Holy moly! To start, I'm well into my 70s. So I don't get out much. But as it's tax season, my wife and I went to H&R Block to deal with that. Well, VG's Bakery just so happens to be next door to the tax office. Then after meeting with the tax person, and as we were leaving, I asked our tax adjuster if the bakery next door was any good. She said "There's nothing that's not excellent!" So, my wife and I went in and bought a few things. All were fresh and excellent. We also bought a couple of their Ginger cookies, and I'm now in love. So much so that I went there yesterday and bought 6. I just now finished slamming one and a half in my mouth at full speed. Love this place. The staff is friendly and appreciative for the business. What a lovely bakery! We bought a discounted cinnamon roll and blueberry scone (assuming a day old?) and 4 fresh blueberry and oatmeal maple scones. All cost about $22 and were delicious! I could see the oatmeal scones pairing perfectly with your morning coffee. Great, crunchy topping that adds a tough of sweetness. I love that the scones are not incredibly sweet so we can lie to ourselves and say "hey, it's breakfast, not dessert." Workers were helpful, friendly, and took CoVID seriously. Masks for all required and they only allow one patron in the shop at a time. O... M... G... was this the best idea I've ever had to come here on a Saturday morning!! My friends and I were wanting to something to do to take our minds off of the stress of school and this was absolutely what we needed!. The scone was fantastic! So soft and crumbly and not too sweet! The bar was crispy on the outside with the oats and gooey on the inside with the caramel and jelly! And the cinnamon pull apart bread was just decadent! I've tried several items from VG's now over three different trips, and each time has been very average. Everything I've gotten here has been overly sweet with no real flavor depth, to the point that I can't finish it. There's nothing particularly bad about what I've had, it's just unremarkable. I would put it on par with any grocery store chain bakery, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you wouldn't go out of your way to get it. read more

We just moved here from California, we have some amazing bakeries and I was really skeptical when I needed a cake recently. I called VG's on a recommendation and got an Original chocolate cake for my Mom's birthday last minute, and was totally impressed with everything I bought when I went in to pick it up! Let me start by saying that the English toasting bread is AH MAZING! Absolutely delicious! The pumpkin bread was also sooo good! The jalapeño cheddar was good as well, just too spicy for my whimpy self! The cake was also good, it wasn't mind blowing good, but it was still good. Next time I will try the chocolate fudge cake. Great bakery for such a variety of desserts and breads. They baked us a fantastic carrot cake for my husband's birthday.

I can never get enough of VG's Bakery's delectable treats! Generally, I catch them at the Market Square Farmers' Market. That said, when I'm out in Farragut, I simply have to pop in. I usually go with the lemon cookies. But, more recently, have started buying a bunch of cupcakes. They're so tasty, so fresh, so good. There aren't enough adjectives to truly capture how amazing they are. That said, them lemon cookies are ridiculous, and I don't want any one else to be able to buy them. :) read more

I live near the Farragut location, and I adore this bakery!! I first discovered it at the Farragut Farmer's Market. They had a booth there selling a variety of baked goods. I immediately fell for the blueberry sweet roll. Not only was it HUGE, but soft like a sweet roll should be, and had such a great flavor without being too sweet. Then I visited their store and discovered their ginger cookies. These are my absolute favorite cookies! Big, dark, rolled in coarse sugar before baking. A little crunch when you bite into one, then soft. Then the ginger begins to develop as you chew - and it gives you a bite back! Not too much (I can't handle hot spice), but just enough to make the experience amazing! VGs is my favorite bakery! read more

From their cinnamon rolls to their cookies and breads, I haven't had one thing that wasn't delicious. And they still go and sell at Farmer's Markets too!! I think about this place daily and it saddens me that I don't live up the street from them anymore. VG's bakery is Very Good. I used to stop in and get the ginger cookies when I was pregnant with my kid. And as the kid grew, every week that my kid had a good week in school we would head there on Friday for a cookie reward. It's like this. VG's is your bakery for a loaf of bread or a muffin or a cinnamon roll. But I can't say that it's my go-to bakery for cake or cookies. Still. Kudos to them for having a range of pastries that you cannot find elsewhere. Just look at this..I mean, texas sheet cake and kolaches remind me of my childhood. Where else can you find that around here? Here's the rundown: the almond horns are amazing. And the ginger cookies are amazing. The rest is downhill for me. Sugar cookies were too crumbly, lemon cookie was too crumbly, shortbread cookies were too floury, the cupcakes were. Ugh. They were way too dense and tasted not so great. Sorry. I contacted VG's to do a cake for my twins 6th birthday two weekends ago and sent them a description of exactly what I envisioned via email and THEY NAILED IT!!! It was two-tiered perfection based off a children's tv show and it was delicious. It was the first time we have used VG's for their cake and now I will never order a birthday cake for my kids anywhere else...no lie! There is nothing that you could buy here that won't be one of the most delicious things on the whole planet. Fabulous bakery on the west side. A favorite of the wife, I tend to stay away from the sweets and breads. However, when I want to indulge, the carrot cake is excellent and available by the slice or a big 'ol cake. Son swears by the cinnamon rolls. VG's Bakery is one of the few real artisan bakeries we have in town. This, in itself, would be enough to earn my gratitude, but in addition VG's is a place of excellence in taste, style and creativity. VG's is mostly about bakers' confectioneries such as pastries, cakes, scones, cookies etc more than it is about breads (i.e., it is clearly more a "patisserie" than a "boulangerie"), although their breads are fine too - it's just that I find the selection of bread to be limited when compared to that of pastries & cakes. The pastries and cakes are, as I wrote, second to none. The taste is perfect, not too sugary, not too bitter - just as good as can be. The consistency is perfect. The cookies are as good as the cakes: not too hard, not too soft, and it's actually quite rare IMHO to be able to do both that well. Their success goes well above the chocolate items: try the almond horse shoe for instance and you'll be glad you were born. The breads are good too, they are clearly American-style. Not really European-style "hard external crust / soft expended inside" breads, much to the chagrin of my eurocentric palate. They are nonetheless very good - in particular the fougasse/foccacia which is very true to its European roots. I got some brioches once - they were amazing. Brioches are alas a seasonal item so you won't find them there all the time, but if you find them, you want to try them. Those were the real brioches in taste, appearance and consistency - never got brioches that good in North America, I kid you not. VG's the best bakery in town that I know of - it's that simple. Prices are very reasonable considering the top quality of their work. Service is excellent too. They have a small table where you can eat their creations with a cup of coffee, à la "salon de thé". A great place. Five stars, without a doubt. read more

VG's Bakery is located in an unassuming spot in the Kohl's plaza on Kingston Pike; blink and you'll miss it. My dad and his wife recommended it to me when I started working close by, and I never expected such delicious treats to be tucked away in a strip mall in Farragut. Everything that I have had the pleasure of eating here has been perfection. The savory breads have a nice crust and soft crumb, the cookies are the perfect mix between crunchy/soft, and the cakes are simply divine. Since I bake myself, I am rarely impressed by cookies but they are truly excellent here. The lemon, ginger, and cranberry/oat/pecan ones are a must. They also have a tropical cookie sandwich with coconut that is worth all the calories. If you have a special occasion, the cakes are amazing. The white on white cake I bought for my mom's birthday was the best one I have had in recent memory. VG's is well worth the trip to Farragut. read more

Really great baked goods if you don't mind driving to Farragut. Cakes are unbelievable. It's almost lost in the shadow of Kohl's. Hours are somewhat limited, so plan to get there earlier in the day for the best selection. Plenty of things that aren't in the case can be made-to-order with a little of advance notice. They do a big business over the holidays with people who like to entertain. Pick up some cookies or muffins for your workplace and look like a superstar. Bonus points for putting them on a cheap tray from the dollar store and taking all of the baking credit. Just remember to remove any incriminating wrappers first. read more
