It had been about two years since I tried the food at main street restaurant. At that time the meal was not good at all . I will have to say nothing has improved in two years. I ordered a Hamburger special . The fries were crispy and hot but when I bit into the hamburger it was horrible . Had that texture of a soy patty and tasted old. It also smelled like old hamburger. I ate just two bites and was afraid to eat any more. The ketchup on the table was Walmart brand. That says a lot about quality . I gave them another chance but they failed. I can't see why they are getting a four star ratings. I have managed a lot of restaurants and owned some. My background is extensive in the restaurant business so I call it as I see it. I was in town to grab a hot dog but my first choice location ended up closing here so, as one does, I hopped on to Yelp to find another option. Main Street popped up and so I headed their way. It's just off the main street in downtown and, despite a storm having just passed through, there were lots of people out and about for an Art Walk. The inside was closed. I didn't see hours posted but I think it's only open for breakfast and maybe lunch. I got back in my car and went to the drive thru. I ordered a hot dog with chili, slaw, and mustard, a cheeseburger, and a drink. There was some difficulty with hearing through the speaker and the person taking my order got mad at me. :shrug: I pulled around, paid, took my food, and headed back into the parking lot to sit and eat. The hot dog was bad. The hot dog and chili were warmish. The chili had beans in it (sorry, but I do expect North Carolina hot dogs to be served with hot dog chili aka, no beans). The bun fell apart the moment I picked it up. I didn't finish it. The burger was better. Patty was warm, cheese nearly melted, fresh slice of thick tomato. The whole thing wasn't terribly expensive but this is a big case of you get what you pay for. Breakfast looks good but I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

This is by far the best food and service in Murphy! So incredibly affordable and so delicious!! This place is a gem unbelievable places like this still exist! We have already eaten here twice in our three day stay lol. The biscuit and gravy with sausage was our favorite breakfast. For lunch the bacon double cheeseburger was huge and the Philly cheesesteak had the cheese melted inside. Well. Lived here a year and have heard about Main Street through our neighborhood web page and YElP and decided to give it a try. While inside was clean the food was terrible. I ordered. Chili dog and the chili was canned chili and cold. Ordered a chuck wagon sandwich and it was ok with tomatoes that looked like they were two days old. Also had chicken strips that were frozen and overcooked. French fries were cold . Cheap eats are ok but I will pay money for better quality. Probably will not return . read more

For the quantity and quality of food at this cost, it would have been a 4 out of the gate. Burgers were tasty, fresh, and the fries were fine (not great, not bad). We fed a family of three on thirteen dollars, which is awesome. They DO take credit cards now, instead of cash only. The wait in the drive through was about 20 minutes, which is long, and they really weren't all that friendly. Finally, we got our order, and it was wrong (which we didn't check until we were at home). They left out a side (onion rings) and there was ketchup on a burger that was requested without. So, good food, cheap, a little bit of you get what you get, and don't pitch a fit. read more

Food was really good and service was basic, but this place used to be a bank and I think all they did was move the tables out slap a kitchen in the vault room! It's pretty weird actually and I now understand why most people use the drive thru. It's pretty run down and tired inside. For go to the bathrooms there's a pile of junk next to them that would take about 5 minutes to get rid off, but I bet it's been sitting there for years! It's pretty sad all these local restaurants could care less about there image and just leave junk sitting out. All that it would take is one day of cleaning!!! I just don't get it. Let's get real. I have never been inside this place, I have only used the drive-thru. It's cheap. It's greasy burgers & fries, and a few other things. But you go here for a quick burger. Crowded for a reason. If you ever go to a new place and wonder if a single burger is enough or should you get the double, here the single is enough. I remembered why I don't go to this place often... Extremely SLOW service if you dine in. They seem to cater to the drive thru window more than the inside guests. Did I say slow service inside? It took 15 minutes to get two hamburgers, a hot dog and a fry. They were not that flavorful. I will say that the tomatoes on the burgers were ripe. That is an oddity for any place. The best part of this fiasco was the parking lot when we were leaving. Some genius decided it was a good idea to take his twenty foot trailer through the drive thru. There were two cars already waiting to place their orders. This clown had the parking lot completely clogged up. Not to mention the road accessing the lot. read more

This place is a must if you're in or around Murphy,NC, especially if you are going to the casino. It is simply the best country home cooking I've had in years, and the price is amazingly low-key $4.99 for your choice of four different entrees, three sides, roll or cornbread, and drink. Considering the money you save and good food that this place has, it's really no wonder there is a long wait. I mean, where else can you get a tasty burger, fries, and drink for 2.99? The traffic is terrible in the parking lot, but this place isn't McDonald's. It's a smaller family owned company and with that there are a few set backs. It's customers aren't really geared to out of town people, but to our local population. You can tell that by the more personalized greetings and the staff knowing nearly everybody's name. Consider too, that when you place an order, your order is cooked on the spot, not precooked and waiting in the window for you to happen to order it... so yeah, of course you have to wait! WOW! Our first time eating here. A friend recommended it - we live an hour away. Inexpensive BUT great tasting. I love that they cook your order individually.
