Based on reviews we headed out on our 20 some minute drive to get here. Nice staff, seemingly family owned. The food was ok. These days that's not good enough for the price tag you pay. I was a little disappointed based on the reviews, and I recognize everyone's tastes are different. I had the lemongrass chicken and rice dish (I think it was #62). My husband had a similar dish that added egg rolls. I also ordered a Vietnamese coffee - it was excellent. The food: I liked my chicken, very well cooked - I would have liked a bit more flavor. Good taste, just needed more of the seasoning. My husband was similar, he did not like the egg rolls. I usually go to the original restaurant and come here occasionally. This time I ordered take out of the egg roll appetizer, that I love. She didn't give me a total over the phone and when I picked it up, the price was 15.99+ tax. I was a little shocked, to say the least... there were only 2 lettuce leaves and 3 scrawny sprigs on cilantro for 6 very small egg rolls. They tasted old and the fish sauce tasted like it had gone bad. The egg rolls were filled with almost nothing! It was not the first bad experience there. Will not return to this location! read more

I came here with my sister and my nieces, and they absolutely love this place, the staff knows them by now, which says a lot! They usually come for the pho, so for my first visit I had to try what they're always raving about. I ordered the chicken noodle pho and a shrimp spring roll, and both were delicious. Cute little place tucked into a strip mall. We were looking for something to eat on a cold day and soup sounded perfect. My husband started with the shrimp and pork spring roll and he really liked it. They do not skimp on the filling! I wasn't sure what to order, as the menu has so many options, the owner came over and was asking what I liked and didn't like and he said he had just the thing. I got rice noodle soup with tofu and vegetables and my husband got the rare beef with rice noodles and extra shrimp. The portion sizes are very generous and the broth was absolutely delicious! We've never been able to get here when it's opened, after finishing up some biz in the area we decided to see if it was open, it was so we're here. Not overly busy, so seating was easy to find. Started with pork & shrimp spring rolls, ordered Curried Beef and Curried Chicken for entrees. With the obligatory Thai Tea. Spring rolls came out fast, with a peanut sauce topped with peanuts and Sriracha sauce. Nice heat to go with the sweet. Following right behind the appetizers was our entrees. Both were excellent, mild heat and loaded with flavor. The beef was tender as was the chicken. There was just enough to fill us up. We ordered the special chicken clay pot and the beef pho. $25. This is the best pho in Rio Rancho and while the clay pot is not as good as the clay pot at Basil Leaf - it is still pretty good. The clay pot is full of many more things than chicken. The mushrooms were especially tasty. This one compares to the combination clay pot at most places because it has shrimp and lap cheong and nuts. This is a great place to eat as the staff and everything we've ever tried has always been delightful. read more

Wanted to go for jerk chicken, as an officer gave me the idea during the week, however, the place was closed by the time we arrived and it just so happened that Mark's GPS saved the night, bringing us to this quaint strip mall Vietnamese restaurant, #saigon2restaurant in #riorancho. We ordered pho and combination soft egg noodles. The contrasts between raw and cooked and the contrasting flavors between the ingredients made the dishes really flavorful and the broth was delicious! This is our go to spot for Pho. The broth is so delicious. My daughter who is a somewhat picky eater loves their grilled lemongrass chicken. We eat here often, about once every two weeks, because it's so good. The service is fast & friendly. Every time we call in an order she always lets us know it'll be 10-15 mins & it's always ready on time. If you're looking for some authentic, simple, delicious Vietnamese food...this is the place. This past weekend my wife and I went to Saigon 2, for the first time. WOW, were we completely surprised! Although Vietnamese cuisine is still new to me, we were delighted with everything that we had. We started with 2 spring rolls of shrimp & pork. They came in rice paper, especially with the accompanying dipping sauce with peanut and garlic. For my main course I used the Yelp app on my phone, to see what people recommended. Very helpful, when you're not too familiar with the cuisine. I ordered the combination plate #81, which came with lemongrass chicken, fried rice (very tasty!), 3 large butterflied prawns and steamed vegetables. The presentation was very appealing. Good presentation of food is essential, I believe, to the total enjoyment of the meal. My wife had curried chicken over rice, with coconut & peanut butter. She found it very delicious. The service was nice and friendly. Very helpful, especially for newbies to Vietnamese food. The establishment is smaller than I expected it to be. Perhaps that's due to its location. And in a way, it reminded me of what I've seen in movies such as the recent Crazy Rich Asians, where people go to street food vendors in order to enjoy really great food in a vibrant setting. What I regret is that it too us so long to go to Saigon 2! We live near by, it's a great pity that we haven't gone here before. We will definitely return, soon and often! read more

Every time I eat at this restaurant I am never disappointed. The owners are very nice and always so helpful with the menu. This time my family and I ordered 3 rare beef Pho to go. I happen to eat a lot of Asian food and had my own huge Pho bowls at home. The broth is so good from this restaurant. My family and I love to put all the amazing veggies on a plate so we can customize our Pho to our liking. All we do is warm up the broth to almost boil, then pour over meat, noodles and onions. We wait til meat is cooked before we add anything else, the we dig in. This restaurant is very clean and always very welcoming. Anything on their menu is fresh. First of all the hours of operation and days the place is open is not correct on Yelp, they were open on a Monday when I stopped by. I had the combo beef pho which was very good and satisfying as was the Vietnamese coffee with ice. What I could not wrap my head around was how in need of a good cleaning the place was in need of. The table was sticky, the carpet was way past due for a cleaning and the walls were in need of a good cleaning. Most places struggle from the back of the house in the kitchen, this place was let down by the front of the house. There is just no excuse for the dining area to be this dirty, so dirty that it just stands out. read more

The restaurant is in a shopping outlet. The only reason I ended up there was because friends invited me to a girls luncheon. Its not a big place but can hold a large group. I ordered Rice stick noodle with grilled slice pork and egg roll. Yummmm this is the best. The waiter shared a nice tip to use the sauces at table with our food. Very delicious meal, all fresh. We went there last week at about 2:30 in the afternoon and were the only customers. I hand the rice noodle soup with pork,shrimp,crab,squid and squid ink. There were about 6 small shrimp which were cooked right. The crab wasn't crab but imitation crab which was soft. The squid was chewy and tough, almost impossible to eat and tasteless. The noodles were really thin white ones that I like and cooked right. They serve a side dish with cilantro which I was glad it was on the side as I hate the taste of cilantro (like soap). Also a pile of mung bean sprouts which were fresh and almost the only vegetable. My husband had the grilled chicken with rice platter. It came with 2 small egg rolls. I had one and it was delicious. He liked the chicken but it was greasy which spoiled it for him. My soup was okay but not wonderful. The place seems clean but I didn't use the rest room. The manager was the only employee in sight. It took about 15 minutes to get our food and we were the only customers. I gave them 3 stars for the lack of real crab and the tough rubbery squid The soup needed more especially vegetables. I have no idea about the squid ink as there was no taste of it at all. It's not much value for the $13 price. read more

The beef pho here is really good, but they only serve one size and it might be too small for some people. They give a smaller amount of noodles than other pho places but it was the perfect portion size for me. Considering the price for the one size, it's a little on the higher side in comparison to other restaurants. I've also tried their chicken pho before, but it was too salty for me.
