. Food. The Chicken Satay was really good, a little too hot for my tastebuds (no spice tolerance) and the Pineapple Fried Rice was absolutely delicious. So fresh tasting and filled with flavor. Friends enjoyed their food and really liked the Fried Egg Roll. Despite not being a Vietnamese food fan, I would go back here again. Next time I will have their coffee too! read more
