What appears to be a roach nymph
    Jasmine C.

We went to Chef Burma because my friends and I wanted to try something new. We all ordered different dishes to share, including two lamb dishes, a shrimp dish, and coconut rice. One of the first things we noticed was the open kitchen layout right next to our seating area, where you can see the cooks. Almost immediately, some of my friends felt irritation from the strong cooking aromas, especially from frying onions. Overall, the food itself was different and enjoyable, and we liked being able to share everything family-style. However, toward the end of the meal, we found what appeared to be a cockroach nymph in one of the dishes. We were very upset and had a difficult time getting our server's attention, needing to ask another staff member to help after about 10 minutes. When our server came over, she seemed embarrassed and said she would speak to the manager. She returned and said the manager would be comping one of the dishes, which felt a bit unusual given that we weren't even sure which dish the issue came from. A little later, the manager came over and asked, "So what's the problem, ladies?" When I explained what we found, she quickly responded that they "don't have roaches" and asked to see a photo. While I understand wanting to clarify the situation, the interaction felt defensive rather than apologetic. Ultimately, our entire meal was comped, which we appreciated, but the overall handling of the situation left us feeling unsettled. For context, I've had a much different experience at another restaurant where I once found a small piece of a butter wrapper in my steak. In that case, the manager immediately came over, apologized, and comped the entire meal without hesitation. That contrast made this experience feel even more surprising.

Words can not express how happy my husband and I are to have a Burmese restaurant (closer to us) in Sacramento! This restaurant was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the food was the best Burmese that we have had outside of our favorite place that we compare all Burmese food to lol. This place was a close second, only because they do not have the same chicken dishes as our flagship location. The coconut rice was cooked perfectly, nice and sweet without being overly so. The garlic noodles were delicious, nice and light with a good bite to the noodle. I could eat two bowls of this by myself because they are my favorite Burmese dish of all time. Im not a glutton so I shared with my husband, and in doing so, he shared his platha and chicken dip with me. This dish is everything you could want as a starter. Buttery, crispy, bursting with flavor! We also shared a tea leaf salad and their fermented tea leaf dressing was outstanding. We will definitely be back!

I love a fun night out, and it's extra special when friends gather for our monthly dinner. The service was exceptional. A special thank you to Angela, the manager, and to Bella our amazing server. You made our dining experience perfect. We started out with drinks and appetizers. Fried tofu- a tasty dish, but out of all of our incredible nibbles, this one was my least favorite. I would've preferred for it to have more seasoning on the tofu itself, maybe even more sauce to share. Fried chicken wings- light, not greasy, lightly seasoned, and really tasty! Samusa- like a Samosa, but with lighter flavors. Curried potatoes, with a mixture of some green beans, carrots, with a vegetarian dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious! We dined on and shared numerous entrées, which is really the way to experience a restaurant, culinary abilities! Plus, who doesn't want to try everything they possibly can with friends?! Eggplant with garlic sauce- definitely a wonderful vegetarian dish. The eggplant was perfectly made, and the garlic sauce was not overpowering, and it made each bite of eggplant sumptuous. Mango shrimp- it's one of those dishes that is so pretty that you can't wait to dig in. Large shrimp, with sautéed veggies and lots of mango sauce. I love the shrimp, I'm just not a fan of mango and shrimp together. It's definitely a dish worth trying if you enjoy both. Basil chili lamb- I always love a good lamb dish, and especially when it's as perfectly made as this one was. It wasn't game at all. The meat was tender, juicy, lightly seasoned and absolutely delicious. basil chili beef- this was equally as delicious as the lamb dish. The beef was tender, and so flavorful! Coconut rice- omg! The race was light, fluffy, and the coconut flavor was not overwhelming. It was a lovely accompaniment to the entrées, and truth be told, we all inhaled our food and especially the rice. They're literally was not an empty bowl left behind. For dessert, we all shared dessert Platha. The mango ice cream was absolutely decadent and delicious. The platha was tasty, and the fresh banana with a mango ice cream made for a perfect bite! This is a great place to enjoy Burmese food with friends, family, a date night... It's a great experience! Parking is a tad tricky, but there are plenty of parking buildings around that make it so much easier. Reservations while not necessary, are highly encouraged. The restaurant was at full capacity during our experience, and with the lovely weather that we're experiencing, dining is available predominantly inside, but they do have some small seating outside. It all fills up quickly! Heartfelt thanks again to Angie and Bella. You two are rock stars, and thank you for taking such great care of us.

My friends and I were driving down from Vancouver and one of my burmese friend wanted some authentic food before we continued our journey down to San Diego. My group of 5 had made a reservation at around 9:30pm however their last call was at around 9:15pm. We had called to make sure it was ok for us to come and Bella had let us know that we could order ahead of time. We were able to cut down our time to 8:30pm so I had canceled my reservation for 9:30pm. As a result, they had called me to reconfirm whether or not we were still coming and even changed our reservation to 8:30pm on the spot! When we got there, we were immediately sat down and taken care of by our server Bella. She was amazing! Always taking care of us and making sure we were doing ok even though we came late. We ordered the samusa, ohn no khao swe, lettuce wrap w chicken, mohinga, chef burma salad, fried banana with mango ice cream, tea leaf salad, and the lazy monk. Absolutely amazing and authentic. The dishes were a bit on the sweeter side according to a fellow burmese friend that had brought us here. Overall, amazing service and amazing food! Would come back to try their other dishes!!

This place is a gluten-free Disneyland. My eyes went starry eyed when I saw "GF" written next to almost every menu item. The number of options was honestly overwhelming (which was a nice problem to have)! I went on a busy Sunday night and was surprised by how quick the service was. I considered ordering half the menu (for research obviously), but went with the waitress's recommendation instead: the (not so dry) Dry Curry Chicken, Mango Shrimp, and Coconut Rice. The Curry Chicken and Coconut Rice were definitely my favorites. Lots of flavor and super moist. I will definitely be back for more!

We are huge Burmese food enthusiasts and was looking for a place to eat while we stopped by in Sac. The food here is flavorful, authentic, and exceeded expectations. Noodles for the ngan gyi thok were perfectly bouncy and love that the chicken was tender and boneless. The basil beef was my personal favorite. Both tea leaf and mango salads were refreshing and what we needed, and we both preferred the tea leaf. Our server, Brian, went above and beyond and was able to anticipate our needs before we verbalized them. He was extremely attentive and had a great sense of humor. He also had great recommendations.

I have had this place on my list since I saw it on the Yelp Elite favorites and glad we finally had a chance to try it. We ate here for lunch before an event downtown and everything was so delicious. We decided to share two things - the basil beef and the shrimp and caviar fried rice. The rice was so fresh and light with plenty of big shrimp. And the basil beef was next level - the steak was so tender and flavorful. Our little surf and turf was perfect. They brought us a little dish of chili oil to go with our food and at first I thought, geez can you spare it? Then I tasted it and whoa! Super spicy, a little goes a long way. My husband loved it. We saved room for dessert and had the sticky rice pudding and mango ice cream. I had a breakfast pudding like this when I was in Bali years ago and this brought back great flavor memories. I love the added touch of sweetened condensed milk too. The place is open and inviting with a big bar in the back. Preston was our server he took great care of us, even offering us waters to go since we had a little walk afterwards. All the service staff was warm and friendly and made our visit special. Highly recommended!

We're happy that we made reservations as we came after the Broadway Matinee Show. The food was delicious but we're disappointed that when we ordered the Tea Leaf Salad was not tossed in front of us. I didn't realize that there were sesame seeds or I would have asked to not have it. I dropped my water glass on to my plate and it spilled on me, the plate, chair next to me and the floor. It was difficult getting anyone's attention to get a towel to clean up my mess. Finally getting the waiters attention, he asked if I wanted more water!!!!!!!! Of course, yes! My husband water glass was empty and he did not refill his glass! Our original waiter when we arrived ended up working at the bar. The tea leaf salad, fried chicken wings and pumpkin curry with veggies were all very good. They give 10% off if you show them your same day Broadway tickets. I showed the tickets to the waiter that was now working at the bar. He saw the tickets and said he would take care of the 10% off. When the check came, it was not taken care of. We'll be back as the only other Burmese food we had was in Folsom and hopefully the service will have improved.

We came here before a show at the SAFE Performing Arts Center and were absolutely blown away! First, the waitress and host were fantastic and accommodating. As an aside, I hate when I go somewhere and they say it'll be 10 minutes to get a table and it ends up being much longer - it was the opposite here. Secondly, the speed at which the dishes came out was outstanding - literally 10 minutes after ordering everything was on our table even when the waitress said that the Biryani would take "a little while." The place was packed, but the sound wasn't bad inside. We could have easy conversation without speaking up too much. Very cozy, but not overcrowded at all. The food. Oh wow, the food. We got the tea leaf salad, the chicken biryani, and a curried dish that I cant spell - ok, I looked it up it was the Nan Gyi Thok. Everything was fantastic. The textural journey of the tea leaf salad was a party in my mouth. The richness of the chicken biryani just sung with the rice. And the curry sauce with the noodles in the Nan Gyi Thok was so good. Check it out! And if you're going to a show, let them know and they give discounts on the night of.

I wish I could have eaten here but since I had dinner plans I had to get something to go I got the tea leaf salad which was really good The server was really friendly It's downtown so parking can be a challenge I think the food is worth it though The salad is vegan and very very flavorful

This was my first time having Burmese food, and it did not disappoint! First off, finding parking was easier than I expected (especially for it being located in Downtown). I went when they had just opened, super early in the morning, and even then the customer service was exceptional. We ordered the: tea leaf salad, pad thai, chicken coconut curry dip, and the dry chicken curry with a side of coconut rice. The tea leaf salad was the dish that surprised me the most-- with that saying, it was absolutely delicious and I now understand why it's their most popular dish listed on Yelp. It's healthy, tangy, and has a hint of spice. I love a good crunchy textured salad, so this hit the spot with all the seeds that are mixed in it. Everything else was just as good! In particular, the dry chicken curry with the side of coconut rice was the perfect combo. This was by far my standout dish. I could have this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The inside of the restaurant was decorated for holidays. There's plenty of indoor seating with a full bar, and the entire area is very spacious and clean with open windows for lots of natural light. Definitely looking forward to coming back with a couple of my friends!

This place was authentic and bomb. My first time trying the tea leaf salad, very interesting flavors. The Burmese Chicken biryani was a huge portion. I really like the lemongrass chicken. If you want something different, this is a good place to try.

We stopped into Chef Burma on a Monday afternoon for lunch. This was my first time here, but not my first time trying Burmese cuisine. I was able to find street parking easily and paid with ParkMobile before heading into this beautiful restaurant in the heart of Downtown Sacramento (at 16th & K). We were seated right away and ended up ordering Platha & Coconut Chicken Curry Dip ($12.95), Tea Leaf Salad ($17.95), Burmese Style Pad Thai ($18.95), Dry Curry Chicken ($19.95), a side of Coconut Rice ($3.95) and the Coconut Pudding ($9) for dessert. They fresh squeezed lemon juice over the Tea Leaf Salad and mixed it at the table for us. This salad is a must order when you visit, the flavors are amazing and it's a delicious and healthy mix of lettuce, cabbage, fermented tea leaves, peanuts, fried garlic, tomato, sunflower seeds, fried chickpeas, jalapenos, sesame seeds and lemon. This salad is so fresh and flavorful and the different textures and ingredients make it a filling lunch option on its own. The Platha and Coconut chicken curry dip was flavorful and rich in flavor, the platha was warm, flaky and fluffy and paired perfectly with the curry dip. The Pad Thai came out piping hot, it was a great portion size and the flavor was lovely. I would definitely order this again. The Dry Curry Chicken also came out fresh and hot and had string beans and okra in it with another rich and delicious sauce. We paired this with the coconut rice and it was lovely. The coconut rice on its own was also super flavorful and fragrant, you can absolutely taste the coconut. We ordered the fried coconut pudding for dessert and it came with our choice of a scoop of ice cream, we chose chocolate. Other options were vanilla, matcha, and mango. The restaurant is well lit and beautiful and a great spot for lunch or dinner. They also have a bar and offer a nice menu of cocktails and mocktails. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Since that visit I have returned three different times, always bringing someone different to show off this excellent restaurant find located near 73rd and Stockton Blvd Engawa Fusion is such a special place-this restaurant is over 30 minutes from my house in Natomas in traffic ,yet that never stops me from trekking my way across Sacramento-I love this place that much. On this particular visit we started with 2 different sushi tacos-We had the tuna version and the salmon version-each priced at $11.00. Now I could write a novel explaining the virtues of these culinary creations but I will keep it short-the tuna and the salmon tacos are such the perfect bite-well balanced-well seasoned-surprisingly heavy in the hand while being light to the taste-it's truly been my favorite new food item discovery of 2026. Next we went with the Stir-Fry Udon and this cost us $16.00. I've described this dish in the past as a dish I could eat every day of my life and would be a very happy person. The flavor and seasonings are flawless, the noodles are cooked perfectly, great chew-a very slurpable noodle for sure. I can easily see why this dish is such a popular item on their menu. This restaurant was given a spot on Yelps Top 100 Places to eat in 2025-nothing in this visit did a thing to show that honor wasn't well deserved. In closing-I don't know if I could recommend this spot any higher and I plan many future visits whenever I want to show people how amazing the culinary experience in Sacramento has truly become. 10/10 experience. PS-Parking could be a bit of a challenge as they share a lot with an auto shop but all of my visits I was able to secure a spot-I am sure you will as wel

The restaurant is super cute and has indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is covered and shaded which is perfect for warmer Sacramento months. They have a variety of menu items including a build your own bowl opton, tacos, nachos, sandwiches, loaded fries, musubi and an udon special. I ended up ordering the Umami Udon with special chicken as my protein ($13.50), a Build Your Own Bowl with fried rice, katsu chicken, the triple katsu sauce, and stir fried veggies with "The Works" ($16.50), and Musubi ($8.75). The staff was super friendly and helped me make some decisions for my order and recommended the umami udon special, which I'm so happy about. The food was made fresh and took a little bit, but was packed with care and was nice and hot. I took it home to enjoy and the food was still hot and the portion sizes were really generous. The Umami Udon was amazing, it had perfectly cooked udon noodles that had a great chew in a creamy teriyaki sauce with smokey bacon, mushrooms, onions and garlic. It was a great mix of sweet and savory and lived up to it's umami name. I would order this again and again, it was so good. The Build Your Own bowl was also delicious and I can see why the chicken katsu is a customer favorite. The veggies were fresh and the fried rice was really flavorful. The Spam Musubi had thick slices of spam with a nice marinade and came with sauces for dipping. I'll definitely be back again soon, and while I want to explore more of the menu the umami udon is happening again!

I think I can't remember what it was called and I only liked one ingredient from each. But I would recommend this spot either way!

That makes sense to why the drinks were quite stiff. I understand why many of the older guests chose to sit outside on the patio, where it was much quieter. Danielle was wonderful. Even though she was handling a large party, she remained attentive and checked on us regularly. Food-wise, it fell short for my Asian taste buds, which tend to prefer bolder and more layered flavors. For starters, we had the tartare, which was enjoyable and very flavorful. For the main entrées, we had the beef carpaccio, but it unfortunately missed the mark. The vegetables on top were visually appealing, but flavor-wise it lacked depth. It needed extra mint or perhaps to be wrapped in a sesame leaf to give it more bite and contrast. Next, we tried the lion meatball with veggie fried rice. The meatball was dry and had a grainy texture. It needed more fat in the blend for better richness. Pairing it with a baguette or even a savory donut stick would have added a nice contrast in texture and flavor. I'm usually not a fried rice person, but I kept eating it because it was the only dish I genuinely enjoyed and found well-seasoned. It wasn't the traditional wok-hei style fried rice; instead, it tasted fresher and lighter. I understand and appreciate the direction of the flavors and dishes, as they seem intentionally designed to be more subtle, calming, and approachable for American palates. However, from my perspective and personal preference as someone who enjoys stronger Asian flavors, it lacked the "wow" factor I was hoping for.

We ordered the following: * Bo Tai Chanh beef carpaccio (10/10) - best I've ever had * taro fries (10/10) - surprisingly a better version of regular fries! * chicken banh mi tacos (8.5/10) - it's a damn good taco, but I do wish it was pork since it was a bit dry * garlic noodles (6.5/10) - I'm sure it would be great, but all the other food outshined it * pork dish (7.5/10) - pretty good, nothing special, better than most places The service was great, we asked to move to a nicer table and our waiter assisted us. Overall, I'd highly recommend this place, as I don't generally rate places this high.

After removing all the fat from the sandwich I had what amounted to about 2oz of meat on the entire $14 sandwich. It's apparent from small things that the owners are being really cheap and trying to fool people into thinking the place is classy. All the ceramic plates had deep chips, they used plastic ramekins, served the fatty meat used for flavoring pho as roast beef, and the minuscule happy hour portions (I'm looking at you single spring roll cut in half with a squiggle of sauce!!!). I didn't go in expecting authentic flavors or a screaming deal, but it didn't expect to be blatantly ripped off and lied to. The bill showed up and they had decided taking $8 off the $14 French dip (That had more fat than meat) was acceptable despite telling me it wouldn't be on the bill. I tried to eat it but spent most of my time tearing big chunks of fat away from the tiny pieces of beef. I left half the sandwich, a pile of fat, and the over fried, stale taro fries on the plate. I guess the meager half sandwich I ate was worth $6 to them. Not

So glad they opened a Seapot in Sac so I can get my fix without going to the Bay Area now :) Came on a Saturday at 6pm for a party of 2 noting 30min wait on the Yelp waitlist but actually no one was waiting much in the front when we got in to checkin and we got seated right away (maybe people starting to add names to the waitlist for 7pm!). Opted for hotpot only which is imo my go-to here, but appreciate that the sauce/salad bar has some Chinese sides / Korean banchan to cut through the meat (e.g. seaweed salad, pickled radish, korean fishcake, pretty good cold marinated pigs ears). Fried sides at the bar such as the eggrolls we skipped after 1x bc they were quite soggy. I've been to basically all the norcal Seapot locations now, this one and San Mateo are probably my go-to based on the fact they both have the best soup selection. My partner likes the tomato broth and I like creamy milk (sweet, savory, w some corn), which is unfortunately not on the menu of the Daly City location. In terms of meats, we usually just keep a steady flow of beef (Angus, Wagyu, Ribeye, Brisket) coming and enjoy all of them. Our waiter was very attentive, worked a lot of tables and we never had to ask for more soda refills or meat orders. As we ate, the restaurant got more crowded for the 7pm weekend dinner rush so we watched waves of ppl starting to line up at the sauce/salad bar after initially being seated so we would wait for these to die down before walking up there. Meat took a little bit more time to come out when it got more busy after we ordered with our waiter, but was a steady flow as we ate. If you come with a 4+ people, it's most fun to sit close to the conveyor in the booth to have best access to the hotpot sides. Depending on where you are seated on the conveyor, you might need to wait for certain seafood or noodle sides longer than others. But luckily the meat comes separately to your table, which is the star of the show anyways. Overall love Seapot and it is a nice addition to Sac esp during the cold season!

Came here for dinner a couple of times, the first time I ordered the rainbow roll ($15) which is my barometer for sushi at restaurants. Decently sized, the fish was fresh and the roll was filling. Daughter ordered the ramen ($18) with the red option, which she enjoyed with the plethora of toppings. Dinner the second time, I got the teishoku set with salmon ($21). Two decently filets of salmon came with rice, miso soup, salad, deep fried egg roll and salad. You also get a choice of either croquette or chawanmushi. The chawanmushi was a highlight for me! I missed eating this savory custard when I used to live in Japan. Their version did not disappoint! This has spot has become a rotating staple for me and am looking forward to trying out more of their sushi rolls.

We ordered: Appetizers: Mixed Tempura 8/10 - wish it was a smidge flakier Grilled Squid 1000/10 - might just come back alone for this. Absolute perfection, no notes Mains: 18 piece Sashimi 10/10 - large slices, scallops were definitely the start- tho no higher rating due to no description on what was being served and slightly inconvenient design even though the presentation was pretty. Double Toro roll 8/10 - my date loved it, I'm just not a big roll fan Spicy scallop hand roll 9/10 - super delicious, scallops were fresh Unagi hand roll - 10/10 - I didn't even get to try it, my date loved it Tuna maki roll - 10/10 - simple, delicious We will definitely be coming back. I will say my only note is that we ordered the appetizers first and actually waited to order our mains in hopes that the appetizers would come out first. Instead my mains came out before the appetizers and then my dates came after the appetizers came out. Everything was delicious but I hope that isn't a common habit as it made the meal feel a bit rushed and the waitresses were commenting about how much we ordered and if we could eat it all... everyone was very nice though. A little cold in the actual restaurant but makes sense to keep the fish cold.

You pick your choice of protein, broth, and vegetables. I went with the spicy tonkotsu broth, pork belly, and broccoli. Adequate portion sizes for $20, and the myriad of different toppings makes for a pretty appearance. My approval starts to hit a roadblock when it comes to taste and texture. The pork belly tasted dry. Soaking it in the broth didn't help much. Additionally, the broth was decent but I expected more flavor. It tasted like a watered down version of an original, harder-hitting batch of broth. I wouldn't have minded a creamier consistency either. Creative selection, sub-par execution. With Origami's large menu and close proximity to my workplace, I imagine I might stumble back here eventually. I'm willing to give their non-ramen options a try.
