A welcome addition to Andrews, this restaurant hit the mark on all three Yelp points. Food: it's excellent. The chef prepares a plate that is thoughtful and balanced. While picky eaters might have a tough time at Sage, foodies and food lovers will appreciate the menu. Service: the waitstaff is young, but attentive and knowledgeable. I feel they will keep getting better over time. Ambiance: you enter through the courtyard, which has plenty of outdoor seating. The interior seating is set for fine dining in a casual manor. Lighting is dim for a romantic dinner yet seating for large parties along the banquette wall is available. We recently had dinner to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary at Sage in Andrews, NC. What an excellent experience. It was truly an "uptown" place in a tiny town. We spent the long weekend in a quaint air B & B just outside of town and experienced everything we could from a train ride to a dive bar to a burger joint in a double wide. Sage was a definite highlight of the celebration. The food was superb. The pork belly appetizer that we shared was unique and delicious. I had the sea bass and my wife had the beef (fork tender). Both had subtle flavors with excellent textures. We both had a dessert. I opted for the chocolate and my wife had the crème brûlée. Both excellent. Highly recommend you find this jewel. read more

My wife and I enjoyed another spectacular dining experience at Sage so about time we we write a review. There's a trend here in our half dozen plus dinners and that trend is excellence in service, excellence in dining and excellence in ambiance. Last night was a test for the staff and chef. Every table was filled and we experienced all the staff pitching in to assure a wonderful experience for customers. Sage delivered on all levels under what clearly was extreme pressure given the full capacity with literally every table full. They didn't miss a beat. Duck....have never had better. Wish I knew the chef's secret. Seared scallop special...awesome. Good luck finding a better crab cake, I am not sure how one can get such good quality crab to Andrews,NC. Wine list...love it. Discovered a new favorite Petite Syrah thanks to their advice. Ambiance was energetic due to the large crowd and we learned chef has many talents which include painting the large floral art work which is a centerpiece of the dining area. Andrews is fortunate to have scored such fine dining. We will return to Sage often! read more

We came for dinner in early February. We walked through the patio, which looks very promising for a future visit in the spring. The restaurant itself had a beautiful element of class for décor. I had the duck, but overall, it was very difficult choosing from this menu; everything looked spectacular. It was complex and approachable, extremely satisfying, and delicious. I also enjoyed the sweet potato hash - those mushrooms were so good - and asparagus, which was cooked to perfection. This menu quality was notably elevated, and we were very impressed. My date had equally emphatic compliments. The wine selection was very good, and we enjoyed the 2020 Paul Mas Reserve pinot noir. The crème brûlée will change your view on dessert - no other shall ever compare! I Three layers! We found an awesome tawny port that paired beautifully with it too. This chef is clearly talented and justifiably proud of the quality cuisine coming out of his restaurant. He took time to visit us and the other tables to top-off the experience in the best way. This restaurant offered the kind of experience you find in a big city. Having such an upscale dining opportunity in the area is a real treat. We highly recommend making the trek to dine there. When we entered Sage, we were greeted by the friendly hostess. She had a warm welcoming smile and kind greeting. Our server was extremely attentive and pleasant. She was a sweetheart and took great care of us. The food was exquisite. We started with a crab cake and scallop - outstanding. For dinner, I had the salmon & brussels sprouts and my husband had the flank steak with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Mouth watering dishes. The atmosphere was very relaxing. I wanna give 8 stars because Andrews, NC is so lucky to have Sage. We spent a weekend in Andrews. Driving through the sleepy little town, I was looking for something to eat. My partner was very interested in the Friday night food truck event, but while looking for parking I spied "Sage". The place looked quiet for a Friday which would normally deter me, but with the food truck rally out back, I guessed maybe parking was an issue? Well, I wanted something good, not greasy food truck junk, so I asked the hostess if we were okay to sit outside. We had been out on the boat all day, enjoying the sun and the water, so we were not dressed for fine dining. They not only said, "yes" but they told us to please come inside! We were blown away by that hospitality as we were in flip flops, shorts, tank tops! We decided to stay on the deck as the sun was setting and we enjoy that time of day so much. Our hostess brought water and thanked us for stopping by. She was very friendly, personable and had a very fun edgy style. Our server, Robert, was certainly the best service we have had in a long time. Handsome, knowledgeable and skilled, Robert really guided us through the entire experience. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and corn soup. Both were so flavorful and fresh! We also got the burrata dish. House made burrata. So delicious. We went on to order the salad with raspberries and the Veggie Dinner plate. The veggie plate is a combination of sides. Our favorite part was the smoked tomato grits. Absolutely delicious. Then we had coffee and port. I had to get dessert: bread pudding with peaches and a bourbon cream sauce. Oh baby. Talk about amazing. This is not your average mountain town restaurant. This is a hidden gem, diamond in the rough, top secret speak easy of flavor. Run... don't walk. Support this chef and his vision. They give a classy atmosphere without a pretentious attitude. Yummy, Yummy, Yummy! On Saturday, September 2nd, we had the pleasure of celebrating our anniversary at Sage Restaurant in Andrews, NC. Not only was the meal and service wonderful, but Chef Steven took the time to come to our table and discuss my allergies with me. He reviewed the menu discussing ingredients and cooking methods to determine which entrée would meet my dietary constraints. There are only 3 other places that have provided that level of service and care and The French Laundry is one of those. Never disappointed by this wonderful upscale restaurant in Andrews. I started off with lovely glass of Pinot Noir. The pork belly was incredible. The grits and complimentary sauce were a perfect addition. Dinner was the short ribs and again delectable. Sage is a nicely decorated. The food was good with nice presentation,but ..... a chicken dish at $35 (cheapest meal on menu and ala cart, the staff was slightly pretentious. Was told we should have a reservation even though there was just one table occupied, the wine list had some decent price wines but most were not available and our waitress recommended substations that weren't even similar grapes. One member of our party used the ladies room to discover the liquid soap was watered down. Over all from our perspective this was not a place we will return to. read more

I have known Chef Steven Lash for a few years now and so excited for his new restaurant!! The decor and ambiance was such a nice surprise, because I knew the food was going to be amazing...and it did not disappoint. We had a couple of the salads, fried green tomatoes and pork belly appetizer. That pork belly and smoked tomato grits was the best appetizer I think I have ever had!! We had the duck, salmon, chicken, and pork tenderloin. Everything was delicious! I personally had the duck and it was cooked perfectly. Well, my goodness! A white cloth 5 star restaurant in Andrews NC! We have had a lake house in the area for 15 years, and to call this area a dining dessert is an understatement. Heck McD's went out of biz. So we were hopeful, but only a little bit when we made reservations... so... Dinner, service and atmosphere were outstanding!
