We were seated and when our server arrived, she asked us if we wanted to order a drink. Yes, but we weren't given the drink menu. She disappeared into the kitchen and came back with the menus a while later. We ordered margaritas. We noticed our server making the margaritas. Wow! She is a bartender too? Welp, that was short lived. The margaritas were clear ice. No flavor, nada. Our server had by then disappeared, so we tried to flag down other servers...but they quickly just passed our table. Legends needs to introduce the "team" attitude amongst their servers just like Murphy's chophouse staff, but I digress. Our server finally appeared again at our table, and we told her about the margaritas. She quickly said "I told you they were awful!" Before I could respond she quickly added "Oh no, I told that other table that!". She suggested different drinks, and we agreed. She went to the bar, made them, and delivered them. They were awful. We stuck with water after that. Legends needs to have actual, certified and trained bartenders working. That would also have helped our server SERVE better, as she had to keep diverting to the bar to make drinks for her various tables. We inquired about the Southwestern egg rolls, she said "those come frozen, they aren't made here". So we ordered the chips and queso dip which she said were "made in house". The queso dip was bland. And during our visit, our server kept dropping some vulgar words, which we felt was inappropriate for a server to use while serving patrons in a restaurant. We have loved Perrone's, Poor Parsons, and Murphy's Chophouse. We won't be returning to or recommending Legends. read more

Let's start with the ambiance and service. It was a very nice place! Looked and felt like an upscale steakhouse and the service matched. Our server made great recommendations and it really made our night! (He said to order the steak one under what you like and it was spot on advice). All of the food was delicious! The steak was perfect (after ordering rare for a medium rare finish). The green beans tasted great and the Mac n cheese was on point! (I could have lived without the $24 scallops but I also work at a seafood market so I am super picky with my seafood... husband liked them but agreed the price wasn't great.) The dessert was delicious! The drinks from the bar were perfect. We both agreed we would eat here again! read more

I could have easily made this a five-star review, but the service gave me pause. When we first arrived, we were asked if we had reservations. I went to their website and there's no statement about making reservations or it's highly recommended that we make reservations. After I told her no, she stated that she will need a staff member to see what they can do because she doesn't know where to seat us. At this moment it felt quite awkward because the restaurant wasn't crowded and there was clearly a table that could easily seat our party of 6. Nevertheless, we were seated and the other host who seated us seemed friendly. Our appetizers and meals were good, no complaints there. We had spinach and artichoke dip with spinach pita chips and mozzarella sticks to start, very delicious. Our meals consisted of steaks, trout, and salads, grits, baked potatoes and sweet potato fries which was nicely prepared and tasty. But while we were eating and enjoying our conversations, our server asked if we were ready for dessert. I was incredulous seeing that none of our plates were empty and she asked while we were still eating. My husband told her no, we're still eating and probably wouldn't have room for dessert. Our server came back about 15 minutes later and asked how many to-go boxes do we need. I told her none, we're still eating. She came back again about 15-20 minutes later and asked again, how many to-go boxes do we need and I told her once again that we're still eating. I found this quite offensive and off putting as if she was trying to rush us out of the restaurant. The restaurant closed at 9:00pm and it was about 7:50pm. We normally tip at the highest percentage on the receipt (this receipt had 25%), but in this instance we gave 20% because the food was good, but our server seemed passive aggressive. The absence of diversity in the restaurant was striking, and being the only guests who looked like us made the service feel uneasy, almost as if our presence didn't quite fit their norm. read more

A gift certificate brought us to the Legends Steakhouse in Murphy, NC. The hand breaded Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Sauce were the perfect thickness and fried to a golden brown. Our two entree choices was the Strawberry Pecan Salad with Salmon and a 8 oz Filet Mignon with a side salad and Red Skin Mashed Potatoes. The filet was prepared to order (rare) and was incredibly tender considering the thickness. Our waitress was attentive; the restaurant was clean and aesthetically appealing resulting in a very pleasurable eating experience. We love visiting Murphy! We will definitely be back to eat again at Legends. The menu has something for every pallet & appetite. Thumbs Up! read more

I highly recommend visiting this restaurant. The streaks and sides were Absolutely great! I recommend getting the Steak Fries! Perfect size and seasoned!! The deserts on the other hand were a huge disappointment! In the display they looked like a millions bucks, the taste was another thing. 2 of us tried the strawberry shortcake and it was not good at all. Very dry! The Hummingbird cake was an even bigger disappointment. 2 of us tried that desert and after the first bite we were regretting picking that dessert. The cheesecake and peanut butter pie seemed ok, but the others were a waste of our money and time. Service was very good! Sweet tea was great! Medium sized, uniquely decorated (read that as great vibe!) and a pretty expansive menu with a lot to offer in Murphy North Carolina. My wife had a grilled chicken breast with garlic and herb seasoning and really scrumptious potato wedges. Excellent! I had chicken and waffles and WOW!!! Best chicken and waffles I've ever had, any where anytime! The curly sweet potato garnish was a really nice (and tasty) touch! Place has improved on each of our visits, taking into account we visited upon initial opening. Food was good, now it's very good. Service was ok, now it's good. Ambiance hadn't been established, now it's vibrant and warm. We went with a large group with short notice and were easily accommodated. Wife and I both ordered the River Valley steak salad for $17. Ingredients were cheap. Spring mix mostly chopped iceberg. Shaved Parmesan cheese described on the menu was cheap grated pizza topping. We stopped in for lunch to check out this new restaurant in Murphy. The decor is great; recently converted from an auto parts store, they removed old plaster and dropped ceiling to reveal old brick walls and the original 1950's era ceiling. Nice lighting and bar area give it a warm ambiance. I had the "Yo, Adrian!" Cheesesteak and my wife had the chicken sandwich (grilled). The cheesesteak was tasty but a bit short on the meat, onions and peppers, and the roll was cold. My wife's sandwich was average. The Texas potatoes were very good; large fresh-cut wedges baked to perfection. The service was good ("Sam", our waitress, was attentive and engaging) but it took quite a while for our lunch to arrive. They do not yet serve beer or wine, but expect to have their license soon. read more

The food here was great. This was the only place opened in Murphy the night we were here for our trip to the mountains, so we ate here and were pleasantly surprised! Had been earlier in the year so decided to come back for my wife's birthday. We ordered an appetizer and we both had the 6oz filet and a bottle of wine. The steaks were so undercooked they were raw. I had trouble finding our waitress or any staff eventually finding them huddled in a back corner. We sent the steak back but when it was brought back it was no better by this time the rest of the food was cold. We asked to speak to a manager who suggested the steaks should have been butterflied! And she would adjust the bill. We received "the local" discount of $3.0 off a $37 meal. It is unlikely we will go back. The place has Steakhouse in the name and so the fact they messed up the steak is unbelievable read more
