"Robbinsville is a town in Graham County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 597 at the 2020 census." That's according to Wikipedia. According to me, someone who recently spent a weekend there, can confirm that Robbinsville is indeed a town that looks to be populated with less than 600 people. That being said, food options were not expected to be diverse and plentiful. However across the street from my hotel was a quaint home that was actually a restaurant. Willow Tree: a catering business that serves people for dinner on the weekend. Tired and hungry, I sauntered in and sunk into a very cushy chair in the entrance/waiting room as I waited for a take-out order. I ordered a ribeye and not only did the order came out quick, but the waitress offered me an actual steak knife to take back to the hotel for the meal! "You can return it tomorrow, we have plenty of them!" she cheerfully said. Nothing like Southern, small-town, hospitality. The meal was great. The ribeye was cooked to order and well seasoned, the Mac and Cheese really hit the spot, and the Pecan Pie was a perfect end to an all-around great hotel meal. If you ever find yourself in Robbinsville, you need to check this place out and who knows- it may make you want to become resident 598. read more

Willow Tree restaurant in Robbinsville, NC has moved locations but the vibe and food is still the same. The first time we went to Willow Tree we had the best young server and a great experience with their tasting menu. The tasting menu is gone, but the portions and options are still the same. There is a lack of good places to eat in Robbinsville so it is great to see the Willow Tree finding a new home a up and coming lodge. The trout dip and the fillet were our favorites items. If you get the ribeye, ask for the steak sauce on the side. There is just a lot of it, but it is good. I wish they were making their own Caesar dressing. The one they are using is fine but tasted jarred. Also ask for extra dressing. The grill on the Romain is great, but they aren't putting the dressing between the leaves. I do wish when they were building the lodge they but huge windows that took advantage of the view of the lake. This didn't change the food . read more

This is a 3 1/2 * and for being one of the better restaurants in Robbinsville, it fell little short. Think quantity over quality and service. +. Ambiance is shabby chic, intimate house resto. Multiple dining rooms are small and they have an outdoor patio that has several tables. +. Food is American and their menu changes every week. We had their grilled caesar to start and shared a 14oz prime rib. The fresh 1/2 romain was slightly charred and sprinkled with pre-made dressing. I had it without croutons and my friend had it with. We both enjoyed it. The salad plates though were narrow and an odd shaped which wasn't easiest to support cutting. The prime rib was well done to blue. They don't ask for desired temp. If you prefer specific temp, be aware. This steak was tougher than expected for a typical PR. The sides we picked were butternut squash which was slightly sweet but pleasant. =. Service was mostly good. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. However, I do have a bone to pick. They charge $10 for splitting an entree, BUT they do NOT serve the entree to 2-plates! They brought one entree (as photo'd) and just an empty dinner plate. WE HAD TO cut and plate the 2nd plate ourselves! So they charge $10 for splitting withOUT providing any service :((. If you charge a fee for service, fine. But you SHOULD provide that SERVICE you charge! Also, my salad came with croutons which the waitress quickly remedied. We ordered offered blueberry cobbler for dessert but they were already sold out. It was only about 7:30pm! =. Price is on the higher side and little value for what you get. +. Parking is easy in a private gravel lot. Willow Tree has a nice ambiance, their food was just okay and their upcharge for service NOT provided was a turn off. Not sure if they are looking for repeat customers... There aren't many choices for restaurants around Robbinsville. I'll be packing food prior to coming up this way next time. Really great spot with excellent dinner service and the fresh baked bread and ice cream looked delicious! I had the ribeye which was a generous portion, thick-cut, seasoned, and cooked perfectly. Visiting from Nashville, the $30 price tag with two sides was an incredible deal for the quality. This steak would be $75 and the sides would be a la carte. Yelp led me to this gem of a restaurant in western NC. An old converted house into a restaurant. It felt like A Savannah type of place. Sisters own and operate the restaurant. very nice people. One sister running around taking orders and Serving. The other cooking up great meals. onion rings with three dipping sauces appetizer. Yum. Followed by filets and a prime rib. Both were delicious. I've been coming to this area Sunday annually for the Past few years and just found Willow Tree. I look forward to coming back next year. read more

Had a fabulous meal at this delightful little restaurant/bakery at a recent wedding reception. The food was out-of-this-world delicious. Out of three entree choices, three items in particular stood out: A perfectly prepared medium rare filet mignon, feathery light yeast rolls and show stopping chocolate cobbler. Service was friendly and attentive. Wonderful owner was involved from beginning til end. Atmosphere is warm and casual. Look forward to returning again from Charlotte in the future. After a cold ride home on the motorcycle in late October not many places were open and those that were closed soon. This included willow tree but it was open for slightly less than an hour so I decided I should go, listed on maps as "burger restaurant" I thought I'd put one down and go to bed with slightly more room left in my stomach. Anyways, this place is so so good. Chef is extremely talented. She's a chef and a half. Maybe like a chef and 7/8s. She's basically like two chefs cuz she's so good. I got the pork chop as per another customers suggestion. The chocolate cobbler was amazing I didn't even know it existed. Traveling home from the mountains, we stopped for the night in Robbinsville, searched for restaurants on line, found and settled on willow tree. Waitress was not friendly and did not engage in conversation. We were served tea in plastic, disposable cups( everyone else had glasses), my filet was good and cooked the way I asked my wife ordered the trout, and it was so salty, she only ate a part of it. Roasted potatoes were hard and tough on both orders. We really didn't feel comfortable at all there. Small town. We were non locals in a place where the staff probably knows most everyone who lives there. Who knows? We just won't be back. read more

Dark mountain road on a Saturday night and the four of us were getting hungry. We had been on a road trip for a couple of days in Tennessee and we're heading home. Traveling the Cherohala highway we began looking for somewhere to eat dinner. The road dumped us out in Robinsville, NC. Looking for a place to eat on line, The Willow Tree restaurant popped up. It took us a few minutes to find it. We parked in their lot and read the reviews and decided to give it a try. We were greeted very warmly and told it would be just a few minutes. We took in the small town ambiance and friendly atmosphere. We were seated shortly and ordered . The ladies had the trout and us guys had the filet. Starting with the grilled Caesar salad with house made croutons... totally knocked my socks off. THE BEST CAESAR SALAD I ever had. Roasted potatoes and zucchini came with our entrees and were delicious, too. The four of us continued to brag on how good our choice of restaurants was. For dessert we chose the sampler that came with three desserts. We had apple crisp, coconut cream pie and chocolate cobbler. We added vanilla ice cream. WOW. All four of us were totally sated and stuffed for our three hour drive home. Food, service, atmosphere...it was all great. The only drawback is they are so far from us it will be very hard to make a return visit. But, we will try. They are a catering company and are only open Friday and Saturday nights and reservations are recommended. But, they did accommodate us with no notice. We do hope we can find an opportunity to return. If you're traveling the Cherohala highway make plans to stop in at the Willow Tree and have dinner. You will enjoy it. read more

We happened upon this little place and certainly glad we did. While Robbinsville is a bit of a sleepy mountain town Willow Tree Restaurant is first class food! I'm not the type of person to leave reviews on food places, in fact this is my first review I have ever written. I came to Robbinsville on vacation and heard that Willow Tree was delicious and that I should try the prime rib(if they had it on the menu). Keep in mind they do have a different menu every day. I was looking forward to trying that prime rib but sadly it wasn't on the menu the Saturday night we went as it was on the menu the night before as well as a porterhouse steak. However they still did have a filet mignon on the menu for the night so I went ahead and ordered that with mashed potatoes and cornbread stuffing with gravy as my sides, and my girlfriend ordered the chicken piccata with the same sides I did. First however, our fried green tomato appetizer came out and we were nothing short of impressed. When our steaks came out I was impressed at the size of them. These were 10 oz filets that came with two sides for just $26. I took my steak knife and my jaw dropped at how this piece of meat sliced like butter. I attempted to cut the steak with my spoon to see just how easy it really sliced, and the spoon effortlessly cut through the meat. It was the best steak I have ever had in my entire life. The chocolate cobbler was also delicious. TL;DR: best steak I've had in my entire life and if you're in this town it's a must that you stop by this place. read more

Very cute, family run restaurant - sisters Shea is the chef and Jodie is the server. Party of five, and we all loved the dishes that were served. No alcohol, but we called ahead and were told that we could bring our own wine, and they provided glasses - no corkage fees. Flank steak was cooked to perfection, and the double chocolate cheesecake was shared was scrumptious. Even my calorie conscious sister-in-law couldn't resist! I had very high hopes, and I was let down. The sides (baked potato and grilled asparagus) and rolls were great. My steak had a good flavor, but it was overcooked; I asked for medium and it was well done. The server was not very welcoming, and did not anticipate our needs very well. Our crab legs came out without a cracker tool and a discard plate. We had to ask again for sour cream and butter for our potatoes. All of this would be somewhat understandable, if we weren't paying more than $30 for an entrée. For that price, I expect very good food and service. read more
