Visited a couple of times. Love the decor which is much nicer than most Vietnamese restaurants. Great variety of food options. Decent price. Food tasted good. They have bun mam which is hard to find. Will be back. read more

4 stars for flavor, 3 stars for service. My food came out very quickly but my other guests waited at least 12 minutes to get their appetizer. All food should have came out together, instead we ate while the other hungry guests at our table just watched. My dish was delicious, and soo tasty, but that service really was unsatisfactory read more

My first Vietnamese food in Dallas, TX. My friend took me there for lunch. The restaurant was very nice looking with high ceilings and a spacious dining room. This was definitely designed for big families. We ordered the baked cat fish, beef three ways, steamed meatballs and their ham with lemon grass and escargot. The cha oc (lemongrass ham) came out first. The aroma was great but the ham itself was a bit light, their ginger fish sauce was a great accommodation to that however. The three way beef came next. They were huge but I wish the bo la lot had more leaf, I've tasted all meat and not the leaf flavor itself. I actually enjoyed the grilled beef with onion the most. The steamed meat ball was also good, tasting similar to the three way beef but steamed I guess. The portion was huge by the way so make sure you bring people when you go here. The cat fish came out last and I had been waiting for it for a long time. I have to say I was bit disappointed. The fish wasn't crispy enough and the flesh didn't taste that fresh. It lacked the sweetness that fresh fish tasted right out of the water. Overall though, it was a solid experience and I had a good time there. The service was fast and polite and the atmosphere was very chill. I will definitely come back and try different item, recommended. read more

I'm a Vietnamese. I think I should support to all Vietnamese restaurants. But I can not do that on sai Gòn Block. I had been there before since 2010. I know they was busy and had a great foods, and over there they have a special food is Cả Nướng. it's the key made them more special in Dalas,Tx. And I had came back again on my vacation couple months ago. The day I been there is bad weather, no busy at all. I can say foods just ok. But the thing I wanna say the service. OMG IT REALLY BAD. I know that day have bad weathe, they can close early and say no when we get in When I asked them ARE U STILL OPEN. They was said YES. we had 2 waiters service, the old guy allmost ball head and young guy with northern of Viet Nam sounding (I think he is international student from Việt Nam). They are so RUDE. I can tell u never go there if u don't wanna get bad mood when u pay ur money on their business. read more

I've been here with a group of 4 a couple of times now and there's hardly ever a wait to be seated. The menu lists several sizes for the baked catfish but both times the only option available was the large. I would recommend ordering the catfish as soon as you are seated as it can take a bit of time. However, the wait is completely worth it! The DIY catfish spring rolls are to die for and it was plenty for four people. We also ordered a bowl of pho to share between the four of us and the broth is probably one of the best I've had in the DFW area. I would definitely recommend coming here with a group of friends. You will not be disappointed! read more

Went to check out this restaurant a couple weeks ago because I saw that they had Nem Nuong Cuon. It was during a Sunday that we decided to drop by and try out their food, and it was PACKED. Luckily we were able to be seated fairly promptly, and the server who helped us was quick to take our order. Unfortunately, they did NOT have what I came to the restaurant for. They only offered 2 of their appetizers by the time we were there. We were never given an explanation for it, so it could have been out of stock or considering the crazy shipment schedules to consider nowadays. Either way, it can't be helped that the one star I'm knocking off is due to some disappointment mixed with food regret. However, with all that said, what we DID end up getting from their menu more than hit the mark and fully met and exceeded my expectations! I ordered one of their rice dishes with pork and egg cake. This dish immediately quelled my cravings, as the seasoning on the meat, freshness of the vegetables, and perfectly steamed broken rice were a perfect compliment to each other. But what totally stole the show was not my entree. In fact, what makes me crave going back already is their wings! Specifically the garlic butter flavor. Their wings are on par with Mike's (if you know, you know). Wings come out INSANELY hot and steaming, it's almost impossible to dig in to them the moment they arrive at your table. But after that initial heat, the wings embody the crispiness and juiciness you could only hope to have in all wings. The flavor was simple but satisfying, and they give you a dish of salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lime for dipping. Absolute perfection. I will definitely come back again for redemption on the Nem Nuong Cuon, but most importantly to eat those wings again. read more

Just great. Got the fish since it seems everyone else in the restaurant was eating the fish. Waa excellent. Better than my mommas and that has never been said before in the history of time. The fish was crispy and delicious, the veg plate was perfect, and the sauces were quite authentic. They even gave me a bowl of peppers since I wanted to kick it up a notch. Service was a tad slow and inattentive but the food made up for it. Only real complaint was those small wrappers and plates to wrap with. Man, I like to make huge rolls and these did not allow that to happen. read more

Had take out from here for the family. Food still equally as good pre-COVID times.

Great food! Would definitely recommend you try the BÚN GÀ NƯỚNG CHẢ GIÒ. It was delicious! We will definitely be back!

One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants to go for the baked fish. But the last couple times has been such a big disappointment. This isn't the first time I've picked up Togo orders and come home looking at vegetables that look like that in the photo. I have called and complain and all I get is them denying that it's them. Imagine them cooking this into your food. You wouldn't even know! read more

We love this place it's close to the house. The crispy catfish to eat as spring rolls our favorite item to order

We came here around 5pm on a Sunday so of course it was very quiet. Restaurant is very clean and sharp looking for a Vietnamese restaurant. There is quite a nice ambiance, with soft elevator music playing. Sure, there's TV's with the football game playing, but at least it's on mute. *Ca Nuong (baked fish): This is what we came here for as many previous reviews rave about this. It comes in medium ($42), large ($49) which we ordered, and x-large. I thought the pricing was great. Took about 20min to come out. This comes with rice paper, vermicelli noodles, and assorted veggie fixins like bean sprouts, lettuce, herbs. They also serve with " mm nêm" (fermented anchovy sauce) for dipping, and if you don't like the pungent aroma you can substitute with a sauce of your choice. For a family of four, this dish is a good size. Taste is on point, reminds me a lot of Vietnam, they didn't water down any of the taste. Fish skin is nice and crispy and the whole thing is doused beautifully in crushed peanut. You assemble your own rice paper wraps and fill with fish, vermicelli noodles, and herbs. It's absolutely delicious! I really can't complain about the authenticity of the fish dish, or the ambiance of this restaurant. However, the service is still unfortunately very typical of hole-in-the-wall Vietnamese-American restaurants. There were multiple servers around and very few guests at the time, yet they were rather slow and hard to flag down unless you really made a big visual scene from your table. They really don't check on you at all. It's such a letdown, because when I first walked in I was like "sweet, a nice Vietnamese restaurant" - but the service was just as blah as the next hole-in-the-wall. Thank goodness the food makes up for the service here! read more

The grilled fish ca nuong was tasy. We got the medium fish and it came out moist, crispy, and seasoned. Prefect for wrapping in rice paper. The only downside is the vegetables they give you. They make it look like its a lot because the amount of beansprouts gives height and volume to the plate. When you do run out, its an extra $3. But, we managed and the meal was fine. We also had chicken wings covered in garlic butter and one in fish sauce. The butter chicken was crispy and fatty while the fish sauce wing had a nice saltiness to it. But for $12 for seven wings. I don't know if I would order this next time. Service could be more attentive. There weren't many walking around and we had to call over the waiters to refill water. read more

Probably one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the Richardson area. We go there for just one dish: crispy baked catfish. Served with a healthy side of veggies and rice paper for a DIY spring rolls, be prepared to get your hands dirty. The whole catfish is served on a plate, sprinkled with peanuts and fresh scallions. The server debones the fish right in front of you, which is always a neat thing to see. The only gripe I have is that they charge a little bit extra for veggies but even that is fair and reasonable. Service wise, the waiters were attentive and filled up our drinks. We were generally seated in less than five minutes. Be prepared to wait for your food if you're ordering the baked catfish, we usually wait over 20 minutes. I can't really complain, since the fish is fresh and made to order. Facility is clean and modern, but the floors were slippery and greasy. Hopefully they can get that cleaned. Parking was free and easy to find. Delicious and healthy, will come back. Definitely recommend. Update: 8/7/2018 After eating at different restaurants, I have concluded that Saigon Block has one of the crunchiest, tastiest, and mouth watering Baked Fish (cá nng chin dn). Only gripe about it is that they don't give enough veggies to roll with the fish. read more

Don't get me wrong, I love pho, but I always knew Vietnamese food could be so much more. Finally, we found it. We came and got the 7 Beef meal. It's 7 kinds of beef for $18/person, which is an absolute steal. Beef soup, raw beef to cook in boiling vinegar, some spicy beef salad something, various kinds of beef sausage. All served with a mountainous plate of leafy greens and herbs, noodles, and rice paper to make your own wraps. I seriously can't recommend it enough. Tons of great flavors, tons of food, great price. We're the kind of people that order five dishes (for two people) at a Thai restaurant and usually finish them all. Last night, we brought home more than half of our beef sausage, because there was so much food. For $36. The whole fried fish was on a lot of tables, and looked amazing. That will definitely be our order next time. Which might be tonight. read more

Went here on my last official day in the dallas area, and had a good family dinner with my mom and her cousins. I didn't eat the hot pot, but the older adults did. My mom said it was tasty! We also ordered the banh hoi with nem nuong, bo la lot & chao tom which in English is steamed rice vermicelli with grilled pork, beef wrapped in lotus leaf and sugar cane shrimp. It was delicious! I got full off of this dish alone! Also, got a free order of egg rolls since I checked in via yelp! Gotta take advantage of those check in deals! One of the best Vietnamese food I've had. The fish is literally my favorite thing here to eat. We just didn't get one but we got two because it's pretty good. I only come here for Ca Nuong & Com Bo Luc Lac. Food: Saigon Block's Ca motherfckin Nuong is always the freshest, crispiest, and consistent in flavor. A small fish with additional side dishes like Bo Ba Mon can easily feed 3-4 people. Ca Nuong also comes with a plate of fresh greens and vermicelli for rolls. Service: Hit or miss. The workers who see me often are obviously very friendly and sweet! Environment: I can't remember the last time they remodeled this place. There's plenty of seats, however, there can be a 10-30 min wait on weekends and dinners. read more

If I had to choose where to get some good traditional baked catfish (Ca Nuong), this would be the place to go. When comparing it to Dong Que (because that's the only other place I've had it), it's 10x better. The staff here was super friendly and fast. The restaurant itself was beautiful and very clean. My wife and I ordered a small baked catfish for around $34 and we struggled to finish it. It comes with rice paper and plate of veggies so you can make a spring roll out of it. I love the dipping sauce it comes with. It's a pretty intense sauce so be prepared to have a flavor explosion in your mouth. The only downside is, they will charge you for an extra plate of veggies. But the plate of veggies they originally give you to share is huge anyways, so we didn't even have to order an extra one. The fish skin was so crispy and the meat was so juicy. The flavor was on point. Very well seasoned! You could eat the fish skin like it was a potato chip! The server even deboned the fish for us so we didn't have to deal with it! This place is 45 minutes from our house but it's definitely worth the drive. Whenever I'm craving this dish, I would not mind driving out here at all. They have other rice dishes that looks so good that I still need to try. read more

Food is very authentic. One of our favorite restaurants that taste like your parents kitchen!!

bad customer service. we came here and wait for put on name on the waiting list for 5-10 mins but the front guy who did see us standing right at door even didn't ask til the next group 5 people came and he just run to take their info first for the table. reason coz we are just party of two. this is holiday, i know it's busy but they just want to take the more customer than the less group. when i asked him then he replied me like a shout to my face"that table for 5". if he wasn't respect customer i also not respect him too. believe that never come back read more

Great food and fish. We got the ca nuong and bo 3 mong. It was super good and everything was fresh. My parents really enjoyed it. The fish was seasoned great and I love the touch of the fried shallots and peanuts on top. When our friend had called in an order of the baked catfish, I had no idea what I was in store for. He ordered a medium catfish for the four of us and it was the perfect amount for all of us to share! We even had a few pieces left over. We drove up from Dallas and we still waited for at least 10 - 15 minutes for the fish to be cooked. I've never had a baked catfish (vietnamese style) before, so this was such a treat! It came with rice paper, tons of veggies, and noodles. The fish comes out very fresh and the waiter debones the fish right in front of you! I only saw ONE bone throughout my entire meal. The skin was extra crispy and the insides were fluffy bits of heaven. I highly recommend this catfish dish the next time you come! read more

Great restaurant good fish and great location great pho and prices excellent will continue to stop by as often as possible

I've been here twice and both times we've had the bo 7 mon. It's so good that I didn't even want to check out their other options on the menu. It's $17/portion and you're actually required to buy 2 portions so come with at least 4 people because the 2nd time I came with just the hubby, we had a ton of left overs! Bo 7 mon is literally translated into 7 kinds of meat. You will get an assortment of 7 meat entrees including a soup to delight your stomach. Most of the meat entrees are meant to be wrapped up in a spring roll. I love the Vietnamese food here because it is as authentic as you can get. I may try the whole fried fish the next time I come as that seems to be a popular dish as well. As far as the service goes, my waiter was efficient and got me out of there in a decent time after we finished despite the restaurant being quite full on a Friday evening. To be honest, when I go to a Vietnamese restaurant, my sole expectations are that I get delicious food and I get it in a timely manner. Saigon Block surpassed both standards. read more

Known for their family style Baked (or maybe fried?) catfish. We normally call in if we want large or x-large fish. Good for reservations. They can pull tables to fit 20+ ppl. Call first though. They have good fish sauce that comes with the fried fish. Apps: good fried chicken and soft shell crabs. They are pretty accommodating today. We wanted to watch the football game, so they moved our table closer to the tv that was playing. They have one screen that is permanently showing Vietnam food documentary. Check in offer: free small appetizer. We've done this on two occasions now. Both times they forgot to take off our appetizer on our bill. We had already paid before noticing this. But we even tell them in the beginning and pull up the offer so the waiter can mark it used. So that's a bit annoying. We're just not going to use the free app anymore since we are okay without it. But now have paid for it twice. So make sure to check your bill first before paying it. We would have reminded the waiter about the free app, but My dad didn't know when he grabbed our check and paid for us. read more

I wish I could select negative five stars for this place! Have you guys ever found a caterpillar in your salad before? Yes, I have! And it was alive, wrapped around my chopstick, waving its tiny, spongy legs at me, showing me how fresh my salad was. Thank god my rice wrap broke and this disgusting thing fell on my plate. Just imaging having half of its body in the mouth, and seeing the other half twitching in the roll... I was still calm and asked my waiter what they would do about this caterpillar. The answer I got was "our Boss is not here, we will give you ten percent off"...Really? Guess its no big deal for your guys. I need to hit this place up whenever I can. Only problem is the people I hang out with don't necessarily love to eat vietnamese food, and the people that do... go when I cant. So frustrating.. ;( However, I go here for 2 things..1) their baked fish is the bomb when you make spring rolls with them. Reminds me of hanging out and growing up as a kid and mom making this stuff at home. Pretty much the exact same ingredients with the same fish sauce to dip in The other thing I come here for is the Bo Ba Mong. I think that's how you spell it? Its basically three types of grilled meat with a lot of vegetables that you can use to roll them into and dip into that fish sauce. So delicious. Come to think of it, I may just hit that up tomorrow. read more
