Came here in a party of 3 on a Saturday morning. There was a tablet for the waitlist, but we were seated immediately. Ordered: - green thai tea: not too sweet! - coconut coffee: very thick and filling, more like a dessert than something you drink on the side - banh mi chao: yum, meatball was my fav, beef could be more tender though - banh khot: standard, could be crispier though - shaking beef: loved the rice that came with it and was a good portion Overall, food and service was quick. Wasn't too busy on a Saturday morning, so it was easy to get staff attention if we needed anything. Very casual and you pay at the front, great prices too.
Saigon Oi is known for its specialty Vietnamese menu items, such as Banh Mi Chao (aka Bo Ne), Banh Khot (savory mini pancakes with shrimp), and Banh Canh Cua (crab meat udon soup). The restaurant is very popular on weekends and offers weekend specials. Some entrees are only offered weekdays, like Banh Xeo (large savory pancake or crepe), and others, like Com Do Beef Steak (ribeye or rib eye steak with red rice), are only offered on weekends. If you saw a delicious picture of something you wanted to eat, you might want to read reviews or call to check. Note: The restaurant is open 10 AM to 5 PM, so it's more of a brunch, lunch, after school, and early dinner restaurant. CLOSED ON WEDNESDAYS. Restaurant has 19 tables. Bossa Nova lounge music or easy listening music was playing and giving off beach vibes. Think of the song "The Girl From Ipanema." I went on a weekday. The server let me choose and sit at any empty table. He was kind and helpful to answer all my foodie questions throughout my visit. To help me choose what one entree to order, he first asked me if I preferred beef or chicken. If beef, choose Banh Mi Chao or Com Do Bo Luc Lac (Shaking Beef). If chicken, choose Com Do Ga Quay (Roasted Chicken with Red Rice). The Banh Mi Chao comes with filet mignon chunks, a pork meatball, a slice of pork roll, 2 eggs, pate made out of pork liver, 2 baby tomatoes, onions, and a cilantro sprig. A toasted bread roll accompanies it. You get Sweet Soy Sauce to adjust the Banh Mi Chao to taste. It's made with chilis and a little sugar. I don't think it's necessary given the dish is plenty flavorful. You can ask to customize the Banh Mi Chao if you don't want one or more of the ingredients. Some customers only want the steak and eggs and maybe the pork roll. I liked the pork meatball and might skip the pork roll, which is similar in texture to a fish ball. The pate has a rich, gamey flavor: You can taste the liver. I didn't know that pate is traditionally made of liver until the server told me. Although I thought the bread was too dry, I needed it, as well as my water and Coconut Coffee, to balance the saltiness of the entree. I think I would prefer the bread untoasted or more lightly toasted, which would require you to wait longer for that to be made to order. The Coconut Coffee was recommended by several Yelp reviewers. Vietnamese Coffee is strong, so make sure to stir or gently shake your drink before drinking it. Creamy, coconutty, and right amount of sweetness. During my meal, my server checked on me once to see if I was enjoying my meal. I think you'll have to flag him down if you need more water or want to order more. When you're done eating, go to the counter to check out. You'll see a sign that instructs you to pay there. Besides the Banh Mi Chao, other Yelp reviewers loved the Banh Khot, Fish Sauce Chicken Wings, Shaking Beef, and Roasted Chicken. Most enjoyed the Banh Canh Cua. I thought the Crab Meat with Salted Egg Fried Rice sounded delicious.
Saigon Oi is not your typical Vietnamese restaurant--there's no pho here, but plenty of other delicious classics that will absolutely keep you coming back. My personal favorite is the bánh xèo: crispy, flavorful, and done right every time. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I really appreciate that they keep the menu focused and intentional. It's clear they've chosen to do a smaller number of dishes exceptionally well. It shows in the quality and consistency.
I have been a regular at Saigon Oi since they opened and yes I have waited over 45 minutes like everyone else in the past. It's because the Vietnamese fusion food is really that yummy and presentation is an awe. I guess everyone has already tried their entire menu since it's like 10 items and drinks on the otherside. But I always welcome their Specials because like this Month the braised duck noodle soup was AMAZING there was 3 prices of generous portions of duck and herbal ingredients in the soup. If you love ducks and noodles as much as I do this is to die for. I would definitely return and have the duck noodles again or whatever your next special today's meal.

The wait was about an hour long today but I still waited for their special BBH. They also have yelps online wait list so I will definitely do that next time. The BBH was sooo good. Id want to come and try their banh canh cua, which a friend said was also really good. I was told the banh xeo is made fresh daily as well so I have to try it. The wait was long but once we sat down, the food came out pretty quickly. My friend and I both got their special bbh and its loaded. They had servers and staff pretty available of you needed anything and that was nice.

Though their signature dish is the Bánh Mì Chảo, we opted to have this on another day. Photos posted online are exactly what to expect upon entering this packed eatery. Trendy & modern decor & lighting fixtures abound. We reserved our spot via Saigon Oi's Yelp page waitlist feature while we were a good 30 minutes away. This was perfectly timed for that Sunday lunch as we were two parties away from being seated when we checked-in. Parking's tricky, so be prepared for that experience. Drinks: Kumquat Lemongrass Tea and Coconut Coffee. Both satisfying and flavorful drinks. The iced tea was refreshing while the coconut Vietnamese coffee was a great tasting waker-upper. Dishes: Crispy Fish Sauce Chicken Wings, Ribeye Steak and Vietnamese Shaking Beef, both with red rice. Food was OMG good. I'm drooling right now as I'm writing this review. Want to go back ASAP.
Had a great time here eating with my partner for Valentine's Day brunch! It's such a lovely cafe/restaurant. It's part of a Vietnamese plaza so it can be difficult to find parking. They use Yelp waitlist so you can easily check how long the wait is. We waited for about 5 minutes until your table was ready. The interior is beautiful it's with modern charm, lunar new year decorations, and gardenscaped bar station. Service was quick, efficient, and easy. We ordered: - Banh Khot: beautiful colors of gold and orange and green! Very filling and crunchy! Just be careful to not burn yourself since they're on top of a hot skillet. It comes with veggies on a separate plate like lettuce and mint with fish sauce. It's great by itself or as filling for a lettuce wrap. - Bo Luc Lac with Rice: They didn't have pasta or egg noodle that day so we settled for the rice. Great portion of rice and the beef was tender and juicy. - Com Do Ga Quay: I was very happy with the portion size of the chicken! Lots of meat, rice, and yolk on top for extra protein. What a great dining experience.
I am updating my previous 5 star review because of an experience I had during my most recent visit. While eating the banh khot, I felt this sharp stabbing feeling in the back of my throat. I had to hook this piece of metal out from my throat. I understand that mistakes can happen, but food safety should never be compromised. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend the restaurant with the same confidence as before.
Stumbled upon this restaurant using Yelp because my mom was craving "Asian food." Saigon Oi isn't your typical Vietnamese restaurant that serves Pho or Pork Chop Rice Plates and egg rolls. They offer a good variety of Vietnamese street food but with their own twist to it. I was fortunate enough to travel to Vietnam toward the end of 2024, so I was actually surprised to have recognized some of the names of the dishes! Saigon Oi is located in a pretty busy shopping plaza with other businesses around. Parking was a little difficult for my family and I but we eventually found a walkable spot. They can get really busy so if you plan on checking this place out, I highly suggest you check their Yelp page to get an estimated wait time. A waitlist via Yelp is available; which is great. They even have the Yelp waitlist iPad when you enter the restaurant. The restaurant is clean and bright. Spacious enough but, like I said, it can get really busy. Thankfully, my family and I were seated immediately. They do provide highchairs for your little ones. Their menu is small but is enough and really highlights popular dishes in Vietnam. So I appreciate being able to order easily without feeling overstimulated. We ordered the mini pancakes, chicken wings (a must get, trust!!!), shaking beef with red rice and the crab fried rice. Each dish definitely holds onto its own unique flavor and meshes well with each other. I enjoyed my meal at Saigon Oi and i'm glad my parents did, too.
Came here with 3 of my friends this past Saturday. We arrived a little after 12pm. We were able to check in on the Yelp waitlist in the app beforehand, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. We ordered a few dishes to share - 2 bánh khọt (Vietnamese mini pancakes), 1 xôi thập cẩm (sticky rice), 1 bánh mì chảo (filet mignon), and 2 cà phê dừa (coconut coffee). An order of bánh khọt came with 7 pancakes and a side of veggies and fish sauce. The pancakes were really crispy, and they were delicious, especially wrapped with the veggies. I just wished they gave more lettuce or at least allowed refills. More veggies was an extra charge. The xôi thập cẩm and bánh mì chảo were also good. The cà phê dừa was blended so it was more smoothie-like. The sweet coconut balanced out the strong coffee. Overall, we had a great and filling lunch. When I'm in sac and craving for banh mi chao, I have to come here! I love the flavor and the meat is tender. The sauce pairs so well with the baguette and I love dipped the bread in the runny egg yolk. There's usually a wait here so make sure to use Yelp waitlist to check how long the wait is! Lunch with the family. The food is always great here. Expect to wait in line on the weekends and also expect them to run out of some their items towards the end of the day. Definitely a must try spot, you won't regret it. read more

Hello Banh Mi Chao and Banh Khot! All my fave Vietnamese food in one restaurant. And the name Saigon Oi, how can you forget it! Rather I go with my hubs or friends, I always order the same dishes!!! Saw their menu and knew i had to come try the Banh Mi Chao. The restaurant is very classic Vietnamese restaurant. Banh Mi Chao: Similar to Bo Ne, classic pate eggs and filet mignon on a pilling hot skillet. Sauce was flavorful and dipping with the baguette was perfect. Highly recommend. I was in town visiting but would be back just for this dish. Makes me excited to try their other items. read more
My first dining experience here was a good one and based on this visit, I understand why there is usually a wait to get in here. The food and drinks tasted very authentic and full of flavor. We came on a weekend for lunch and the wait was about 15-20 min. The interior is very cute and we were seated by the window. I ordered a coconut coffee (so good and strong with lots of creamy coconut) and we also got the tropical fruit tea which was nice and refreshing. We got the bahn mi chao and bahn khot and I recommend both. The bread that came with the meat and egg dish was very soft and fresh, and the perfect vehicle to sop up the egg and broth. The mini pancakes topped with shrimp was also a tasty dish to eat and share. Service was prompt and we never felt rushed or ignored. I'm looking forward to their sister restaurant which just opened so I won't have to drive as far lol read more

I'm not Viet, and this was my first time having Bo Ne, but this definitely wasn't my first time getting Vietnamese-French bread, and that bread was everything. Perfectly crisp, but not the kind that scratches your mouth, and ridiculously airy and soft on the inside. Wherever this bread comes from, it's the right place. The bo ne platter itself was really good, though the egg was slightly overcooked for my liking. The bits of steak of in platter were tender, and the pate pretty much melted into the other fats. I did think there could've been more cherry tomatoes for a bit of sweetness, but I mean...you're not eating this for that, lol. We also got the special of the day, pho dac biet. The meat was cooked pretty well, but the you could tell that the broth was the star and had quite a bit of care put into it. Nicely savory and beefy, and not overly salty. I'm not from the Sacramento area so I'm not sure if i'll ever be back, but I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone in the area. read more

Vietnamese food here is pretty good! We had a variety from the menu, it was all delicious. Everything had a sweeter note to its but wasn't bad. Best part of the meal had to be the ice Vietnamese coffee. It was delicious and perfect! Despite it being pretty busy, we were seated fairly quickly and food came out fast. Overall vibes of the place were cool inside the restaurant. Parking is pretty bad, spaces are narrow and was packed on a Saturday afternoon. I highly recommend for some amazing Viet food! I definitely recommend the iced viet coffee is you are going to try anything! read more

Came with a party of 7 on Sunday and it was about a 40 minute wait. But be sure to join the waitlist ahead of time on Yelp! We all agreed that this was the beat Bo Ne aka Banh Mi chao we ever had. Not a typical Pho place we used to go to.. they serve other Vietnamese food and first time tried : Banh Mi Chao- looks good Flavor is a bit strong (salty) for me and my husband. Beef is tender. Banh Canh Cua- first time to try. Similar to udon noodle but Vietnamese style with crab paste, shrimp and other good stuff. YUMMY! Came here on a Sunday basically at opening (slightly after 10am) and was able to snag a table. Be wary that this place can get busy and you might have to wait a lil bit for a table (there was a lot of people waiting after we got our table). The interior is spacious and service is quick! We ordered and got our food in less than 15 minutes. 〰 Soup Cua (4.5/5): This dish was super comforting. The portion size is pretty good for sharing (for 2 people) 〰 Bò Lúc Lắc (4/5): This was solid. Again, the portions are awesome! The rice was super yummy. I wish the beef was slightly more tender; but nonetheless the flavor was great. 〰 Bánh mì chảo (5/5): DELISH. Would 1000% get this if I came again. Everything about this dish was great. The bread, the beef, the tomatoes, the pate, the egg... this is the first time I've ever had this dish but I am def a big fan now. read more
This place surprised me. The menu is small but everything I tried was very good! Nice ambience with good service. Definitely recommend. Good for small to medium groups. There's always a group of people waiting outside for a table so come early to avoid the crowd. Recommend carpooling as parking can get tough in this plaza. read more
I came here for lunch and got a booth seating right away, the staff were friendly and efficient. The space was clean and nice. I got the Bahn mi Chao and ice coffee, it was served quickly and it was full of flavor. The bread was fresh and crisp. The fillet minion was well, I would have it on medium well for next time. Wow. Best meal I have had in a long time! The menu has limited options but everything there is so good! We came on a busy Sunday, so make sure to put yourself on the Yelp waitlist ahead of time. Service was quick. I think we waited 10 mins max for our food. All of the dishes were so flavorful and I am drooling just thinking about it. Price is also cheap with $20 each w tip for 4 people for 4 dishes. Will def come back here again! read more

We walked in around 10:30am on a Sunday. It wasn't that busy. We were seated right away. We ordered the banh khot, banh mi chao, and the special: bun mam. Everything came quick and was good. Lots of fresh herbs to eat with. Bun mam wasn't that fishy for me. They didn't give a lot of noodles. There was more soup than noodles. There's many different proteins in it. 4/5: We got seated fairly quickly around 3pm for late lunch. It was all ok; nothing really stood out. Their noddle soups are on rotation every week per waiter and I got the fish based noodle soup. I did like it. The waiting staffs were forgetful, age doesnt matter, maybe lack of experience. They forgot 2 of our orders and the request of 3 waters without ice took a few times asking. Every time I come here I can never just order 1 dish. I have many favorites here and I always gotta have them. This place is a bit tiny but can pack a few groups, they are quick here, nice waiters and waitresses, food always hits, and I'm always full leaving with leftovers every time. read more

By luck I selected this restaurant as my last stop in Sacramento before heading back to the Bay Area. The banh kot and banh canh cua blew my mind ! Both were served in clay pot / sizzling plate which retained heat well. The banh kot were crispy, flavorful and had decent sized shrimps. The banh canh cua had all kinds of protein, including fish cake, pork cake, shrimp and shredded crab meat mixed with fried onion and shallot. The whole combination mixed very well together with right amount of chewiness on the udon. I will be back next time I visit Sacramento. The same plaza had BAMBU and Premium Matcha ice cream shop which were perfect for dessert after the meal. read more
One thing about this place is that it gets BUSY! Be sure to arrive early if you can. The interior was beautifully decorated and the food came out piping hot and beautifully plated as well. I would say that the service was okay. My friend recommended that we try this place because her and her family love coming here, but I didn't find myself that big of a fan. I got the Bo Luc Lac (shaking beef) and it had great flavors, it was just a little too oily for my liking, but that's just personal preference! "My God, This Is Good!" That was my literal reaction after the first bite of my banh canh cua (crab meat udon soup) and honestly, that says it all. This dish was EVERYTHING. Rich, flavorful broth, generous portions of seafood, and the perfect chew from the thick noodles. The crispy garlic chips added a great crunch, and the lemon and chili sauce on the side gave it that kick that I wanted. I'd order this again in a heartbeat. I also got their iced milk coffee which was flavorful (sweet). I ended up adding a bit of water to dilute it to my taste, but it still hit the spot. I had joined the waitlist on Yelp, and it showed I was far down the line, but when I arrived, I was seated right away so I'd recommend popping in just to check. The restaurant itself is modern, clean, and well-designed. You pay at the counter, which made the whole experience easy and efficient. 100/10, will be back soon. read more
I tried the Banh Mi Chao and really enjoyed it! It's a bit heavy for me, but very filling. I also got the Banh Canh Cua. I could pass on this -- there wasn't a lot of crab meat at all for the price. Service was good, and the restaurant itself is clean. I can't wait to come back and try other items. read more

Can you make the banh xeo vegetarian?
Yes we can make it with tofu. Banh xeo is only available Monday-Fridays and we recommend to call ahead to make sure we have the ingredients to make it for you.
Is the crab soup keto friendly (meaning no sugar, flour, or cornstarch added)?
I don't think so. It's super thick, like gravy. That tells me they used cornstarch to thicken the soup.
Hi are there any vegan options?
I didn't see any on the menu. I would say probably just the sweet potato fries or the regular french fries.

I was told by a gentleman at the cash register you don't do take as of 1/02/22. When will takeout be an option ? My family and I do not feel comfortable dining indoors at this time due to trying to avoid COVID and having a baby with us?

Do they take phone orders? We tried calling early to place an order for a lunch to be pick up and there was no answer after several calls. Tried calling again this afternoon and same thing straight to voicemail. Disappointed that we weren't able too
