    Mango curry

Other Thai sounds be red with envy over their red curry! The interior was well decorated and service was efficient for the most part. The place was freezing, bring a sweatshirt. They have a full bar, decent wine list. The curry had Japanese eggplant and bell peppers. Great flavor! Kho Soi was fantastic and to go packaging ensured the quality and experience r was maintained. The basil fried rice had great flavor and the veggies were well cooked. Stop by for a quick lunch pick up and linger over a romantic dinner. It was pretty full by 7.

I went to Hiso for lunch and had a great experience. I ordered the drunken noodles from the lunch menu with medium spice and a Thai tea. As someone who doesn't handle super spicy dishes well, the medium level had a nice little kick but still let all the flavors come through. The Thai tea was huge, but it was so delicious that finishing it wasn't a problem at all. The space is very cute and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout the visit. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving Thai food again.

In a nutshell; Very cozy, yet fancy casual, great food and excellent service. Looking at it from the outside I wasnt really expecting how nice of a place it is inside. Not a lot of parking around, usual downtown sacramento Groans and pains, but looking pass that, youre greeted with a very nice ambience and vibe, server was awesome, the food is great, semi-fancy restaurant priced, but the deservingly so with how good the food is. Overall, an awesome establishment to try out!.

Had a great time at Hiso, another find from one of my fellow yelpies, you guys are on a roll! The pad see ew was incredible, so much flavor, highly recommend! Also the mango sticky rice was such a delicious way to end the night, creamy, sweet and so good with the coconut ice cream! Service was also incredible, our waiter gave us the best recommendations and checked on us regularly. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Marcels foodie score: 4.3

Came back again with a couple friends and tried the: Chicken Pad Thai Laos Sausage Duck Larb Mango Sticky Rice Everything was absolutely delicious (as usual). One thing to note, there's no mild spice level here, you can go from no spice, to medium level spice and beyond.

Great food & atmosphere. Quick service. I like how close this restaurant is from my apartment literally walking distance. I will definitely be back again.

I popped in for an extra long lunch. This place is pretty cute. It would be a nice date night spot. The service is great too. I ordered the chicken and rice special. I love this preparation of chicken. The sauce we really nice and the consumè was lovely. The hibiscus iced tea was sweetened, and just ok. Definitely coming back to try other dishes!

Only ordered the papaya salad here and boy was it disappointing. I think they used bottled sauce :( barely any tomatoes.. NO long beans!! Which are my fav in there. And barely any limes. No salted crab for how expensive it cost too! Didn't order anything else... not sure if I'll be back :(

I'm from the Bay Area where there are tons of good Thai spots, so I wasn't expecting much when I was in Sacramento for the night and craving Thai food. We picked this place kind of randomly and it ended up being way better than expected. Honestly, probably one of the top 3 Thai places I've ever been to. We got the crispy chicken skin to start and it was delicious! Super crispy, really flavorful, and the sweet chili sauce on the side went perfectly with it. I could've easily eaten a couple more orders. We also tried the papaya salad. We asked for mild since my partner can't do spicy, but it was still really hot. I usually go for spicy and even I felt it. If you're sensitive to heat, definitely go with no spice and add chili on your own. The beef pad Thai was great too. A lot of places mess it up with weird noodles or it ends up looking too red and tasting off, but this one was perfect. Good texture and flavor without being too sweet or oily. The space is nice but it gets loud. There was a birthday party going on and they were super loud, so maybe not the best place for a quiet dinner. But the service was great. Super attentive and friendly. Overall, really impressed. I'd absolutely come back next time I'm in Sacramento.

Came here on a tuesday night. We ordered the crispy chicken skin yellow curry with chicken and chicken pineapple fried rice. I also had the hibiscus tea. Everything tasted very very good. This was a very yummy meal. The ambiance inside was very comfortable and relaxing. In fact, I don't think I have ever went to a restaurant that had more comfortable chairs. The christmas tree was also nice. Service hero is very attentive also. Our server was helpful, but not overbearing. She seemed to know exactly when we needed something. And when we didn't. This was a five star visit.

We ordered drinks and I got the Canton Fiesta drink, this was so fresh and a great summer drink. We then got the crispy rice bites with beef tartare and a curry crab. Then we ordered dinner, we got the watermelon salad, popcorn chicken, shaking beef, shrimp fried rice, and the roasted potatoes. All the portion sizes are pretty big so we ordered more than enough food for three people. Everything was incredible, so fresh and great flavors. We had leftovers so they boxed those up for us and told us they'd have them for us at the front to take before we left. All in all I would definitely recommend this restaurant and am looking forward to coming back again!

Not one to leave a claim like that unvalidated, I had to give it a try. Since I came for chicken, I ordered the Fried Chicken, Petaluma half bird, infused maple, Szechuan peppercorn, orange and rosemary. While this is not traditional southern fried chicken, its a marvelous fusion of flavors on the moistest chicken breast I have had in a very long time! The flavor profile is so well executed that the various components surface to your senses on a seeming time-release so you taste them at different times during the bite, leaving you with a hint of orange lingering into the next bite. I'm impressed! The staff are some of the friendliest I have met at a restaurant and they are very proud of their menu offerings. A very nice young man, Sam, came to inquire how I was enjoying my meal, as if the growing pile of very clean bones were not enough. Despite him preparing to leave his shift, he took the time to tell me about the special spicy chicken coconut broth they only serve on Saturdays, and even made a special effort to bring me a sample! Let's just say, I will be back on a Saturday! The number of menu offerings is not extensive but, from the dishes I saw on other tables, the portions are generous and look quite appetizing. I guess I will have to come back soon and try them! Great job!

I tried their sukiyaki set, both wagyu and seafood. I wish they had given some instructions on the approach or order I should eat the sets of food. It was a little chaotic trying to figure out how I could submerge all the ingredients in the broth so they would cook evenly. The tempura is perfectly crispy, but the rice was a little brittle and got dried really fast. The texture was more like Vietnamese broken rice, and it caught me off guard because when I tried their sushi a while ago, they used very high-quality rice. As is typical with sukiyaki, the broth becomes very flavorful at the end, absorbing all the flavors from high-quality ingredients, but my udon got a little dry while waiting. Since I tried both set, the wagyu sukiyaki broth became a little too sweet at the end. My favorite is definitely the seafood sukiyaki broth. Would I try these pricy sukiyaki again? Probably not. Would I go back to Azayaka again? 100%. This would not discourage me from going back there any amount.

And what a relief that is as I have trouble finding sushi that's even vegetarian around here these days. Yes, Village of OM is on the expensive side, and yes, it is worth it. You will not find any boring, flavorless vegetable rolls here. Somehow both classy and comfortable at the same time, with that mood lighting that I quite enjoy. I would def come here on date but both times I've visited so far have been with friends. On my last visit I was treated to a delicious birthday dinner, complete with complimentary raspberry sorbet and cream dessert with sparkler on top. I do not remember the last time someone told the server it was my birthday and I got a little something, what a nice treat. :-) Some of my favorite items on the menu: Chef's Choice Nigiri: may include eggplant, trumpet mushroom, oshi salmon roll (Sooooo tasty. Fish flavor without the fish? Yes.), lomi salmon, lion's mane, etc. Perfect to share with another person. Pan Fried Gyoza Salt & Pepper Tofu The Village Roll: Arrives in a smoky globe for extra flavor ambiance! tempura roasted yam, grilled lion's mane, avocado, house sauce, fried onion, micro greens, wood smoked Zen Garden Roll: micro greens, shittake mushroom, pickled daikon, radish, shiso, ginger, green onion, tamari, and crushed, roasted sesame. The daikon is a little overpowered, but all of the components taste so great together regardless. Ziggy of Om Roll: I love an apple roll! This one also has tempura trumpet mushroom, green onion, avocado, and spicy orange sauce. Their cocktail menu is really cool, too. Sorted by each of the four elements. My recommendations are the Paper Crane, Air (Vodka Lychee), and Ocean Vibes. I want to try their Old Fashioned but it has my kryptonite in it (star anise) so I'll have to ask for a modification. Something I've no doubt they would do. No fear, they've also salads (including tea leaf and curry), small bites, and noodle dishes on the menu if you aren't in the mood for sushi. There is also bar seating if you would rather that than a table in the dining area. Staff are professional and approachable. I always enjoy myself when I come in and look forward to my return. Bathroom report is fancy vibes and comfort, much the same as the dining area. This planta is a crossover of naan with Mochi like middle with the prefect crisp served with an amazing Chicken sauce. Yah...will be having this again. Hubby had most of it because I was saving my appetite for what's to come. *TeaLead Salad - Yes its a MUST. The fried seasoned garlic is the secret to why this salad hits the palate in the most perfect way. The dressing is oil based which wasn't over powering or even greasy. The peanut was tastefully done. Yes - I ate most of it. Fresh ingredients in every bite. *Chili Basil Beef - at first glance, it looked like Mongolian Beef but far from the taste. The cumin, ginger and chili flakes gave this dish the wow factor. Mind you, I dislike ginger pieces and didn't come across one piece so they must have used ginger powder which I appreciate. We all know the benefits of ginger and I feel like I got a dose of it without biting into one. *PadThai - we were warned that the Burmese way come with a hint of sweetness and this was definitely true but notoverpowering. Husband enjoyed it, me not so much. The dishes came with extra large prawns. You can tell the prawns we're seasoned first hand before getting tossed into the mix. DRINKS: Husband had the coconut monsoon (rum with coconut flakes and I had Bite Dog HAZY IPA - yum. Prime location - corner of 16th street and J, street parking. Restaurant was clean and with a bar and open kitchen concept. What I would have liked: I wish the aesthetic of the restaurant showcased the culture. Wish the dishes were served in a more traditional serving plates. My eyes eat first so I would have appreciated the extra touch but the TASTE definitely made up for it. Will definitely be back! The meal came with dessert which was a choice of ice cream; I chose the cookies and cream. The chicken wing appetizer was scrumptious. The wings were fried and coated with sauce with lots of jalapenos. Service was good as the employee offered samples of all their broths to assist in making a selection. After the food was served he checked if we needed anything and refilled water. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It was busy on a Saturday evening so reservations are recommended. Free parking is on the street.

First of all, the food served is exactly like the photos. I got the short rib bun burger and bulgogi gyoza. The burger (omg) had a balance of sweet and salty but also a little spicy. Halfway through I noticed something yellow, it was a pineapple! Usually I have mixed feelings about pineapple with foods like pizza. But this complimented so well. Now, the gyoza. Crispy and you can't go wrong with bulgogi. What I was surprised with was inside I think it was japchae! If you like Korean food like me, I was so excited to see this twist. And yes it was yummy. I seem to get lucky most times and get to meet the owners. That day I met them and they're so nice! I can tell they put a lot of thought into the menu, ingredients, decor, etc. The owners are Japanese and Korean. Hence KoJa! Even this detail was really impressive. I ended up going back because the owner told me that his wife (also owner) created Yang Nyum and it was really good and popular. So I got Yang Nyum, kamikaze fries, and taro boba. The portions were great. But most of all, he was right about Yang Nyum, delicious! I didn't realize the kamikaze fries had beef, so yummy but I definitely overate that day, lol. One other thing I really liked was you could order at the register or kiosk. This is a great way to avoid lines. Once you order they have a screen that shows your ETA (why do other restaurants not have this?). I did go during the day though. So, I can only imagine how amazing it looks at night. Especially after dancing or bar hopping, the food here would pair well. Koja also sells alcohol too though and apparently downstairs is where the dancing is at. Will I go here again, absolutely.

This place is great casual place to try out. Good vibe when walk in. Love the coconut rice, The pork was so delicious and the fried wonton in the middle was a crafty decision and adds a little crunch when bitting into it. Best way to eat it is to pick it up and bite into it like you would a burger to get the full effect. They do give you plastic utensils for it, but I didn't use them. 5 Overall: 4 Definitely will go back to try more items on the menu!
