I've been here many times since my first time a couple of years ago. I've gone back mostly for their pho. They have made several changes over the years including on the menu, sauce offerings, the seating, and now most recently, their ordering process. Service has been consistently friendly and accommodating. With this most recent visit, we came with 10 minutes left til closing and although they were cleaning, they welcomed us graciously and didn't pressure us to order to-go over dining in. I understand the pain of a last minute customer coming in and we were low-key embarrassingly *those* people that night (sorry and thank you!) We were so grateful they welcomed us as we had gotten off a flight later than expected, did not have dinner yet, and got there as quickly as we could to make it before they closed, and ate as fast as we could so they could go home. Generally their chicken pho has been great! This is coming from someone whose mom cooks pho and I'm generally like why would I go out when it's at home? I also generally do not crave pho, let alone chicken pho because I like traditional beef pho, but theirs is some of the best in town. Their soup is flavorful, not too fatty, and very generous on the meat. We've also gotten their coffees before and they were pretty solid--no complaints! This most recent time I wanted to try their bun bo hue (spicy beef noodles). At this time I also discovered their menu had changed and the ordering process had changed. They had several types of bun bo hue (different combos of meats). I ended up getting the one with all the meats and there was a generous amount of meat and noodles. The spice level was adequate for me and I love spicy! Dish came out piping hot and because we were trying to hurry up so they could close down and go home, I kind of burned my mouth. Although BBH was delicious, I think pho will still be my go-to here. In terms of the ordering process, they used to have you sit down, order, eat, and then pay. The change includes paying for your food first, then sitting down to enjoy your meal. Overall restaurant is pretty clean, and I love the artwork in here. I highly recommend Saigon 88 as it is a staple in my list of Elk Grove/Sacramento eats. read more

I usually eat here quite often, at least every other 2 weeks. However, today, on 9/19/26, we came early in the morning and I found a black curly hair deep within my #1 fresh noodles with chicken. We let the young waiter know and he did not apologize once. I let him know that I did not want a replacement, but no other compensation was offered to me nor a refund. After he took my bowl away he came up to me and say "so you guys are basically done right?" I told him yes and the only other thing he said to us was "have a good day" when we left. We came here for the 2nd time. The Pho Ga is still good. I still give the pho a 4/5. Good but not the best. The "Com Ga Hai Nam" (Chicken rice plate) was so good. It's definitely a 5/5 for me. I'm a little disappointed, been coming here for a while and love their pho. Came in today and noticed they made a change. You have to pre-order before sitting and you grab your own water or tea. After we placed our order, one of the serving staff placed the garnishments on the table. We waited for about 10 mins to get our food. This place has become self served. They must have changed ownership, even the protein pieces are less than usual. Not really fond of the changes. I may just get my chicken pho Togo next time. Stopped in for early lunch on a Sunday. It was my first time here I was actually headed for the restaurant next-door, but on a strict diet so I opted for this place with my friends. You have to order first before sitting . There's plenty of seating there's booth and tables. My friends orders came quickly. I came in with three other people everyone got their order. They ordered basic bun Bo hue & 2 oxtail bun Bo hue. My friends commented that there's not much meat on the oxtail. I Ordered the chicken pho. I waited a lot longer. They were almost halfway through their pho before I received my order. I had asked for no cilantro because of the strict diet I had to be on for a few days so I can only have soup and noodles and lean chicken. I could not eat any vegetables. I'm not sure if this is why it took longer to make but once I finally received my chicken pho. It was good. soup was tasty. I couldn't finish my pho so I had to take it to go. It's a good size. I like the concept, you order your food then seat yourself where you like. Within 5 minutes of me sitting down my food came out. The sauces they give you are pretty good. I would come back. Had a great lunch here for the first time. I think the last time I was here what a while ago when it was Pho Le. The service of purchasing ahead and then sitting down is very ideal here. Self serve water and teas. Less waiting for everyone altogether. The place looks pretty spacious filled with rnb music. Now straight to the food. We ordered the bun Bo hue and pho ga or chicken pho. Really liked that they provided dipping sauces for the chicken. The ginger scallion sauce is really good! The other pepper garlic sauce tasted sweet reminding me of the sauce usually given with a roasted duck. The chicken itself was steamed not too dry or too soft. 06.04.2026 - SAIGON 88 - SACRAMENTO, CA - looks like a new business name I'm not familiar with - there was a different Vietnamese Restaurant here before and their menu was more extensive - upon arrival I saw the menu is completely different. I ordered their #14 Classic Bun Bo - this is the spicy broth section. I ordered this as it looked familiar in the list of items needed to make this soup. They took the menu so I can rewrite them here. I just know it's called classic. Waited for about 10 mins. When my bowl arrived, it appeared surprisingly large. You can see the orange red oils at the top which indicates its spicy seasonings. A plate of fresh veggies: red cabbage, cilantro, basil. Another side of partial cooked onions. I have been wanting to branch out and try a new BBH place, and after scouring the reviews for Saigon 88, I decided to give them a try. The restaurant is located in a quiet strip mall by the United Artists theater. There is plenty of parking. The interior has a lot of booths, some for groups and some for parties of two, so you'll definitely be comfortable while enjoying your hot bowl of soup. The menu is limited, with a focus on Pho Ga and BBH. Obviously I was only here for the BBH, so I went with the BBH 88 one, which comes with all the meats and pork blood. The condiment section has plenty of fixings if you want to add any, including a giant carafe of chili fish sauce. There were only two servers, but they were both friendly and attentive. I was given a carafe of water, which I always appreciate, since I drink a lot of water when eating. My BBH came with a side of fresh herbs as well as pickled onions. I don't often receive pickled onions so this was great. I particularly enjoyed eating them with the pork blood cubes. There were also banana blossoms with the herbs, which I liked, as it seems very few places here serve banana blossoms. It was a bit of a wait for me to get my BBH, and my server thanked me for waiting. I said I didn't mind at all. However, if you are in a hurry, this isn't the place for you. My bowl was huge and steaming hot. I was really happy that I got not just one, but two pork hocks. At my usual BBH place in south sac I only get one, but the portion is smaller. There was a ton of broth. Personally, the ratio of broth to noodles/meat was a little off. The broth wasn't as lemongrass-y as I would have liked, and it also wasn't as flavorful as the place I go to is. It had a good spice level though, and adding extra limes to the broth helped. Next time I'll see if I can ask for some shrimp paste, because it was also lacking some of that funk. The noodles were really nice and bouncy, and the pieces of meat I did receive were tender. The star of the show was of course the pork hocks. Nothing beats their tender fatty goodness. The pork blood was solid and a nice consistency. The cha was thinly cut, but still good. I wasn't able to finish my broth, so I saved a pork hock and some meat along with the rest of the broth to enjoy at a later time. For the price, it was definitely a big bowl of BBH, but it wasn't my favorite. I'd rather go back to my usual spot that serves BBH in a hot stone pot (formerly Tu Quy but now called Pho Plus 101), but Saigon 88 will do if I want a place where I have leftovers to take home. read more

The chicken seasoning is quite heavy and chicken is quite dry (like cooked in advanced and not juicy). The chicken soup is a bit on the salty side, and maybe it meant to eat with the rice. The beef noodles taste so much better. It was a bit on the spicy side but tolerable. The beef slices are good. Overall I like that noodles way more than the chicken rice dish, which was surprising. We love Saigon 88. They serve the best chicken pho in town. The only request I would like is for the chicken rice plate to go back to how it was plated. Now the chicken is chopped, unnecessary fillers like pickled cabbage and papaya shreds. I am ok with increased prices but added items to fill up the plate takes away the uniqueness of the rice and chicken. I posted a picture of how the original plate use to be. They always greet you with a friendly hello and never take too long to come take your order. They often let you pick whichever table you like unless it's busy also. The staff is very nice and professional so you gotta give them that. The place is nice, plenty of parking and at a nice corner of a busy little plaza. They even have outdoor seating if you prefer! Chicken Pho: 4.5/5 It's on the heavier side since there's lots of fried shallots in the bowl. So imo, it wasn't great eating this while sick/hungover, but I'm sure I would've loved it otherwise. But the chicken though, I'd rate it 6 out of 5 stars! It was so tender and literally melts in your mouth, even the white meat! The 'fresh noodles' were okay, I've had better ones but it wasn't bad. Specialty chicken rice plate: 3.5/5 I wanted to love this but the rice was a bit mushy and wasn't the best Hainan rice I've had, in terms of flavor too. Came in to eat lunch with my partner for the first time today. No wonder this place has so many good reviews, this spot took over the original spot of Pho Le. The layout is the same with some added renovations. The artwork is so beautiful with Vietnamese culture when you first walk in. Their menu is big on pho ga (chicken) and other chicken dishes, which isn't too common with many of the pho places in town. Its a bummer they took away the beef pho from their menu. Their chicken is free range chickens and you can customize which noodles you want from thin, thick, Vermicelli, or the bean thread. We ordered the pho ga with thick pad thai noodles and a bowl of bun bo hue. Omg, the amount of green onions abd fried onions and loved the amount of broth, so, so amazing!! Their toppings even had banana blossoms too which i found so amazing as not many serves this authentic topping to their bbh. Their hot chili oil is more on the spicy level, so I'd probably add a sparse amount if you just want a bit of heat. Additionally, every table has their own pitcher size of the, oh, so famous sweet Vietnamese fish sauce. Theirs has some ginger in it so its a nice dipping sauce to compliment the chicken dishes. It reminds me of the scallion ginger sauce for Hainese chicken. The service was adequate as they only had one waitress on hand.. We waited for about 12 min before staff came to assist. She came three times to check on us too. :) Overall, you can tell they pay attention to the details from the authentic toppings, broth, and quality. The pho was hot, filling, and broth tasted good to me. you can taste the ginger and aromatics in the broth. They have a good amount of chicken for the dish and the noodles had a nice chewy & bouncy texture to them. Super disappointed they changed their menu. They no longer serve the sliced rib eye BBH. I'm not a fan of other cuts of meats and I love BBH so Saigon 88 became a regular. Additionally, their chicken rice plate has changed. My daughter loved it before with the chicken on top of the rice and the ginger scallions oil over it. Now they serve 3 different sauces on the side and papaya with their rice and it appears less chicken. It still somewhat the same but previously what made that dish was the ginger onion scallion on top. Their BbH broth is still phenomenal , but even the wait staff said many people have asked them why they took the sliced rib eye BBh off the menu. Apparently they wanted to differentiate from their sister restaurant , Sitlo Saigon, but Sitlo is pho. Which is already different. Pho ga when done correctly is both mellow and strong and Saigon 88 does it right! There's a comforting deep chicken flavor but is still so tasty from the garlic, ginger, and onions. Speaking of, the garlic ginger scallion oil is DELICIOUS. I put that on every bite of chicken! Downside is that I ordered my pho as the rice stick noodles (as opposed to fresh) but they weren't cooked long enough. Definitely had too much of a raw bite.
