That crêpe was chock full of goodies!
    Alan C.

A Wonderful hidden gem, in the back of Butterfield Plaza. I tried eating at two other places, and neither worked out. I'm actually very glad for that, because when I found this place? The third time was. *DEFINITELY* the charm. It's just a nice simple place, nothing fancy. The menu is under the glass on your table. I was helped by Nhi, who was so very friendly. At the end of my meal, I mentioned to her that I'm going to Vietnam at the end of February. She asked where I was going, and gave me a couple of hints for a couple of places. That was very nice of her. I started with the Vietnamese crêpes. I didn't notice on the menu that it came with two of them. They came, and they were huge! The crêpes were crispy, and delicious. The shrimp were tender, and I liked the bean sprouts. It also came with extra veggies to put inside. Not knowing I would be getting so much food, at the same time, I also ordered the chicken and rice. Another total home run. The grilled chicken was tender, and it was just so absolutely flavorful. I added a soft boiled egg to the meal. And it provided that wonderful "yolk action" that I love, that drips down into the food. It came with a big portion of tender rice, and also more veggies on the side. Both the crêpes and the main dish came with the traditional Vietnamese condiment, nuoc Cham. Basically, water, sugar, lime juice, and fish sauce. Sweet with a little sour, and the fish sauce, gave it just the right amount of "funk" that I absolutely love. I had enough food to take one of the crêpes and half of my main Dish, Home, and for all of this food, it was roughly $30 before tip. An absolutely amazing price for such a high-quality and quantity of food. This place is absolutely a hidden gem, and I hope that they do very well here. I will absolutely be back. Thank you.

Secret sauce!! Ask for it for the pho!

Came here tonight and had a really solid experience overall. We started with the chicken fresh spring rolls, which were delicious and super fresh. The peanut sauce deserves a shout-out on its own - great flavor and consistency (not watery, not gluey). For mains, we ordered the P1 (small, build-your-own pho) with steak, tendon, and meatball, and the P4 Bun Bo Hue. The small pho was surprisingly filling - plenty of noodles and protein, and I left full. The broth was good, though for my personal taste it needed just a touch more seasoning. That said, the grilled onions on top were a really nice touch, and I absolutely loved that they had a proper bottle of nuoc mam out on the table. It's such an underrated condiment and when a Vietnamese restaurant doesn't offer it, I immediately start questioning the integrity - so points earned there. The Bun Bo Hue comes in a large size, and while the portion was generous, the broth leaned a bit sweeter than what I'm used to. The meats were also a touch fatty and long cooked for sure. I usually prefer Bun Bo Hue more savory, especially with a pork-based broth - but hey, there are many ways to shoe a horse, and flavor profiles vary. One thing I must mention: the secret sauce. It's a garlicky, flavorful concoction for the pho, and wow - I should've used it from the start. If you're ordering pho, ask for the secret sauce. It's free and it seriously makes the soup pop. The restaurant itself was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, with attentive and kind service. Parking was easy, which is always a win in Sacramento. All in all, a pleasant dining experience with thoughtful details and good execution.

The place was pretty empty on a Saturday afternoon. Lots of tables available. I ordered the make your own combo beef pho. The soup lacked flavor and could've used more seasoning. The beef balls and rare steak were fine, not dry, but the brisket was tough and dry. I think it's nice that the menu has a vegetarian section. Our server was nice and asked which side veggies we needed to avoid waste :). This would be a good place to go to for late night, they are open until midnight!

Lunch brought me to a hidden gem today .. First impression walking into the restaurant, it was quiet and barely any patrons. 2 other tables beside ours. Restaurant was too quiet. Needed some maybe light background music would be nice. I love that the menu was placed under the glass table in front of you so no need to touch any menu to look and order! Only one lady was working and she was pleasant and nice. I ordered the chicken wings and a side of steamed rice with a Vietnamese coffee. My husband ordered a bowl of chicken pho and a banh mi (sorry I forgot to take a pic of his pho) My order of chicken wings was flavorful and delicious! What I was wanting so it hit the spot! I ate that with the steam rice which was deliciously fluffy and not dry. My Vietnamese coffee was good but I felt like it was a little bland. It needed more coffee flavor. It was more bland and milky My husband was shocked the chicken pho broth was actually delicious! And that's big coming from him. He always critics every pho broth as ehhhh he rather eat the pho I cook so for him to be surprised it's actually good.. that's 5 star in itself. He also said the Banh mi was really good too. Overall I would definitely come back because I want to try their bun bo hue next. Come try them out.. they're a bit tucked behind some buildings but their food is actually really good.

The last time I was here, this was a Chinese restaurant. They have cleared the space and made it brighter. The dining area is large - table and chair seating on the main floor and booths around the entire perimeter. Open until midnight was a selling point for me. I arrived around 9:45 and there were a nice group of people there being served and eating. The menu has many offerings among appetizers, Pho, Vermicelli, Rice, and Vegetarian dishes. I ordered the vermicelli with chicken to go. There was a good amount of herbs/greens and fresh vegetable and a sufficient amount of fish sauce to dress everything with. I was a happy camper. This is my second visit after coming here last week. I wanted to try their Banh Mi (pork) and again, am taking out. The sandwich had the great crispy French bread and was full of very flavorful and tender pork. Cucumbers, carrots and greens completed the sandwich. It was not bad but I wanted some other choices that could be added to the sandwich. I would have liked to add some pate to the sandwich. I think I'll look for a Banh Mi shop when I want a Bahn Mi in the future - not that this wasn't a good one but I wanted something a bit more. This is a good place for a meal Or a snack. Open until midnight is great and a definite selling point. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Check it out.

Pho Viet Anh was a pretty lukewarm experience over all. The service was pretty much non existent. Had to get up to ask for more water. The restaurant was dead except for one other party. The restaurant space is very nice and clean. The menu under the glass top is clever. I got the salad rolls. The lettuce was a detractor with the spine of the lettuce still in there. Made it crunchier than desired. The peanut sauce was fantastic however. The pho was ok. I like that the broth is pretty light. The big pieces of onion were a bit off putting and the sprouts were a bit soft. My bowl was also not exactly clean on the outside. You can see from the picture. Overall, there are better options but for late nights; this might be one of the better ones. I originally came for bahn mi and they didn't have any baguettes. Now if they only they would come by asking me if I need anything else so I can get a to go box for these salad rolls...

    Bun bo hue
    Hin Vy N.

Pho and spring rolls were great especially the spring rolls. The peanut sauce was excellent, and the shrimp paste was consistently good. However, the Bun Bo Hue is not, which was a lil disappointed since I was very excited to eat it. I couldn't taste the any Bun Bo Hue flavor at all. There was no noticeable lemongrass in the soup. I was also expecting "cha lua" or pork blood, but neither was included. Additionally, the vegetables were cooked directly in the soup. Usually, shredded cabbage should be served on the side. Cooking it in the broth made it soggy. Overall the experience is okay. Hopefully they change the recipe for the BBH. Will come back to try it another day.

There was barely any meat on the bones. The flavor was good, but I missed the meat.

I ordered the Five Spiced Chicken Wings and the Vermicelli with all beef, no shrimp. The chicken wings were interesting. The one thing I like about the Vermicelli at most Pho places is that there are different temperature foods in the bowl. This was not achieved here in this bowl. Everything was warm, the lettuce, sprouts, cucumber, picked carrots yeah, ALL warm. I will say I like how the menu's are under the plexiglass atop the table. Never have to worry about dirty menus! Lol I like how open the restaurant is. They offer discounts for Military and Sac State students. The restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is nice and clean. The food gets 3 stars Service 3 stars I probably won't return.

Pho with Beef balls, tripe and Brisket
    Lisa C.

Pho broth is a little bit on the salty side with not much of the pho herb flavors, and the noodles were softer than I'd like. However, the brisket was surprisingly good as most pho places don't give out actual chunks of brisket. I like the chili oil and the fried onions on top.

    Pho (Steak and tripes)

Amazing selection of Vietnamese cuisines, the price is super affordable compared to PNW! Pho is delicious and there steak is super tender Our server is kind and very attentive, it's great that they're still energetic at the end of the day! Love to support local businesses, had to leave a review cause they just deal with a group of rude people (yes, we heard all of the conversations, get better)

More of a 2.8/5. Ordered Pho combination, Pork rice plate, and chicken wings. Pho was plain and salty. I wouldn't call the large bowl a large. Its definitely a median size bowl. I was confused because the broth didn't have a beef flavor. Not too much meat and noodle. Pork on the rice plate was burnt. It reaped of a burnt smell the moment it hit the table. I knew it was burnt. Chicken wings was good. Might just need a little more sauce. I've seen so many comments in the past that said this place is better than the pho restaurant on the same block. Thats definitely a lie. I wouldn't come back. Big and clean restaurant.

Pho Momma isn't open as late, and I was meeting friends on a Monday night for dinner. Looking at Yelp, we found Pho Viet Anh was open until midnight and also in the Folsom/Bradshaw area. You won't find us in Little Saigon after dark, but to satisfy Vietnamese cravings, this wasn't bad! It is hidden in the back corner of Butterfield Plaza (you can see Doma Korean from the main road) though, and was broken into recently so their main entrance door is boarded. Counter by the kitchen, bathroom on the opposite rear. Big space, tables and cushioned booths, and several TVs with cartoons or music videos/YouTube playing (Adele, Bruno Mars, Dua Lipa, Gotye, Ed Sheeran, etc.). Printed menus under the table glass, and QR codes to scan as well. I noticed that the paper menu did not exactly match the online menu (P4. Bun bo hue was on hard copy but not digital). They also have rice bowls, banh mi, banh xeo, rice vermicelli, vegetarian, "home cooking" beef stew or lemongrass noodles or laap salad, and beverages. We shared one order (4 rolls) of the goi cuon spring rolls with shrimp, and these were pretty good, not overly minty. The noodles were still warm and some of the wrappers broke but that was fine. I didn't see if there was cilantro. The peanut sauce was also not too runny or flat, the shrimp was ok. One person got the iced Vietnamese coffee (they were out of the salted coffee foam). This was a very neat presentation and very strong stuff! One person ordered the P1 Pho (beef rice noodle soup) combination which had combination (steak, tripe, beef meatball, brisket, tendon), no onion. Garnish provided was beansprouts, basil, romaine, jalapeno, lime, perilla and of course sriracha, hoisin, chili, and whatnot. Takeout wooden chopsticks, real forks, plastic soup spoons, and napkins also provided. I got the P4 Bun bo hue soup. The waiter was patient as we were deciding, and assured me it wasn't too spicy, which turned out to be true. The bun bo hue also uses a different thicker, cylindrical more tubular noodle than the pho rice flat noodle. I've seen this dish at other places with the pork blood, but not here. Here though, they did have sliced beef, pork sausage with peppercorn, and pork knuckles! Fried onions on top too. I am curious about their combination pho for next time. Their bowls only come in either size Small or Large, except the bun bo hue was one-size. They don't do bun rieu here.

Despite there being endless selections in Sacramento sometimes the American Chinese options are .... bleh ... They are either too oily. Mediocre taste. Overpriced. One of my coworkers was the one who recommended this spot. Let me just say the food was incredible. The seafood chow mein was the standout dish out of everything. Loaded with octopus tentacles, scallops, shrimp. Feel like half the time you get seafood options these days they skimp out but this place did not disappoint. The fried rice was a little more unique than I've personally tried before with pieces of beef and cabbage. But still very tasty. And the pork dishes we got including the sweet and sour were just incredible. One thing I do want to mention was some pieces of the pork did have a bone attached, but I honestly didn't mind it much. The broth has a slightly fermented, deeply umami flavor, probably from fish sauce, along with lemongrass, chicken broth, chicken breast, and ginger. Perfect when you're stuck with a cold. It was packaged really well with chili oil, jalapeños, celery, lime, and the noodles on the side. There isn't a ton of chicken if you're looking for high protein, but I didn't care. It was so good and soothing. Nothing like sweating over a bowl of herbal soup while sick. I also ordered the Lao sausage, which has a great blend of aromatics, especially lemongrass. It comes with a sauce I'm not totally familiar with, but it's bright and limey, likely fish-sauce based, with something like charred pepper or tomato that almost reminds me of a Mexican salsa. So good. This place is awesome. I've only ever gotten soups here, but I definitely need to branch out and try more of the menu. Prices are very fair too. The soup alone was just under 1.5 liters so great bang for your buck.

I've enjoyed dine in and take out options from them, and while dining in will give you the freshest flavor and best presentation, they do such a good job packaging the food for takeout so nothing spills and everything tastes good with takeout too. The family that runs the restaurant is very friendly and I'm always greeted when I arrive. There's a good amount of seating available and they can accommodate small and larger groups. It's a great spot for a family dinner or meeting up with friends and I would recommend sharing family style so you can enjoy more dishes. Everything is delicious here, I would recommend checking out their specials to see if there's anything that catches your eye. I typically order the boat noodles, Pipo Tom Yum Seafood ramen, or curries. I ordered the pad thai on my last visit to try something new and it was also delicious. There's plenty of parking available outside, so it's a great spot to stop if you're looking for a quick bite or a nice sit down meal.

Food was delicious and everything was flavored well - love the sauce pairings. Originally I thought the root was more like veggie tempura but is actually more of a fritter with a sauce. Very crispy. The Hai Yai Fried Chicken has a nice crispy outer skin, cuts really well - meat melts away from the bones, and the fat portion taste really good. The main con I want to call out here is based off how it cuts I thought the chicken meat inside would be very juicy - but is actually kind of dry. So docking points for the inside chicken meat portion. Really love the pandan sago coconut ice cream tho. Ice cream has actual coconut meat in it and the salted coconut sauce on the outside nicely balance the sweetness of the ice cream. Will come again if in town.
