We love lunch at Gazebo when we come into town. The broccoli and cheddar soup is always a hit, especially on cold days. The portions are perfect and each sandwich comes with a pickle and chips. During nice weather you can sit outside by the creek and they allow dogs on the patio. The service is always great!

Gazebo has a cute location at a creek, and some of the tables overlook the creek. They do have a small parking lot, but are so popular that you may need to park in the larger lot up by the road. Gazebo is an open-air restaurant, and the tables by the creek are outdoor tables, but the rest of the tables are under the gazebo. Plastic walls allow for more protection from the weather, and the restaurant does have outdoor heaters to ward off the chills. I am gluten intolerant, and I sure wish they offered gluten-free bread, but I usually order a salad, and enjoy that Almost as much as a sandwich. They serve food in to-go containers, so, if you're taking your leftovers, you're all set. The salads are fresh, and the tea is good. Good tea is a marker of Everything, so I recommend Gazebo!

Relaxing atmosphere A couple of weekends ago, we were in Brevard for my HS Reunion Picnic and spent the night in Sapphire Valley. Next morning, indulged in the complimentary breakfast at the Hampton Inn Inn and hit the road. After viewing some amazing scenery, somewhat heavy on waterfalls, we ended up in Franklin for lunch Quick review on online reviews, The Gazebo Cafe Creekside looked interesting. It had been raining before we got her and had subsided to a mere Monsoon so everyone was on the main deck for dining when we got there. Any other time.the tables on the lower deck next to the creek would have been occupied but it's a fun place anyway/ I dropped my wife off at the front door while I found a parking spot. ( Note: parking is limited) Came in and she had found a table and our server was there immediately. Ended up moving because the rain was blowing in. Our server went with us which was an excellent sign of commitment. Very interesting menu with a lot of favorites and some unique combinations but for the whole we stuck with our normal comfort food. My wife had the special wihich was a cup of Broccoli Cheese Soup with Grilled Ham and Swiss Sandwich which she enjoyed. I went with the French Dip and while good, was not outstanding. The meat and the bread were good but the parquet of Horseradish was closer to mayonnaise than horseradish and the au jus had little or no taste of the rendering from the cooking of the meet. Still it's a nice place and a good place to relax overlooking a small creek flowing below. We will be going back in a couple of months and will give it another shot and try other items on the menu. My wife did enjoy her's and mine was the only thing that did not come up to expectiations.

We had the grilled chicken sandwich and the muffuletta (say yes to the sauce) and they were dynamite. The weather was perfect to sit out and enjoy the afternoon. Our service was great and the people were friendly. Highly recommend if you are a local or passing through

Cute little place here in Franklin. Went for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't too crowded. We opted to sit outside since the weather is good. They had the heat on inside the Gazebo, so outside was better for us. We had the Ruben which was stoked full of meat. The sauerkraut was good and the dressing was good too. We also had the Mufaletta sandwich and it was really good too! Nice atmosphere here. Friendly folks. First time visit, but won't be our last.

I tried to go back this year, and am so appalled by the customer service (or lack thereof) that I will now give it 0 stars, so settled for two since I can't do two and a half. Yes, the food and ambiance were wonderful in 2025. I tried to book another afternoon tea party and called a month and a half in advance. This was to celebrate multiple birthdays with a group of busy moms so wanted to get it on the calendar. No one called me back despite the voicemail saying that we would hear back "promptly." I left two more messages in a span of two, three weeks and still nothing. I even emailed, no response. Finally, a friend stopped by in person and was told that the cafe would be short staffed the weekend we wanted the reservation for so the manager needs to see if there are enough people working before confirming. Okay....but why wouldn't you call back to tell me that? Our requested reservation is tomorrow and I still have not heard back from anyone. This is abysmal customer service. As mentioned, food was good but not good enough to treat potential customers like this. Hard pass from now on and will not go back or recommend. *Editing to respond to Victoria -- those were the dates I called and left voicemails. Perhaps there was a phone issue on your end, but I did not even get a missed call. My friend who stopped by in person spoke to a manager. She had to go by twice due to the manager not being available the first time. I also did not get an email response.

I got the coconut refresher, not too sweet and still had caffeine. They have topo Chico, my favorite sparkling water, so they got bonus points for that. They have a pastry window(?) that had a decadent looking, huge, slice of blueberry coffee cake and a cheesecake I would have tried if I was in the mood for sweets. I saw a couple enjoying it and letting the staff know the coffee was delicious. The tables are spacious, there were only around 6 people when I went and the atmosphere made it easy to ignore the other people and write this. But other "strangers" began conversations so it is still inviting. The music is acoustical versions of modern songs. I saw a staff cleaning the counters around the place while I ate so they definitely keep it clean. The gentleman who took my order was friendly and not overbearing. From the moment you arrive, you can tell Mercier Orchards is something special. There is so much packed into this one location that it almost feels like a small village built around apples and everything that comes with them. Inside the main store, the selection is honestly overwhelming in the best way possible -- home goods, gifts, jams, jellies, preserves, baking mixes, sauces, butters, ciders... anything and everything apple-related, plus plenty of other fruit-based goodies. It's the kind of place where you say "I'm just going to browse" and then walk out with bags of stuff you didn't know you needed. Then there's the bakery. Seven lines. All long. And all moving surprisingly well. I eventually stepped out of line after about 15 minutes, but not before getting a solid look at the pastries, pies, breads, and desserts -- everything looked incredible. Even without buying anything that round, the bakery alone is worth the stop. Now let's talk about the apple picking experience -- because this is where the magic really happens. Riding out on a trailer attached to a tractor felt like something straight out of a fall movie. The views, the air, the vibe -- it's peaceful, exciting, and nostalgic all at the same time. The apples change with the season, and the ones we picked were delicious and lasted a long time. No pesticides, just straight calcium. Fresh, crisp, and perfect. And yes... get a bag or three like I did. You're going to want them. The entire place also makes for amazing photo opportunities. Whether it's the orchard, the tractor ride, the store, or the scenery -- this is one of those spots where your camera roll is guaranteed to fill up. The only negative moment of the day happened when I went to grab some cider and one of the guys behind the counter completely ignored me. I actually had to call him out -- like, "Did you not see me standing here?" Not great. But that one interaction couldn't even come close to outweighing everything else this place offers. Bottom line: If you're anywhere in the area -- or even thinking about making a day trip -- you absolutely have to go. It's a little off the beaten path, so I don't expect most people to just "stumble" upon it... but if you plan it, you won't regret it. This is an experience, not just a stop.

Our waiter was kind and attentive, clarifying whether we wanted sweet or unsweet tea (my California ass forgot I was in the south now), warning us the kitchen was running a little behind due to the morning rush, and in general being a gem of a human being. When traveling to Bryson City, on the occasion of what has become our annual leaf watching weekend…read morevacation in the fall, we typically route our way to avoid the interstate roads. I call this our "blue highways" route, after the book by William Least Heat Moon. The rules are to only take routes that on the old atlas maps were "blue", and to stop and read any historical markers or signs. We like U.S. 76 through Westminster and Long Creek into Clayton. The point is, however, about 5 years ago, on a similar trip, we discovered the Clayton Cafe and it has become a planned destination for us along the way. The whole little township is lovely, with several interesting shops (esp. Butler Galleries). So, we have been here 6-7 times, and never been disappointed. But today, we were running late. We looked up the hours, which were 9AM to 3PM and perfect for our 1:45PM later arrival. Surprisingly, the restaurant was crowded at this late lunch hour. We were immediately seated at the only available 4 top. It was packed. The restaurant has two outdoor two tops, 2 indoor two tops, and eleven indoor 4 tops, for a max seating of 52. By 1:55, there was a wait list! People were even being turned away, and all different age groups were present, but the overall crowd was 50+, probably due to the peak fall foliage weekend, even though it was Thursday. There were even a few take out orders picked up. After prompt service and ordering, our food arrived at 2:05, about a 15 minute wait, which was impressive for the busy kitchen. I've written other reviews in the food and they all still stand. In fact, I realize that I go heavy here on the choice because it is so good. This time, as predictable, my order was the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, white sawmill gravy, collard greens and a biscuit. Five stars. Even though the steak and gravy was a little saltier than my current palate's liking, it was exactly the way it is supposed to be... I'm watching the salt in my older age, no fault of the chef's. Our tradition of the Clayton Cafe is now 6 years running g and we may just work this into a destination day trip. The nearby Tallulah Gorge is a nice attraction to add to our main event of the Clayton Cafe lunch. P.S. If fried chicken livers are the special, then the country fried steak will have to be "next time." And they do have plenty of healthy options, salads, a full breakfast menu, sandwiches, burgers, but we are here for the Southern Classics.
