Pranang chicken curry with sticky rice
    Brian G.

There's a lot of good thai restaurants in Sac but I wanted to try out Charm Thai to see how it measures up. Panang curry (chicken): A- Very legitimate curry! The flavor is amazing as it is very creamy and nutty. Only thing I think would be better is if they included some veggie or potato in it as it's basically just the protein. Their sticky rice is very good, perfect texture as it clings together well and you can feel the individual grains. Fried shrimp rolls: B Wrapped in a wonton and deep fried. Tastes good with the sauce they serve. Service is very friendly.

I'm not going to trash this place, because their heart is in the right place. The Hostess/Waitress was nice and it's obvious they put care into the preparations. That said, the dishes are expensive. The service was slow and the food was very average. I really enjoyed my Larb salad. The Beef Noodle soup was an extremely small portion and the flavor had a medicinal herb taste. Ceiling Decor is cute and the curved front window is a nice feature. Not a bad meal, but i would not return.

TLDR: Really good Thai food, properly seasoned, fast, enthusiastic service from the staff and good value. For the Readers: Located in a small open shopping center with a few other businesses and bars, the parking was a little tricky as the parking lot is not very large. I had to drive around the block to ultimately find a spot in the same parking lot after someone left. Not sure where the drivers were visiting becuase the restaurant was almost empty. The restaurant decor is simple, with wide, flat baskets adorning the ceiling and just a few Asian touches on the walls. The statue surrounded by plants was the main decorative focal point in the corner. It also provides good camouflage for the speaker where top 40 music from the 70s through the 90s plays. We were greeted quickly by our very enthusiastic server who got us seated and brought menus and water. He made a few suggestions on the menu and left us to consider our choices. After placing our order, the food arrived quickly, with a nice presentation. In search of spicy dishes, I ordered the green curry with chicken, Thai spicy. My wife wanted to try something different from her normal Penang so she tried the Praram curry. We also tried their spring rolls with avocado and peanut sauce. The curry dishes had lots of vegetables with a good serving of meat. They even got the heat level of my dish correct. Nice heat that blended well and did not seem to be an after thought. My wife mentioned that she was trying something different and the server brought her small dish of Panang sauce so she could compare the two flavors. That was a very thoughtful touch. Overall, I will definitely return to this place. Well done!

I had a dinner in this place for a few times now and I definitely can recommend it . Thai iced tea , pad thai , pad sew and ton kha are very delicious here . They are open when other places in on their lunch time so it is very convenient for me as I am always hungry exactly at that time . Atmosphere here is reminding me about Thailand . Very welcoming place and service was good

We had been looking for a new Thai restaurant because... let me tell you. WOW! The authentic flavors, the generous portion, the amazing friendly fast service (Tyler), the clean/elegant yet inviting ambiance, ample parking. They use ingredients that we see lacking in many modern Thai restaurants. Not pictured bc we devoured it immediately- pad see ew + papaya salad. Both 5/5. We highly recommwill + plan to definitely return!

Charm Thai is really close to my new house in Sacramento, and we were starving after a day of moving and unpacking, so we decided to try it out. It's a tiny place, and most people seem to do takeout as there was a constant flux of people stopping by to pick up food. Besides us, there were only two other small parties dining in. However, the staff were super friendly and attentive to all customers. Let's start with the good. The eggplant dish is amazing! I've never had anything like it before, and I've had a lot of Thai food in my life. I think what makes it a little extra special is the drizzle of coconut cream, maybe, to finish the dish (see photo). So, it's not quite like a full-on curry but it offers some yummy creaminess to the dish. My partner and I were raving over this dish and fighting for the last spoonfuls of sauce. The pad see ew was also good, and I loved the use of Chinese broccoli in it instead of regular broccoli. My kids did not like the Thai iced tea, saying that it wasn't sweet enough. I had a sip and agreed with them. Ironically, though, I thought the rest of the dishes were maybe a little too sweet, so it seemed odd that the drink was not sweet enough. Overall, I think the dishes here may be too sweet for some folks, with not enough balance between sweet and sour. However, for sure we will be coming back for the eggplant dish!

Found this spot on Instagram and had to stop by! I loved the food. One of the best Thai spots in town. We had lunch here on a Sunday. Liu, our hostess, was kind and very welcoming. Decor was trendy. For appetizers we had the curry puff pastries with chicken. AMAZING. The crust was moist and buttery! For entrees, we ordered the ginger stir fry with chicken and the eggplant delight with pork. The sauces were delicious with the right amount of spice. I requested fresh chili fish sauce on the side. I appreciated the fresh lime and Thai chili in it! We ate everything with white rice. Soooo yummy. Highly recommend!

The food here was great! It's a small restaurant but it wasn't too crowded when we arrived, and my husband and I were seated right away. The server brought us a bottle of water and the table was already set with water glass, plates, and cutlery. It's a casual atmosphere, and we caught them mid undecorating from Christmas still. They took our order quickly, and the food didn't take very long either. The flavors were delicious, and you could tell the food was fresh and high quality. We had the Yellow Curry with a side of white rice, and the chicken Pad Thai. We will definitely be coming back here. It's probably our new go to Thai spot!

I work down the street and stop by here every once and awhile when I didnt feel like packing lunch. Their service is SO good, always so nice and happy to be there. My favorite Thai food is red curry, I love it extra spicy and their Thai hot was exactly the way I like it sooooo good. I got their drunken noodle today for lunch with a "hot" spice level, not as spicy as the hot for the red curry but it can't out fresh from the wok so it was spicy and temperature hot! Got to come back to try more!

    Love the ceiling!

Food was delicious. We ordered drunken noodle, curry puffs and eggplant dish. Loved them all. Will come back to try more

First, the menu boards...it's a lot of delicious varieties that's hard to remember the exact names to order once you step up to the cashier. But the staff is wonderful, happy service people...that help you out to correct and clarify. My favorites: ============ * Impossible Taco Salad [5.0 stars] -- my favorite salad. * Mama Chen's Chinese Chicken Salad [5.0 stars] -- omg, the chicken. * Avocado & Quinoa Superfood Ensalada w/Chicken [4.5 stars] * Saved Drake Farm's Salad w/chicken [4.5 stars] Seasonal favorites: ================ * Seasonal: Tuna on wheat (they are huge) [5.0 stars] * Seasonal "The 8 Hour" Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich [4.0 stars]: Pork was tender, but way too sweet and on grilled panini? Hardly. It was a 6" roll cut in half, and barely toasted or grilled. Plus, it doesn't come with chips, c'mon! That's a necessity in my book! Also: ==== * The Farm Club Sandwich [4.5 stars] * Habanero potato chips by Mama Zuma's...excellent. * Love the soda machine. You won't find Poopsi or Poke here, only Puck's - an all natural, no artificial colors or preservatives (you'll have to bring it from the outside if you want it!). Recommend: The Black Cherry. One peeve: ========== No salt shakers. If you ask, they have to go to the back and bring out a little paper cup worth. I miss their two for specials that included a bottle of wine. Stopped in for happy hour on a Thursday around 3:30/4pm. It wasn't too busy. Love the renovation. It looks so nice. Plenty of seating. There's outside seating as well. Parking may be a challenge when it's busy. I Ordered a margherita or pepperoni pizza. Tried 3 of their spritz. Blood Orange Spritz which is aperol, blood orange, sparkling water, prosecco. Also tried the Blackberry Basil Spritz which is blackberry, crème de cassis, basil, sparkling water, prosecco. The 3rd drink I tried was the Cucumber Mint Spritz which is cucumber, elderflower, lemon, sparkling water, prosecco. All 3 were really good, but the cucumber mint was really refreshing. And the blackberry basil was my favorite. Also ordered a trio salad. I opted for the beets, Summer Vegetable Orzo, & the Mediterranean cucumber. My favorite was the orzo and the beets. Also tried the Power Caesar salad with chicken. It was really good. It was not your typical Caesar salad but so good. Also ordered 4 desserts. Tried the Strawberry Tres Leches Parfait which is fresh strawberries, vanilla sponge cake, &whipped cream. Also got 2 of their tiramisu parfaits which is mascarpone cream, & coffee-soaked ladyfingers. Super strong but so good. You might need a cup of coffee with this one. And the third was the banana pudding parfait which is vanilla coconut pudding, bananas, vanilla streusel, "whipped cream". All three parfaits were really good. They were all very different. I couldn't finish the parfaits so I had to take them to go. They have lids for them. Happy Hour is monday - friday, 2pm - 5 pm dine in only, & you can only order one pizza for happy hour price per guest. I will definitely be back soon. Great place to just grab a bite or drink with friends and family.

When I asked how I was supposed to eat the salad I just ordered, she begrudgingly went find the manager who immediately produced two forks). They're all so busy making the bowls that it's hard to get their attention for questions about anything. It's clearly designed to be automated to save money, but there's no personal touch. We opted for the bucket of fried chicken with sides. We chose the corn bread, mac and cheese, red beans and rice and a side salad. My wife loved the corn bread. The mac and cheese was great and was cheesy and creamy and had some nicely browned cheesy bites which I love. The red beans and rice had little chunks of meat and a great flavor profile; however it was a little watery for my liking. The salad was crisp and fresh. The fried chicken was nice and crunchy and juicy. I would've liked a little more herbs and spices in the batter, but it was tasty nonetheless. Next time I'll probably try a sandwich and definitely won't forget to grab more of the delicious mac and cheese. There's a cool speakeasy, The Roost in the back. There were tables and booths available next to the big bright windows. We checked out the menu on the wall and while she used the restroom, I ordered our food. She got the bbq chicken sandwich, and I got the turkey club. I paid at the register then grabbed our number, which you put on the end of the table so they can deliver your food to you. We first decided to sit inside at a booth next to the window, but the tables were pretty close to the benches, and they couldn't be adjusted. Our food just happen to be brought to our table, so I picked up our plates and we easily found a spot to sit outside. I'm not sure if you buy something from the farmers market and then allowed to sit here and eat, but there were others bringing their food from the over to eat. My sister enjoyed her bbq chicken sandwich. The bbq sauce was good and they put crispy onions on it. I am not a fan of the turkey club. I felt like the bread is too thick. The turkey was pretty thin and bland. Not enough mayo or avocado. Zero seasonings. I boxed it up and gave it to my sister, who also boxed the rest of hers up. I may not be a fan, but if there's something on the menu that you recommend, let me know.
