A true quality mom and pop store. It is my favorite place to get pho in the Sacramento area. I've been coming here since they first opened and still go regularly. The food quality has been consistently excellent and hasn't changed at all since I started coming. The service is always excellent - all the staff tries their best and helps you quickly despite it being extremely busy. It is busy, but that is good - it means that everyone loves the food and you get fresh ingredients because of the higher turnover. I prefer their thin cuts of meat over thicker cuts and is much more tender than places that offer the big rectangular chunks. The broth is tasty as well. Sometimes if I bring friends I'll pick up some chicken or spring rolls which are great as well. The owners are great too - I see them coming out when they have time to greet some of the customers. They definitely appreciate all their customers and I'm very happy they are doing well. They post on instagram so you can check their hours or if there are any time changes. Pho Momma is very deserving of the bib gourmand award. The mobile internet was a bit spotty in the area, but if you have xfinity you can connect there, otherwise AT&T is slow. read more

I've been craving lemongrass chicken and decided to try a new pho spot. We came across Pho Momma while driving back home, and I'm so glad we decided to give it a try! What a fantastic little place! I will say, it gets super busy around lunchtime, so I recommend going when they first open if you want to beat the crowd. The inside is on the smaller side but very clean, and the customer service was great. I ordered my food to go, and it was ready pretty quickly. I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety of vegan options they offer. They even have vegan drinks, which I know will make the vegan lovers happy! Now, let's talk about the food. My lemongrass chicken was absolutely delicious! It definitely satisfied my craving. One thing to keep in mind is that parking is limited, so finding a spot may be a little harder if you come during the busy hours. I can't wait to come back and actually sit down and dine next time. 07.16.2026 - PHO MOMMA - Sacramento, CA I've been wanting to try Pho Momma for months, and today was finally the day. I happened to be in the area picking up some paperwork, so it was the perfect excuse to stop in. My first impression was excellent. The restaurant was clean, welcoming, and comfortably busy--a great sign that people genuinely enjoy the food here. After being seated, I was greeted with a refreshing glass of ice water and a nicely laminated menu. The menu was straightforward and well-organized--not too overwhelming, yet with plenty of delicious options to choose from. I already knew what I wanted: pho and spring rolls. I ordered the Pork Sausage with Crispy Layers Spring Roll along with the #1 Pho (lean beef, flank, brisket, fat brisket, tripe, and tendon in a small bowl). Before leaving, I also ordered a Half & Half Pork and Shrimp Egg Rolls to take home. The Pork Sausage with Crispy Layers Spring Roll completely exceeded my expectations. I've never had anything quite like it. At first glance it looks like a traditional fresh spring roll, but hidden inside is an incredibly crispy layer that gives it an amazing texture. The contrast between the cool, fresh vegetables and the warm crispy center was absolutely delicious. It reminded me of the same satisfying contrast I experience when eating Japanese zaru soba with freshly fried shrimp tempura--the combination of cool and warm, soft and crispy, all in one bite. It was refreshing, unique, and incredibly satisfying. The pho was equally impressive. The broth was rich, flavorful, and comforting while still tasting clean and fresh. It didn't have that overly reduced or day-old taste that some pho broths develop after sitting too long. Instead, every sip tasted balanced and well-crafted. The broth was so good that I drank nearly half of it before even thinking about adding hoisin sauce. Out of curiosity, I added some midway through the meal, but honestly, it didn't need it. The broth stood perfectly well on its own. The basil, bean sprouts, and lime were perfectly portioned and complemented the soup beautifully. The bowl was so satisfying that I finished every last drop of the pho and still couldn't finish the spring roll. Later that evening, I tried the shrimp egg roll I had ordered to go, and it was another pleasant surprise. I've had firecracker shrimp before, but this was something different: shrimp and perfectly seasoned vermicelli noodles wrapped in a crisp shell, creating a flavorful, memorable bite. Every dish I tried offered something unique, and each one exceeded my expectations. Final Thoughts: Pho Momma absolutely lived up to the hype. From the welcoming atmosphere to the creative appetizers and exceptional pho, this was one of the most enjoyable Vietnamese dining experiences I've had in Sacramento. We stopped by before 5 pm on a Thursday and most tables were full. They are busy even on off hours. We were able to be sat right away. This was our second visit. The service is fast and efficient. We ordered the 5 piece wontons in hot chili oil, salt and pepper tofu and #4 pho. The pho was the star of the meal, the broth was bright, flavorful, so delicate. The wonton were good and the oil was tasty but I will not order it again. The tofu was breaded and served in strip form, it tasted of breading more than tofu. Came on a Saturday, about a 30 minute wait for a table of 2. Plenty of menu options and great spritzers, I've never had spring rolls with the egg roll inside. I was very pleased about that! I got a green Thai tea, less sweet since I feel they are way too sugary when I order out, and the drink was somewhat bitter but I was able to drink it. The wontons were perfect, nothing they could've done better! The hopes I had for this pho was to the moon and stars, a Michelin star SEA with affordable prices? Hell yeah! The beef pho #3 was so underwhelming.... The broth was much lighter than I expected and I did add garnishments to doctor up the pho but if the broth isn't flavorful and hearty from the first sip then it's not a win in my book. Okay, okay... so I can why this place is popular the Pho here is pretty good. I met up with a girlfriend of mine for lunch and Pho Momma was the perfect spot because she loves Viet food too! First and foremost, y'all know I had to try the bone marrow toast and of course, a hot bowl of fresh pho. So as far as the Bone Marrow Toast, if I'm being completely honest it's not all that and a bag of chips, sorry not sorry. I have had much better bone marrow at other spots and even at my house homemade. The crostini bread that the marrow is spread over, was also stale in my opinion. Quite disappointing about the bone marrow especially because everyone talks about it like its the best thing since sliced bread. Otherwise, the pho here is pretty good and the customer service is legit. The service and food were pretty good. I ordered a small #1 pho and egg rolls. The pho was solid, good broth and tons of noodles. The meat quality was pretty good, but there wasn't that much meat, and the tendon was not cooked long enough. It was a bit crunchy. Pho Momma earned a spot in the 2025 Michelin Guide, and maybe it deserved it back then - but in June of 2026, the quality here is below the typical pho spot anywhere in Sacramento. TL;DR: Do NOT order anything extra. They'll charge you for it without telling you and only slip it onto the check after the fact. And the owners are possibly racist, homophobic, or both - based on what her husband screamed at me on my way out for no reason at all: "We don't need people like you here." I walked in on a Saturday night, two hours before closing. Not busy, no line. I got seated right away - well, the waitress (who I later found out was the owner) pointed at a booth. The booth was dirty. Crumbs, spilled fish sauce, half-eaten strands of vermicelli all over the table. I asked the owner if she could wipe it down. She said "Oh wow, sorry," then delivered drinks to a few other tables and left me at the dirty table for another five minutes before coming back to clean it. There were plenty of empty, clean booths - it was NOT busy. Any one of them would've been fine. The menus were dirty and sticky too. I let it go, figured I'd just wash my hands after ordering. We ordered the crispy pork sausage spring rolls, one order of pork egg rolls ($12, per the menu), two Thai teas, and two lemongrass vermicelli. Then I went to the restroom - toilet paper all over the floor, sink area filthy. The waiter brought out two orders of egg rolls - he'd misheard me and didn't even know the price - but he owned it and took the extra back. No harm there. The food was a letdown. The lemongrass vermicelli was a mountain of noodles, an OK amount of bland chicken, and barely any vegetables. No texture, no flavor, no spice. This was not Vietnamese cooking - it was lazy. I wouldn't order it again. So I tried to salvage it and asked for some extra veggies to fix the texture. Here's the problem. The dish already comes with salad mix - it says so on their own menu. Nobody told me extra veggies would cost anything. We got the bill, it wasn't on there, and then the waitress came back, said "I'm just going to update the check real quick," and added a $2.50 "extra veggies" charge after the fact. Now look at their menu (photo attached). They have a whole "Additional Add-ons" section, and the ONLY veggie add-on listed is garnish/beansprouts at $0.50 to $1 - not $2.50. So they charged me up to five times the only veggie price they actually print, for something they never disclosed. And on the receipt it's typed in lowercase as "extra veggie" while every real menu item is capitalized - you can tell it was punched in by hand. I asked the waiter to take it off since nobody told me it'd be a charge. He refused. I asked to talk up front so I wouldn't bother other tables, and asked for a manager - out came the owner, the same woman who'd sat me at the filthy booth. I asked her to remove the $2.50. She refused, said people ask for extras all day so they have to charge, and that she considered this a "side salad" - even though there's no side salad at that price on the menu. I said, "That's fine, but you have to disclose it first." She told me it was on the menu. It is not (see the photo). I told her no restaurant in Little Saigon charges for a few extra veggies without telling you up front. She refused again. I paid, told her I'd leave a bad review and no tip and wouldn't be back - all over $2.50 she could've just removed. She asked what the review would even be about. I listed it: the dirty table, dirty menus, dirty bathroom, the undisclosed charge, and her refusal to reason with a customer making a fair point. She went quiet. As I walked back to grab my things, she kept talking, but the music was so loud I genuinely couldn't hear her, so I said "Sorry, I can't hear you over the music." That's when her husband SCREAMED across the entire restaurant: "GET OUT RIGHT NOW!" I said, "I'm already leaving, and I won't be back." And he screamed, "WE DON'T NEED PEOPLE LIKE YOU HERE!" People like me? I was respectful and calm the whole time. I never cursed, never raised my voice, I just pointed out facts. So what did he mean? Because I pushed back on an undisclosed charge? Because my partner and I are LGBTQ+ and sat next to each other? Because I'm Black? I have no idea why he said it, but if you're Black or LGBTQ, I'd think twice... Either way, screaming that across a full dining room, at a customer who simply said he wouldn't return, is unhinged. No competent owner does that. Here's the kicker: Pho Momma's 2025 Michelin recognition is a Bib Gourmand - which is specifically the award for good value. A restaurant honored for value nickel-and-dimed me $2.50 for veggies they never disclosed, then had its owner scream me out the door. Is that what Michelin recognition looks like? Absolutely not. If you're Black or LGBTQ, I'd genuinely reconsider eating here and save yourself the possible discrimination. Go to Pho Xe Lua, Pho Saigon, or honestly any other pho spot in town. read more

I know I'm a bit late in trying Pho Momma. When I heard they made it in MICHELIN Guide Restaurant list, I called my dear Vietnamese friend and schedule a lunch date right away. We probably came here at the busiest time on Saturday at around 1:30 pm. They don't take reservation and it's a small restaurant. The wait was about 15-20 minutes but gave us time to look at the menu. By the time we sat down, we knew exactly what we want. Obviously, we have to order the Pho. We got the lean beef, flank, brisket. The long-simmered broth is excellent and very flavorful. The ingredients are fresh. Most importantly, approved by my Vietnamese friend. We also try the Momma's Garlic Noodles and Beef Marrow Toast from Momma's Specials section. I would skip the toast. I expected it to be on a nice toasted baguette instead of a regular slice of bread. The beef was good and I never pass on beef marrow or bone marrow whenever I see it on the menu. The Garlic Noodles was savory but the spotlight is still on the Pho. I was drooling over the picture of Pork Sausage with crispy layers spring roll and had to get it. It was so darn good and I'm getting my veggies in for the day. They also have a good beverage menu with Vietnamese coffee, shakes, sweet teas and milk teas. Quick service because they want to be able to serve more waiting customers. This is not the place to have a relaxing chatty lunch/meal. It's eat and go unless you come at a less busy time. We had a nice meal and worth the hype. read more

I had the chance to try out Pho Momma for the first time for dinner. Thanks to reading the Yelp reviews I knew that there were no reservations so we arrived early, around 5:30 PM. We were pleasantly surprised to not have to wait for very long, just a few minutes. The restaurant is on the small side so getting there early is definitely recommended. The service was friendly and attentive. I appreciate that the menu reminded diners to let the staff know about any allergies. The food did not take long to come out after ordering. The beef stew noodle soup was pleasantly spicy and flavorful. The shrimp eggroll was overly fried and hard to bite into. The regular egg rolls were tasty, but did not particularly stand out from other Vietnamese, eggrolls we have had. The Pho with beef balls was fine but not better than other Pho places we have tried. The garlic noodles were average in terms of flavor but the chicken that came with it did not have much seasoning. The curry vermicelli noodles with tofu dish did not work for me. The curry was bland. The dish came with pickled vegetables and lettuce with a side of what tasted like a typical fish sauce/vinegar dipping sauce. Portion sizes were good. Parking was plentiful. 3rd times the charm! My girlfriends and I FINALLY made it into this famous pho haven here in Sacramento! And it was my FIRST TIME! 01/24/26 This place gets super busy! I attempted to come twice before and it way too busy and there was a wait outside and the place is small compared to other pho locations which are generally bigger in space and capacity. Ambience is nice chill and very homey! The people working there are VERY NICE AND ATTENTIVE! My girlfriends were able to secure a nice big booth while I was still enroute. Imma keep it real, EVERYTHING WE TRIED WAS GOOD! I had water, my girls got Thai Green Tea and Mango Milk and they loved it! I got a Mocha latte to go and it was BOMB! Nice and strong! And I believe the owner came gave it to me, she was soooo nice! Appetizers we got the sweet garlic chicken wings, so crispy and flavorful, fried to perfection. Crispy pork spring rolls were fresh and every bite you get a nice crunch! I ordered a small flank pho with steamed pork wontons with added Napa cabbage and carrots! Their picked jalapeños have a good kick! The small was a perfect size! Perfect for a cold day! And I was able to finish it all for once! I have a lot more to conquer on the menu next time! I had an unpleasant experience the last time I was here, but based on all of the wonderful reviews, I wanted to give the place another try. I'm glad I did. This restaurant received a Michelin bib gourmand, which recognizes high-quality food at a great value. This award is one step below a Michelin star. I walked in at 1:30 PM on a Thursday. The place was still busy, but there were a few tables left. The space is relatively small. I was seated right away. Everybody was friendly. I decided to start with the meat marrow toast. It was a-mazing! There was some finely shredded meat mixed in with the bone marrow, but I didn't mind it at all, because it added a little bit of texture. It was so rich, and yet savory at the same time. They gave me six generous pieces. How they could do that for only $10, I have no idea.... For $13, I ordered a small number 1 pho with everything. It came with lime, bean, sprouts and mint, the usual fixin's. It was beyond amazing. The broth was rich and flavorful, the noodles were just the right texture, and the meats were melt in your mouth tender. Even the fatty meats were not overly fatty. Just enough to add some flavor. For a small, it didn't look very big, but was an extremely generous portion. I saw somebody order a large, and that thing was *HUGE!*. I waddled out the door stuffed, and beyond satisfied. I'm glad I came, this place definitely lives up to the hype. If I came again, and the place was extremely busy, the next time I would just do to go order and take my food home. I was extremely happy with my visit, and I will be back. Thank you! UPDATE: I had such a good meal yesterday, I came back today to try a couple of different things on the menu. It was even better than yesterday, if that is possible. It was at 1:30 on a Friday, and again, I got right in. I started out with the sausage/shrimp spring rolls. They are also known as fresh rolls. They were so amazing. The rice paper and veggies gave it a wonderful freshness that cut the richness of the proteins, and the shrimp and the sausage played very well together. The peanut dipping sauce was savory with just a tiny bit of a "zip" to it. Just enough that I noticed that it was there. I also had the garlic noodles, and I had to have them with that meat marrow again. OMG, the faces I must've been making while I ate that. It was beyond amazing. The noodles were the perfect texture, that meat marrow was again, both rich and savory, it has become my favorite item at this restaurant. You could smell the garlic when they brought the food, and it kept the Dish from being too rich. It was just the right combination. I also had a jasmine hot tea, which was very good, and I had enough of the spring rolls and the garlic noodles to take home for a second meal. I'm from out of town and my people brought me here because Pho Momma received the Michelin Bib Gourmand for great value and quality. I mean the meal was affordable and the pho was good. But to be honest, nothing on their menu stood out. In my opinion the broth wasn't deep and savory enough for my taste. Dressing up the soup with the condiments helped a lot. I really don't care about awards and etc. I love hole in the wall spots because it's all about the food for me. Pho Momma for me was just another random pho shop out of the many in Sac for me. All the Hype of Pho Momma! I heard Pho mamma was so good and it received a Michelin star mention, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about. We came for lunch on a Saturday, parking was fine, parking lot was small, and there was a wait, had to wait roughly 15-20 minutes. Also this spot is only open Thursday-Sunday from 11:00-8:30! Inside was pretty crowded, decor is nothing special but it does get busy! This spot serves drinks such as boba and Vietnamese coffee. I was excited to try the pho, I got a combo large or #1!The combo included lean beef, flank, brisket, tripe and tendon! We also ordered a #3 which is lean beef and brisket, and a Beef Stew egg noodle! My large #1 wasn't so large to me! Honestly, it needed more meat, I was still hungry, needed more tendon, more tripe, more beef! Also, noodles were overcooked! And the broth, the broth was the MOST disappointing, broth had good flavor BUT it was tooooo fatty, you can taste and feel the fat and grease when you swallow the broth, which is not a good thing..... The #3 had the same issue, broth tasted fatty and greasy. Noodles overcooked.... The e beef stew egg noodle was okay, slight spicy flavor but the noodles was the biggest bust, it was the flat egg noodle and not the skinny egg noodle.... They only had one option. Boba- blah.... Tasted artificial, the lychee boba was too icy with no lychee flavor, also got a strawberry shake, tasted like powder, Vietnamese coffee was flat.... Honestly, this spot was a huge disappointment, maybe it was an off day for them, but we were not impressed whatsoever. I wouldn't call this my favorite pho spot, but it's definitely worth checking out! I loved all of their dishes they had that weren't pho. The crab wontons, in particular, was their standout item to me during our trip here. I liked that you could actually taste a bit of the crab in there-- a lot of restaurants skimp out and mostly fill it with the cream cheese mixture. The spring rolls honestly surprised me as well, and I'm glad that we ordered these! The sauce that comes with it pairs perfectly with it. The pho was good, just not my favorite. Even after adding condiments, I felt like the broth was still lacking in flavor. However, I enjoyed all the meats they provided in it. I'd recommend eating this right away, because once the noodles get too soft and mushy, it's not enjoyable anymore. The service here was amazing, considering we ordered these crab wontons based on our waiter's recommendation. I ordered the small #1 ($13), and we ended up getting more items to share like the pork sausage with crispy layers spring rolls ($13), the crab cream cheese wontons ($9 for 8 pieces), and chili oil wontons ($9 for 8 pieces). All of the food was so flavorful and made with fresh ingredients. You can tell there's care put into each menu item, the ingredients, and the presentation. The only thing bad about Pho Momma is the wait time. This unassuming restaurant in a La Riviera strip-mall won a nod from Michelin with a Bib Gourmand, which means great value and quality. And they deserve it. I've been here many times and am happy that they maintain the separate vegan menu (ask for it) which hits all the high notes: *Veggie Pho loaded with tofu and all of the fixings. A medium could easily serve two people *Vermicelli Bowls with several add-ins to choose from *Spring Rolls that are loaded with tofu and topped with peanut sauce and spicy mayo. We were looking for some food on the way to Tahoe and saw this Michelin Guide spot on the map so we decided to give it a try. Service was interesting...they were on the slower side to get us our food, but were quick to place the bill down when they're was no one waiting for a table nor was it closing time. We were maybe halfway through our food, but this is just more of a pet peeve. We ordered the classic beef pho and the beef stew. The beef stew had a very tangy and gingery flavor to it that isn't common with beef stews I've had in the past. The beef pho was average. The kicker was definitely the fish sauce chicken wings. Took maybe around 20-25mins for us to get a table. Service overall was decent and they were efficient! Prices are okay...comparatively to the Bay Area, they were decently priced. But maybe in Sac, it would be considered a bit high. Ambiance was overall clean, modern and simplistic. They have a few tables for 2 seats and a majority are for 4+ groups/families.There was seating on the inside for waiting as well. I ordered: 1) #1 Pho(Medium) - w/Rare Beef(6.6/10) - It was a decent bowl of pho. The beef was rare like I asked, but the soup was just warm when me and my friend received our bowls....a bit disappointing. This was before I threw in the garnishes of bean sprouts, basil, jalapenos. The soup was decent - it was clear broth with beef umami throughout, without being too oily or murky. The noodles were cooked perfectly. But overall, it didn't wow me....it was just a decent bowl of pho....just wish it came to us hot instead. The stainless steel bowls were cool...more of a gimmick I guess. There was a decent amount of beef toppings and garnishes. 2) Vietnamese Iced Coffee(Regular)(5.5/10) - A bit weaker than the usual Vietnamese iced coffee that I like. I liked that they used crushed iced instead of regular ice, which doesn't dilute the coffee as much. The evaporated milk was more forward in this drink for me. In this unassuming restaurant that doesn't take reservations, you'll find some delicious eats! Diners Tip: go with an odd hour, but regardless of when you go, be prepared to wait for a table. Large of the group the longer the wait. There's a sign in sheet when you walk in. We ordered what felt like everything on the menu, and we would definitely do it again. Service is rather spotty, but it's because the places really small inside and most of the staff seems to be working in the kitchen with only one or two people on the floor. Just go with it. Spring rolls: they are fresh, they are tasty, they just need to come with more dipping sauce. Nothing out of the ordinary just a tasty bite. Egg rolls: perfectly crispy, perfectly delicious, and filled with tasty meat and veggies. I could make these into a meal just by themselves. Chili wontons: yes please! These wontons are incredibly perfect. They are light, filled with a perfect amount of meat, and the chili sauce was so tasty. How is it possible to have yet? Another tasty bite at the same restaurant?! It's possible!! You want these! Chicken wings: these make me wanna cry. The fry on these were light and crispy, the meat just like the outer part of the chicken, nicely seasoned, I absolutely will be going back to have these all over again. The pho: the reason why everyone stands in line. I love the fact that the bowl was filled with so many wonderful different ingredients. This is my least favorite dish. I didn't really care for the broth. It wasn't as deep and rich as I wanted it to be, and I just needed to have frankly more flavor. First time here and definitely will be back. Small hole in the wall little place. Very easy to miss but the food did not miss at all! Ordered the small pho with lean beef and the portion was still very generous. The meat and broth were so delicious. With a splash of the chili oil it was perfect. Finished it all and that normally doesn't happen for me. I like that they have various size options for their pho. Also, the staff was just standing around at the front with a packed restaurant. We waited about 15 minutes since there was three parties ahead of us and it was a packed house so we waited outside. Once we got seated, the menu was pretty straight forward. Everyone in our party knew we were going to get Pho since it's part of the name, we just have to tried the pho. There's different size, depending on how hungry you are. I personally ordered #1 size Medium with everything. Pho - Our order came out pretty quick with the amount of guests in the restaurant, which was great for services. However, when I taste the broth, it wasn't piping hot like how other pho places in Sac. It was just hot-warm. You know if a pho is hot, when it can cook the veggies. When it doesn't cook your veggies, then it's not hot enough, but that's my preferences. Also, the broth was flavorful salty, and didn't have much bone flavor that typically in pho. When I say the pho is flavorful, it is flavorful but not from the beef bones. Overall, it was too salty for me and didn't live up the hype or the drive/wait for this bowl of pho. After all the hype on social media, I had to visit this place! I've been there twice and both times there has been a line. You write your name on a list and they will call you when the table is ready. The second time I went (on a Thursday evening) we had to wait outside as the restaurant has limited waiting area. The restaurant is nicely decorated. The service was okay the first time and better the second time. The second time we went out Pho took a very long time to come out. The Pho was good. I really like that they have different size options, starting with an x-small, which is plenty for me! My favorite appetizer was the shrimp Egg roll.
